Aww, dont worry Nurse. You WILL be fine.

curiouselle · 03/07/2011 19:52

nurse mums have that effect on us - just think your little one will be like that with you one day! am sure you will be fine :)

HalleLouja · 03/07/2011 20:49

Can someone remind me I will get some sleep one day soon. With premmie babies the newborn stage is super long... Did have some longer stretches but they have disappeared the last couple of nights....

Go ttl and anyone else still ready to burst

Jer79 · 03/07/2011 22:19

Good luck to everyone waiting to have their babies! It's pure magic on the other side, but the sleep thing is pretty crazy.

Jasmine hope all is well with you wherever you are.

milliemuffin · 03/07/2011 23:35

Argh! Forgot how much it hurts to feed for the first few days! It's like shards of glass in my nipples everytime DD latches on. I think it's only like this for a few days isn't it?!

How's everyone that's still waiting? Have a good cry, it's the only thing that worked for me in the end! Xx

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 04/07/2011 00:28

Gah. Seem to have hit the baby blues hard and fast this time. Fecking DH and his Fecking OCD that he won't fecking shut up about and is really getting on my nerves (officially making me a bad wife, but I don't care). It's a good thing Alba is a relaxed wee darling who I just adore. Which makes me want to cry even more. I really am a weepy mess tonight. My MW team know what's going on so I do have RL support, I just felt the need to rant.

In other news, Alba is now pooing real poo and my milk is coming in, so by morning I'm going to have the chest of a porn star.

takethatlady · 04/07/2011 09:23

Hi ladies,

Sorry not to have caught up - Isobel Edith Buckland was born at 6.10am on Sunday 3rd July after 12 hours of labour and 6 hours of active labour. Had gas and air and a shot of pethidine, no stitches and only cuts and grazes, so the birth was about as good as it could be. Stayed in the MLU. Bit of mec in the waters, which had to be broken as I pushed her out, so we stayed 14 hours at the MLU to have her temps regularly checked, but she was fine. She is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous and we are so happy. My birthday today, so what a present!

Will update properly later :)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 04/07/2011 09:30

Grin Yay TTL. Little early July baby girls are goreous aren't they? Grin

Confessions - sorry you are so stressed, but good to hear you have RL support - do rant away on here, if it helps!

TTL - CONGRATULATIONS!!! And Happy birthday to you and Isobel :)

Millie - ouch! The pain does ease off after a few days, it has for me. Is the pain when she initially latches on, and does it ease off as she feeds? Or is it continuous throughout the feed? If it is the latter, I strongly recommend getting her latch checked as it could be she is not pulling the nipple far enough back in her mouth. I had this problem and it was a matter of trying to experiment with different positions.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 04/07/2011 10:30

Hmm, try Little early July baby girls are gorgeous even.

Thanks SSD and Kara. I hate being in this situation, but fell better for getting it off my chest.

NurseSunshine · 04/07/2011 11:11

Huge congratulations TTL Happy birthday to you both Grin

Millie Yup shards of glass sums it up pretty well :( I'm still getting it a week later, hoping my poor nips toughen up soon. Slap on the lansinoh!

Confessions From the sounds of it you are a great wife and it's no wonder you're getting frustrated, you must be so tired from supporting DH, you need him to focus on you and Alba for a while. I bet you're doing amazingly, have a good old rant and cry if you need to :) (((((HUGS)))))

TTL huge congratulations to you and Happy Birthday! GrinGrinGrin

Kara its only when she latches on and eases after 10-15 seconds. She is ever so slightly tongue tied and even though it's not an issue I've been advised by 3 MW's to tell the HV that it is so we can get it snipped ASAP and avoid any possible speech problems that might occur. The only place they do it near us though is Bedford which is an hour away but it's definitely something we want done.

Keira's been asleep for about 22 of the last 24 hours not including feeding. She fed during the night and this morning but she's not been properly awake for more than 10/15 since yesterday morning. I'm guessing she's still recovering from the birth and it is hot.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 04/07/2011 13:48

Millie, that seems okay then to me. She is still learning and she will get better at latching on, the pain may well be made worse by the TT. Think you are doing the right thing, DSS has an undiagnosed TT which snapped when he was 7, it was very painful! Much better to get it snipped now by a surgeon than have that happen! It is great it has been picked up now as they are notoriously difficult to diagnose.
It has been very hot and muggy here too and I think that is certainly making DD feed and sleep lots!

moomin156 · 04/07/2011 13:59

Hello everyone..........have just spent the morning catching up on a weeks worth of posts. Congratulations to all those who have their snuggly babies and thinking of the final few who are still waiting.
Far too much has happened for individual comments......sorry :(

Well we are in and settled into our new house, its actually quite nice and think we will be happy here. Weird having DH around everyday. We were in the supermarket on friday and after being married for 1 year i had to ask DH what he did for breakfast in the week and what he wanted for his lunches LOL
DD has her own room and what a difference to sleep it makes.......i dont hear every little groan and fart.
We have also tried giving a FF at the 10ish feed but she seems to really struggle with the bottle ...... any experienced people got any tips on how to help her technique. It takes about an hour to get 3-4oz, she doesnt seem to know what to do.
Saying that last night we had a 6hr gap and a 4hr gap........pure heaven. ( to all those with new borns remember Flo is 15weeks before you all go shouting at the computer)
For those that are feeling tearful.......i still am. Cried when mom and dad left last week, FFS im nearly 40 and married with a baby Blush
Right heading over to facebook to see the new piccies......

NurseSunshine · 04/07/2011 14:20

Glad you're loving your new house Moomin :) Well done little Flo for sleeping so long!

I agree with nurse and Millie about the shards of glass on nipples! Everytime Maisie latches on I grimace but then it goes away so it's all good! Had the health visitor round this morning who asked all the same question the midwives had so it seemed pretty pointless!

Maisie has got into sleeping for 4 hours at a time at night which I am loving at the minute!

Congrats to ttl on the birth of Isobel and happy birthday to you for today!

Thanks for the update Moomin! Just 4 more babies still to come!
Good news about Flo's sleep!!

milliemuffin · 04/07/2011 18:15

I thunk Keira's Tongue Tie might be an issue after all. I noticed she only had the nipple in her mouth just now so eased her off with my little finger to discover she'd sucked a small blood clot out of my nipple. I'm feeding her on the right side again but I'll try the left again next time. Some websites say a bit of blood is normal in the first week but I didn't have it with my other two. She definitely doesn't have as much boob in there as my others did but not sure if that's TT related or not?

theQuibbler · 04/07/2011 18:21

Hello, just wanted to quickly add myself - haven't posted in here for ages, but I do still like to drop in and it's lovely to see all the birth stories and read about all the experiences.
My DS - Elian - was born on the 15th June - nearly three weeks old now, how did that happen? It's gone so fast. He's gorgeous and perfect and smells like caramel Smile, although he is also the gassiest, fartiest baby I've ever come across! And it will be especially terrific when he figures out that 4 am is not the right time to have his 'alert' sessions.
Congratulations to all and I hope it's going well for you.

milliemuffin · 04/07/2011 18:21

Also, sometimes you can hear a click with each suck?

milliemuffin · 04/07/2011 18:23

crazychic141187 · 04/07/2011 19:21

Millie I was told if you hear clicking then baby isn't attached properly!
