msbuggywinkle - Big Hugs

msbuggywinkle · 21/07/2011 17:32

Well, my sister has been moved to the infectious diseases ward with meningitis! She seems to have a moderate case of it, but they're testing to see which virus cased it before they can start treating her. I'm not allowed in to see her, so I keep crying and feeling helpless.

We're not going away for DD1's birthday now, will take her out for pancakes for breakfast and to the cinema and build-a-bear instead. None of us can deal with either of the other two situations yet, we just need to know what is going on with DSis first.

jigglebum · 21/07/2011 18:15

Had my 20 week scan today so thought it was time to post a bit and get to know you all. I think we have not really been focused on this pregnancy too much up till now (due to previous miscarriage, having a 3 year old and too much else going on!) I think now I am starting to accept the reality of it all now and beginning to get excited. We did not find out if it is a boy or a girl. I have a ds and think I would like a girl this time but obviously don't mind at all.

Really sorry to hear about your sister msbuggy hope you get some good news soon.

Re jobs - I have been looking for a part time job since moving to a new area 2 years ago. I am a teacher too. Ironically I now have to perfect part time job for Sep! very embarrassing starting when 6 months pregnant but they have been really nice about it and I will try to work till the end of Nov (due on 12th Dec) as only part time. I will go back the following Sep.

We have been thinking a little about names - only one boys name we both like and a couple of girls ones. but heh only need one of each I suppose!

Hope everyones scans go well.

Awomancalledhorse · 21/07/2011 18:59

Msbuggy I'm glad they've found out what is wrong with your sister, hope you get to see her soon.

jigglebum, glad your scan went well!
Bloody typical that you've found a job now, glad they're letting you come back next year.

sevendwarves · 21/07/2011 20:23

mrsbuggywinkle so sorry about everything that's going on, at least they know what's wrong with your sister and can start treating her, hope she gets better soon.

My appointment went really well today, got to hear baby again which was great. I've been put on aspirin to lower my chances of getting pre-eclampsia again. She also said she wants me to have extra scans at 28 and 36 weeks as DS was small when he was born. I asked whether DS being born prematurely was related to my pre-eclampsia and she said probably not, and she won't be surprised if I don't make it to my 36 week scan, which could mean I'm already over halfway there, eek!

aethelfleda · 21/07/2011 23:04

mrsbuggy, sorry to hear about your sister but good that it's something treatable and hopefully with time she'll completely recover. Big hug in the meantime.

seven, good to hear the antenatal guys are being pro-active with you, not everyone gets repeat pre-eclampsia so let's hope you escape this time!

Bored bored bored of looking pudgy not pregnant! I'm also very irritated that my morning sickness hasn't gone, I'm 17 weeks and with my DDs things got better by 15 weeks. Hmmm, could this be a blue one???

OiMissus · 22/07/2011 07:32

Mrsbuggy - glad to hear that your sister will soon be on the mend. You sound like a very nice sister - mine has never taken me for pancakes!

And glad to hear that all others' scans are going so well.

I'm 21 weeks in now - which means I'm just over half way there - it's incredible how quickly the time has flown! Scary!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/07/2011 07:58

MsBuggy sorry about your sister being poorly, although at least they've found out one thing and they can start treating her so hopefully she'll get better soon.

Seven Good to see your appt went well and they are being good at keeping on top of what might happen again.

I'm 18 weeks and considering myself to be half way already, DD was born at 39wks and hopefully this one will be too Grin

OiMissus · 22/07/2011 08:17

yikes... 21/39 x 100

msbuggywinkle · 22/07/2011 08:28

Thank you everyone, she was very pleased to have her own room because of being infectious! She'd had no sleep the night before.

Back to the pregnancy stuff, well, all the stress woke my baby up he/she was flipping around all day yesterday! I'm getting braxton hicks when I throw up now, which means I bend over the toilet to throw up, it triggers a BH and then I can't get back up! The DDs are being very lovely to the bump, they sing to it and talk to it and yesterday DD2 was 'feeding' the baby crisps into my belly button!

Any exciting plans for the weekend? Its DD1's 5th birthday tomorrow so lots of fun planned here.

sevendwarves · 22/07/2011 08:59

mrsbuggywinkle your girls sound lovely. DS sings to my bump and gives it kisses, it's so nice to think hes already bonding with the baby and he's really looking forward to being a big brother.

kri5ty · 22/07/2011 10:47

mrsbuggywinkle again another message for your sister :) at least they know what it is, so they can treat it, and like she said... she gets her own room now!! It must be hard not seeing her though

OiMissus im 49% yayyyy and also scarrrry lol

ThePippy · 22/07/2011 12:15

Hey all. Sorry to hear about your sister mrsbuggy hopefully they will get her back to herself soon. Good that they have caught it.

Just back from scan. Everything looks perfect, right size, right place, all working as it should. Bit in shock though as we are having a boy!! I have 1 DD and I am one of 3 DD's so I have no experience of boys at all and the whole idea is quite a lot to get my head around. Completely delighted mind you, just a bit stunned as I was sure it was a girl.

Any willy advice much appreciated therefore ;-)

OiMissus · 22/07/2011 12:23

Congratulations ThePippy.
No willy advice to give, I'm afraid. My nephew is an angel, my friend's son is a little devil.
All I know is that boys' clothes aren't as cute, but boys' toys are more fun. :)

In summary: willies have their ups and downs!

...Which is how we all got to chat to eachother. :)

ThePippy · 22/07/2011 12:58

that made me chucke OiMissus

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/07/2011 14:33

MsBuggy good to see your DSis is on the mend.

ThePippy congrats on having a boy and that everything looks alright Grin

I still have yet to convince DP to let me find out the sex Hmm

Migraine has downgraded to mild headache today which I'm very grateful for. My BP however is on the low side of low 92/56 today, need to keep monitoring it as explains my dizzyness.
DD loves kissing, singing and telling stories to bump.

sevendwarves · 22/07/2011 14:42

thepippy congratulations on having a boy! wrt willy advice, in babies if it comes up they're about to pee so always keep an eye on it whilst changing them!

Mrsxstitch · 22/07/2011 19:56

Hello everyone, not ignoring any previous posts just not had time to catch up. Not been on for a while with the wedding and other issues.

Got my 20 week scan on Monday and really nervous.

KateM77 · 23/07/2011 10:18

Congratulations mrsxstitch hope the wedding went well.

20 weeks today for me, and scan on Monday too. Feeling quite nervous, just want to know that all is OK. So, halfway there, or quite a bit more than halfway if this one arrives as early as DD did! Scay stuff Grin

KateM77 · 23/07/2011 10:19

or even scary stuff, excuse my typing Blush

sevendwarves · 23/07/2011 17:36

Kate how early was your DD?

I'm getting very excited looking through the mothercare catalogue!

KateM77 · 23/07/2011 20:00

She arrived at 37 weeks, so officially term but still quite an early surprise for us!

msbuggywinkle · 24/07/2011 09:26

My DD1 was born at 37 weeks, born on the day I had planned to make a load of meals for the freezer! So we were left with a house full of food and no time to cook...I had everything ready by 35 weeks with DD2 who turned up 4 days early. We're hoping that this one will be a day or two late as that means DP will be into their Christmas break and can take his paternity in January, almost a month off!
