Alba Elspeth Anne arrived at 2.18am this morning. After the long day of stop start contractions it was a relatively quick birth and thanks to the 6 hour discharge option, we were home by midday. I love her, we all love her. She's adorable Grin

Come onTTL!! Hope things start happening for you in earnest soon, you must be exhausted. Try to sleep and eat something if you feel able, you need your energy :)

Congrats COAAF Lovely name :) Hope you're all snuggled up in bed with Alba

Congrats Neen Arthur is a great name and he's a gorgeous little boy Grin

Thanks for that info Kara. Jas was weighed again today and has gained something like 120g in 2 days which the MW said was fab so she is obviously just v efficient at feeding. Am feeling a lot better about the whole thing now.

Merlion her poos have gone yellowey and she's got plenty of wet and dirty nappies so I think I should just relax! BF peer isn't Chrissie, I'm seeing Shabnam on monday.

oops, posted too soon.

prisoner i'm so sorry you're so unsupported :( You shouldn't have to put up with this. You really need to look after yourself, make sure you get 3 meals a day and try to get enough rest, though I know it must be hard with 3 to look after. Do you have any help from family? Lots of ((((HUGS))))) from me

takethatlady · 01/07/2011 19:38

prisoner I'm so sad for you, and sad for your DP that he doesn't realise what he's missing out on. Sounds like his brother realises though - perhaps he could talk to him and find out what is going on in his head? It sounds like more than just unfairness/unkindness to me - like he's deliberately avoiding the situation for some reason, and needs someone to give him a good kick up the arse and make him realise how lucky he is. I really hope someone gets through to him soon. If they don't, I hope you realise what an amazing job you are doing. PS - I don't think it's a good enough reason that your other children aren't his that he does bugger all with them. My step-dad was great with me and my brother and I think that's the way it should be - you're a family. I really hope you get it sorted soon, and lots of hugs in the meantime.

coaaf you beat me to it!!! I knew you would! Congratulations - glad you had a quick birth. You fully deserved to beat me as you are a week ahead, and although I knew you were thinking of the name Alba I'm glad you stuck to it because it's beautiful :) Hope you're getting loads of cuddles right now.

Contractions have been intermittent all day but I've had one or two an hour so they've never entirely gone. DH and I have slept a lot though and I've managed to eat - mainly I'm thirsty beyond belief and have drunk two big cartons of apple juice since lunchtime. Sitting on the birthing ball watching the tennis and they're getting thicker and stronger again now, so fingers crossed it turns into something proper. Thanks for all your wishes ladies :)

tinyk · 01/07/2011 20:02

Hiya guys,

Congrats on the two babies!! And I'm sure the stop-start labours will kick off in earnest as soon as you try to sleep tonight Wink.

Nothing moving here, and mid-week would be ideal as I've got stuff to do next week. However, midwife said yesterday we are 1/5 engaged, so basically he's wearing my pelvis like a hat Smile. Let's just hope he doesn't have his dad's ears or it'll be a bit uncomfortable for him to drop much lower GrinGrin!

tinyk · 01/07/2011 20:05

Ps - prisoner everyone here is right. It takes two to make a baby, and it takes two to bring it up too. Hope if you can't get support from your "d"h soon you can rope in some other family members. Also hope that when you sat on the bed dripping it was on his sideAngry

NurseSunshine · 01/07/2011 20:31

I would second what TTL said about the way he behaves towards your older children as well. He is their step father and your partner and as such should be treating them as his family.

Evening - congratulations Neenewps and COAAF and other new Mummies - today is a good day to have a birthday if yours arrived today, its mine today as well Smile. I have had a fab day of cuddling, breakfast in bed, lunch out in the sunshine and some friends over this evening. TTL I'm thinking of you and hoping things get moving properly for you soon.

Ruby is sleeping lots, feeding lots, but for some reason not putting on any weight, so I have to take her to post-natal clinic at the hospital tomorrow. She seems healthy and happy though, so I'm trying not to worry too much.

Prisoner I am glad that otehrs on here have been more blunt than I had the guts to be about your "d"p. I also think asking his brother to have a word is a good idea.

Ruby is crying - got to go, I'll do a proper post and catch up soon Smile.

milliemuffin · 01/07/2011 23:30

I'm probably not going to need my induction on Tuesday. Just got up for a wee, walked away from the toilet, thought I'd not finished as my knickers suddenly got wet, went back in and there's some pink thick liquid there. Baby is still wriggling but no contractions. Feeling ok though not sure I can sleep! Xx

milliemuffin · 02/07/2011 00:14

Just spoken to the hospital and at this present moment we're the only people requesting a home birth so just gotta call back in a couple of hours. Xx

curiouselle · 02/07/2011 07:45

wooo go Millie - I hope things are going well, you may even be holding your little one now!

Nothing is happening for me and all cramping feelings have died right down- am gutted and now can see Tuesday's induction looming. I know induction is fine and midwife said it shouldn't take much as I'm on the way but it didn't stop be being hormonal and crying last night. Was fairly pathetic Blush can't believe now I was so convinced I would be early ugh. Sorry for self pity it's blargh I know, just wanted to whine!

Merlion · 02/07/2011 08:07

Congrats coaf and go Millie.

Kara Kellymom is great isn't it. Nurse that sounds good you are just lucky then!

8rd hope things are ok with Ruby.

Prisoner that really isn't good.

Looks like Rosina is going to be fine. She has small hole in the top part of her heart that should close in time. Such a relief. Thanks all again for your support. It gets some bad press but I love mumsnet!

curiouselle · 02/07/2011 08:18

merlion I am so glad she is going to be ok, you can relax a little now :) I too find mn very supportive, it's the same as any community of people: mostly lovely and supportive with a few bad eggs that unfortunatly stand out giving it a bad name - luckily for us we have a wonderful group Grin

AlmightyCitrus · 02/07/2011 09:17

Congratulations Neenewps and Confessions

Hope to hear good news from millie soon! Grin

Glad Rosina is ok Merlion These things do make you worry so much. I was beside myself with worry for days when DD2 needed an operation. It was only for grommets!

Sorry things haven't improved at home Prisoner. Agree with the other comments that you should have words with dp's brother. Or does he have any other family you can talk to?

NurseSunshine · 02/07/2011 09:54

Come on Millie!!

Thanks goodness Rosina is OK Merlion :) Bet that's a huge relief.

Hope Ruby's OK 8RD, am sure she is :)

We are over the moon to announce that our beautiful baby girl Kiera Isobelle was born at home in the pool at 6:03 this morning weighing a whopping 9lb 1. Despite exhaustion we are all very well - tiny tear and no stitches!! Xx

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 02/07/2011 10:28

Congrats and well done Millie. Love then name Kiera (but DH was never convinced).

Also Congrats to neenewps for your wee boy.

Alba finally let me sleep at about half 3 thismorning after a mammoth sucking and feeding session. When I'm feeling a bit more normal I'm going to have to get her body clock sorted!!

Merlion · 02/07/2011 10:31

Congrats Millie so pleased you got the birth you wanted! Enjoy your snuggles!

curiouselle · 02/07/2011 10:32

congratulations millie! you must be delighted - enjoy your first weekend with your daughter :) x

crazychic141187 · 02/07/2011 11:12

Congratulations Millie that's a beautiful name!

Maisie slept really well last night! She was in her basket from half 10 till 3, woke for a feed and stayed asleep till 7 then came into bed with me for another two hours!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 02/07/2011 11:26

Trying to catch up while Alba feeds, but keep getting distracted.

My advice for those of you in stop start labour, go to your nearest playground, find a swing or climbing frame, squat under it, holding the frame for support. This seems to have been the magic trick for me on Thursday night, because after doing that for a few minutes (while DS climbed on the climbing ropes) the waddling the 2 mins home, asoon as I was in the door with the TV on getting ready for another frustrating night, I went into proper labour!

Prisoner Please please find the time to talk to your DP. You really can't carry on this way.

takethatlady · 02/07/2011 12:12

Congratulations millie!! Beautiful names, and amazing to have your home birth, come out unscathed, and have a big robust baby in the meantime.

Thanks coaaf - glad Alba is feeding well, even if it's knackering you out! How did you know you had gone into proper labour? I had excruciating contractions from 8pm-6am every ten minutes last night. Just when I said to DH I couldn't take any more I feel asleep and woke up at 10am, and have only had two mild contractions since then. Called the hospital at 1am and they said it could be a week like this, it's not unusual for it to happen, and it's probably because the baby is in an awkward position (she is). Went on my hands and knees for an hour over the birthing ball and she was wriggling loads, but she's not moved much since I woke up a couple of hours ago (the odd kick but nothing major, which is usual for this time of day) and she still feels really really high and back to back.

I'll try the squats!!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/07/2011 12:18

Millie - well done and congratulations, love the names you have picked :)

TTL - Oh goodness I can feel your frustration! It took a week before my labour got started, but when it did it was over fairly quickly!! I hope you do get to established labour quicker than me!
