Teladi · 17/08/2011 16:49

Good luck lilyraesmommy :) Come back and let us now how you get on.

Loving the pics people have been sharing. Very attractive offspring from this thread!

Tomorrow night I am going for a meal with all the ladies from my office - I have been on mat leave for a few weeks now but this was the first suitable date. I had had visions of not being able to make it due to having a newborn but I think that was probably wishful thinking at 38+5. Though I still have more than 24 hours to produce one. :o

MrsStevo · 17/08/2011 18:38

lilyraesmommy - GOOD LUCK for tomorrow! Looking forward to hearing of your little boy's safe arrival.

Teladi - you're almost guaranteed to have your baby tonight/tomorrow now you've made plans!! I finally had a week of socialising to do on my mat leave and the babies decided they weren't interested in that and made their early appearance. It is all about making plans so that they can be scuppered!

MrsChemist · 17/08/2011 20:57

Aye, MrsStevo as soon as you make any plans, they will arrive.

My cat is being a bigger arsehole than usual today. I wonder if he knows something...

sisterT · 17/08/2011 21:17

Hi all - hope all has been well over the past couple of days - will try to catch up fully tomorrow.

Meredith Pearl Frost arrived on Monday. Start-to-finish time was a rather speedy 2hrs 50min!
x

littlemisslozza · 17/08/2011 21:21

Congratulations sisterT, that's lovely news!

Good luck lilyraesmummy, look forward to hearing your news.

Sending labour vibes to everyone else!

MrsChemist · 18/08/2011 09:01

Congratulations sisterT and good luck lilraesmummy, hope all went well.

Still no baby. Wouldn't be bothered if the midwife hadn't told me she thought I'd be early.
Had an awful nights sleep too. Kept thinking I was having contractions.
I'm uncomfortable and frankly, fucking pig sick of being pregnant. Get out baby! I want to meet you!

alibaba76 · 18/08/2011 10:37

Had sweep today - wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Head fully engaged and I've actually started to dialate already!!! She says it was perfectly placed for the sweep and thinks it will be successful, so fingers crossed. She reckons the baby has no hair (she could clearly feel the head)!!!

Teladi · 18/08/2011 10:48

Yeah for dilation! (And that is a phrase I never thought I'd say :)) Sounds like it won't be long for you!

Congratulations sisterT!

I woke up in the night a few times last night because I dreamt that the baby was coming. Hmm I do realise that if the baby was coming I wouldn't still be sleeping but in the middle of the night it's not always that clear cut...

KTisPG · 18/08/2011 11:30

Hi everyone and congrats to new mummys.

I had my mw appointment yesterday and all ok. Don't have to see her again for 2 week but am not sure I'm pleased or not about that. Can I really last another 2 weeks??? I'm also having problems sleeping and walking - my back and hips are absolutely killing me.

Am torn between wanting it out NOW and wanting to have a September baby for the new school year Grin

Annie456 · 18/08/2011 12:10

That's exactly my dilemma KT..off to see midwife now and part of me hopes he says the head isnt all that engaged and I have a while to go...any other time of year I'd be doing anything to get the baby out but trying to wait til Sept! I'll get a 31st august baby just to serve me right I reckon! DH has told me I have to get over it and wish the baby out (he's ready for paternity leave apparently!!) x

neverlookback · 18/08/2011 13:07

congratulations sisterT, im loving all these baby pictures, all absoutly gorgeous.
Ive just had my midwife app and the baby is fixed hooray so has started to engage, hoping its a sign of things to come, ive also rang about some acupuncture but was told that there is not actual evidence proving that they can bring labour on so not really worth trying, she said the only 2 things that do have some truth in them is fresh pinapple as that contains progestagladens and sex either with dp or by yourself! as orgasm can release oxyitocin and i will confess that this is how i managed to finally go into labour with DD when i was 11 days overdue, so hey its worth a try !!

CappuccinoCarrie · 18/08/2011 13:31

Congratulations sisterT what wonderful news!
lilyraesmummy we hope you're bonding with your newborn right now!

Well its my due date and I'm neither in labour (as I was with DD) or cuddling my newborn (as I was with DS) so I really don't know what to do with myself. After 9 months of being very careful to do nothing that might aggravate the SPD, I was running, jumping, skipping like a loon at the playground with the DCs this morning, hoping that it would bring on more BH that would eventually turn into the real thing! I've had a couple of really strong BH this morning, but I've been getting them for days. My original due date (by my dates) was tomorrow so I'm trying to be optimistic for then Hmm
The dILs have offered to come up and help with the DCs and I've been very rude and turned them down Blush. I just feel like a ticking bomb, and being watched won't help! And having to look after the DCs is the only thing I have to do right now, its my distraction, so if the ILs come and help then what will I do?!!!

alibaba76 · 19/08/2011 10:33

Nothing happening here and am so depressed - even had a wee cry when I got up. Am just wanting the baby to come so I know everything is ok....

CappuccinoCarrie · 19/08/2011 10:47

Join the club ali. Was woken with painful tightenings in the night but as soon as I sat up it all went away. Sweep in an hour, a bit nervous as I've never needed one in 3 pregnancies, but if it gets things going properly then I'm up for it!

MrsChemist · 19/08/2011 11:24

Still no baby here :( I've posted under childbirth about my night last night, but basically I had loads of really painful contractions that just stopped :(

So. Pissed. Off.

Teladi · 19/08/2011 12:02

We are a grumpy lot aren't we! I can relate. I've had two whole weeks of an upset stomach now, diarrhoea at least twice a day, often more and often having to get up in the night to have it. I can't believe I'm even posting this on the internet but I just want to poo like a normal person!!! I know even that will take a while after the baby comes but at least there will be an end in sight. Blah!

Good luck with your sweep Carrie.

I hope you feel better later alibaba :( Have a curl up with a nice cup of tea.

MrsChemist I am off to read your thread now.

Teladi · 19/08/2011 12:09

I've just seen that RugbyWidow is also having a dreadful time of it... I hope this is the start of things for you RugbyWidow and not just a nasty bug. My stomach problems don't sound as bad as yours and I am ok most of the time (so I now feel bad for moaning) I think mine is just a 'very very pregnant' thing rather than a potential bug.

CappuccinoCarrie · 19/08/2011 12:53

Just had my first ever sweep...really wasn't too uncomfortable cervix is still posterior and long, but soft, and the mw was able to sweep right round the baby's head. When I said about lots of tightenings over the last 4 days but no regularity to them, and having been woken in the night with painful BH the mw said "stop start" and she and student mw both said "third baby!". Oh joy.

Teladi · 19/08/2011 14:54

I hope it has some effect Carrie! My mw told me at my appointment on Tuesday that I can have a sweep at my 40 week appointment (assuming baby is not early) if I want. I was thinking I would maybe wait until my 41 week appointment (assuming again that baby doesn't show) but maybe I'll just get it done. Not sure.

KTisPG · 19/08/2011 15:28

Sending sympathy vibes to all. I hope that's not right about 3rd babies Carrie - I don't fancy that at all.

I had to get up 7 times for the loo last night! What's that all about??????? and how is anyone supposed to get any sleep in between weeing???? Just had a lovely nap though so feeling a bit better.

Annie456 · 19/08/2011 18:24

I'm utterly pissed off with my midwife..I had a high bump pain on one side and I mentioned it to MW at my 38 week appt yesterday-he tested urine and BP to rule out pre-eclampsia and I passed with flying colours, but advised me to go to the 'day assessment unit' to get checked over by a doctor-he's a very defensive midwife and will always suggest I'm seen by someone else to cover his arse. So I waited for 7 hours to be seen by a doctor who couldn't determine any problem and wrote me a prescription for bloody paracetamol!! I just burst into tears and said I'd been waiting for 7 hours and was hungry and exhausted and wanted to go home-she felt awful and took me to the fridge and loaded me up with sandwiches for my taxi home. I'm so annoyed that my midwife sent me-they didn't even listen to the baby! 7 freaking hours!!!!

Been to hold a newborn today which I hoping will kick start something!

Oh, just wondered, has anyone NOT had the strep B test?? I didnt know anything about it and am now 38+5 and worried I've left it too late!
X

Teladi · 19/08/2011 18:54

I don't think I have had it - I have not been offered it as far as I know.

CappuccinoCarrie · 19/08/2011 19:44

I've not been offered or had a strep B test.
teladi I'd heard horror stories about sweeps but honestly it was like a smear test only without the 'scratchy' feeling.
KT I've heard all sorts of things about third births being unpredictable and very different to the previous two and to any subsequent ones. Having had two fast labours once they got going I'm really hoping that's not true for me!
Still feel generally crampy and period painy. Had one painful tightening at about 6pm but I was lying down at the time and that's the only time they hurt. This has been going on since Tuesday so I doubt it means labour is particularly imminent.
annie what a rubbish experience, poor you! If you still feel sore I'd go to GP - my first thought was UTI as my DD had one recently and had pain under her rib on one side.
