No it is supposed to prevent blood clotting in the placental blood vessels that may prevent oxygen getting to the baybee thereby killing it. It does also thin the blood but I don't think that will make it fall out sooner. I think that happens when your hormone levels drop. Historically, my body is stoopid and does not recognise when the baby is gone and keeps up the hormone levels until some sort of intervention takes place.
Yes in my experience they stay very quiet until they have found something!

Truffkin · 07/09/2011 11:47

Yo biatches, looks like there has been fun and games in my absence! Congrats Oche am looking forward to suitably snuffly, squee-inducing pics when you are able.

Kat am wishing you the very best of British luck for a lovely, heart melting scan tomorrow. I understand the pre-scan nerves but hopefully they will be needless and all is well with your kitten.

Alps can't believe you are nearly half way, that seems to have flown by (mebs not for you though) although I'm with Barbie in thinking there must surely be a few hundred more differs on the list above me, there must be some mistake? I was pleased to have reminded you of the fabness of Next jeans.

So the pre-bab holibobs were fabulously relaxing, a series of beach walks; afternoon tea; spa treatments; afternoon naps and great food. I had the most gorgeous pregnancy massage in the cowshed spa, would deffo recommend if anyone is considering a treat. I'm hoping to fit another one in at one of the London spas before d-day. Unfortunately the busy weekend of family engagements that came after the holiday was less relaxing and we came home on Sunday night feeling a little more frazzled than we had hoped. I have then had 2 stressful work days (don't you just love it when colleagues mess up best laid plans in only a weeks' absence?) and spent most of last night puking after unsuccessfully battling reflux / heartburn for an hour or so at 3am.

I have decided that today I am officially off sick from work. I feel stupidly guilty as we are really busy and launched a restructure yesterday but I'm at the point where I need to look after myself. I have 8 1/2 weeks left at work and seriously considering trying to bring my finish date forward. I have reached the realisation in the last week that I have grossly underestimated how physically challenging the last trimester would be and also (shock horror to my career-focussed brain) how much I would be looking forward to finishing work and meeting my baybee. It has really taken me this long to get to that point and I'm a bit Shock by it!

My apologies for the massive whinge-fest. I have spoken to my GP on the phone this morning and she has prescribed me with ranitidine to manage the reflux and hopefully stem the sickness (having enjoyed 6 weeks-ish with very minimal pukage, I had begun to take it for granted) and on the plus side, I am quite enjoying a day under my duvet on the sofa watching 'homes under the hammer' and other such tat. Just a shame I can't indulge in comfort eating as anything too nice is out of bounds.

I am aware this post is mammoth and I need to bugger off now, but I do have a call for help. I need to buy a white 'work' type shirt and am finding it unbelievably difficult to get anything in maternity. They are all massive empire line things and I just want something that is a fitted, button up white shirt. I'm ok if the buttons are only on the top half (assuming I can fit large norkage inside) but wondered if there are any recommendations please. The best one I have found is this one but am not sure on the sizing. Any advice will be well received so thanks PESHies.

MrBitey · 07/09/2011 12:43

Congratulations Occy! Is it bad that I am feeling a new born baybee broody pang? Have a lovely time snuffling xxx

Can I ask the candle lighters amongst you to light one for my poor mum tomorrow? She has gone off to the big smoke today (we seem to have a shortage of hospitals in Wales) and is having surgery tomorrow. We are praying for a good result and that this nightmare will be coming to an end soon. Thanks lovelies hags

In birghter news bitey bach has given the FDH a beaming smile this morning. He detatched himself from my boob to turn his head to do it. The FDH is chuffed, I am a ilttle put out as haven't had one yet despite gurning like a fool at him all day. Ah well, plenty of time for more Smile

Medee · 07/09/2011 17:09

Truffs, I have a white wrap shirt from Jojomaman, which i bought from ebay for pennies, BNWT. However, I never managed to get it to work on me, and is still BNWT, so to save me re-ebaying it will happily post it to you if you would like to try it, and if it doesn't work just pass it one somewhere. It's a size 10.

laurielou · 07/09/2011 17:32

Bitey candle lit here for your mum. Ihope her surgery goes well.

Kat I have everything crossed for you having a good scan experience tomorrow.

Truffs Diff massages are the best, aren't they? Definitely agree you need to look after yourself. Sod work.

Typing one handed left handed while trying to entertain BugBoy is an acquired skill Grin

kat2504 · 07/09/2011 17:40

thanks for the good wishes. I guess what will be will be and there is nothing that can change it now.

bitey hope your mum's surgery goes well - virtual candle lit for you.

MadameBoo · 07/09/2011 19:18

I was going to suggest Isabella Oliver Truffs - they're grgeous clothes - pricey but you might find one on ebay.

Ariesgirl · 07/09/2011 19:19

Good luck tomorrow Kat. All the best x

MrBitey · 07/09/2011 21:02

Sorry Kat am entirely self abosrbed at the moment. Hope tomorrow goes well for you too xx

rocketleaf · 07/09/2011 22:12

Loads of luck for tomorrow Kat sure you won't need it though and little kitten will be just fine.

AlpinePony · 08/09/2011 06:58

Good luck kat - we're all thinking of you and holding your hand.

MadameBoo · 08/09/2011 08:42

All thoughts with you today Kat xxxx

kat2504 · 08/09/2011 11:46

Hello! What a relief! minikit is absolutely fine, everything looks normal for 9 weeks, quadrupled in size since the last time and is now up to 22mm with a lovely strong heartbeat. This might actually be it! Thanks for all the good wishes. I was a total emotional wreck at the hospital this morning and they were so so lovely.

bitey hope your mum is doing ok.

AlpinePony · 08/09/2011 11:56

Well done katkins! Grin Are you exactly 9 weeks? What have they said about viability? I had my scan at 9+6 with Bear and they said it was a "done deal" at that stage. I meant to ask before but it seemed insensitive earlier - has your waist expanded at all until now or are you one of those for whom now you have accepted you're pregnant you'll suddenly expand? Wink I'm so glad it all went well! Was MrKat there too?

kat2504 · 08/09/2011 12:03

They have said that everything looks normal and as it should for this stage. It is as much a done deal as these things can be, obviously I am higher risk for problems but I am on medication for that. She used the colour function and it showed a really nice blood supply to the placenta and the baby. Mr Kat was there - I have a terror of the maternity wing of the hospital for obvious reasons and, up till now, a terror of the ultrasound, so I can't go on my own. Measured 9 weeks exactly, which is spot on with my presumed date of conception.

If my waist has expanded it is probably just full of blubber. My tummy looks a little bit round but then I am not the slimmest anyway at the moment and have spend the last 5 weeks pretty much resting on my sofa.

MrBitey · 08/09/2011 15:29

Oooh kat Good news! Have a celebratory raspberry ruffle on me. They taste sort of medicinal and are therefore health food.

My mum is in the Heath ski glad to know it's good there. I want to go and visit but suspect that shrieking colicky baybees are not ideal in high dependency. All being well she will be home on Sunday and then we have to wait another week for the results. Very much living one day at a time at the moment but hoping that in time we will all be looking back on this and be so glad it's over.

truff Have you tried new look? I saw some there when I was looking for work clothes. It won't be amazing quality but I assume you aren't seeking a style classic?

rocketleaf · 08/09/2011 15:31

Kat that is fantastic news. A close freind of mine has been undergoing treatment for multiple miscarriages (she's in her third trimester now) and she said that if you make it to 9 weeks that's pretty much a sure thing. Will you get another at 12 to make sure? Congrates, you iz having a baybee :-)

MrBitey · 08/09/2011 15:32

Hmm, bit empire liney now sorry. wrap blouse or stripey blouse

kat2504 · 08/09/2011 15:40

Fanks all! yes I certainly will be having the 12 week scan. They can't do the NT at 9 weeks so I have made out like I am bothered about the NT (which I'm not as I won't have the CVS no matter what) so I can see the kitten again. I can hardly believe there is a real live baybee in there. It seems unreal!

Ocarina · 08/09/2011 19:43

Yay for the real live baybee Kat.

We've got one too, but a bit bigger than yours. She decided to make her entry into the world a bit long and complicated, but all is well in the end and we're now home (having spent almost exactly as long in hospital as I had in labour before we even made it that far - 5 days of my life now lost in a blur I think!).

Pics will make it onto t'other place soon and I might manage the gory details in CRESH at some point for anyone who's interested. In the meantime I can't believe that they've let us home with such a gorgeous perfect little thing, and that apparently they're not worried that we'll drop her/starve her/freeze her/anything else. It's all a bit mind blowing.

Curly if you're still in this bit of north you're more than welcome to door-step - message me on t'other place.

rocketleaf · 08/09/2011 19:58

Awww occers congratulations! Happy snuffling. I still look at Sprout and have "wtf? it's a real live baybee" moments and she's nearly 4 months. :o

kat2504 · 08/09/2011 20:02

Yay occers congratulations and pleased you are back home again. I bet she is just beautiful and gorgeous. What is her name?

CurlyCasper · 08/09/2011 20:28

wonderful news occy! baby girls are the best. i have messaged you xxx

Ariesgirl · 08/09/2011 20:34

Lovely news Kat. I had a little eyeful of tear then.

Right, that's me out of here, I was only popping to see if I could see Occy and for Kat news.

CurlyCasper · 08/09/2011 20:42
