Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BarbieLovesKen · 11/06/2011 08:06

And just thinking, consultant who
Did sweep on the 2nd said he highly doubted I'd make my next GP appointment - I.e on the 8th. GP tells me on Friday (I went a day late) that it was highly doubtful I'd make Tuesday's induction and I'd "go" over the weekend. I wish they'd fuck off and keep their opinions to themselves because it'd not fair Sad

misshoohaa · 11/06/2011 08:09

barbie x post. That sucks, I don't really know what else to say. How disappointing for you, and how can MW say such ridiculous things to pregnant women!??

I guess just focus on Tuesday with the knowledge that the end is sight.

But I would be having a massive tantrum as well so feel free to throw toys everywhere, and have a big ol' kick and punch if it helps you vent!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/06/2011 08:27

Barbie - I am soooo disappointed for you, did they not even offer to give you another sweep or a prostaglandin pessary to get you started???
I am with you about getting Angry with people saying "oh yes we'll see you by x for the delivery" and "Oh I won't see you by Y as you'll have had it by then"

Just snapped at DH because he said "think baby is coming today"!
It'll come when it fecking comes!!

Labella - sorry your labour hasn't started fx it'll be soon.

MOSP - I've never heard of milk fever either! Hope you are feeling better today and can enjoy the wedding. Hopefully for the bride's sake he is as ugly as sin so you don't upstage her Wink I am only joking, I am certain he is a cute, squidgy bundle of loveliness Smile I am so impressed with you getting it together to go, and the suite sounds great!

Sorry haven't names checked everyone, hope the pregnant are all okay and the mums of newborns are managing to get some rest!

BarbieLovesKen · 11/06/2011 08:33

Thank you so much misshooha and you're right about Tuesday.

Oooh meant to say , nurse when I was in the hospital last night, a girl came in exclaiming that she was going out of her absolute mind from the itch on her tummy - I heard the consultant (nosey ear wigged emotion) telling her she would prescribe her an antihistamine for relief ( why can't I remember the name, something very like puritan ) but just wanted to let you know that they can be prescribed during pregnancy...

milliemuffin · 11/06/2011 09:16

Barbie so sorry to hear you had an unsuccessful night. I know it's hard but the end is in site now.

I know a few people have mentioned itchy tums but has anyone had itchy fingers/toes? I've had it on and off but nothing major but his morning they're really itchy and you can see where I've been scratching.

We're just trying to decide what to do today with the DC's incase it's our last weekend as a 4some!

Merlion · 11/06/2011 09:20

Miss I think it might be piriton?

Barbie argh must be so frustrating for you.

MOSP I thought milk fever was only for animals Grin. But in all seriousness that was how my mastitis was except accompanied by red patch/blockage. But definitely had the shakes etc. Enjoy the wedding we're supposed to be at one today but a bit too far to travel with a newborn! A 13 hour flight doesn't appeal.

Moog72 · 11/06/2011 09:54

Oh Barbie - so sorry for you - that must be so so frustrating :(

Labella - good luck - hope the induction goes well. Can completely relate to feelings of sleep deprivation having had another horrible night of no sleep here.

Prisoner - bloody pub! I too have told DH that he won't be witnessing the birth of his child if he is drunk!

Am 39+4 today so not in the overdue club so I know I have no right to whinge... so I won't for now!

Misshooha - I had a similar feeling about names we had for a boy and have now changed it to a different one which I love. But I think you are right - when you associate the baby with the name, the name becomes that baby and you will fall in love with name and baby... hopefully!

sasamaxx · 11/06/2011 10:03

Oh no MOSP that sounds horrid Sad
I am soaking through everything at the moment but I really can't complain when you have a real problem like that.
I'd compare the baby's noises to a duck - so mine are more like 'quackducks' Grin
OMG Barbie Shock - what a ridiculous palaver for you to go through. You so don't need this (((Barbie)))
Kara hoping things establish for you really soon.

curiouselle · 11/06/2011 10:41

millie it just be a reaction to swelling but if it's bad check it out with your mideife asap my friend had the same and it turned out to be obstretic cholestasis, which is a pregnancy induced liver problem. it's probably not and don't want to make you nervous but I would call midwife if its bad itching, my friend wanted to throw her feet out the window during the night!

jasmine51 · 11/06/2011 11:32

Random post alert - I'm trying to be a domestic goddess again.... confusingly Ive just found a sultana in my cleavage....but the recipe is a beef casserole and doesnt even have sultanas in Confused

NoToast · 11/06/2011 11:38

Aue Barbie what a nightmare. After all you've been through to get a quip about dieting too, that's all you need. A lovely Brew for you, and hurry up babyBarbie vibes.

Good luck to labella.

I've had a few symptoms my placenta might be starting to degrade so it's induction time for me on Monday. Been wanting to avoid it but now it's necessary I'm just going to get on with it. Am hoping a deadline will incite a mimi-toastie to pop out this weekend but no encouraging signs yet...

Thornykate · 11/06/2011 11:40

OMD barbie that is so crap! I know how I was feeling on Monday with the on /off induction and that was when they were only putting me off for a day so you must be so peed off by now. FWIW when I returned to the hosp on monday night after being told I was only coming back so I didn't lose my bed and they had decided that they did want to break my waters there & then at 1am I absolutely panicked as after all the stop starting I somehow didn't feel ready....v irrational pg woman feelings! So at least you are being consistent Wink this might be controversial but I know that after that 3rd internal (done at about 11:30 pm) I was starting off anyway so maybe if you get a bit more ctrx & want to be checked it might help IYSWIM. I understand though that you probably just feel like staying away from the hosp for the next 3 days after the way they've been. Sending you a virtual hug anyway xxx

miss I have been the same with names but now she's got one it is fitting her although I call her Tiggy for short most of the time anyway Smile

mosp hope you enjoy the wedding & feel better soon.

kara how's it going?

Itchy hands & feet deffo need checking out just in case Millie I think they just do a blood test to be on safe side.

Little one is waking up so time to move...

Re tips for 1st timers; take lactulose regularly after birth, it won't make you poo but will make it easier when the time comes, v important esp if you have stitches.

Thornykate · 11/06/2011 11:42

X post hope you ok notoast only 2 more pg nights for you now though.

Forgot to say good luck to labella too Smile

NoToast · 11/06/2011 11:45

re: cleavage posts: clearly our bumps are so big they now have their own gravitational fields that attract small objects. Mine collects stains.

I am not a domestic goddess. I made the Nigella banana muffins the other day and forgot to put in sugar. D'oh.

jasmine51 · 11/06/2011 12:09

Notoast what symptoms? Not being paranoid or anything but that is one of the fears the consultant has for me...what are the signs?

misshoohaa · 11/06/2011 12:17

Haha on the cleavage jasmine and I'm with you Notoast I put a loaf of bread on the other night and forgot to put the yeast in. Doh!

TMI warning - lots of snotty discharge and also quite a few loose poo's this morning - good sign? No blood in the show (if that's what it is) so trying not to get too excited. Those more experienced than me will curse me for saying I can't wait for contractions to start - but honestly I have to say I really am looking forward to the first few just so I know the ball is rolling....after that I'm sure I won't be so enthused!

PerpetualProvocateur · 11/06/2011 12:39

Not to gloat, but I've just had the most amazing night of sleep. I've been sleeping like crap lately, getting up around 4-5 times a night needing the loo, But last night I managed to sleep from about 1-7 before needing to get up, then went back to bed until 11! Feeling nice and rested; would be great for labour to kick off now. Still six days out from due date, though, so unlikely, but I've had loads of BHs and some period cramp-like twinges this morning.

Barbie and Kara, I can't believe you're still waiting. FX today is the day...

Good luck with induction Labella!

AlmightyCitrus · 11/06/2011 12:49

"you'll just have a lot of dieting to do after this" Shock Barbie If you ever see that midwife again PUNCH HER!!! That is a terrible thing to say. I'd of ripped her a new one on the spot.

Glad everyone is enjoying their new enhanced boobage! Mine are massive to start with so I'm used to fishing all sorts of food and small plastic toys out of them. Smothered a wasp to death down there once! But thats another story Grin.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/06/2011 12:51

PP - yey for a good night's sleep! I had one the other day, and it was bliss!!

Mishoohaa - yep sounds like it could be a good sign!

Have now had 23 hours of cx... and still may not be in established labour.

NurseSunshine · 11/06/2011 13:12

(((HUGE HUGS))) to Barbie, can't believe what you're having to go through :( And for that stupid, insensitive cow to pass comments about dieting as well Angry
Don't feel as though you're putting anyone out though. Your mum and aunty will've been only too glad to help and it's hardly like you're doing it on purpose is it. You are the only one who's being put out at this point xxx

Get better soon MOSP, and enjoy the wedding :)

Thorny I love your name btw, esp the nickname Tiggy. So sweet!

Millie as others have said, let your MW know ASAP about tchy hands and feet as it can be a sign of obstetric choleostasis which would need monitoring.

Hope you're alright Kara

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 11/06/2011 13:45

Jasmine I've just made chelsea buns. Does that mean I'm going to find a chunk of beef in my bra?

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 11/06/2011 14:37

I've had a punching bag installed in the corner by a dreamy Adonis. You get first go.

Think my LO is moving down as suddenly the sciatica that was set off by my infected cyst the other week, has returned, along with some twinges. Nothing is actually happening though (not ready yet baby, so stay put til Tuesday!).

NoToast · 11/06/2011 15:06

Thanks Thorny ! That gave me a bit of a jolt, only 2 sleeps to go to no sleeps!

MissHoohaa oh dear!

Jasmine don't want to make you paranoid, it's just the amount of insulin I need is dropping and that's a sign the placenta isn't functioning as well as it was. The only other change for me is instinctual- I've always had a heartfelt resistance to induction and have always felt the baby was 100% safe and well and should be left alone, overnight that's switched to a feeling that the bunny needs to come out and a complete acceptance of whatever that takes. Call me an old hippy (and I am) but I'm going to trust myself on this Grin.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/06/2011 15:37

Still going

NoToast - go with your gut. And good luck with Monday's inductionSmile

Barbie - next time you go in to hospital I hope your waters break all over that horrid MW!

sasamaxx · 11/06/2011 16:23

Saturday night and it's rainy and miserable here. Was our gala day today but it's a total washout - had baby Celeste in the sling (see what I did there? Wink) but then she needed a feed and it was far too wet and cold to find a bench and get the bazookas out so had to race for home.

Sending labour vibes to Kara and Barbie
