Yey on the feeding Iwish :) Bet you're over the moon!!
Well, in the day time if we're out, Euan normally takes around 4oz of EBM per feed, then before bed around 5.5-6oz (he is getting weighed today, but last week he was almost 11lbs 4oz so not sure if he takes more cos of his weight)

Had a great night last night, fed him at 8pm, (trying to put him to bed an hour later now so he's up an hour later lol) finally fell asleep at 9pm (we had him downstairs to be fair and as soon as he was in his cot he was off!) We decided to not wake him at 11pm to see how long he would go, as my mum said at 8 weeks my brother went from 8-8!! Euan is 8 weeks Saturday) He woke at 2am (Rob fed him, fab!!) then he woke at 6:30. Very happy!!!!

I bought an electric pump yesterday, what an f-ing pile of shite!!!! Taking it back. I wanted a medela mini as had read the reviews and mostly good. Mothercare out of stock but had a tommee tippee half price. Friggin useless, I'm taking it back, it worked once, now it won't suck!! I always read reviews, but I just bought this cos I thought it must be good if it's usually £100, now I know why it was half price!!!!!!!!

Any news madkatz????

No, no news here Sad

Seeing the midwife this afternoon so will say what she says

Iwish · 06/10/2011 10:50

Yeh I'm over the moon klou. I fed him al through the night too! Didn't have to give him a bottle. Still using the shields but I don't care Grin
Boobs are a little sore tho, I think it's because I usually express about 4 1/2 oz or more per boob but Joshua only takes average 3 1/2 per feed so there must still be a lot in there.

It's a medela one I have from the hospital. It's v good, v basic tho but you don't need it to do much I suppose.

Yey for Euan sleeping so well! So clever :)

MadKatz · 06/10/2011 19:32

Evening Ladies,

Well saw the MW this afternoon. She did a sweep which wasn't so bad but have been in loads of pain since about four o'clock. Just spent the last hour in the bath and noticed the pain is coming and going in waves, so wondering if these are early contractions. Hope so.

Am booked in to see someone at maternity on Monday to talk through possible induction if nothing happens over the weekend

lizandlulu · 06/10/2011 19:43

well it sounds to me like its worked. for me, contractions felt just like period pain that got worse over time, which came in waves. have you timed them? or are they erratic?

klou i am very jealous with euans sleeping!!

i have been to see the friend who had a baby the day after me and her little girl is going from 9pm to 7 amShock!!! i offered to swap but she didnt want to knowGrin

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 06/10/2011 20:10

madkatz sounds to me like you could be in labour! Eee how exciting!

iwish that's fantastic news! I'm so glad that you're finally able to feed him yourself! Really well done :)

klou that's great that euan is sleeping so good! Poppy is quite good. I put her to bed half 7, then wake her at 9ish, then she'll be back asleep around 9.45, then wakes at 2-2.30ish, then again at 4ish, then 6ish. I really want to cut out the 4am one though.

liz that's really good that violet is used to her cot now! :o @ her arms and legs!

We went to see the puppies on sunday and I said I really wanted one but simon won't allow it as he doesn't want a boxer. Then my dad said he would give one to poppy :o but I had to say no. I wouldn't be able to cope with a 5 month old baby and a puppy, and i'm too allergic anyway :(

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 06/10/2011 20:22

Oh iwish I forgot to say, poppy is clingy all day but fine at night, doesn't mind being put down into her cot at all, asleep or awake! But only at bedtime, I can't put her into it for very long in the daytime. 10 - 15 minutes max!

lizandlulu · 06/10/2011 22:01

hiya melly violet is like that too! she can be climgy in the day, wants to be picked up all the time, yet at night, goes into her cot quite happily! isnt it odd

KLou111 · 07/10/2011 08:41

Morning all. Great news madkatz hope this is it for you at last!!

Shame about the puppy melly :(

Yey for all the good sleepers!!
Euan was a bit strange last night and didn't want to be left on his own. We decided to go to bed at 9 and watch tv so we could fall asleep and not then have to go to bed. Euan was put in his cot at 8.30 but was restless til 9.30. The batteries in his winnie thing had ran out so not sure if it was that??

He was weighed yesterday and is 11lb 10.5oz :) so another 6.5oz.
Told her about him being in his own room not thinking anything of it and she said 'oh, bit young isn't he?' Almost chucked her out!!! Bit our tongues but that really pissed us off.
I just said, there's less likely something to happen in his room with the alarm than in the room with us fast asleep with nothing. She shut up then and said sounds like we're doing a fab job!
I swear they don't have a friggin clue most of the time!!

OP posts:
SpookhettiTwirlerAndProud · 07/10/2011 09:07

klou they recommend you keep them in with you for 6 months and euan is 8 weeks isn't he? So that's probably why she was a bit Confused she probably thinks everyone follows the 'rules'. Wouldn't dwell on it tbh, half of them don't have a clue!
My HV on the other hand is a force to be reckoned with :o

liz it's rather annoying isn't it? I hardly ever manage to get any housework done as i'm either holding or feeding poppy! She does like her door bouncer though, thankfully! Aslong as she can see me she's fine being left in it!

Anymore news yet madkatz? Good luck!

I find it quite funny that this thread was started and you were all speculating about whether I was in hospital and if I was in labour on the way to meeting poppy. When in actual fact i'd had her and got home before the thread was even started :o

SpookhettiTwirlerAndProud · 07/10/2011 09:08

oooh Thanks when did they appear?

KLou111 · 07/10/2011 09:51

Yeah I know melly but the guidelines change that bloody often I think you are better off doing what you think is best. However, didn't have the guts to tell her Euan had been in his own room since around 3 weeks!!!
I think as long as you're taking the right precautions, and not putting your baby in any danger, it is fine whatever you do.
The thing that pissed us off the most is she said later, 'you want to put baby to bed around 8 (already doing) and have some time to yourselves', well isn't that putting him in another fucking room?!?!?

OP posts:
SpookhettiTwirlerAndProud · 07/10/2011 13:06

Haha exactly! One minute it's all "Oh he's too little to be on his own" and the next "You should put him on his own so you can have some time together" they make no sense half the time! Think I would've questioned that tbh!

Just uploaded some pics of poppy, I've put a couple of videos on facebook too :)

Got my hallowe'en name on, do you like it lol?

Iwish · 07/10/2011 14:13

Well she sounds like a tit klou! what if you didn't have space in your bedroom to put a Moses basket or cot?! Would they expect you to move!!

melly Joshua seems to be clingy all day and night at the moment. He will go in his swing for a while and be ok. He will sit on the sofa propped up with cushions but the Moses basket - he moans if he's been put in awake/half awake.

liz I can't believe your friends little ones sleeping! Hope Joshua does that lol.

Waves to gruff and madkatz

Omg my nipples are sore! They are sore when my clothes scratch against them and have a tingling pain but when he is feeding I get a strange pain as if it's hurting dragging the milk through my boobs. It makes my eyes water! will this go away? I have been putting nipple cream on in hope that helps.

Joshua is being a pain in the arse! He doesn't want to be put down. Last night he had a feed at 4:30am and I changed him and put him in his Moses basket and he moaned, cried and whinged until I picked up, he kept doing this until 6am!! I did try to ignore him but I couldn't. In the end DP cuddled him until he fell asleep then I put him in Moses basket. He is getting worse every day/night. How can I just make him go down without moaning to be picked up?

lizandlulu · 07/10/2011 14:56

iwish you have my sypmathy, you really do, but i think he is too little to worry about it, just cuddle himSmile but if you really need to get him to be put down then you are oging to have to do the crying/going to him every 5 mins. but really i wouldnt worry about it till maybe a few more weeks at least. violet was like this for the first 6 ish weeks, but once she started to stay awake abit longer i used to put her in her chair and dangle her toys in front of her, so she still had my attention but not actually holding her.

i hope he improves for you. also oucchhhhh about your nipples!

melly i watched your vidoe on facebook, how clever is she!!! so cuteGrin

klou you are right in doing what you thnk is best, they dont know your baby like you do and its not like you are some druggie or alchie who would put him in his room then go and get drugged/pissed up and not go to him!

i must admit i would have liked to keep violet in my room but she just got too big for the moses basket and couldnt stretch out, and there was no room in our bedroom for any kind of cot so she had to go! her room is right next to ours anyway, the doors are right opposite each other so i can hear every little sound, but still have the monitor anyway!

SpookhettiTwirlerAndProud · 07/10/2011 15:34

iwish is he latched on properly? I had this problem on the left side with poppy when she was a few days old, i ended up with a blood blister on my left nipple! It was eye wateringly painful. Ask your HV. Don't you have a local breastfeeding support group or anything like that?

liz i couldn't believe it when i first saw her do it lol!

MadKatz · 07/10/2011 22:19

Evening ladies. Well no news here, woke up this morning with hardly any pressure pain at allConfused
Some pain tonight but then have done a lot of walking round all day and LO has been kicking like mad tonight, so god knows what's going on.

Iwish · 07/10/2011 23:04

liz I hope he grows out of it soon. He has been even more whingy today. He's been feeding every hour for the last few hours which is unlike him.

melly nice name :). I think he's on properly but I suppose there's always a chance that he isn't because I'm using the nipple shields.

I'm slowly trying to get DS to feed from me without the nipple shields. He has so far managed it twice today for a couple of minutes each time! Yey Joshua

Hv came today too and weighed him, he now weighs 8lb 3oz. Last week he was 7lb 6oz.

KLou111 · 08/10/2011 11:49

Wow, he's growing quick iwish!! He may be having a growth spurt with the regular feeding. Euan had one at 3 and 6 weeks, felt like all I did was feed him for 3 days, knackering!!

Must try and watch your vid melly phone wouldnt let me yesterday.

Had a lovely lie in til 9.30, Rob was up at 6.30 for the rugby so he sorted Euan this morn, I got a cuppa in bed, and we're going out in a mo to get some nice steak for dinner as he's cooking tonight :)

OP posts:
Iwish · 08/10/2011 17:01

Isn't he just klou I can't believe he's put on nearly a lb in a week! Fat little munchkin. Feels like he's feeding often but not taking as much. He did ok over night tho, fed at 12 then 4:20 ish then 7:10

You are being spoilt today! Lie ins and having your tea cooked :). Nicks friend is here at the moment so I think we are having a take away for tea. Maybe a curry.
Joshua has just had a feed (well some of a feed then fallen asleep) and we didn't use the nipple sheild! Grin

lizandlulu · 08/10/2011 20:17

iwish he must be getting all he needs tho! glad hes getting better with your nipplesGrin (not a scentance you say everyday!)

klou very Envy with your lie ins! lulu wnet to bed last night at 9.45 so i thought i would get abit of a lie in, but no, she was awake at 7.30, then the baby at 7.55 Angry

madkatz oh i do hope something happens soon, you cant last much longer surely!!

well iam here on my own, apart from kids, so decided to all have a bath together. i undressed the baby and forgot to get her shampoo (i dont usually use any on her but shes got cradle cap coming so i put olive oil on her hair and had to wash it out) so put her in her bouncy chair with no nappy on, literally for 2 mins and shes peed all over it! i cant put it in the wash yet as i only have one and need to use it tonight while i am on my own so shes sitting on a towelGrin

Iwish · 08/10/2011 21:31

I hope he is liz I just panic that he's not getting enough. Today he's been feeding every hour ish but only taking a bit and falling asleep. Am shattered from the picking him up and feeding. Hope it's just a growth spurt.
Lol at her peeing all over her chair! Today Joshua has had 3 outfits on as he has weed, poo'd and puked on them.

lizandlulu · 08/10/2011 22:40

god, every hour must be knackering. do you try to wake him when he falls alseep? i remember reading in one of them mumsnet books about one woman whos baby fells asleep alot during feeding and she used to rub a wet flannel on his face and blow on itShock!! abit harsh but if thats what it takesGrin personally i think social services needed callingGrin

i hve done some calenders tonight on vistaprint. i had a voucher code to get one for 99p plus postage so i had a look and they look ace, so have ordered 7!! you can put your own pics on and lookreally good. i will put some away for christmas presents for mum and dad, in laws etc. i think one would cost about a fiver.

its www.vistaprint.co.uk/tbp75 if you want to do one.

just put violet to bed, couple of murmurs and nothing! think shes gone to sleep, what the hell am i still doing up????

KLou111 · 09/10/2011 07:53

Lol Liz at the weeing on the chair!!!
We did them calendars when we got married, they turned out fab. Going to get a Xmas outfit for bubs so I can take a piccie for December before I do some :)

I'd perhaps try and wake him a bit iwish even if you gently rub his cheek or tickle his feet. Then he may stay awake a bit.

Feeling totally fab today. Euan went down at 9, woke him at 11.45 for a feed. (ebm so I knew he had a good feed as I can shove the bottle in his mouth even half asleep, god that sounds awful!!) He woke at 7.30!!!!!! Very very happy parents lol!!! [Grin]

OP posts:
Iwish · 09/10/2011 10:47

You should have been in bed liz! The calendars look great, might get one for my parents and DPs parents :). Did violet sleep ok after going to bed early?

klou waking my child up is impossible. I strip him down to his nappy a d he's still sleepy! He's good at night and still goes 3-4 hours but during the day he was just v close together.
So jealous of your sleep! Euan is so good.

The weather is crap again today! And my car has died!
