neverlookback - you have all my sympathy. I am in a similar, flea-ridden, boat. During the 2 weeks I was in hospital with the girls, our house became flea infested (we have a cat... and she brings home friends when we're not around). I was gutted but thought we'd got on top of them before the girls actually came home. Sadly not. I have found fleas in our bed, on our sofa, in the girls' bed and, I am very ashamed to say, on Sophia's head one morning. I bawled. Fortunately touch wood neither of the girls appear to have been bitten yet, and DH obviously oozes natural flea-repellant, so I am the only one who is being eaten alive. Have just ordered a carpet steamer as apparently that is the trick for killing them off and killing their eggs as well. DAMN YOU FLEAS!!!

More importantly - Good Luck jspark!!! Looking forward to hearing your news!

LifeOfKate · 15/08/2011 17:30

Congratulations all who have had babies :o

I'm 40+5 and still pregnant... I was induced at 40+12 with DS though, so didn't really expect any different this time. I had a sweep a couple of hours ago, things are feeling a bit uncomfortable down there, but nothing worth getting excited about. Have induction booked for next monday morning, so at least there is an end in sight :)

alibaba76 · 15/08/2011 18:47

never I sympathise, I treated my cat for fleas a couple of weeks ago as I saw one in the house. Horrible things. They can't live on humans though (I mean they can't survive on humans) but you will get the occasional bite, so don't worry too much. Sounds like you've done what you can and I think it takes about 24hrs for them to die off after the animal's been treated anyway.

Can't help with the threadworms though.

lilyraesmommy · 15/08/2011 20:00

hi guys need some advice i have had bad back ache for the last few hours and now i got cramping in my one leg not sure if this is the start of early labour ????? any ideasx

lilyraesmommy · 15/08/2011 20:01

im 39 weeks tomoz x

CappuccinoCarrie · 15/08/2011 21:02

DH reminded me of the contraction master website we used for timing contractions last time, it provides some entertainment and helps pass the time if nothing else! this might result in your DH lunging ninja-style at the keyboard declaring "I am the contraction master!" at inappropriate moments...sorry!

Lol at the first 6 weeks being 'leaky' - sooooo true, leaking from places you didn't know could leak Blush. And the sweating!

Well baby seems to have been obedient as there's only 3 hours left of our wedding anniversary and I'm not in labour, so we won't have to share our anniversary with a child's birthday for the rest of time, well done baby!

I've had quite a few tightenings over the last few days, but no regularity to them or sense of them building up to anything, but it feels like my body is gearing itself up which is fine by me. I'm due on Thurs and have a sweep booked for Friday if its needed.

lilyraesmommy it sounds like you're in a similar boat to me - body is doing some of the right things to get ready for labour, but isn't there yet. I can assure you you'll know when you get a contraction though as it'll stop you in your tracks!

Loving the birth stories and the names. We had a great chat about names while out for our anniversary meal last night, so we at least have a sensible shortlist now!

KLou111 · 16/08/2011 08:28

Sounds like you're getting there Rugby, my body cleared itself and I just knew then what was coming. My back didn't really ache at first, just the tightenings, but as soon as I put tens on it seemed to go in my back too.

Lillyrae sounds promising!!!

We decided to call our gorgeous bundle Euan James Gameson, and he is doing fab. (James is DH middle name, he wasn't bothered about using his middle name until he got here, now he's totally in awe of his new son :) )
Got home midday Sunday in the end, paed did checks at 9ish, student MW who helped deliver came to see us at 9.30ish and was miffed we were still there so my notes were put to the top, and by 11 we were told we could go :)
Feeding very well, no shortage of milk my end, I changed 5 times yesterday!! And have 3 pads on each side, 2 super absorbant and 1 washable!!
Euan sleeping well at the mo, and only woke once in the night Sunday, at 3:30am, for nappy change and feed, back down at 4am, we had to wake him at 8:30am!!
Last night not as settled, up twice for feed at 2:45 and 3:35, then up at 6 and didn't bother going back to sleep so came downstairs with him to give DH a bit of sleep (he's not down yet lol!)
Love him to bits, best thing we EVER did. Never thought a love like this was humanly possible!!
Parents are still around, staying in a hotel down the road (which I feel so bad about, but they didn't want to be in our way, which makes sense), and have been a god send, mum been helping with feeding etc, and checked my stitches as feeling sore but all OK.
Dad been keeping DH company in the meantime.
Love love love LOVE being a mum!!!!!!!

awww klou he is so cute! he looks really like his 4d scan pics, how cool is that Grin

CappuccinoCarrie · 16/08/2011 13:31

How on earth did you hide 8lb 10oz of baby in a bump so small klou?! I've always managed the big-bump-small-baby thing!
Still no movement here, just feel big and well stretched across my tummy!

davidtennantsmistress · 16/08/2011 15:59

when are you due cap? i've got a really tight top half of my bump (the butt I think) seriously hoping it's not going to mean my bump is all baby.

littlemissw · 16/08/2011 16:01

Fantastic to hear all the lovely birth stories & lol at the leaking from everywhere for the first 6 weeks. Too true! :)

I feel so sorry for you never! Nursery/school & threadworms go hand & hand, are simply dreadful and can be a real pain to get rid of. I've taken to giving my kids tablets as a matter of course during the school term I hate them that much. Being obsessive about hygiene for the next 6 weeks will help to get rid of any remaining eggs ... as if you haven't got enough to do already! Apparently garlic & raw carrots can help, and I've read Vaseline around the anus at night also apparently deter them from laying eggs & therefore breaks the cycle. May be worth a go if you do end up with symptoms. (I go itchy just at the thought of them.. grrrr Evil things! LOL)

Well, I'm 40+2 today & absolutely no signs of labour starting. Not complaining though (yet). In fact I'm quite enjoying the calm before the storm. This is probably my last baby, so enjoying all the wriggles inside my bump.

neverlookback · 16/08/2011 16:37

thanks mrsStevo you poor thing still having fleas around with your babies, in 9 years of having my dogs they have had fleas once before, and the sad thing is i know why they have them this time, the bluetits had babies in our nesting box and about 2 weeks ago we got it down to show the kids the nest and clear it out etc and it was full of fleas, they started jumping out into the garden and my dopey english bull terrier stuck her head right in!!! dp got 4 bites last night so he is hellbent on getting to the bottom of it tonight!

as for the bloody threadworms littlemissw, dd has had them a couple of times before they are disgusting, everyone bar me been treated and all bedding teddies etc washed and everywhere hoovered and antibac'd, good job ill prob be late cos it gives me more time to clear this all up!

my baby seems to be quiet during the day and then from about 9pm goes crazy stretching so much it hurts, ive gone past the enjoying feeling it moving to now it feels like an alien trying to get out!!! and when it does these big moves i get sharp shooting pains down below, i think its really pressing on my bladder thats why it hurts a bit!

firwala just had a look at the pics of your little boy Rafiq he is gorgeous x
im still 95% sure ive got a girl in here so ill be really suprised if its a boy, but equally glad if it is, im really not bothered, but i do find my ds far easier than dd!!!

RugbyWidow7 · 16/08/2011 17:20

Never I feel exactly the same as you about the movement - I absolutely used to love it. Now it just feels too much and too big and quite uncomfortable.

Thanks everyone for giving me your experiences! The MWs seem a bit clueless about it which has suprised me as from what I hear, it's pretty common to have a good clear about ahead of labour.

I went to the mw today and my urine show high keytones (sp?) which means my body has started to burn fat as it's not getting enough food / nutrients as I haven't been able to eat since sat because of the nausea / runs. SPent last night on the loo again so hardly suprising really. They've said they'll keep an eye and if things haven't improved on Thurs I may go into hospital for checks. Hopefully I won't have to wait that long!

So amazing to read how happy your posts all are (those who are post delivery and now mums!) - really encouraging. I feel v excited again! Love your pics Klou too!!

CappuccinoCarrie · 16/08/2011 18:05

DTM I'm due on Thursday :) I find that my tightenings start round the bottom of the bump and work their way up. My bump is def all baby, I can make out all the body parts by feeling from the outside!
NLB I totally sympathise about the baby stretching thing, I'm not quite sure what's tightenings and what's baby having a good stretch but running out of room. It goes beserk between about 10 and midnight every night and completely stops me sleeping and totally freaks DH out (and me to be honest!). Hopefully no more than one more night of that though!
My childcare person is back in town later, my friend who's being a second birth partner has her car back from the garage...we're good to go...except DH could really do with going to work tomorrow to finish well and not leave his colleauges or clients in the lurch. I do feel its imminent, bet I don't sleep again this night through excitement/fear!

Hersetta · 16/08/2011 18:44

Finally figured out how to crop and resize photos so have added a couple of pics of Alex to my profile for you to peek at.

MrsChemist · 17/08/2011 10:02

Awwww, those pictures are so cute Hersetta! Grin

Getting sick of BH now. Everything I do sets one off. Going for a wee, changing position in bed, DS sitting on me, getting up
From the sofa. It's a bloody PITA.

Rehune · 17/08/2011 11:44

Love the birth stories and congrats to you all. Will add my birth story too soon. Just trying to sleep when Raya sleeps. Which is a lot. And she is a really good baby so far. Will upload some pics x to you all x

Rehune · 17/08/2011 12:12

I have posted some pictures (finally) Only one of Raya so far. My grandmother keeps saying don't put too many pictures up of her on facebook!

alibaba76 · 17/08/2011 12:17

I am feeling the same about movements as a lot of you. It's just getting a bit much now, and like some of you it's in the evening it starts to go nuts in there. Never kept me awake until now. It's also not nice the pressing on the bladder thing. I am now 40+3 and so ready.

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/08/2011 13:42

Really thought things were starting this morning, was woken by a painful BH at 4am, and continued to have them every 10mins for over an hour, but by 6am everything had died down. They never got closer than 10mins apart and were lasting less than a minute so I knew they weren't the real thing. It was very reminiscent of DD's birth where I lost 3 night's sleep due to painful BH which only hurt when I was horizontal, before things finally got going. I know it means we're heading in the right direction and its likely to come in the next day or two (really hoping for a due date birth tomorrow!) but its so frustrating. In the middle of the night I was formulating my childcare plans and expecting to have had a baby by tea time, but instead here I am still pregnant without so much as a hint of a contraction!
Off to look at all your baby photos on your profiles to remind me that its nearly over and so worth it!

Firawla · 17/08/2011 14:36

awww rehune she is lovely
