Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LadyGoneGaga · 25/07/2011 14:49

Poor Owlie. Are they going to induce you? It wasn't nearly as bad as I feared you know. Think the midwifes ignored everything in stupid consultant plan. Didn't check sugars once, intermittent monitoring, as active and upright as you could want, dimmed lights etc once in the labour room. Big hugs.

Have had lovely sleep. Iris is very chilled baby so far. Still in hossie at the mo.

MrBitey · 25/07/2011 14:54

Shitty cross post there owl, hope you're ok and not over heating in the hospital. Eyes on the prize, and however you get your hands on owlet will be swiftly forgotten when you snuffle him. Not long until you meet you little break dancer! Ah fuckit have made myself cry again! Now, about these stockings....

have a victoria sponge in the ovenif anyone fancies a bit?

macaroonmum · 25/07/2011 15:17

GG CONGRATS! over the moon for you and your family. Gorgeous name!

Owlie :( fuckity fuck fuck. Have they mentioned what the likely outcome is? My lovely, just go with the so-called flow - whatever's best for baby and you. homebirths are overrated if you ask me.

rocketleaf · 25/07/2011 15:26

oh owlie that's poop but as has been said, you are in the best place in case it becomes a problem. Hopefully its just a blip but best to take no chances eh? pone is right, it's a shame if you miss out on your HB but whatever gets owlet here in the safest manner is for the best.

yey for chilled BabyIris ladymama when do you get to go home?

Seriously? occers I thought everyone knew that wasn't the done thing. Does she live near enough for you to go on a shopping trip with her to choose something together (and do you get on well enough with her?)

BarbiesBeaver · 25/07/2011 16:13

Poor Owl. here is something to cheer you up - my mum got me a mini one of these on Saturday and I thought of you.

Hello Octopus! why can't IL's just behave! Do they live nearby or when they visitcould do some supervised shopping with them?

Just half the sponge please Biter I wouldn't want to be greedy.

Pone you were talking about maternity stuff further up - I got some maternity jeans from Jojo Maman Bebe at the weekend. Their stuff is nice and not too pricey. OH calls them my fat bastard jeans and laughed at them.

Scorpette · 25/07/2011 16:55

Sounds like you're already in snuffle-heaven, GG. Long may it continue :) Kiss her for me!

Owlie, that is crap but I had to induced for PE and had all the interventions and I actually sort of enjoyed it in an odd way, because I knew me and baybee were in the best place and in safe hands. Just keep thinking 'eyes on the prize', my sweet xx

Are MILs supposed to get you summink, then? Just over 2 hours to go; can't wait Hmm Poor old Mr T has puked mightily today (now wracked with guilt it might be badly heated chilled expressed milk, waaaah), so he might get rid of them that way for me later. Would it be very wrong to loosen his nappy just before they get here? Grin I shall be imagining such delights to help me bite my tongue during the inevitable subtle digs at the age gap between me and TYF, ie such a shame I'm too old to produce 8000 GC for them (to feckin' ignore, cunts), etc. Like we want loads, anyway, tchuh.

And breathe.

PS It is so hard when someone wants to get you something you don't need and they'll waste their ££ but it looks really grabby to demand an alternative, aaaargh!

Medee · 25/07/2011 17:06

Oh, Owlie, what a shame, hope you are OK.

I do love that Owl onesie - pity/ good job I don't need to buy anything else for EA at the moment!

Ocarina · 25/07/2011 17:40

Scorps you'd be worried if your ILs suddenly came over all interested and helpful..... At least they've finally decided to make the effort to meet MrT, irritating as that makes life for you. Maybe they'll fall in love with him and at least decide to make a bit more effort.

I'm trying to get TH to deal with MIL in a grateful but firm but not seeming grabby kind of a way. I may be expecting too much.... To be honest I just don't see life in the same way as she does so tend to spend a lot of time being bemused by her over all kinds of things. Mostly she's lovely, but baffling, and TH and the rest of his family just tend to let her have her way on stuff because it's easier so I think the fact that I stand up to her on stuff bemuses her. They're not close enough to easily arrange a joint shopping trip, and given their general inability to arrange to come and visit and expectation that such things can be sorted at a few hours notice I can't see it happening before the baby arrives. So hopefully she's not busy taking offence and will be happy to buy clothes or whatever at a later date, which she can go out and choose to her heart's content.

Truffkin · 25/07/2011 18:20

I am sorry for not being here for a gazillion years, am very conscious of absence and just popping in to offer my mahoosive congrats to Ginny and GeeGee for new baybee birthing, welcome to the world am happy snuffling to you all.

Am trying to keep up by my entire world appears to be work-related at the moment so sorry for not making any insightful comments. Am hoping all goes well for you Wol and that the other imminent layers have a decent time of it, but even if not, the end is all worth it!

Hope the ILs visit is not too traumatic Scrope and that once they see the bauty that is MrT they realise the error of their ways

Am very excited for new PESH and will pull my finger out for a better catch up as soon as I can. For now I shall leave these lovely (shop bought) cakes and some de-caff tea for all to enjoy as my penance. I may throw in some erotiviolence next time I'm in the deli, to show you just how sorry I really am.

BrownB · 25/07/2011 18:55

Yay!! Well done GG!! MicroG sounds just fabulous, and glad to hear it all went so well The snuffling sounds wonderful. Grin Grin

I just found out my best friend is 7 weeks pregnant. Am a little Grin about that. She's a tiny bit ancient 18 months younger than me, but can't really invite her on here as it appears to be a bit of an accident.

Wol - I'm sorry about the hospital admittage. That really does suck. I hope you're okay and that what Alps said up there ^ helped...

BrownB · 25/07/2011 19:04

My technology fails seem to be coming thicker and faster these days. I missed all of page 11 when I posted just before. Wol - sadly I have no words of wisdom, so I hope all the ladies above have made you feel somewhat better...

Thinking of you Scorps - hope it goes better than expected. And looking forward to hearing about the expression on their faces when you talk about your anal fissure...! Grin

rocketleaf · 25/07/2011 19:11

imagining scores MIL with a lap full of poop and a face full of puke right now. :o

ay up truff nice to see you if only briefly. don't worry about the absence, once an ESH always an ESH. Hope work calms down soon and you get time to hang out more. And hope all is good pregnancy wise.

lovely BBF news brownie theres nothing like having a RL differ buddy.

owlbooty · 25/07/2011 20:20

you lot are lush and I luffs you all.
Have spent whole afternoon snivelling pathetically for no good reason as is definitely not pe, thank Fuck, and liver is apparently not about to fall out etc. Mr boots is clearly never going to shag me again having had to put the stockings on me. I have to stay in overnight as they have no explanation for the random bp rise but it seems to have dropped a bit so not looking at induction but possibly meds tomorrow. Hospital food is shit btw. Pliz send emergency cake.

owlbooty · 25/07/2011 20:25

ps. Scorps yes, loosen the nappy! Unleash hell! And try not to laugh.

rocketleaf · 25/07/2011 20:48

Tis good news bootsmanouver apart from the overnight stay and the shite food.

starcuntmole · 25/07/2011 21:01

Hooray for Babies foxcub and Gagagoogoo (can't believe we missed that one before Wink) !!!!!! Much happy snuffling to you and respective fathers.

cockinghell fantastic news!!!

AlpinePony · 26/07/2011 07:44

owl if they're going to give you magnesium today it might be horrid. But they won't leave you and the worst will be over in about 30 minutes. It might make you puke/shake and be very frightened (I panicked) but 'it too shall pass'. I'm sorry if this sounds scary, I'm just trying to give you a head's up about what might happen today. BTW 'white coat hypertension' is well known. :(

laurielou · 26/07/2011 08:41

Oh poor you Owly

As Alps said, I too had my dreams of a sneezy waterbirth dashed by BugBoy remaining breach, & ended up on consultant ward, last minute elective c-section, 2 overnight stays without Mr Loz, at a hospital that I'd heard loads of bad reports about. Absolutely everything that I didn't want & feared the most. And my experience was just fine. More than that actually, it was a good experience. Honestly, if someone had told me beforehand that would be my birthing experience I would've disolved into a complete mess. But the whole thing was so fab that BugBoy is not quite 7 weeks old & I'm already wondering when I can start for no 2 Grin.

Seriously the only downside I didn't react great to anaesthetic & was quite sick (could've been the hossie food). So I'd ask for plenty of anti-sickness drucks, just in case.

Oh, hossie food is rubbish though, Mr Loz took many trips to the chocolate vending machine. Medicinal purposes to keep my strength up Wink.

Good luck with the IL's Scorps!

MrBitey · 26/07/2011 08:43

Good luck today boots hope they send you home soon.

I am officially beached. The cat and I are in bed under a fan and I have no plans to move. Now, which ofyou schlaaaags stole my cake?

LadyGoneGaga · 26/07/2011 08:54

Hope all goes well, Booty love. Will be thinking of you. And.hospital food is vile. Get Mr B to bring some stuff in.

Come on Bitey Bach. Your Mummy is ready to meet you now.

Good night. She fed at 11, slept til 3. Wouldn't feed though and the we mostly slept til morning. Having a big feed now though. We have the rudiments of a system. I feed and MrG does nappy changes. MiniG came in at 6 so was all of us in bed together!

MadameBoo · 26/07/2011 10:08

Mega fast sneak on to say good luck to Boots and a quick smooch too.

Ariesgirl · 26/07/2011 12:27

Hurrah for GeeGee and her little one! Lovely name and can't wait to see pics.

Owly my luvver, you are in the best place, though it must be horrid. Listen to wise Alps. And here's another tale (which I hesitate to regale here but will anyway) - my friend tried doing it all without drugs the other day(s). Silly hippy girl that she is. She's a teeny tiny thing and the eventually sunroofed baby girl was nearly 10lb. She is all hippily concerned about being a "failure". What nonsense!! Take what's offered, my lovely. Good luck xxx

Ginfox · 26/07/2011 15:25

Afternoon laydeez. Foxcub is sleeping (finally) in her luffly Moby, so I have both hands free to type. Huzzah! She is so far quite chilled out during the day, but fractious at night, so I basically don't know which way is up at the moment. But she is completely gorgeous so I don't care.

Haven't even tried to catch up properly, but will try soon.

Boots hope they get you sorted. And if you get desperate, the nurses on nightshift will almost definitely have a stash of takeaway menus.

In case I forget, Happy Due Date for tomorrow Bitey. Hope you have something nice planned.

Good luck Scorps. Shame Mr T will only be puking milk over MIL. The worst baby-puke encounter I have had was following yoghurt. It properly stinks.

Medee · 26/07/2011 15:43

aww, it is lovely getting all these new baby updates.

Medee · 26/07/2011 15:46

anyone see Panorama last night? Was pleasantly surprised to find we have the right number of MWs to births in Scotland, and I certainly had the same one all the way through my labour. Waters broken by one MW just before the shift change, then Audrey was with me all the way to theatre and delivery, till just before the next shift change. Though I bet the MWs here probably still feel under-resourced.
