Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Muser · 26/07/2011 15:59

I caught the very end of it. I had the same midwife throughout my labour, but then it was fast and she got my notes written up just as her shift ended. And because it was fast I wasn't left alone at any point. I think I would have found it very hard if there'd been people switching a lot.

rocketleaf · 26/07/2011 17:40

I had the same MW until the last hour when the shift changed at 7 but they were both fab (and tbh by then I didn't really know or care who was in the room). Very chilled and just let me get on with it which I was surprised about considering I was on the delivery suite. None of this 'not allowing' me to push for an hour or whatever.

I also didn't think the food was that bad either but then I avoided the meals and stuck to butties and jacket spuds mainly.

Hope you are ok boots

Lovely to get gin and geegee updates. snuffletastic!!

AlpinePony · 26/07/2011 18:58

I guess that's the advantage of being in a smaller city Medee - I wouldn't do NHS in London/Manchester/brum etc. :(

aries I'm sorry about your friend feeling the way she does. I hope in time she can find peace and realise it's Bonkers.

BrownB · 26/07/2011 20:56

I am officially kacking it. My OH is trotting off to family court on Thursday/Friday for The Heinous Hearing from Hell. ie - he's fighting his ex who wants to move back to Italy and take their son with her. It's been a hard, stressful ride and now that D-Day is arriving am feeling sick with the thought of it.

But that doesn't stop me being interested in how Scorps got on with her MIL?!?!

And how Wol is getting on with the hospital food.

And how GeeGee is getting on with BabyIris...?

If fact someone talk to me! I could use the distraction!!

PollyPoo · 26/07/2011 21:14

Hello Cock!! Great to see you in these parts, big congratulations. How are you feeling? When are you due? Smile

Lovely to hear of all the new baybee snuffles, and the lovely names. Wink

Scropes how was the visit from the skanky MIL?

rocketleaf · 26/07/2011 21:16

Sounds really stressful BB :( please let us know how it all works out. I'll be keeping everything crossed that the court comes to a sensible decision.

I am also fascinated at the outcome of the scoresinlaws visit.

rie your poor friend. I saw a thread on here once where a woman who had had a CS's husband told her she hadn't actually given birth. Shock What a complete crock of shit. I hope she stops giving herself a hard time soon. I know from experience you can get some very weird ideas in the first few weeks of parenthood.

PollyPoo · 26/07/2011 21:18

And big luffs to Wol. I hope you are doing ok in the hossie. I also suffered with the high BP and missed out on home birth. Was fecked right off at the time but it is all but forgotten now. I hope it comes own and you manage to get out soon.

Brownie sorry to hear about the court hearing. I will be keeping everything crossed for you and your OH.

BarbiesBeaver · 27/07/2011 09:53

How is it going PloptheOwl? Hope everything is ticking along ok. ANd that if you are in hospital that it isn't Cottage Pie - it always seems to be in hospital.

Anyone want to place bets on whether I will fit in my wetsuit today or not? I think a crowbar may be required, and the beach should certainly be evacuated so I don't scare the young, the elderly, or those with a nervous disposition.

AlpinePony · 27/07/2011 10:35

barbie Will groups of tourists be excitedly snapping pics of you "in the wild"? Wink

I hope owly is OK, although always when people go quiet I assume it's because they're laying, e.g., MILANO - wasn't it today she was getting cat-flapped? Grin

pol I remember that thread. What a fucking tool that bloke was - makes us happy for the dipshits we have. Wink I hope you have a lovely time with the monkeys - when we went to the zoo the other month I think I was more excited by the primates than anyone else was. Blush

When JB was only a year old his mum took him to the zoo. At the gorilla cage she held JB up so the mummy gorilla could look at him. Mummy gorilla picked up her baby and held it up so JB's mum could inspect her's. Very cool.

brownie I hope it all goes well today I really do. :( Is your husband from the same place as you? If not I hope he's not laying "emotional" stuff on you too. :( Chin up chick. It could be worse, you could be carrying a cake or eating a pork pie.

MrBitey · 27/07/2011 10:42

brownie that sounds horrible and more stress than you need right now. Hope they can get things sorted out in a sensible way. Would you like to see my stretch marks as a distraction?

So bitey bach has a few hours to go before being considered late. He will earn his mother's eternal gratitude by arriving on time! I had always assumed he would be a bit early because he has consistently measured large for the dates. Now have to get my head around the idea that I am just going to have a whopper! < wonders if it is too late for the perineal massage?>

DYING to know how the in laws visit went for score, has she actually killed them?? Shock

cindy when my friend was in hospital (also with differ's high BP) she tucked into cottage pie only to find out it was made with......

tuna

Boak

maccers is it tomorrow you are having your caesar? More new born snuffles coming soon!

Hope you're Ok owlie, keep your pecker up. (Geddit? PECKER!!!)

Scorpette · 27/07/2011 10:52

I am still recovering (although thankfully not on a locked psychiatric ward in a top security prison). 'Highlights' later, when have more time...

But here's a sneak preview: FIL refused to refer to T as anything other than 'it' Shock Angry Sad Oh, tell a lie, he also called him a 'blob'.

okiecokie · 27/07/2011 10:53

Erm is Cock diffed? Nice work! Well done

AlpinePony · 27/07/2011 11:19

bitey I reckon chomping down on cottage-pie only to find it contained tuna would be enough to bring on labour. I think I could create something hideous in the kitchen for you. Something like a cross between Mrs. Doyle's cooking and the old lady from the Dawn French vicar programme.

MrBitey · 27/07/2011 11:41
owlbooty · 27/07/2011 11:42

Brownie Have got my fingers crossed that all goes well for you and your OH today - tis a right shit that it has to happen at all.

Scorps 'It'??? Wtf???

BB I have a wetsuit and I guarantee right now I could not even get it over my calves Grin

Will keep it brief but basically I escaped from the hossie yesterday (hoorah!). Was ridic. Had two dubious bp readings initially and overnight it all went back down to normal levels and didn't go up again and all tests for everything came back normal. Owlet is absolutely fine and dandy. And yet. Now the consultant officially decrees I am 'high risk' and wanted to induce me on Friday (oh the irony as that is the date I have told Owlet he needs to turn up anyway) and give me tablets. She completely did not take on board what I was trying to explain to her about how I'd totally overdone it the last few weeks and was all about the medical and not the psychological if you know what I mean.

I told her I was not up for early induction (or any induction) given that my bp is normal now and he might not be ready at 39 weeks and she couldn't give me any really solid reason why this would be a good plan anyway. So I'm still planning a home birth with the usual proviso that I transfer in if the bp goes up to something daft. The thing is, transfer in during labour was always a possibility anyway and I've always accepted that, but given that it's the medical worries that raise my bp I'd really rather at least start off at home and go in if I need to whereas what she was suggesting would have meant no pool, no MLU, no home birth and probably no TENS either i.e. all my coping strategies buggered before I begin which will guarantee bp through the roof.

I did agree to the tablets but only found out after I'd taken the first one and then looked the buggers up on the internet that a; they are beta blockers which always make me feel like I am going to puke and b; they can in rare circumstances make the baybee a bit dozy when they emerge. I think that the consultant was wrong not to tell me that and am not impressed.

Supposedly I am now down for seeing the community MW every other day for a bp check up but is a right faffing waste of time as I did it myself this morning and it was 138/84 which is normal for me. I know that I am no higher risk than I have ever been and therefore in summary; what a crock of shite. Sorry for epic self-centred ramble but have been mulling it over endlessly and feeling shit and guilty and worried about all of it. You lot have been ace and made me feel a bit less shit though.

GG have you escaped yet?

LadyGoneGaga · 27/07/2011 12:27

Hello, hello.

Have put my very long, rambly birth story onto the CRESH place should anyone be interested.

Yes, I escaped the hospital on Monday night. Me and Iris are both fine, if walking a bit funny (me that is, Iris doesn't walk at all yet). Doing lots of snuffling although this one sleeps all the time and doesn't demand constant holding like MiniG did so making the most and spending more time with first born!

Owlie I hope you're ok. Sounds like they are being a bit uber cautious but do go and check out my birth story as is positive example of induction not having to be shit. Hopefully you can avoid anyway. In my hospital the midwives just took over and seemed to treat the word of the Consultant as something a bonkers old uncle would say, nodding and smiling but basically ignoring! Hopefully Owlet comes out soon under own steam anyway.

Bitey the pink looks good. Biteybach will lurve it, fo sho. I opted not to do the publics in the end. Think was a wise choice.

BrownB wishing you all the best with this hearing. Must be horribly stressful. A blinking awful situation to be in. MrG was recently offered the chance for us to go to Aus for three months for work. We turned it down as didn't think it would sit too well with ex-MrG. Hope you can all come to a sensible solution. Is so hard Sad.

Score your FIL is a dick. I suggest from now on you refuse to refer to him as anything else other than Fuckface or Husband of the skank. Say that this is reasonable since it seems acceptable to use a decriptive nomenclature in this family.

BB why are you wishing to don a wetcuit? As Owlie said i would only just get a toe into mine. But wouldn't need one due to the large subcutaneous fat layer I have grown

Pol yes sorry for the name theft but I had decided on it before I knew anything of names elsewhere. It is lovely though, isn't it? Grin

Alps how are you feeling now? Pukage all ok/manageable?

If anyone is now friends with me on t'other place and wants to be then do PM me - will try and put some more pics up soon.

Going to check out that Panorama prog on catch up.

macaroonmum · 27/07/2011 13:29

'Lo all!
I'm still here alps - caesar salad happening tomorrow am. I am ridiculously calm and collected so will probably not sleep all night and become a drivelling mess tomorrow. In total De nile.

Brownbee I thought it was coming up soon - fingers crossed for the next couple of days and hopefully something will get worked out. What in god's name does she want to come back here for? The place is a political mess and on the verge of financial disaster. But the food's good, I suppose.

Bitebach happy due date! Grin NOW GET A MOVE ON!
I have already done the body-hair removal. Thought a bit of vajazzle might have been good - something like "cut here" in diamantè... too late now.

GG you are sounding wonderful. Am always amazed at anyone who can manage humour and wit just days after giving birth.

Owlz Good for you for putting your foot down. Like you say, best to start things the way you want and hope for the best rather than go for the early induction. Glad it does seem to be back to normal again. Now, put the hammer and nails down and sit on the fucking sofa! With cake. and tea.

score have you checked to see if there is an on/off button on your FIL? He doesn't seem human.
My inlaws have been here for 2 days and i'm almost glad to get into hospital for a bit...the visiting hours are really limited too

MrBitey · 27/07/2011 13:42

It sounds like you are reverting to plan A owlie very pleased for you Smile and well done for standing your ground!

Lovely birth story gaga and an inspiration to the nervous nellies amongst us! Your name is very similar to the one wiould have chosen for a girl, mine was the welsh version but seeing it applied to a real life baybee I think the English is nicer.

You sound very upbeat maccers hope it all oes swimmingly tomorrow, you will be snuffling before lunch - amazing! Thank the lord for strict visiting hours Grin Shouting at the bump may have had some effect - quite a show here - thought I'd wet myself and had quite the fright when I investigated! Maybe on for MOG!111!!1 TWINZ!!11!1! now!

Right, I'm off for a walk. Eeeeeeep.

AlpinePony · 27/07/2011 14:00

haha milano Can you just imagine trying to explain a vajazzle to a non-plussed "forrin" mw who's never seen TOWIE? Grin

I am verrrrry envious of all of you who got to shave legs/vag/pits/etc. before going to hospital. :( I was uncermoniously dumped there and hadn't been able to do the deforestation. How the fucking fuck did bitey do her own toenails though? She's either got the world's longest brush or the world's shortest legs. Own up wench!

ladyG I'm having only about one day a week where it's frighteningly bad (i.e., no fluids down at all) - but mostly it's all good. Feel sick enough to still be diffed iykwim. I love your birth story - pls to explain on CRESH what ARM was like?

macaroonmum · 27/07/2011 14:17

Bitey !!MOG!!!TWINZ11!! would be kinda cool. But it would be even cooler if biteybach were to rock up way, way before minimacaroon

OUUUUUTTT TODAY AND DON'T HANG ABOUT!
that should work.

Alps glad things are good with you and not puking all the time. I didn't get a chance with no1 to do anything because she turned up early and I had awful hairy legs in hossy with her so i made a point of going to the hairdressers, having a pedicure and generally looking after myself a bit this time.

GG great story, did I say you sound wonderful?

owlbooty · 27/07/2011 14:29

MOG!! A show, Bites ?? Surely Biteybach is not actually planning on being one of the 3% or whatever it is that arrives on due date?

Milano I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping that all goes v.v.well and calmly - nowt wrong with De Nile I reckon. Tomorrow there will be snuffling! Hoorah for snuffling!

GG Excellent news re MicroG, she sounds gorgeous and also glad you are okay and that your MWs were luffly and ignored daft consultant overkill - I tend to think that MWs are more sensible than consultants often so am hoping to talk to mine tomorrow for proper advice. Tiny niece has been visiting so I have done a bit of pre-emptive snuffling myself around the hossie drama, babies smell so lovely. Hope also that MiniG is enjoying having his new sis - bet he's really excited about it :)

I can feel Owlet actually pressing on my cervix. Maybe I too should try the shouting technique? The sooner he makes his debut the better, I shall have all manner of shite to deal with if he goes further than 40 weeks and I just can't face it.

MadameBoo · 27/07/2011 15:08

ooh Bitey, how exciting - I guess that means we probably won't get to meet up on Saturday then?

Milano So excited for you and the imminent snuffling.

BarbiesBeaver · 27/07/2011 15:14

OY Owlchick get a move on! Does that help? Glad you have escaped hospital Owl and it sounds like you have a Plan.

A show you say Bitey? Good to see the MiniChomper is behaving nicely. I am disturbed about the tuna pie horror. I will try to forget about it.

I am donning the wetsuit for perverse sexual purposes to have a swim in the sea. It's too bloody cold to risk going in for half an hour just in a swimsuit.

rocketleaf · 27/07/2011 15:29

ohh excited at all this action!! Loads of luck for tomorrow milano and to you bitey whoop!! a show. Hallo my honey, hallo my darling, (sorry thats a bit of a leaf household private joke) Is very exciting!

booty glad you are now home and back to original plan, I think consultants are best ignored (lolz at old bonkers uncle). Sounds to me like you are very in touch with your own body and know whats going on. Stick to your gins!!

geegee you do indeed sounds AMAZE! Totally in awe of someone who can pull out a word like "nomenclature" 2 days after labour. Hope Sprout naps long enough for me to catch up on your birth story (really should be doing something useful like finishing the thank you cards)

score I echo the WTF? at your FIL, although why I am surprised I don't know. Maybe thats how aliens refer to their grandchildren on Alpha Centuri. Hmm

rocketleaf · 27/07/2011 15:30

gins guns. :o But you know, gin might keep the BP low.
