wow thats such good news!!! :) how very exciting!!! can't wait for mine on sat!

ghosteditor · 12/07/2011 12:24

bella I wouldn't ever listen to a GP about any chronic joint problems. I'm hypermobile and have had no end of problems over the last couple of years. I'm really hoping that the pg won't make anything worse, but I think that's being naive rather than optimistic due to all the hormones! I'd highly recommend that you see a specialist physio or similar - it could well be that they can start you on some strengthening exercises specifically designed for you that may help alleviate problems. Please don't think you have to wait until you're suffering - the NHS is not very well designed for preventative treatment. For what it's worth, Pilates has helped me a lot with hip and spine problems.

supa that's awesome and yey for the one baby wiggling around - I had a high chance of twins and it would have been awesome but I was quietly relieved that there's only one Grin

AKP79 · 12/07/2011 12:54

Hi girls, can I join in? Only just found this thread... can't believe I've been using mumsnet for so long and only just thought to check the ante natal section!!

I'm 13+1 today and due on 15th January... feels like ages away! Has anyone else found the weeks have really slowed up? I'm ridiculously busy at work and my job's got really stressful, but still the days drag on and on and on!...

hi all, ive just signed up and im due on 7/1/12 with my 4th baby, our little devon surprise!!

does anyone on their 4th pregnancy understand when i say, im huge already? and i mean i have people that think ive only got a few weeks to go!! i have a full on pregnant belly, its all out front and i actually weigh less now than i have done for the past year. i wasnt the smallest person in the world to start with but it was fat, not the pregnant belly i have now.

i had a few people ask me when the baby was due over the past few years but that was when i wasnt taking much notice of how i was holding myself and tbh i was amazed people would ask as you could have just assume i was fat. i would say 'im not pregnant, im fat' and they would be mortified!!! now i am most definitely looking pregnant.

ive had a scan at 9 weeks and one at 12 weeks and both showed the same due date so it must be right and both times we could only see one (although im still not convinced). ive been feeling fluttering since 9 weeks and now more definite movements although they are only inside.

ive got a doppler and i can only find one heartbeat (which is really hard to find) and can hear baby (bob) moving around in there too.

sorry for the rambling on in my first post!!

nykxx

Hi everyone
1st post on mumsnet!!! EDD 15th jan whoopwhoop this will be baby no. 2 :) so excited but so very scared all at the same time.
I had a horrid labour with DS had to have EMCS which they had to totally knock me out for :( i dont remeber the 1st 2 weeks of my ds life and found it hard to bond with him cos of this, DP was amazing though. really dont wanna go through that again but would like a VBAC so confused what to do.

tigana · 12/07/2011 16:43

Argh! Need to get maternity bras. Where to go? I've measured myself, repeatedly and fear I have managed to grow to a size they don't sell (38AA anyone?!).

Naturally I am not nice rounded numbers in below and across bust measurements, so if I finickle around with the numbers I can also get 36A, 38C or 38B out of them! I ought to get measured properly, yes?

Urgh... M&S or Mothercare to choose from....have read many disparaging comments about both re bra fitting.

Wormshuffler · 12/07/2011 17:12

I wouldnt buy maternity bra's personally, just the correct size in nice cumfy material. There is a calculator thingy on the m and s website. Hope that helps :)

Joules281 · 12/07/2011 17:16

i didnt buy maternity bras either just went for the seriuosly unsexy full support bras not the best looking but so comfy i found m&s really friendly and helpful just have to be firm with what you want lol

sassylassie · 12/07/2011 17:31

On maternity bras, I found John Lewis brilliant, and yes they didn't fit me with maternity bras - just nice normal comfy supportive bras. They were only £12 too so they didn't try to sell me the most expensive ones, which was good. I had gone up 2 whole cup sizes by 7 weeks - now officially a 32F but was recommended 34F to allow "room for expansion"! I've never had bras fit so well before so I'm a happy bunny on that front.

Just had my scan, so will report back on that later too but got to dash now... :)

fishandlilacs · 12/07/2011 17:41

argh-yet again I have been away too long and this thread has romped on so much! 9 pages this time.

Is anyone else feeling utterly shit at 14 weeks? I have an almost constant headache, I am still dog tired and my sleep is really badly disturbed. It may be something to do with that fact I am trying to do the last 3 weeks of my old job, in the middle of 2 contracts for my new job and my new new job (starts in sept) has started to ramp up the planning for it. I am a community tutor and I am grabbing as many hours as I can before as i dont get any maternity pay.

I have weirdly and randomly started to be sick again after not a sniff of sickness for over 3 weeks suddenly this last 2 days have been awful. Should I see the doc or midwife maybe?

Mum2be79 · 12/07/2011 17:53

abeautifulbutterfly
Baby A refers to our surname and the fact it's our first (first letter of the alphabet). I draw the line at first names beginning with 'A' as our child's initials will be A.A (Although Amelie is featuring as a middle name to Charlotte at the moment).

ag123 · 12/07/2011 19:25

Talking of big babies BellasYummyMummy did anyone else get a graph of the baby's crown-rump length on their 12 week scan? Mine was showing on the 95th centile already...should I be worried??!!

knittiekitty · 12/07/2011 19:31

I was forcing down cereal early this morning and using the peace and quiet to read last night's London Evening Standard and who did I see quoted on page 3 but our very own Sleepywombat! The article was about the names chosen by the Beckhams and they'd selected Sleepy to quote - how exciting to be in print!
Poor fishandlilacs, I'm still really hit and miss too and have just started to get headaches which my mw said could be the weather, hormones or not drinking enough. I've just got in from a long day trekking to a meeting in London and my head is pounding.

Glad you're feeling better GhostEd, easy with those stretches! And another yay to Supa as also know what you mean. Twins in my family too and being so big so quick this time I was worrying how I'd possibly manage 2!
Hi to the new ladies and welcome - hope you're not feeling too rough!

Mum2be79 · 12/07/2011 19:56

At 13 weeks and 4 days mine was 75.3mm. I think 75mm is normal for 13 weeks.
Not sure was centile that is! At the moment baby A feels like it's 75cm never mind mm!
I'm 15 weeks and 2 days today and some measurements say the length is 90mm crown to rump and 120mm (12cm - but I am assuming that means crown to feet!)

BigHotMama · 12/07/2011 20:07

Hi everyone and welcome to new ladies!

Trying to pluck up courage to tell my work colleagues as leaving early on Monday for 12 wk scan so do I tell them beforehand or afterwards? Really never find the right time keep trying to
Imagine what they will say and I know its pathetic but feels scary.

We're not going to find out the sex but I know I'll be very tempted when the time comes. Always had a feeling I would have two boys and first one came true but if I have a girl I will overjoyed. Would be nice to have equal balance in the house so I don't get outnumbered later on lol.

Still feeling nausea during day and extremely tired in evenings and certainly don't recall it lasting this long with ds so could it be a sign of having a girl??? Not sure?

Counting days for scan on Monday keep thinking that they will tell me there is nothing there, feeling very paranoid!

Also having some crazy dreams that dh came home from a night out and told me he had taken the morning after pill wtf? Anyone else having random nutty dreams?

Good luck for scans everyone x

BigHotMama · 12/07/2011 20:10

Blush just realised I posted last message and hadn't finished reading the last page dohhhh!

shonnomanom · 12/07/2011 21:09

Congrats and welcome to all the new ladies!!!

Over the years I have been told by several different psychics that I would have a boy and a girl, both blonde. So given that dd arrived with a head full of blonde hair and there are no blondes in the family I cant help think this might be a boy.
Also I cant help shake the feeling that baby will be born this year. My EDD is Jan1st so it is possible. But dd was 8 days over. Time will tell

My sis-in-law is 32/40 and was told by the mw yesterday that she is 4/5engaged and to expect the baby to come early. Also, she had previously been told that its a big baby. She's 5ft and getting herself worried about a giant baby. Most babies in the family are around 8lbs.

Good luck to all having scans this week.
Hope everyone is starting to feel good again.
Sho x

mamababa · 12/07/2011 21:38

Hi all can I join? am due 9th jan, baby no 2.
Need advice tho. had nuchal which was good (1.5) but bloods have put me high risk for downs. 1:26 midwife said one of the bloods was only slighty out but age, weight etc all make up risk. Am 38. Amnio next week at 15 + 1. can I find out specific hospital miscarriage rates? Am scared to death and rates are always quoted as 1% but surely vary? my local Nhs only do it after 16 wks going to nearest specialist obstetric hosp. Is there increased risk at 15 wks rather than 16? Midwife says not

willowstar · 12/07/2011 22:41

hello

I am new here, my due date is 23/1/12. I am really feeling strange about this pregnancy because I don't feel pregnant and I am 12 weeks. I have my scan tomorrow and I just don't feel right. I have a very demanding 22 month old and I feel that I haven't had a chance to really get excited yet. has anyone else felt like this??? when i was pregnant with my daughter I was unbelievably excited, but this time I just feel a bit anxious about how on earth I will cope with two, which feels very unfair. I think I will feel better tomorrow when I have seen her/him. it just doesn't feel real yet.

GiraffeAHolic · 13/07/2011 09:14

Welcome to all the new bumps.

I'm 15+2 and there is no light at the end of the morning sickness tunnel, but hey while I'm throwing up at least I'm not doubting the pregnancy Blush

I'm properly showing now, I'm rotating 2 pairs of maternity jeans daily and really must go and buy some tops that actually meet the waistband of the jeans Grin

Dd is sooooo excited, keeps talking about "my baby" Smile

abeautifulbutterfly · 13/07/2011 10:03

Bella'sYM: my girls are just 6 and 7.5 and they are soooo excited! I also told them only after the NT scan (tho bloods not back till tomorrow - eek!). DD1 really wants a little sister, but DD2, who is a born diplomat, says she will be equally happy either way (just as well really!) I kind of think I'm bound to have another girl, because DH works quite hands-on with radio (telecoms) and apparently this can damage boy-sperm, but how true that is I don't know. But of course my mum knows best because she had 2 girls and then a boy, so of course I will too Hmm. Indeed, everybody seems to think we (esp. DH) must be pining for a boy after 2 girls. Grr!
Hope you can sort out some help for your hip - can't imagine trying to cope with 2 such littlies being pg and in pain as well...
Mum2be79: sorry to be so nosy Grin. Btw, Charlotte is my middle name Smile. Actually I really wish we had come up with a name for this bump - DD1 was the prawn, but don't think we had one for DD2 either. Boring, we are...
tiganaI'm with you on the bras - I have what I just learned on MN is called 4-boob syndrome (have also been reading up on bra-fitting thread). Today is the day, I have an hour free in town this afternoon while DDs are at a class, so must find new bras before I do myself a mischief. Alas, I don't live in the UK, so all the info on JL and M&S is worthless, but I have to do something. I am also going to buy a maxi dress so I can use it again after the pg. Woohoo a mummy shopping spree!
fish&lilacs: yes, I am still constantly wiped out, still have to have a doze, though happily the nausea seems to have passed. I keep waiting for the day when I miraculously wake up with all this 2nd-trimester zing!

Oeisha · 13/07/2011 10:07

Hello all! And congrats to all of you Mummies out there.
I'm a January too! Jan 18th according to whatever witchcraft is used to judge these things. So, if I can count right/at all at the moment I'm 13wks (12 wk scan last Wed and she said 'just 12wks').
Not loving pregnancy so far. But then, not getting it all that badly.
Some of all the usual, but main symptom is EXTREEM tiredness. Could sleep 16h a day if I let myself.

I'm so happy to finally be pregnant (didn't think I could/TTC for 1yr). Yet, at the same time it's kida like I still dont' believe it...seen 'Yolkis' (as it's been named, thanks to scan 1 at EPU just still looking like a yolk sac), break dancing and everything, but it just doesn't feel real, despite some really shocking days and scans and +tests and all that.
Dont' know if I'm just 'in shock', just that the tiredness is so overwhelming I have little time to stop and think, whether I should be more concerned (history of depression, but it doesn't feel like depression). I just feel kinda 'distant' from it all...kinda like it's happening to someone else, but it's not, it's me...! [hgrin]
