So very happy for you Kat xxx

Truffkin · 08/09/2011 21:57

Brilliant news Kat am so happy for you. Hope the next 31 weeks are as boring and uneventful as can be Wink

Thanks for white shirt advice. Have ordered the noppies one but will also check New Look as am definitely liking cheap and cheerful. It's actually for a hen night when we have to wear police outfits ( I don't know how I've timed being so pregnant with all of these events!) but thought if I get a nice one I could maybe wear it for work as well.

I can't believe I'll be 30 weeks tomorrow Shock time is just flying by. I think we're closer to finding my maternity cover, final interview on Monday, which will make me feel a bit more relaxed.

Had blood test results yesterday and my iron is too low so am on the red meat diet (joke) and off to stock up on spatone. GP agreed not to give me iron tablets for now due to existing sicklyness and to re-test in 2 weeks to see if diet is doing the trick.

Occers your girl is simply beauts, well done Mrs. It sounds like she put you through the mill a bit but glad she's here safe and sound.

Think I'm off for an early night as can feel a cold coming on. Am pleased to have a reason for feeling run down as was feeling like a proper weakling when I only had a holiday last week.

LadyGoneGaga · 08/09/2011 22:25

Congratulations, Occy! So pleased you are both home and well. A little girl. Did you have any inkling? Looking forward to pics and gory details.

Fab news on scan, Kat. I think a HB at that stage is massively reassuring and chances are great that you will walk out of this with a real, live baybee. Hurrah.

Thinking of you and your Mum, Bitey. Hugs.

Right, back to it. My little baybee seems to have decided sleep is optional. Still not in frigging bed.

Ocarina · 08/09/2011 22:33

Kat I'm doing my general paranoia about people working out who I am on here (although why anyone would bother I'm not sure), so message me here or on fb and I'll let you know the name (I would say I'd find you and do it, but I suspect the good idea will disappear out of my head as soon as I stop typing). Round here she may be known as Peedie given that's what she was at least some of the time before she was born (it's an Orkney word for small we picked up when we were on holiday, and I guess even at 9lb1 she's still pretty small in the whole grand scheme of things!)

Ocarina · 08/09/2011 22:36

GG I flipped between being convinced she was a boy (after one scan in particular, although nothing to do with anything boy-related I could see IYSWIM) and thinking nope she's a girl. My sister was adamant all the way through she was a girl, and interestingly the name she's ended up with is one which kind of lived with me from very early on despite not knowing her gender. Don't tell TH I said that though, I suspect he thinks it was his idea!

Medee · 09/09/2011 02:01

Congratulations ocarina! And hurrah to kat!

kat2504 · 09/09/2011 08:15

thinking of biteymum hope all is well

AlpinePony · 09/09/2011 08:26

Are you sure it's Peedie? Shetland word is peerie - there's even a mn poster somewhere called Peerie. MASSIVE congratulations though - it's all wonderful and I know exactyl how you feel about being allowed to leave hospital with such a precious thing. What? Us muppets? Shock

Kat am so thrilled for you - you've done it gal! Are you still in that canoe though?

truffs What do you doooooo that requires so much excitement and cloak & dagger replacement stuff? Are you a secret agent? Godiva chocolate taster? For iron - read recently that cutting out Vit A (i.e., pate/liver/etc.) inhibits iron uptake... after 20 weeks Vit A intake actually advised - you cannot OD on Vit A unless you eat a polar bear's liver. Alternatively, how about a splash of guinness with a coke? Splash of vodka + splash of kahlua also a treat. Guinness vile, mix it up and it's palatable. Or cook a stew in guinness or something to evaporate the alcohol but keep the iron.

BarbiesBeaver · 09/09/2011 11:19

Hurray OccyMum! What a cutie she is.

And hurray for babyKat being spot on perfect for 9 weeks. 3 weeks will soon go past and then you can get another reassuring peek. How are the jabs going?

Hope all is well today with BityMum.

Our house goes on the market next week, ulp. I hope to re-enact LadyGG last minute house move and not be having to stay in our cottage all winter with baby in tow. Also going to play with pushchairs this weekend which should be fun.

kat2504 · 09/09/2011 11:20

Jabs are not to bad barbie I have a little bit of bruising and although it sometimes stings a bit after, it doesn't really hurt at the time.

Ocarina · 09/09/2011 11:37

Hope all's going well with your mum Bitey.

You're right about peerie Alps, that's the Shetland word. Orcadians presumably have to have a separate vocabulary hence peedie - dunno why that's the one we adopted seeing as we visited both. Hey ho. Peedie has just seen the midwife and all is well with her and me, so it looks like we really do get to keep her Shock.

Forgot to say a huge thank you to the lovely Aries for keeping you all up to date when posting on the internet was beyond me.

And apologies for being entirely unable to remember where anyone else is up to - big smooches all round (I can blame the hormones, OK!)

laurielou · 09/09/2011 12:47

Kat that is wonderful scan news, well done you!! I hope that you can sit back & start to enjoy it all now.

Occs welcome to t'other side. Many congrats on your little girl.

BarbiesBeaver · 09/09/2011 13:44
macaroonie · 09/09/2011 15:02

Congratulations Occy she's a beaut!

Kat Fantastic news about little wriggler. So happy for you!

Bitey lighting candle for you mum and thinking of you x

Truffkin Boo to the puking and low iron levels but hurrah for the 30 week mark :)

I'm so completely AWOL at the moment...apologies but there's a lot going on here at the moment with visitors, nursery and newbie. Why did i think i'd be spending my mat leave by passing time on MN? It's not like it's the first baby I've had. Mah.

starcuntmole · 09/09/2011 17:55

Mah. it's italian for Meh. Wink

Just wanted to add my heartfeltest congratulations on the safe arrival of beautiful ocababe. Hope there's happy snuffling occarring (geddit)Grin

Would also like to right a terrible wrong I feel I may have incurred (do you incur a wrong? Maybe a fault?) whereby I was on holiday when the equally splendid owlet hatched and don't think I celebrated the fact on here though I did keep checking and was cock a hoop when I saw he was here. Hurrah for all newly laid baybees!

and, like, if anyone ever wants to drop by our way, you're always welcome you know...

BrownB · 10/09/2011 17:11

Congratulations Occa! Sounds like you're now in well earned snuffle heaven. I haven't seen the pictures of your wee Peedie, but will go check in a minute.

As for me... had my 20-week scan yesterday. (21-week scan really) I'm having a girl, and all looks healthy and happy down there. Which is brilliant news frankly . I think I'll call her Brownlet.

Kat - am really happy for you and your healthy little Kit. It's brilliant news Grin.

Bitey - hope your mother is okay..?!

It made a really nice end to the week, as I have been down in the dumps somewhat. The other shit is just overwhelming at times. My OH's ex is pure poison, and she continues to be true to form. At least there is some distance, but we're trying to come to terms with the horrible reality, and set up some sort of safeguards etc. The financial settlement has yet to be agreed, and this worries me somewhat. Anyway - have been that sad and pathetic, I've not even been lurking.

BB - good luck with the house sale. Hope it's quick and painless... Stranger things have happened - no?

Alps - I would really love to know what exactly happened with work.

Truffs - Do you design bras for M&S? Or aircraft wings?

BrownB · 10/09/2011 17:12

Oh - one last thing... So so so sorry Jannit. Really sad news. Hope to see you here again soon.

Truffkin · 10/09/2011 18:09

Am just popping in whilst waiting impatiently for TGB to get to a save point in his game so I can immerse myself in the land of sequins, glitter and fake tan that is Strictly - so excited (do not care how geeky this makes me) to assure you all that I do not have a top secret, exciting job at all. We've ben struggling to find someone who is as -brilliant as me-- a good cultural fit as well as being technically able to do a job. I work for a media Company and we've just not been able to find someone with the right personality to gel with the directors they would be working with. I work in HR so my stakeholder relationships are the most important part of my job - but it is certainly not as glamorous as the guesses above. Sorry!

I wish I designed bras for M&S, I would deffo have nicer ones in mahoosive knocker size so I could personally benefit Grin

MadameBoo · 10/09/2011 22:04

Just popping in to give extra special squeezes to Brown luffly, luffly scan news. :)

BrownB · 11/09/2011 00:23

Bah. I got my paragraphs mixed up there ^... Bollocks.

Truffkin · 11/09/2011 09:45

Brownie I'm so sorry not to have commented on your scan news yesterday, pliz to slap me? Blush Tis truely wondrous news and hopefully a beam of sunshine amongst the rest of the shite you are dealing with.

kat2504 · 11/09/2011 09:54

brownie congratulations on lovely scan news! Can't believe you are 21 weeks already, how does the time go so fast?!

AlpinePony · 11/09/2011 09:57

brownie Fantastic news on brownlet! Does this mean you're going to go out and start buying everything pink? Grin Massive congratulations - the naming arguments now may begin in earnest.

MOG! Has anyone seen the bitey fb pics? That isn't the mother of a newborn - behold the shiny, glossy clean hair! Envy

Medee · 11/09/2011 11:08

lovely baby girl news, Brown. Sorry the other stuff is shit

Muser · 11/09/2011 20:24
