Firawla · 27/07/2011 12:25

me too carrie im soo tired! luckily have managed to get ds2 asleep and ds1 busy watching thomas so think i will have to go lie on the sofa myself once i finsihed my cup of rasberry leaf tea, i have just been out to the hospital and almost falling asleep in the waiting room waiting for prescription, then felt like falling asleep on the bus too

just wanted to ask, who is having parents or family coming over to help out when they go into hosp? my mum is going to come to look after ds1 & 2 when i go in, cos ill want dh with me, but im not sure whats the best thing to do with timings like whether to just get her to come up the night before im due to go in, or a few days before to give me chance to relax. cos would be nice to have a little break and rest first, but then in reality its always more work to actually have someone here cos we dont have a huge amount of space, and then little things get on my nerves like enforcing her own way of doing things like washing up and telling me my ways are all wrong (petty i know but it winds me up!) so i dont really know whether its better to just get on with it by myself or what Confused. doesnt live nearby so unfortunately not able to just pop in some days and help out a bit, its either staying over or nothing. so would be good to know what other people are doing, esp those of you with other small kids aswel

aStarInStrangeways · 27/07/2011 12:37

Carrie DS and I only got dressed about an hour ago Blush

Firawla we're dropping DS off at my PIL's tonight after DH finishes work. Bit different though in that since I'm going in for induction tomorrow, we were able to plan more clearly. If I hadn't been booked in, we would have had to call either my folks or DH's when labour started - they both live about an hour away. We don't have any room to have people staying over at all, no spare bed or owt, so it would just be a case of them being here while we weren't.

Does your mum help a lot with the boys, or is she more of a 'sit around expecting to be looked after' type? If the former, I'd get her to come a bit early so you can have a break (despite the petty annoyances), but if the latter, leave it as long as possible!

Firawla · 27/07/2011 12:49

im going in for induction aswel so luckily am able to know what day it will be, so could just get her to come over night before if i decided that. she does help with the boys but moreso with the older one rather than with both for me to have a proper break.. so in a way im like if i cant have a proper break i might aswel atleast have my house to my self, but on the other hand she probably woujld take them both off to the park for a bit or something like that..

anyway good luck for your induction!!!!!! tomorrow, so exciting Grin
come and post up your birth announcement here when you get a chance and let us know how it's gone, will be looking out for your news!

Rehune · 27/07/2011 13:29

God I'm so hungry at the moment. DH is at gym and just called to ask whether I wanted anything and I was all demandy and grumpy. And now feel slightly guilty

Firawla My mum flew over from Sri Lanka (and my dad too) We have room which is a relief. Was thinking whether we could afford to stay on in current place on one income but they help out with that as well. My mum is a huuuge help for me. MIL on the other hand....won't go there. When she is around expects to be waited on. So she is temporary banned from premises. Popping round for coffee ends up being 4-5 hours. Can't deal with that. Also DH always in a foul mood after cos she has said something to piss him off. Pity because MIL doesnt work and my mum is a human right lawyer so her taking the time off is very precious to me

Good luck with your inductions guys Tomorrow for you Star - how exciting. When is yours Firawla?

Where is that man with my bagel!

CappuccinoCarrie · 27/07/2011 13:59

Ohhh I'd love a bagel!

Is it hersetta who's having her baby today?

firawla both sets of our parents live the other end of the country, 5 hours drive away. The ILs offered to come up the week I'm due so they're on site as it were, but the idea of having them watching and waiting for me to go into labour was just too awful, so I've politely declined their offer! When things start to happen we'll hand the children over to some friends and ring the parents who will then travel up. At most our friends will have the kids for a day or a night, if DS's birth is anything to go by then I'll already be home from hospital by the time the grandparents arrive, then the DCs will have all the fun of their grandparents around. Thankfully being summer we have friends on holiday who are happy to have us use their houses to accommodate the grandparents so they don't need to stay with us, which means we'll get a good balance between helpful and in-the-way. I hope....!

Feeling sooo huge and uncomfortable. Is baby really going to stay in for another three weeks?!

majormoo · 27/07/2011 14:01

Good luck with the inductions. I was induced with my daughter and was all very quick and straightforward.
I will get mil over to look after kids once I think labour is kicking off. This worked well before but she is only 30mins away and with both boys I had hours and hours before full on labour began.
Was up with dreadful runs last night and this morn so I am also resorting to cbeebies today. Feel exhausted. Baby is due on sat but for once want it to be late as it is dds birthday on Monday and want that over first.
Foolishly watched panorama the other night. Not a good idea

Firawla · 27/07/2011 14:12

oh that sounds good carrie being able to have them nearby but staying in someone else's house! we do have inlaws house nearby with spare rooms in it but they dont get on that well so wouldn't be able to go for that option.
i've ended up saying to my mum probably weds will be okay to come, i'm going in for induction on the fri. but i have plans to go out on thurs most the day, just cos i want my last chance for a normal day for me and ds1 and 2 and to see friends etc before going into hosp but already mum is saying no no thats not a good idea, your waters will break while your out etc! although i really doubt that as i will be only 38 weeks and has never happened before... oh well i suppose its a mums job to fuss about things isnt it
oh yeh rehune i remember you mentioning your mil :p actually my mil is quite near and will help if i need, i just dnt really like to ask a lot.
ooh is hersetta having her baby today, will be waiting for that news aswel then should be a couple of announcements coming in the next couple of days Grin hope it goes well for her

Hersetta · 27/07/2011 18:24

I'm not sure what the etiquette here is, but Hersetta gave birth to Alex Andrew at 9:37am today, weighing 8lb 12oz. He has an appitite and lungs.
Mum a bit sore and knackered, but okay other than that.
My first & last post here! Hersey out....

aStarInStrangeways · 27/07/2011 18:28

Hooray! Well done Hersetta, congratulations all Grin

Firawla · 27/07/2011 18:36

congrats!!!! great news Grin

JenniL1977 · 27/07/2011 18:37

Babies everywhere! Astar good luck for tomorrow, how exciting!
I've been on maternity leave for precisely one week and I'm bored to tears! The house has never been cleaner, DH is loving the elaborate meals I'm making though!
37 weeks today. This little baby can come any time she likes now... :)
So, am watching excitedly for birth announcements! X

JenniL1977 · 27/07/2011 18:38

Ooh, Hersetta, congratulations!! :)

KLou111 · 27/07/2011 18:46

Congratulations Hersetta!!! woohoo, another lovely bubba!!!

Good luck with all the other inductions!!

With regards parents etc, we live 3 hours from all of them, so they will be coming after bubs has arrived. Neighbours have offered to look after the mutts when I go into labour as she doesn't work and their kids are off on summer hols now and they rarely to out so that's good :)

Been getting BH quite regularly, and had some thick white 'pant snot', quite a lot of, yesterday morning, so rang my mum and she said it may be a show, but maybe not, just keep an eye on what is going on contraction-wise. Well, nothing, booooooooo! Had enough now. Am 38 weeks tomorrow.

Had AN class this morning, was breastfeeding, so DH didn't come, he had a wander round town with his bro and SIL who came yesterday and I think are going tomorrow. There was food market thing on, so that kept them entertained.
Got a moses basket too in the end. Thought we'd better, as didn't want to get caught out if we needed one and didn't have one. Means we can move bubs around the house a bit too cos it's so warm upstairs in the day, and lovely and cool in our lounge at the mo. My bro has bought it so that's nice.
Bubs is regularly getting daily hiccups which is quite amusing!
Been to the beach this aft, which was lovely. Went into Cardigan town first (near the beach we went to) purely to go to the sweet shop they have there. They have EVERYTHING!! Bought 6 quarters of sweets and a jelly foam snake Grin. Well, got to make the most of this 'fat' excuse!!
DH and BIL just took Bella (pup) down the woods for a walk, SIL in the kitchen cooking something Thai, and I'm chilling here, so overall, a lovely day Grin

KTisPG · 27/07/2011 19:31

Congratulations Hersetta Well done!!! Am mainly lurking because too grumpy to post - am working on the old saying - if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all :o . 2 more days of work then I'm on mat leave HOORRRRAHHHHH!!!!

MrsChemist · 27/07/2011 19:41

Congratulations Hersetta!!! Grin

KLou I've been getting more and more BH as well. Bloody irritating, because it puts pressure on my intestines, which then hurt, making me think things are happening. The MW didn't help with talk of me being early. I'm on the look-out for any signs even though I'm 35+5.

I had two moses baskets last time. An old wicker one (that I slept in as a baby) which lived in our room, and a cheap mothercare one that we kept downstairs. They don't take up much room, so I didn't mind using two.

MrsVidic · 27/07/2011 20:06

Congratulations hersetta! I'm v Envy of ppl with inductions/ sections as you don't have the irritating is it happening yet????

Leilandri · 27/07/2011 20:25

congrats Hersetta it's so lovely to log in and see wonderful birth announcements Grin
good luck aStar with your induction, and firawla which must be coming up soon.
could be a show Klou, fingers crossed. Oooh it's all getting soo exciting!!

11 sleeps til I meet my bubba - can't wait Grin

LifeOfKate · 27/07/2011 20:33

Congratulations Hersetta :o

KT - I feel exactly the same and am lurking for the same reasons! Soooo fed up now!

littlemisslozza · 27/07/2011 20:54

Congratulations Hersetta! Great weight and hope you have an easy recovery.

Good luck tomorrow astar.

I'm really counting down now.... (although I make it 12 sleeps including tonight but only 11 days Leilandri, sorry to add one on!) To do list gradually reducing in length. DS2's 2nd birthday is the day before my ELCS so will be busy towards the end of next week making his cake (it will be a tractor as he is ever so slightly obsessed with them) and getting organised for family coming over for lunch, plus getting everything organised for the children while I'm in hospital. DS1 will be 4 on 2nd Sept so have got presents etc as organised as I can too. We are really lucky to have all our parents within 15 minutes drive so they are all taking turns to help with the children during the day while I'm in hospital which is such a help and it is brilliant to have it all sorted in advance.

Awaiting more birth announcements, so exciting!!

bettyboo83 · 27/07/2011 21:02

Congratulations Hersetta! I'm joining the 'fed-up and grumpy' crew today! I feel like a beached whale today and just can't get comfy - not helped by a 3 hour breastfeeding class this afternoon in sweltering heat! Hmm Anyhoo rant over! Hope everyone else is more cheerful!

Teladi · 27/07/2011 22:21

Congratulations Hersetta! Good luck aStar! It's all go here isn't it!

My TENS machine arrived today, really quick service from Nature's Gate. :) Should really get that hospital bag sorted out now... :o

aStarInStrangeways · 27/07/2011 23:44

Thanks all. I am bricking it a bit! :)

Yukana · 28/07/2011 01:38

Update from me, waters have broken. Had a few weird sensations but I don't think the start of contractions yet. Went into hospital, everything seems to be okay, though the baby's movements seem to be somewhat painful!

Going to try and get some rest, will update later!

JenniL1977 · 28/07/2011 07:07

Oooh Yukana that's good. Hope your contractions kick in soon. Let us know how it goes when you can xx

RugbyWidow7 · 28/07/2011 08:08

Congratulations Hersetta and Yukana, how exciting! I wonder how the night went for you....

36+4 today. Feel quite behind a lot of you now as we all get so close!!

Went to the cinema yesterday which felt like a real treat in the daytime and I would highly recommend! We went to see Bridesmaids but missed the start so saw Horrible Bosses instead - very funny and really took my mind off things, even despite the fact that the baby spent the whole time wriggling under my ribs - v uncomfortable. The pick n' mix took a bashing though! Grin

Struggling to drive now too as the baby is so under my ribs, it's really uncomfortable. MW said baby is not engaged yet, so hopefully when it does drop down this will lessen too!

Having a baby shower on Sunday which is very exciting. More cake! Think this baby may come out with a sweet tooth Smile
