Omg! Not surprised it burns tho. Something that size coming out of a v small hole...
Yeh I have one of the pillows. It's ok for getting comfy and that's about it lol.
Any tips for birth then? (wonders if I should look at the reply lol)

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 01/07/2011 20:31

Take all the drugs you can get :o although if you do go for a waterbirth you can only have gas and air. Freeze bottles of water to take, they'll defrost during labour and obviously they will stay cold which is GREAT! Also, go on all fours, my back really started to hurt so i went on all fours and it was way better like that. Take the injection for delivering the placenta, apparantly if you don't it's like going through labour all over again! Erm thats about all i can think of for now lol!

lizandlulu · 01/07/2011 22:08

hiya ladies, melly i cant even remember what i did for my birthdayBlush seems like ten years ago! nothing special anyhow!

i bought both the steawberry gaviscon ones and the fruity rennies, thought i might like them better if i didnt get on with the gaviscon ones, but they seem to be doing the trick for the time being, having to have one every 3-4 hours but its keeping it at bay.

can i just say, i didnt feel the 'burn' when the head came out! i dont know if it was cause i was high on the pethedine or what, but i didnt get the urge to push either. i would have just laid there in a daze all night if the midwife hadnt said' right time to push now' i would have just let the contractions pass without doing a sodding thing! i might just have a very stretchy vaginaHmm not sure i should be proud of that factGrin but i definatly remember being terrified of feeling it crown, but then it wasnt like i imagined at all.

KLou111 · 01/07/2011 22:31

Hi all, just a quick one, will read post later. JUST sat down, been a long day! Finished nursery woohoo!!! Doesn't look too bad if I say so myself. DH just finished putting up the cot. (Still wish we could have had the white though lol!)
Back on tomorrow (maybe, if I can get the house sorted before mum and dad get here) If I don't get on, have great weekends all ::

Iwish · 01/07/2011 22:43

Good tips melly lol. Not too traumatised by reading Grin if you think of any more do share.

Lol about the stretchy vagina Liz!! I tried rennies and it did sod all. Only gaviscon works 4 me.

oooh klou I'll check your pics for the finished nursery. Hope you have a lovely weekend with your mum and dad too

We are going to pic the swing up tomorrow, yey!

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 02/07/2011 01:09

I suppose it must depend on what drugs you have then. I pushed for 18 minutes and they were all involuntary pushes. She came out with the cord wrapped around her neck and body, but in perfect condition :o oh another tip, if possible, have 2 birth partners. Preferably 2 that know each other and get on. I am so glad it wasnt just me and simon, i took my sister too and it was way better for both me and simon, it took pressure off him, meant he could go out the room and not worry i'd be alone, and the pair of them just chatting shit, just lightened the mood if you see what i mean?

lizandlulu · 02/07/2011 09:29

morning people, wow melly 18 minutes isnt long to push! you are so luckySmile
i pushed for nearly 2 hours, lulu also came out with the cord round her neck and they whisked her to the end of the end on the unit thing to work on her, yet all the time i wasnt worried, i just kept thinking 'a girl, i cant believe i have a girl' after thinking all that time it was a boy and never really wanting a girlBlush so i am hoping i do have a more stretchy vaginaGrin

i am off to meadowhall today as we are going to a party in rotherham with my best mate and her hubby, so me and her are going there this morning, and lulu course!, and her hubby and mine are following on after he finishes work.

going to treat myself to some tiffany sunglassas i have seen, mum and dad gave me the money for my birthday to get someSmile

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 02/07/2011 09:49

I know liz, the woman in the room next door to me was there way before me, and we got there at 6.15am, and at 4.15pm when we were walking out the room to go home we heard her midwife say "ok 9cm now, about 2 more hours to go!" Shock am so glad that wasnt me! Her other half was constantly chatting on the phone, like all day! Wow tiffany sunglasses! Posh cow :o have a good time at meadowhell!

KLou111 · 02/07/2011 23:12

hi all.

Nice to see you back Melly, hope Poppy is being a dream for you :) Didn't want to hear about the whole 'it burns' thing, but thanks for sharing lol! Hope you're feeling a lot better and recovering well from the birth. Sounds like you are coping very well too.

Liz Tiffany sunglasses ay? wow! I just have a cheapo pair lol! Hope you had a great party and the heartburn doesn't get you down too much.

Well, had a fab day here. Mum and dad rang yesterday afternoon to ask if they could come last night instead of today. After telling them very politely we were in heaps of mess and weren't really ready for them (which I was gutted about), it turns out they did come last night and stayed at a hotel about 40 miles away so they didn't have such a journey today. Was a lovely surprise as DH left at 9:15 and they turned up a couple of hours later :)
Still wasn't ready for them, I literally just finished hoovering, hadn't had a shower or anything, and I had the mopping to do so mum did it while I had a shower Grin
Been a nice day, and weather been fab. They bought us loads of baby outfits and stuff off their hols, so cute! (and I got a lovely handbag and DH a bottle of Southern Comfort) and it's lovely to have all her knitting, and other things they had for bubs here too :) Starting to feel all real now.

Getting the changing unit Friday morning, so that'll be the nursery done. Feeling sooooooo gutted for DH as out of the whole house, the one room he wanted to do was the nursery, so that's why he built the cot last night so late (as he knew I'd so it otherwise!) Last thing last night, he went into the nursery to have a look and came into our room with the biggest grin, and said he couldn't wait now Grin It's going to be fab!

ha ha melly that woman will be meGrin 1cm an hour my arseGrin

well this weekend has been abit disasterous. me and my mate went to meadowhall yesterday, chris rang to say he wouldnt be coming to the party as he and my dad had had words about the fact that he was ment to be going to the racing to collect some things, and chris hadnt thought about going. it ment losing out on earning some money so he had to go there instead.

now i wasnt too bothered about it, i was iwht friends and i was abit gutted for him that he didnt get to go to the party. lulu was dancing till 10pm, i thought she would be alseep till at least 9am, but no she was wide awake at 7!!! so we went for brekkie and got home about half 10.

chris has been racing today too, i was never going to go, was going to see my dad in hopsital this aft anyway. he has been racing this old one off ambluance thing which he loves as all the shell falls off.

so anyway, my dad rang him to see what was happening and he has only gone and got hurt. he thinks hes broken his bloody elbow. hes going to go to the hospital when he gets home, should be any minuite now.

i am mightily pissed off with him. if it is bloody broken its going to put us right in the shit with this baby and work. plus he is ment to be taking part in a big big race meeting next weekend, had to borrow a friends car and been looking forward to it for months.

i have got the scan tomorrow at half 1 to see if this baby has turned or not and to see what happens next if it hasnt.

aaarrrggghhh it never rains but it pours!

KLou111 · 03/07/2011 23:05

Bloody hell Liz hope Chris' elbow turned out to be less than what you thought?!?!? Hope your dad OK too.

Well been out shopping with mum and dad today. They bought me a lovely dress to come out of hospital with, some lovely black linen crops and 2 tshirts. They also got bubs some baby gros with little slogans on and I got bubs a lovely winnie top and bottoms set, and a Born in 2011 top and booties, and a Made in Wales hat hol! Also got some sheets and a pair of the most CUUUUUUUTEST crocs for bubs!!!!! They are a turquoise sort of colour with little orange straps and an orange tiger on. They were on sale for £1.80 in BHS so mum and dad couldn't resist lol! Oh they are the teeniest things :) just gorgeous!!
So been a full day of shopping, then had a meal on the way home :) Feeling very spoilt :)

Hope the rest of you all OK x

lizandlulu · 04/07/2011 09:51

he got back about half 10 last night, turns out hes dislocated it, not broke it and the doctor put it back in there and then, so hes sore and stiff, but at least its not broken

GruffaloMama · 04/07/2011 14:02

Oh blimey Liz - that all sounds awful. Hope that the baby has turned around.

Klou glad you've had a good time with your folks. Iwish the pelvic floor exercises will help but I would definitely ask for a referral to your local pregnancy/post natal physiotherapist. They know about a million times more about SPD than GPs or even midwives and can recommend specific exercises for you as SPD or Pelvic Girdle Pain affects different people differently. And the sooner you start getting treatment the better.

Melly you sound like you're doing brilliantly. Poppy is gorgeous.

All is good here. We had FIL here for the weekend. I really don't get on with him so was DELIGHTED when he went this morning. I managed to keep my lip buttoned all weekend so feel like I deserve a medal... He really is a royal pain in the a*.

I had a midwife appointment this morning. Had ketones in my urine (sorry if TMI) - she's sent the sample off for more tests. It can be a sign of gestational diabetes but there wasn't any glucose so I think it might be because I didn't eat much yesterday and did the sample before I'd eaten this morning. Baby is back to back, but keeps shifting, and isn't engaged yet.

MadKatz · 04/07/2011 18:50

Hello ladies,

Back from holiday and back to work Sad

Baby's been kicking like mad since we went away which has been lovely to feel. Although every time I put DH's hand on me to feel it, it stopped! Took about a week before he could feel a kick!

Liz hope eveythings alright with Chris' elbow, glad its not a break

Melly Poppy is beautiful. Hope I have an easy birth like yours was! Dreading being in labour for hours!

KLou sounds like you've been mad busy with that nursery.

Had a real surprise when we got back from holiday, my grandad had sent us a cheque while we were away to help out with 'baby things' and its enough to pay off the balance on the travel system in September. And friends have been so generous - we have had a swinging crib and a moses basket given to us which means we can leave buying the cotbed until the January sales!!! Grin

lizandlulu · 04/07/2011 18:57

hiya madkatz glad you had a good time, and so lovely of your grandad to do that for you. my baby stops as soon as chris puts his hand there tooHmm wonder if its trying to tell me somethingGrin

gruffalo i hope its not GD. i have been for the scan today and they took blood which she is testing for GD too. she said that my score from the GD test was borderline so she wanted to test my blood again. i cant help but think tho, so what if i do have GD, its not like it can get much bigger in these last few weeks is it? she said if it does come back as i do have it i will be referred to the GD clinic and will have to take blood sugars everyday and report them weekly, but should be able to manage it with diet. might have bloody had it by the time i get to see someone!

oh and yes its still breechSad the legs are tucked downwards now tho, rather than up near its face, but still bum first. i have got to go a week on wednesday to see if they can turn it. 5pm!

KLou111 · 04/07/2011 19:49

Hi all.
Liz glad Chris's arm not as bad a first thought! Hope bubs moves!

Hope you had a good time madkatz bet it went quick! so nice of your grandad :)

To those that know their baby's sex (i think only *Iwish but can't remember), george Asda has a sale, they had STACKS of clothes for £1, £2, £3, I was totally gutted at that point yesterday that I didn't know the sex where we were thinking about buying loads of clothes in both sexes and selling whatever we didn't use on ebay!

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 04/07/2011 20:51

i know what you mean klou EVERYWHERE had sales on in meadowhall, loads of cheap stuff in mamas and papas but cant buy owt!!

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 05/07/2011 10:43

Wow i bet youre so relieved about chris' elbow liz! Is he ok to that big race at the weekend then? Welcome back Madkatz! I hope you had a fab time although i bet it sucks being back at work now. To be honest I hope everyone has an easy birth like mine, even the midwife was shocked at how quick it was! Although i hope you all have good births without the possibility of a c.section like i had. klou sounds like you had (or having?) a lovely time with your parents, sounds like your bubs is going to be one very spoilt little baby when he/she arrives! Thanks gruffalo, everyone keeps saying how well they think im doing, but its bloody hard work all this night-feeding malarky! By the way liz did you get your tiffany sunnies? Well im so pissed off with my dad right now. He's only decided to sell his boat and move back to cornwall asap! He hasnt even told me himself, i found out via facebook! He is a thoughtless bastard sometimes.

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 05/07/2011 10:47

I really hope the baby moves for you liz, hopefully it will all go well! Madkatz that was a lovely thing your grandad did for you, you're very lucky!

lizandlulu · 05/07/2011 11:57

take it your not close to your dad then? for him not to tell you himself? thats abit crap to find out second hand like that.

yes did get the tiffany sunnies, got lulu a pair of purple raybans too in an offer, she looks dead cool in themGrin

to be honest this turning they are going to try to do sounds awful, but i really want to try to avoid a cesarian. it wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt right at the start of the school holidays, but i cant imagine 6 weeks of recovering while looking after a 5 year old, i know people do do it, but i would like to avoid it if possibel.

the consultant did say yesterday that if it does work they will leave me to go into labour naturally, if it doesnt work, or if it turns back then cesarian would be the best option.

aslo when i was scanned, the lady said it was being awkward and practicing its breathing while she was trying to get measurments. do you think that might mean its getting ready to come out sooner rather than later?

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 05/07/2011 15:35

Oooh get you and lulu in your posh sunnies :o We used to be really close, then he walked out on us and we hardly saw him and we just grew apart really. I like to think we're still fairly close though. I don't know about the breathing thing liz, I would mention it to your consultant though just incase, you dont really want to be going into labour with a breech baby do you? Just remember though, theres always someone else worse off than you, simons SIL will have to deal with 2 bratty hyperactive kids, (one is 7, the other is 3 and half potty trained.), a newborn, a c-section and a hysterectomy.

lizandlulu · 05/07/2011 17:15

if i do go into labour before they get chance to turn it, i spose they will just do cesarian straight away.

i know other people cope and i am probably worrying too much, its just with dad still in hospital and mum going there every day, chris at work all day i am just worrying that it will come at the wrong time.

on the bright side tho, his arm is loads betterGrin think he will be able to race at the weekend.

how are you getting on melly? have you been out and about to show poppy off?

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 05/07/2011 18:35

Don't worry liz, i'm sure everything will turn out fine even if you do have to have a c-section. I'm getting on ok with poppy thanks, it's knackering being the only one who needs to get up during the night but i'm getting used to living with less sleep lol. We've been out quite a lot, near enough every day since she was 2 days old lol! Everyone admires her though :o

lizandlulu · 05/07/2011 20:18

can you sleep in the day when she does? has simon still got time off work?

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 06/07/2011 09:57

No he went back on monday. I need him here though, because i can't wind poppy, whatever i do or however long i do it for she will not burp for me, simon only has to give her back a quick stroke and shes doing massive burps! And as a result of this she always has trapped wind. I do try and sleep during the day when she does but it's hard, i hate sleeping in the day lol! She only woke up twice last night, 12.15 and 4.30 :o
