19th would be a great day to become a dad wouldn't it Smile

sasamaxx · 09/06/2011 20:53

Jasmine Grin at scared cervix.
When you had colposcopy, did they actually carry out any procedures?
My sister had a cone biopsy, and cold coagulation and had no probs at birth - hope that is reassuring in some way.
Why are they worried about your pelvis? Did they decide this at the scan?

milliemuffin · 09/06/2011 20:55

crazychic I moan at DP for spending too much time on the ps3 but most evenings I'm either fb'ing, tending to my farm in farmville or MN'ing! I'll be busy with baby soon though whereas he'll still be playing games til 1am then complaining that he's tired. Xx

milliemuffin · 09/06/2011 20:57

I've just painted my nails but baby has just squashed my bladder so I really need to wee but can't or I'll smudge the paint!

TabithaTwitchet · 09/06/2011 21:03

I haven't been on this thread for months, it always moved too fast for me to keep up on my useless phone Blush, so you probably all don't know who I am, but thought I would pop back tonight as I think I am in labour, and feeling a bit scared (even though this is my second).
Have been having on-off contractions since last night, have been timing them for the past hour and they are about 10 minutes apart now. Not too painful though...
DH has gone to collect mum to look after DD, I am worrying I won't know when to go into hospital etc, and that it is going to hurt (big wimp emoticon). Anyone around with encouragement and advice?

8rubberduckies · 09/06/2011 21:12

Hi Tabitha I remember you! How exciting that you're in labour! I completely sympathise with you about being scared, and worried about the pain. Try to relax though, as one of the things that has stuck in my mind that I have been told recently is that being tense makes the pain worse.

I worry that I won't know when I need to go into hospital, and cannot remember how long the contractions need to be or how ften before you go in, but have you thought about calling the delivery suite and asking them?

You can do it!!!!

8rubberduckies · 09/06/2011 21:14

PS Glad things went well today Jasmine - I also have a scared cervix I think Grin.

knackered76 · 09/06/2011 21:16

Hi Tabitha I remember you too! Try to keep as relaxed as possible and go to hospital when you want to, don't worry about being too 'early'. To help you stay relaxed you need to be where you feel most relaxed and if that's at hospital then go there. If you have an i-pod stick on your favourite music and wander around listening to it, I found it helped shutting out the world!

Good luck and look forward to hearing of your new arrival :)

8rubberduckies · 09/06/2011 21:32

Tabitha if you're still there I'm off to bed, but I'm sure someone else will be along soon to keep you company alongside Knackered. Good luck Smile, looking forward to hearing your good news x

BarbieLovesKen · 09/06/2011 21:33

Ooh tabitha how exciting!!!! (I remember you too btw) you're not a wimp for being scared - with my ds I was desperate to go into labour but when my waters first broke, my first reaction was to burst into tears and wail I wasn't ready yet (I was overdue Grin). Don't be scared! Eyes on the prize - keep thinking - you're about to meet your gorgeous baby Smile

I second 8 - give the labour ward a call and ask all those questions - will be one less thing to be worrying about.

Squeeeeel - so excited!!!!!!

What's your due date??

(Millie glad I'm not the only one ridiculously excited over app SmileGrinSadWinkAngryEnvyBlush)

milliemuffin · 09/06/2011 21:36

Hi Tabitha - try to breath normally. I remember with DD (DC2) I was overcome with adrenalin/fear to start with and was breathing so fast but take a few deep breaths, concentrate on breathing nice deep breaths and you'll (hopefully) find the contractions slightly easier to manage. Best of luck xx

milliemuffin · 09/06/2011 21:38

Barbie How daft are we SmileGrinSadWinkAngryEnvyBlush

curiouselle · 09/06/2011 22:15

Hi tabitha the advice from my ward during the tour was when contractions are 5 mins apart and you are struggling to talk during a contraction then it's time to get to hospital, however she did say that was dependent on how far away you lived etc. and it's a busy inner city hospital. She also said to ring with any questions as this help you but also means that they can plan themselves for you coming in. To be fair worst case scenario if you turn up is you are examined and turned away, so if going makes you feel better do that also!

But also WOW you are likely going to meet your little baby very soon Grin

I don't have an iphone and samsung don't do the mumsnet app Envy

NurseSunshine · 09/06/2011 22:31

Good luck Tabitha :)

I'm just getting to grips with the app. I'm thinking there are going to be a whole load more smilie faces as they are right there!!

I am completely unable to scroll down though which is a pain as my brain is now the size of a pea and I can't remember who posted what recently!

I do remember that tabitha (i remember you too) is in labour so really really lots of good labour vibes for you.

barbie & kara hope things start happening for you both.

I don't think I have posted since MOSP has had Percy so many congratulations to you.

And thank you to MOSP & sasa for your birth stories. I love hearing other peoples experiences.

First of my NCT group had her baby yesterday. She was due 4 days before me! Had my 38 week check today and everything seems to be ok. Need to go back at 39 weeks as they want to keep an eye on my BP even though it is fine.

My headaches have gone now. Thank you so much for asking. It seems they were stress headaches although I feel a fraud as really don't have anything to be stressed about!

Wonder if we will have any more babies to wake up to in the morning Smile thread is really exciting.

Joannezipan · 09/06/2011 23:01

Oh new app! How exciting! GrinGrin
I'm sorry for not doing a major catch up, I have read through most of it, but I'm having a baby brain evening. I got DH some soothing bath salts and apparently a soak in the bath has helped. It is his birthday tomorrow and he isn't going in to work as he is still too sore. So we are going out for lunch Smile.

tabitha good luck, remain calm and breath and you will be fine.
Jasmine Grin at being the poo expert!
Right off to bed. Nigh night all.

sasamaxx · 09/06/2011 23:03

Boo - I can't find the app on the android market

PrisonerZero · 09/06/2011 23:05

Thanks Jasmine, I will try your tips, no birthing ball thought unfortunately, will have to bounce on the edge of the sofa instead!

Good luck Tabitha!

I had sex Shock Grin didn't fancy it to be honest but it was the midwifes suggestion so......

Am off to bed now, so only a short message as am posting in the dark for some reason Hmm

Fingers crossed for babies soon!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/06/2011 05:38

Prisoner - ditto, we DTD last night it was rather uncomfortable! Nothing has happened so far though :(

Joanne - how is the cough?

Tabitha - go girl!! Definitely ring labour ward for advice, as guidelines when to come in can vary.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 10/06/2011 05:42

Just wanted to say good morning. Trying to read yest afternoon/nights stuff, but think i might go back to bed and try to read sleep.

Actually slept til about 4.45 today, rather than 2.45 so guess I can't really complain about being awake at stupid o'clock.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 10/06/2011 05:42

Morning Kara.

neenewps · 10/06/2011 07:15

Morning Kara

Let's hope DTD will kick start things again. I can't find your thread? Is it still going?

COAAF I was awake at ridiculous o'clock too but managed to get back off. Up now as DH is getting ready for work and we always have breakfast together. Then I sometimes sneak back into bed Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/06/2011 07:15

Go back to bed! Was also up equally early trying to bank as much sleep as I can so will nap later!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/06/2011 07:20

Newneeps, thread is in Chat, will bump it now.

milliemuffin · 10/06/2011 08:04

Why do I keep waking up in such a bad mood! Every morning DS asks (lots of!) questions about what's happening today and sometimes I really don't have the energy to answer him. Not his fault, he's just inquisitive but sometimes it drives me insane. Doesn't help that the house is filthy, I only hoovered/swept 2 days ago but already it's a state and I want it perfect for when baby arrives. So much to do but not enough energy and an 18mo running around making more mess. And I just ran the kids a quick bath but left the cold tap on too much so ended up with a bath full of cold water. Sad
