Sorry - WELCOME cockdodger!!!!

Alps have not thought about maternity clothes yet as am secretly trying to diet (well not eat biscuits really) until the bump appears I'm guessing it will be a bit earlier than last time. I am definitely throwing away most of old maternity clothes other than jeans and linen trousers which were a good buy. Everything else is minging and worn. I like Pretty Pregnant and Blossom Mother and Child which is obscenely expensive but nice for occasions.

owlbooty · 23/07/2011 20:57

Brownie I found some decent ones in Debenhams as from about 10 weeks on I had The Sorest Norks On The Planet. I found the underwires were only a problem when I started feeling they were a problem if you see what I mean otherwise I'd have carried on with wired ones I think.

Asda is good for cheap-assed maternity clothes. Thus I am sitting here in my Asda fat-tent looking like I just escaped from a trailer park. I've even thrown takeaway down the front.

GG the very best of luck for tomorrow, missus (it is tomorrow isn't it?). May the downwards Force be with you!

LadyGoneGaga · 24/07/2011 07:03

Thanks all. Excitingly my plug came out yesterday (like really, really thick snot if you're interested). Not bloody though. And still no labour so off to hospital in a bit.

See you on the other side (unless I get really bored and start posting from phone which is entirely possible). Good luck to the other layers.

MrBitey · 24/07/2011 09:36

Good luck lovely! So exciting!

Pessary in. Been for a walk. Now having a Latte with the Sunday Times. So far, so civilised but no contractions yet. They reckon only one pessary and then will break my waters.

Enjoy this lovely, sunny Sunday, hags.

BrownB · 24/07/2011 11:11

Good luck GG - will be thinking of you today.

Medee · 24/07/2011 11:34

Good luck, gaga!

AlpinePony · 24/07/2011 11:35

brownie You are not the only ESH who has mother "ishoos", you're not even the first antipideon ESH with mother "ishoos"! Wink Join the club. No coincidence really that I have physically separated myself using land & ocean. My MIL on the other hand is a gem, mind you, she's a grafter like me so we're similar.

As for bras, I just can't bring myself to wear underwired bras. Next step I'd be wearing converse boots/birkenstocks and cockdodger would call me "diesel". :( I do find though that my nipples can be incredibly sensitive by the end of the day, you know, they feel like the feet of the ice queen, ready to shatter in to a million pieces. So I don't wear a bra unless I'm leaving the house tbh. And it's keeping my knees warm.

moo I too am trying to diet watch my weight and so far have put on nothing which I'm pleased with at 10 weeks, however, given the number of times I throw up it does seem disproportionate. I should be a stone lighter. Mind you, when the rest of you are withering away I'll still be a fearsome warrior-hunter chick! Wink I too am ditching most of my maternity stuff from last time for reasons that they're summer clothes and mostly because I am "bored" of them. Blush I will check out the links you've talked about, the maternity selection over here is poor, it's either Mamalicious veering rapidly towards top end (tiny sizes) or Etam/H&M/C&A very uninspiring. :( Plus of course that old adage of fat birds can't get a fuck, never mind diffed!

macaroon Sorry to hear of husband problems. :( I must admit I'm "less interested" (so far) this time around because I'm so busy with work & looking after Bear I just don't have time/inclination to be savouring every single second. Perhaps he's just a bit too busy to be throwing himself in to it? Although obviously when you're heavily pregnant, hormonal and just about to have major surgery you've got top trumps and he should just stfu! His parents "need to be told" I think. Help is one thing, hanging around like a bad smell weeks after the event a total other.

LadyG I really hope things will start to shift soon, it sounds like your body is well on the way so hopefully this pessary will be enough. Although quite frankly I'd be tempted to go AWOL at the hospital and enjoy that paper cover-to-cover because it may be a while! Grin

rocketleaf · 24/07/2011 12:19

Loads of luck for today lady bit late i know as things are hopefully moving swiftly along by now. MicroG will be here very shortly, SQUEEEEE!!!

macaroonmum · 24/07/2011 13:57

gaga hope things are happening as I type Can't wait for news...

Scorps, alps et all. Thanks for the in-law support. It's just so fucking frustrating when men turn into boys as soon as they have to speak to their parents about anything. The problem with the Italian family is that there is no such thing as privacy and they couldn't possibly imagine why i we might not want them sitting in the house for 3 weeks. My parents are ace - they come and help out and then they fuck off in the evening for a drink/dinner. With his family, it's like having to babysit...and they're sports-channel obsessed. And being killed with kindness is probably the one thing that drives me insane.

Alps it's true about the 2nd being different though - having to run around after the first really takes away from the bump-adoring ceremonies. I know TIS will be fine once he's here, it's just the having to explain about the fact that family should take priority over work etc etc which gets tiring and frustrating.

Anyway,

I'd seen that meringues thread. What a tit.

owlie I love the trailer park version of you I have in my head. Nice work on the takeaway accessory. I only fit into about 3 things now. And it's so true what they say, isn't it, you get to a point when you just don't care

Brun I didn't wear underwired because it was too sore and got myself a couple of good Triumph bras instead which are stitched so well, they seem to do the same job.

I have made chocolate banana bread. That's healthy, right?

LadyGoneGaga · 24/07/2011 14:02

Having contractions now but they are not too bad. Got tens machine on. Being examined again at 3 so will see what the situ is.

I haven't worn a wired bra in nearly 4 years as have been constantly pregnant or breastfeeding all that time. I think Bravissimo are very good for offering wireless support.

MrBitey · 24/07/2011 14:22

Squeeeee! How exciting! Today could be your baybee's birthday!

I took myself for a very long walk on a remote beach without my mobile phone this morning hoping to tempt fate. Nothing. In a way sort of glad as me and the foot dragging one had a horrible row last night and aren't really talking. Not the way to welcome bitey bach into the world!

maccers sounds like one of your five a day to me Smile

Intrigued by cockatoo's job.... Are you a professional cake carrier?

Scorpette · 24/07/2011 15:00

GOOD LUCK, GG! Can't wait for the good news and will be sending you mucho luff and easy-sneezy vibes until that news reaches me xxxx

Well, MIL has decided she wishes to grace us with her bountiful presence after all... tomorrow Hmm We woke up to an email saying the ILs are coming up to 'make contact' with T now that 'he is older and more interesting'. Nice. And so thoughtful to check to see if your visit is convenient, grrrr Angry I know I wanted her to show willing, but you don't just impose yourself like that, do you? V much a case of 'be careful what you wish for'.

Muser · 24/07/2011 16:40

And mucho congratulations to CockDodgems. Hurrah and huzzah!

Muser · 24/07/2011 16:43

I have no words for your MIL Score. If it makes you feel better my mum muttered the other day about how she really should come and see us again. But made it sound like a terrible hardship when the train from hers to Lahndahn takes 45 fecking minutes. And I would happily meet her in the centre.

LadyGoneGaga · 24/07/2011 16:52

Still frigging 2cm. Having prostin contractions which are short and therefore ineffective. Bah.

owlbooty · 24/07/2011 18:12

Damnit! I had made a massive heap of booze, brie and cured meats to encourage the contractions to perk up and bloody MN logged me out and I lost it.

Score your MIL is effing mental. Pliz to add something 'interesting' to her cup of tea just before she heads home for a special journey. I'm thinking senacot or whatever it is called?

Maccer it's two of your five a day as chocolate is def. a vegetable. Now where is mine, hmm?

My bp was so crap this morning I called the labour ward in a panic. They told me to lie down for 20 minutes and do it again and if it came out over 100 again, to go in. Whaddaya know, it actually worked so I didn't have to go in, hoorah. But not hoorah as I realised just now I should have gone to the GP on Friday and missed my appt and thus am one of those evil people who wastes GP time and will probably be on some sort of sin list at the surgery :(

I am fed up and hot and depressed.

Ginfox · 24/07/2011 18:23

Good luck LadyG. Hope you get sneezing soon.

Haven't had chance to catch up properly, but will do soon. Laters!

Scorpette · 24/07/2011 18:42

Come on, GG'sCervix! Stop messin' abaaaaht! We needs a baybee and we needs it now! Oh yeah, GG probably fancies one too, whatevs Wink Good luck, my lovely. Thinking of you xx

Am utterly cheered by thought of MIL papping her pants all the way home to Devon, cheers, Bootilicious Grin I think the GP should let you off due to baby brain. I missed my follow-up app for my crazy keloid scar... Which wasn't keloid at all but swollen with water retention like me hands and trotters, durr. Well done, dermatologists Hmm (I thoughtfangs of my pg woes would like an update, ahem).

Muse, that's a bit rubbish of your mum Sad Some people hate travelling, but... Hmmm. I am thinking uncharitable thoughts. You can lead a horse to water, etc.

ILs coming between 7-8pm. I reserve the right to wax lyrical about my anal fissure* and how much my parents do for us & how generous they've been, etc. Am not required to provide food (oh, how kind!). Ducolax coffee, anyone?

*I have learnt from my dad the art of deliberately talking about inappropriate things in a faux-disingenuous manner, so as to appear like I don't realise I'm embarrassing folk, buahaha. It's the only thing that keeps me sane in their company!

Medee · 24/07/2011 21:09

Couldn't you have had a prior engagement, Scorps?

Orchid12 · 24/07/2011 21:20

Waaah - just popping in to say good luck to LGG. Wishing you all the best my lovely! Look forward to some nice news tomorrow Smile

Scorpette · 24/07/2011 21:52

Yeah, I thought of that, Medee, but who goes somewhere when it's baby's bedtime? And TYF is happy they're finally showing an interest, so I shall grin and bear it, like the perfect partner that I am (oy, stop laughing!).

Pacing for you, GG :) Hope you'll be snuffling your new baybee next time I check here xx

Medee · 24/07/2011 21:57

who visits at baby's bedtime? Anyway, I am glad TYF is happy.
