Sorry kri5ty. do you mind me asking why you're high-risk, is there any chance of a homebirth in future pregnancies instead?

DarciesmumandBump2 · 31/07/2011 09:46

morning all.

Kri5ty sorry to hear that.

have started washing some of the baby stuff. Mainly duvets, sheets & blankets etc

baby decides 4am is a good time to have a good kick around lol.

KateM77 · 31/07/2011 10:57

Honey my placenta was low-lying with DD at 20 week scan. Got a bonus 34 week scan to check on things and it had moved out of the way. I think it's a really high percentage of cases where it does move. Keeping thinking positive, it'll all be fine

sevendwarves · 31/07/2011 11:43

Typical darcies, mine seems to favour around 10pm which is a really nice time as I'm still up but usually just relaxing on the sofa.

Only 3 days until my next scan, I'm so excited about finding out what we're having!

Does anyone else feel like time is really flying? I can't believe we're already halfway there.

Mrsxstitch · 31/07/2011 14:33

Kir5ty I am having a section. I am not looking forward to stay in hospital particularly.

BeeMyBaby · 31/07/2011 15:16

seven I definitely feel like time is flying with this one!

Mrsxstitch how did your wedding go? Did you go on honeymoon?

msbuggywinkle · 31/07/2011 18:33

Good weekends everyone?

We finally saw my sister yesterday, she's still hobbling and her painkillers are making her find it really hard to concentrate. She's been signed off work until September! But she is on the mend and non-infectious so I can go round and look after her this week while her DH is away with work!

Spent today at the IL's, DDs were playing in DP's old baby bath in the garden all afternoon and are nicely tired now!

Cherrypi · 31/07/2011 18:59

Hi all. Finally started baby shopping. Having no luck finding a pram that works for us. Travel system, parent facing in pushchair mode, warm enough for winter and will fit in a micra? So have bought a moby wrap and a reusable nappy trial kit to compensate for a useless afternoon. Anyone else started shopping?

figgygal · 31/07/2011 20:34

Cherry I have a Nissan figaro which is just a micra floorplate and I've decided to get a baby jogger as u can get a carrycot and car seat adaptors to effectively make it a travel system but it folds mega flat and so fits in my car. Also the babyjogger can go from birth to 50lbs so might last a bit longer than some of the others I've researched.

sevendwarves · 31/07/2011 21:15

msbuggy glad your sister is on the mend.

cherry is there a toysrus anywhere near where you are? When we were looking to buy DS's pushchair we went to our nearest one and they let us try out any that we liked, seeing how easily they fit in the car etc.

After much struggling we've finally come up with a girls name we both agree on, so it's definitely either James or Ava.

My mum phoned earlier to say that she's just finished knitting a cardigan, hat and mittens for the baby, she knitted the same cardigan for my sisters DD and it's so cute.

Mizza76 · 01/08/2011 06:26

Hi all, just to let you know that my brother and SIL named their son yesterday and did not taken "my" boy's name. Actually they chose something really lovely that I hadn't even thought of. i suppose I should be v relieved (ok, I am) but now I'm thinking, if they didn't want "my" name, maybe I don't either and I should start again, ha ha!

V impressed that everyone has started shopping / washing baby clothes, I'm away from home until the end of the summer and prob won't get around to any of that until a few weeks before the baby is born....

kri5ty · 01/08/2011 07:29

aww mrsbuggy thats great news about your sis :)

stitch im sorry to hear about cs, they still aren't sure with me, so they are going to try for a "normal" delivery first. A friend of mine was booked in for a cs, and she came around to the idea, knowing exactly when her dd was going to be born :) they looked after her really well, and were fab and helping her afterwards!

thanks girlies, i'm only high risk due to a medical condition i have, i asked about the birth unit (knowing what the answer would be) and the Mw just laughed :( so i know its alot more sensible to be in hospital, and i dont mind... i get a lovely ds at the end of it :o

kri5ty · 01/08/2011 07:31

Ooo we also came up with his name at the weeked so i am happy about that! Although i wanted to buy yhings for the nursery and oh just said... "there is no rush" :( then there was a long conversation of me trying to explain i wanted to do it before i got too big and couldnt help haha

OiMissus · 01/08/2011 07:40

Morning all!
mizza glad they didn't take your baby name - but what did they choose, we're still struggling finding a boy's name? msbuggy good news about your sister. :)
We've found a house to buy that we both really love! Grin So excited! I had fallen for one we'd seen in May, but DH was unsure because of how much we'd have to spend to get it right. On Saturday we saw 5 houses, and both fell for one - the house is perfect. Needs nothing doing inside. But it needs a garden building, it just has a massive courtyard/paved area, so we can still really make our mark on it. (Dreaming about a large decked patio area for entertaining, a lawn for playing footie on, a hidey-hole space for the kiddies to build their den, and plenty drive area for learning to ride bikes etc. ) Just GOT to sell ours now! THEN we can start getting ready for the baby. Everything's on hold til then. We don't have storage space yet!
And the time is flying by!
And I'm really starting to look pregnant - you can see my bump in most clothes now.
have a great week everyone! Who's got their scans today? :)

OiMissus · 01/08/2011 07:45

kristy - hurrah for finding a name that you both like! (I'm not sure we ever will!)
If it's any consolation, my two best friends had cs's, and were absolutely fine and had pleasant experiences. It must be great to know exactly when it's going to happen. And its so quick, none of this 17 hours of pushing - you're done in 20 minutes! Look to the positives - if it's best for you and the baby, it must be right. :)

Cheaptrick · 01/08/2011 07:46

Morning everyone.

Is it normal to have your first consultant meeting a day before my 20 week scan? Should i call them up and see if i can have my scan before i see the consultant?

Consultant meeting is on Wednesday scan is on Thursday.

OiMissus · 01/08/2011 07:59

morning cheaptrick, I have no consultant, so no idea, but I think it's definitely worth trying to make your scan appointment on the same day.

kri5ty · 01/08/2011 08:09

hey cheaptrick it really doesnt matter when your consultant app will be... i had mine at 17 weeks... basically its just annoying as you have to go to the hosp twice!

All mine did, was read through my notes, ask a few questions, then write me a plan (which just said, early epidural, try for vaginal delivery with poss of cs)

Then he made another app for me to see him in october, he didnt discuss anything about the 12 week scan or anything like that x

kri5ty · 01/08/2011 08:14

yayyyy vanessa im really happy you found a house!!!

Fingers crossed the move goes smoothly and then you can buy all the baby things!!!

As for the name... it was a name i suggested agesss ago, dan didnt like it, but then on saturday he proclaimed " i have thought of an amazing babyname"... and said the exact same on he said he didn't like!! lol we like it, but are not sure if any of our friends or family will (so we are keeping it too ourselves) but it is Saul (i think dan likes it as it is Slash's real name!)

Saul Harrison Ancell hmm looks strange like that! lol

OiMissus · 01/08/2011 08:33

I like it! I had considered Saul too, but DH wasn't so keen - maybe he'll have an idea later too! (But don't worry, we won't take it!) I also really like Harrison. Harrison Ashworth - perfect. But someone in Stuart's family had that and it didn't turn out well, so we can't have it. :(

kri5ty · 01/08/2011 08:42

haha well if he does decide to have an "idea" use it lol, it doesnt bother me!

aww we had similar problems, a lot of names we loved but couldnt use
Knowing dan he will chage his mind in a week or so and say he doesnt like it anymore haha

msbuggywinkle · 01/08/2011 09:46

When I had a consultant for DD1, I did see her before my 20 week scan.

Is anyone else booking a 3D scan? We had one with DD2 and it was amazing, out hospital are doing them now, so I'm booking one for in a few weeks.

DD2 has just told me that I have a 'big normous baby bump', so far, three people have asked if it is twins. I'm replying, 'no, just knackered stomach muscles after the other 2!'

kri5ty · 01/08/2011 09:50

awww mrsbuggy DD2 sounds sooo cute!!

I want to have a 3D scan, but OH isn't convinced... a friend wants to pay half for me though so we may just go together as i really want to :) how far along is it you have to be?

Cherrypi · 01/08/2011 10:18

Thanks seven and figgy. I would prefer four wheels but think that may be the compromise I have to make. Spent afternoon in toys-r-us. Going to kiddicare in a couple of weeks so should find something there. Lovely names by the way. So tired this morning. Feel like I'm back in the first trimester. Didn't help the lift is broken. Grump grump.

OiMissus · 01/08/2011 10:23

Everyone keeps telling me to have a 3d scan, but the few I've seen look a bit scary, so I'm not going to do it. I don't fancy the video either. - the pennies saved can go towards more nursery nonsense!

  • This is, of course, entirely personal! I've not been too enthralled by our 12 and 20 week scan pics either, I must be hard to please!
