Is there ANYTHING more annoying than doing a google search for signs of labour and getting:

"these symptoms could mean that labour is just hours or several weeks away"

Well, thanks google, I'm 39+1 so it's obviously somewhere between that timescale! I think I'm going to go mad this week...............Confused

Congratulations to all the new mummies!! I absolutely can't wait now!
Xxx

CappuccinoCarrie · 22/08/2011 09:42

Congrats lilyraesmum!

Still pregnant here :( I've never been this pregnant before Confused

rugby I'm in a similar situation with DH's work - we all thought he'd be having last week off as paternity and he's waiting til he's back to start a new project for a client, but here we are still pg and he's back in work again still not starting the project because at any given point he'll be taking at least a week off!

The post natal thread is here for whoever was asking

I went for a long walk last night and had painful BH from 11pm to 1am but they were never closer than 10mins apart and weren't increasing in duration or pain, and eventually stopped altogether when I got up to get a bowl of cereal. I've been having painful BH overnight for nearly a week now, I'm as sore as if I'd given birth, but sadly I've still got to go through that!

davidtennantsmistress · 22/08/2011 10:09

annie - yes i just googled as have mega increased discharge atm and it says the same, althou m.w's just said i might not have a show/plug as it's my second, still no hicks just a tonne of discharge - joy.

cappy - feeling your pain. :(

JenniferYellowHatsRedLingerie · 22/08/2011 10:41

Congrats nhan, Anu and lilyrae :) well done!
davidtennantsmistress there's 3 cakes left? I'm very disappointed in you, I would have had those eaten by Saturday. I'm going to have go give you a "must try harder" I'm afraid Grin
Annie, have you not learnt yet in the last 39 weeks - Google is NOT your friend! Step away. Put it down. Eat some cake.
Well, I'm now that pregnant I keep forgetting. This baby's never coming out. (40+5) Diddly squat occurring - bh intermittent, but quite strong; no show or anything, not even any discharge to note. Bollocks to it. Was supposed to be having sweep today but 40wk bloods came back with very high white blood cells so mw came round yesterday to collect a swab and urine sample from me to test for UTIs, strep b and whatever else they test for. Results on Wednesday, so I'll get the results and see what mw thinks and then have a sweep. Am now wrestling with induction dilemma - do we wait until I'm 40+14 (if I get that far, obv) and have her born on 1st Sept so she's in the next school year, or just for it when it's offered? It's a thinker...
Good luck for everyone still waiting (and waiting, and waiting :))

MrsChemist · 22/08/2011 11:09

Cappucino, I've also never been this pregnant. Fed up. Although if he's not here by the end of tomorrow, I've decided he has to stay in until Sunday. It's DS's 2nd birthday on Friday and we are having a wee party on Saturday.

Sod's law says they share a fecking birthday and all my plans will be scuppered.

Teladi · 22/08/2011 12:00

Haha Annie I could have written that post myself! Thanks to everyone who offered sympathy after my last post. I'm still having bowel trouble at least once or twice a day. Late pregnancy is so glamorous...

Missing my DH today, in the back of my mind I thought I might have the baby or at least have it in progress :) before he had to go back to work this morning. But no sign of her so far. Today was my original due date (prior to having scans etc) but think I need to bear in mind that officially I am only 39+2.

RugbyWidow7 · 22/08/2011 12:55

Hey Jennifer, I completely understand your dilema as it's something that has been concerning me too. I'll be 40+11 on 1st Sept, so if possible do I wait? I'm sure it's a good idea for the child, but with all my friends giving birth now it will have to watch all it's little friends go off and start school a year ahead. It is a thinker!

Just hope things happen naturally...and soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CappuccinoCarrie · 22/08/2011 14:37

DS and i have been having the exact same discussion about Aug/Sept babies as I'll be 40+14 on 1st Sept (no I won't, I'll be cuddling my newborn...right?!!)
The problem is it depends on the child - DD has been ready for school since she was about 3.6 and she finally gets to go this september at 4.5. DS however is nearly 3 and there's no way he'd be ready for school next sept, I'm really glad he's a sept baby and has therefore got another two full years before he starts. I've read 'raising boys' recently and the psychologists there were saying that boys develop slightly later than girls and their neurones join up later, and generally boys aren't ready for school until a full year later than girls, although of course our school system doesn't allow for that.
No more twinges yet today, but they generally come in the evening/night. Going to catch up on some zzz on the sofa while DS naps and DD watches yet more cbeebies Blush

littlemissw · 22/08/2011 17:45

A yet to be named, utterly scrumptious, 8lb 1oz little boy finally decided to make a skin-side appearance on Friday morning, 5 days after his due date.
He loves boobies & has not been left alone by his two doting sisters. I've put a little picture up. :)

I've not had a chance to catch up with everyone else's news yet, but hopefully will get a few mins very soon. Congrats to all who've had their little bundles arrive in the meantime and good luck to those still waiting. x

CappuccinoCarrie · 22/08/2011 18:24

littlemissw he is gorgeous, well done you!!

majormoo · 22/08/2011 18:30

Congrats littlemiss.and of course all other recent arrivals.

Wanted to sympathize with those of you overdue. Ds3 was due on 30th July and arrived 10th Aug and I was mightily fed up by then. Walked loads the evening before I had him and had some bubbly so they are my tips for labour!

If my due date had been towards the end of august, I would have gone with the chance to get to 1st September if possible despite being overdue. It is a big advantage for school.my DS1 is 5 in oct and I am so pleased he had the extra year at nursery. Mind you to contradict myself my august born daughter has been fine so have to hope my august is ok too

Ds3 is lovely but I am recovering from vile mastitus so had a few tough days last week.

littlemisslozza · 22/08/2011 18:38

littlemissw congratulations!

I was due with DS1 on 21st August 4 years ago, ended up being induced on 1st September and he arrived just after midnight on the 2nd. I too remember thinking that I might as well get into the new school year if I was going to go overdue as well so was quite pleased when he was born in September. Fast forward 4 years however and he is more than ready for school and would be absolutely fine if he had to start this year. That's not to say I'm not happy to have him at home/pre-school for another year but it means I'm no longer as worried about DS2 and DS3 who both have August birthdays and will start soon after they are four. I know they are all different but if they are like DS1 then they'll be fine.

KTisPG · 22/08/2011 19:33

congratulations to the new babies.

I'm definitely not going to have any interventions before 1 September if baby doesn't arrive before then on it's own. Our preschool allocates places by age starting from Sept and as it is always over subscribed if bubba comes in August s/he is almost guarranteed not to get in. My next MW ap is on 31 August and she has already offered me a sweep, but ap is 2.15 and I think that is too early in the day to risk it :o

Annie456 · 22/08/2011 23:29

Yeah my midwife offered me my 40 week + appointment on 31st august and I told him I could do 1st sept instead!! I only need to go 4 days over but that means being PG for another 10 days...and DH having to sleep on an airbed...at the end of the day it's not like we can just 'cross our legs til sept' so what will be will be..,,

carrie ive been reading the "raising boys" book too and it makes me angry!! It's so derogatory towards boys, almost saying "if only boys were girls....but they're not so here's how to deal with it." did anyone else feel like that??!

Annie456 · 22/08/2011 23:30

Ooh congrats littlemiss he really is gorgeous! Keep us posted on the name Smile

neverlookback · 23/08/2011 07:41

congratulations littlemissw he is perfect xxx
40+3 here, had a very fed up few days, have eaten two whole pinapples, walked, took all my raspberry leaf tea capsules, had hot curry last night and sex but nothing!!!
so im giving up and pretending im not due till next week now! having sweep on thurs but they have never worked for me before, if i go as over as last time i have another 10 days to go!! think i will just ask them to book me in for induction sooner rather than later, i only needed a little push last time and then it was all natural so i didnt have to have the horrendous drip, im thinking i might be the same again, my body just doesnt seem to know when to let go!
theres a good chance mine will be a sept baby too! so all 3 will be older ones in the class!!!

RugbyWidow7 · 23/08/2011 08:25

Morning. 40plus2 today. Wondering if this baby will ever put in an appearance naturally as the symptoms and signs are easing up!

Congrats littlemiss. And thanks for giving your schooling experiences. That's really interesting about how yours have been. I'm still giving it a lot of thought and wondering now if I should accept the sweep that I've been dying for. It's quite a tricky problem as I just don't know what effect it could have on or little one.

Hmm...

davidtennantsmistress · 23/08/2011 08:43

cappy - don't worry about that, DS has had boomerange on the last two days for scooby do. Blush we must get out to the castle today we must we must lol.

annie - fingers crossed for you.

littlemiss - well done you congratulations. he's gorgeous. any luck with a name yet?

jen - :o I know I know but we did finish those and have done some more, however to be fair they're not that good so DP has taken them to work on account of them only being good enough for the boys to eat lol.

ref the raising boys book, i've not read it DP has though, i've read other books that state the differences between girls & boys, and tbh I find that it's more about the specific child. DS is very much a boys boy -to get him to concentrate for more than 5 minutes you need to sit next to him & focus him, or let him have a damn good run about for half hour first, he prefers being outside playing/climbing/doing the boy stuff than he does the writing, however he'll happily paint/be creative/do science & maths till the cows come home when focused. besides apparently boys don't activly want to learn etc until 7, so all the time he's doing ok I figure we know our kids so leave em be - blinking professionals :o lol.

daisysair · 23/08/2011 08:50

40+9 today. another sweep (2nd, 1st she couldn't reach cervix) tomorrow if bean doesn't come before along with induction booking for weekend... am just going to go with the flow and get to meet this baby by the weekend at the latest :D :D :D

lol when TTC my hubby said he didn't want an august baby (he's one) and look what's happened, but am def not up to going that overdue (head's completely engaged and it isn't a small baby either)

RugbyWidow7 · 23/08/2011 09:03

Good luck with this sweep Daisy. Can I ask Daisy, did your mw look at your cervix on your 40 week app? I'm seeing the mw today (40+2) and wondering whether she'll have a look so I know more about what my cervix is up to.

I've decided to get in the car today and get out and about to see people and stop dwelling on it as this moping around isn't doing me any good! If my waters break in public, hey ho!

JenniferYellowHatsRedLingerie · 23/08/2011 09:23

40+6 today. Woke at 4.30 in horrific pain with my pelvis, couldn't get back to sleep, so got up and have realised I'm far too interested in Kate Silverton's pregnancy (her off Breakfast on BBC1- you could see the baby kicking this morning, and she keeps touching her bump; I got all teary for her then vengeful thoughts of just you wait till you're as pg as I am!) I think I'm going a bit mental with this waiting...the highlight of today is going to be repacking the baby's stuff into the fantastic changing bag we've been given. Whoop whoop. Been getting very strong BH for last 24 hours. DH came home last night and said "are you still pregnant?" Grin then when he left for work this morning told me he's coming home for lunch and he wants to meet his daughter then. Muppet :)
Ok, something I found out yesterday: you'd have to eat about 17 whole pineapples in one sitting to get it to do anything. So don't go making yourself sick on them!
Urgh, I can't raise any enthusiasm for anything today. I'm going back to bed.
Congratulations littlemiss, btw :) xx

davidtennantsmistress · 23/08/2011 09:35

good luck daisy for today.

ruby - my m.w said I could ask for the sweep today and they may do it - wouldn't give a def answer as she's on holidays but said if not give it 2 days and then they would do it. but also added it will only work if the baby's ready to come out - I don't care what the baby's ready for i'm bloody well ready for it to come out!

jen - I love the way these men think it's on demand. :o how's the cake front looking today?

we'd better get dressed, DS & I are off to the cinema and then a nice walk home (well 2 mile hike, unless i'm nice and we catch the bus from about half way)

Annie456 · 23/08/2011 10:19

good luck daisy sending all the vibes your way.
jennil that really made me laugh :o) DH no longer cares about the aug / sept thing, he just wants to finish work!!!

Question about sweeps...i have a male midwife and am next booked to see him on 1sr sept when i'll be 40+4. i didnt get the impression he would be offering me a sweep but what would happen in that situation? i know i shouldn't have an issue with him being male but i really do!!! can i just ask "is there a female midwife who could give me a sweep"? ir is that really bad???
x

alibaba76 · 23/08/2011 11:29

never this is my first baby and it appears sweeps don't work for me either - had 2 now and nothing apart from more show. I am booked for induction on Friday although MW said that they may bypass the gel because I'm already soft and 1cm dialated, so they may be able to skip straight to breaking waters. I am hoping that will be enough, really don't like the thought of the drip/monitor and all the other interventions that could follow. In fact I am hoping that it will all happen naturally before Friday, but who the heck knows!! Feel very demoralised and SICK of people asking (or asking in a veiled way - like "you must be very frustrated" i.e. have you not had that baby yet) fuck off to you all that's what I feel like saying!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am definitely de-friending some folk on facebook soon.

Annie I got 1st sweep at 40+4 although I was told 2 weeks before that I would be offered it then. I think you are within your rights to ask for a female, it's your body and you need to feel comfortable. The more relaxed you are the easier it will be anyway, so from that point of view, ask for a female.

Rugby My MW only commented on my cervix when she did sweep at 40+4 and 41+1. She was able to tell me first that it had started to open and at 2nd that I was 1cm. She didn't look though, just felt.

So 40+2 today and feeling very low about it. Lets hope things happen before Friday. Anyone else still waiting - I feel for you xx

JenniferYellowHatsRedLingerie · 23/08/2011 11:38

DTM today on the cake front we have chocolate brownies, chocolate marble cake and my perennial fave, caramel shortbread. Altho weirdly, I looked at the cakes just now as I'm a bit peckish and felt sick, so I had some toast and an apple. I'm really going mad for fruit, and I don't eat fruit much (lots of veg, not much fruit). Am NOT going to spend next 4 hours analysing whether this may be a "sign"... :) must distract myself with cash in the attic Grin
Yep, my DH is v amusing. Bless him. I know he's going mad with the wait as well, but knows how much it's winding me up so he's staying v calm for me and keeping me in good spirits. He's v good at texting me stupid stuff from work as well, today's theme is "people who look comedy pregnant as well" - cue pictures of Mr Greedy and Homer Simpson.
OMG I'm so boooooored. Someone tell me a joke?!
