lizandlulu · 06/07/2011 13:08

wow melly thats good goingSmile

you will soon get the hang of winding her, might be to do with him having bigger hands?? just a thought? lulu would never bring her wind up, then have bellyache cause of it. not niceSad

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 06/07/2011 18:31

no idea why it is. I just can't wind her at all! Thats what happens to Poppy, she can't get her wind up so it ends up trapped and she gets stomach ache and just wants to feed constantly to try to get rid of it. Usually in the middle of the night Hmm

lizandlulu · 06/07/2011 21:44

have you tried laying her face down along your arm? sort of have her head in the crook of your elbow and legs either side of your arm?

GruffaloMama · 06/07/2011 22:36

Oh melly - that trapped wind thing is so sore for them (and hard for you too). DH was always better than me at it too. DS liked it if he was on his back and you kind of 'cycled' his legs round and then sat him up. That and a tummy massage - the health visitor showed us how to do it. I'll try to explain - it started by:

  • DS lying on his back
  • Stroked up from DS's left hip up as far as his lower chest - we did that a couple of times
  • Extended the stroke for the next couple of times in an upside down L shape across his chest
  • For the next two/three strokes made the 'L' into a 'U' by extending the stroke down from the right side of his chest down to his right hip

We'd then sit him up and pat him again and it did seem to help shift it. Or just make us feel better about doing SOMETHING to try to make him feel better :)

Liz how are you? Is Chris's arm okay for the weekend? Any news on the GD? And has that little baby spun round for you yet? Can't remember when you go in for the turning thing? A friend here had it done - unfortunately it didn't work but she said it was worth a try. She recommended some deep breathing stuff to relax during it.

I've not heard from the midwife or hospital about the ketones thing yet so hoping that it just gets forgotten. Have been feeling a bit rubbish today as I've had a cold from DS and think that the last 10 days has just been pretty full on so managed to get a nap this afternoon and feeling a bit better now.

lizandlulu · 07/07/2011 07:53

morning all, hiya gruffalo no not heard anything about the GD test. the more i think about it the more pissed offi am with the midwife. seeing as she psrand it on me, i couldnt think fast enough, she asked if i had eaten in the last 2 hours to which i said ues, then realised that i had had my dinner nearly 3 hours ago, so she said it was a fasting sample as long as i hadnt eaten anything with calories in since to which i said no. then thinking about it after, i didn have 2 strawberry gaviscon tabs on the way. which i know isnt anything, but if its just enough to tip it over the limit, it makes a difference.

yes he is ok for the weekend, his arm is purple, but he says it doesnt hurt much anymore, think its bruising from when it was dislocated, but now its back it its fine.

and no its still not moved as far as i know. i am keeping my fingers crossed that it does work, worth a try i think.i have to go 5pm on wednesday.

hope you have had a good night melly

Iwish · 07/07/2011 13:28

Hello ladies!

melly I'm sure you will get the hang of burping her soon, she's probably sat there thinking 'hehe im going to cause a bit of trouble' lol. Grin

Liz I hope baby moves round for you, maybe he/she is just saving it for last minute lol. Fingers crossed for you anyway.

gruffalo sorry you have a crappy cold, last thing you want I expect! Get a kip if you can and hopefully it'll make you feel a bit better.

klou and madkatz hope you are both ok too :)

Well Im off work this week so have had some nice lie ins and little trips out. Went to sunny north Wales on Monday for the day to see DPs dad. It was lovely. Nice and sunny and we had a nice walk. Played hell with the pelvis pain tho. Also burnt myself even tho I had sun cream on! DPs dad bought us a monitor. We went for the angelcare sound and movement one. My friends have had them and say they are fab. We have also bought bubbas mattress which arrived next day. We have no furniture yet tho as it isn't due in till mid July.
Love being off work!!

MadKatz · 07/07/2011 14:51

Hi Iwish I'm fine ta. Baby is very active early morning, waking me up about 4,30am the last 3 mornings kicking!!!
For those of you like me who just cant stand gaviscon or the other heart burn treatrments, a piece of fruit just before I go to bed at night is keeping the heartburn at bay.
We had some good news today. Finally.....DH has been offered another job and accepted it Grin

lizandlulu · 07/07/2011 14:55

hiya iwish and madkatz

glad you have had a nice week iwish and you have got abit more stuff sorted out. have you got any more scans booked to check on the placenta?

madkatz thats good news for you and your DH.
are you having ANY fruit? my heartburn has eased off this last couple of days, i cant seem to pin it down to anything that sets it off. just being pregnant must do itGrin

Iwish · 07/07/2011 15:30

madkatz yippee for your DH job! Bet you are v happy.
It's lovely feeling them kick isn't it. I don't even mind being woken up at silly o'clock when he's kicking as it's such a lovely feeling.

Liz yeh ive got another scan on 3rd August to check it's position, hoping its moved.. The lady who did the 4d scan said it wasn't covering the OS when I went so it had moved a bit but was still low. She seemed confident it would move tho.
How are you feeling?

KLou111 · 07/07/2011 16:59

Hi all, sorry not been on for a couple of days. Was feeling rather sorry for myself yesterday a was up every hour Tuesday night with sickness and dia :( Was NOT nice. Typical, DH's first night back where he could have a proper sleep, and I had him up all night! Thank god we now have an en suite!!!
I'd been telling him since about 10pm I felt sick but I fell asleep on the sofa. He woke me up at 12:15 and I sat up and told him to get me a bowl as I was going to be sick and just projectile vomitted twice all over myself, the sofas and floor sorry if TMI!!
Phoned my mum the next morning and she said to just monitor baby movements but it shouldn't go through to baby. Felt like shite all day yesterday, but feeling a bit better today and bubs been moving loads.

Regardless of that though, had a fab weekend with mum and dad, was in floods of tears when they left, not only because I am scared shitless, but also because I may not see them again now til after bubs is here. I was totally gutted. But DH thinking about going back at the end of this month for a weekend Hmm as it may be 3 months from now before he can get back or wants to go back to check on things, and also he may have a stag do. Mum and dad have offered to come back again if so, but it's like he aid, he's only 3 hours away and nothing will stop him coming back here, even if he has to leave the dog at his parents lol (he takes Bella with him).

Glad Chris' arm loads better Liz still crossing fingers for baby to move.

Glad you had a nice time away Iwish we've got that monitor too :)

Sorry you've been feeling like crap Gruff hope you feel stacks better.

Melly glad you're coping with Poppy, sounds like she's in a routine already lucky you!! :)
Re the winding, I was asking mum over the weekend and she said how she does it is sit baby on your lap (sideways), put one hand across baby's shoulders, under chin, and one hand on back and circle baby around rather than rub the back and that usually works.

Phew, sorry about the long post!!

OP posts:
Iwish · 07/07/2011 22:55

klou sorry you have had sick and dia. Bet that was not nice! (sad) at the projectile vomiting too. Hope you are feeling better now?
Glad you had a lovely time with your parents.

We tried messing with the monitor but decided it wasnt much good to do late at night when we were half asleep with no cot to test it in!

MadKatz · 08/07/2011 07:56

Yes any fuit Liz, although I am generally avoiding citrussy things like oranges. I normally go for a banana, nectarine or piece of melon, has been working a treat Grin

lizandlulu · 08/07/2011 12:37

well madkatz i shot myself in the foot there when i said mine had eased off abit, after half an hour of saying that it came back and been here ever sinceSad

klou poor you, i really hope you feel better now, its not nice at the best of times, never mind when you have to worry about it affecting the baby too.

my bump seems to have dropped down abit, not loads, but definatly moved down abit. i am actually looking forward to seeing if they can turn it on wednesday. i will be a step closer to knowing what is actually going to happen at the birht, either it works andi can do it vaginally, or cesarian.

MadKatz · 08/07/2011 16:03

Hope you're feeling better KLou

When are you due Liz?

GruffaloMama · 08/07/2011 16:14

Poor you, Klou - that's horrible. Hope you're recovering. Glad you had a nice time with your folks - have you decided if you'll see them again before junior appears?

Madkatz glad you had a nice holiday. My baby is always up at 4am too! I've got a bet on with my DH that 4am will be when I'm up feeding once he/she appears!

I'm kind of nervy about getting cover for DS when i go into labour - am 38 weeks tomorrow... Aarghh... I notionally have something sorted but terrified it'll all fall apart when I actually go into labour...

Iwish glad you're having a good week off. Hope the weather wasn't too grotty. Lovely to get the things sorted out isn't it?

Liz it sounds like they've forgotten about the GD... maybe they thought that your reading was pretty marginal for this far on in pregnancy. Fingers' crossed eh?

lizandlulu · 08/07/2011 16:21

well they havent been in touch about the test gruffalo i presume they would only get in touch if i needed to see them about it, so hopefully no more will be said about it.

madkatz i am due 1st august which is 3 weeks on monday, although i really dont think i will go that long. i am getting quite alot of pains and aches but dont know if they are braxton hicks or regular pains or what. seeing as i have already been through it once you would think i would know wouldnt youHmm

i am half hoping that i have to have an emergency cesarian on wednesday, not that i want anythign to go wrong, but it i could have it then, then i would have 2 weeks recovery with lulu being at school, so it wouldnt be so bad as having it in the first week of the school hols.

dad came out of hospital yesterday but hes not showing any signs of wanting to go back to work, no not too sure how i would cope if chris couldnt be with me

Iwish · 08/07/2011 16:27

Wow 38 weeks gruff! I'm sure if your plan does fall to pieces when you go into labour that your friends or family will be able to watch him. I bet it's hard having to sort it out tho since it can happen at any time of the day or night. First time parents like me and my DP can just get up and go.
Yeh we have enjoyed our time off but the weather has been pretty crappy. Never mind, I've spent a lot of time relaxing :)

I'm 28 weeks on Monday and just want the time to hurry the heck up! People keep saying to relax and enjoy the pregnancy but I just want to meet my little man!!
Just thought I'd share with you that over the last couple of days my little man has been v active and have been able to see my whole belly move!! Im guessing he's doing somersaults in there. I love it, it Is such a fab feeling and different from a kick.
Every time I get DP to watch bubba stops tho lol! He's either shy or likes playing games with daddy!

Iwish · 08/07/2011 17:41

[hgrin]. Love it!!

lizandlulu · 08/07/2011 18:28

instead of having a harry face, i think they need to make up a pissed off face. i would make really good use of it!

Iwish · 08/07/2011 18:42

Lol Liz what about [hangry].
Do you just want baby to come now? I think you are having a boy. [hsmile]

lizandlulu · 08/07/2011 19:47

yes i want it out now, i think i am having a boy too as do most of the people i speak to, i think everyone will be shocked if it does come out a girl.

i seem to have gone from only just showing, to being full on pregnant and can stretch no more in a matter of weeks. my belly fat is stretched to its full capacity!

Iwish · 08/07/2011 20:05

I've had a guess what I think everyone is having apart from gruff but I can't get in her profile.
I was looking for your 12 week scan so I could guess properly but you havnt got it on your profile.
Aww bet you have had enough then. Hopefully he/she will make an appearance sooner rather than later. [hsmile]

Omg my boob leaked the other day!! Is it normal now??

KLou111 · 08/07/2011 20:13

Hi girlies! Feeling stacks better now :) Looking forward to the toffee neopolitan ice cream for after dinner :)

Liz sounds like you've had enough now and want bubs out! Hoping s/he has moved now :) Glad your dad is out of hospital and hopefully on the mend.
Everyone thinks I am having a boy too, I don't mind either way as long as the bits are where they are supposed to be!

Not long now Gruff are you feeling excited now?? I'm sure it'll all slot into place when your little bundle arrives.

I told DH today I don't want him to go anywhere now, so with that I don't think I'll see my parents again til after bubs is here. I am still quite terrified, and he said he would be gutted if I went into labour and he wasn't here, even the build up bit, so I've said to stay, which he is Grin
So he's put up the pram today properly, fitted the car seat in the car and all OK, so it's all ready to go. He's built the changing unit and he's putting the sticker thing over the cot tomorrow and hanging the curtain rail ready for the curtains. I've cleaned the tub chair we had back in the Midlands and it's come up mint, so am chuffed with that, have ordered a nice cushion to go on it too. I'll put some pics up as soon as I can.
We have DH's parents coming tomorrow til Monday (last minute but only chance they've got, which suits us as DH was having the weekend off anyway). :)

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 08/07/2011 20:55

Thanks for the burping tips everyone, klou yours kind of confused me though, move the actual baby round in a circle? [hconfused] glad you're better anyway, d&v is awful, especially when pregnant! I can't believe how little time you, liz and gruffalo have left! It doesn't seem 5 minutes since you were all excited about your 20 week scans! And iwish and madkatz your time is soon going too! We're registering poppy on monday [hsmile] so she'll officially be poppy louise! Simon went to see another doctor about his feet the other day and he's been prescribed these pads that you stick on the bottom of your feet and they have a numbing effect. What i want to know is how the frig he's meant to walk with numb feet [hhmm]
