Your poor DH Joanne Hope he and bike aren't permanently damaged.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 08/06/2011 20:54

Thank you for the Norway explanation!!

Joanne - eek glad your DH is okay, but oh dear what a silly man!!

MW been, 1-2 cm dilated, expected to come back later.

Had G&A for the fanny rummage (have major issues with such exams due to suffering from vaginismus for years) and OMFG was off my head and laughing like a loon Grin

moomin156 · 08/06/2011 20:58

good luck kara hope to hear news of a little snuggly bundle in the morning

crazychic141187 · 08/06/2011 21:25

good luck kara very jealous of you as we were due date buddies and looks like yours in well on the way and my is being a stubborn little madam!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 08/06/2011 21:53

Awww cracychic! One of the HVs at my local sure start was also due yesterday and her baby is now 1 week old!!

milliemuffin · 08/06/2011 21:57

Best of luck Kara and Congrats to the new arrivals!

Feel utterly rubbish tonight so I know baby won't be arriving in the next day (I always feel on top of the world just before I go into labour). I'm in bed already, just had toast for tea as couldn't face dinner but then I have eaten quite alot of Birthday cake that my mum made for me. It's basically Christmas cake ie fruit cake with loads of marzipan and icing but no-one makes it like my mum :)

Reflexology tomorrow - can't wait!! I'll be 37+0 so officially allowed a homebirth.

Bump is getting lower and heavier every day so I'm praying it arrives no later than DS or DD (38+3 and 38+0).

Even though I had a great nights sleep last night (DCs were at PILs whilst I went to the O2 - which was great by the way apart from being very uncomfortable stuck in the seat) I'm falling asleep already.

Nite all xx

8rubberduckies · 08/06/2011 22:03

Evening everyone - I am just checking in, although I haven't caught up on the thread all day - I will settle myself with a cuppa in the morning after I've dropped DS off I think, as am so tired now.

Baby has dropped right down in my pelvis, I can feel her down there and have that intense pressure I remember from the last couple of weeks of pg with ds, as well as shooting pains! I think I went a bit over the top today with the nesting and cleared out DS's playroom and loaded the car with a binbag full of plastic tat unplayed-with toys to take to the charity shop. I then had two friends over with their kids, so a pretty hectic afternoon.

On a very positive note, I had a much better night's sleep last night (only woke up panicky once, and managed to calm myself down pretty quickly). I have listened to a hypnobirthing CD twice in the last 24 hours, ordered a couple of recommended books on childbirth (hopefully they'll turn up before the event), read some positive stories both on here and other sites and have made the decision to go for a vaginal birth rather than ELCS. I'm not saying I would be disappointed if I got told I had to have an ELCS because baby had turned again, but I want to give birthing naturally a go again, and am going to be open to using whatever damned drugs I need to get through it, although I am going to start off in the midwife-led-unit attached to the hospital and hopefully the birthing pool.

Thanks for your kind words of support over the last few days everyone here; I am still scared, but feel a lot better. If I need to I know I can let off steam here, as you are such a supportive group Smile.

Right, bed it is, it has been calling me ever since I got out of it this morning Grin.

Hopefully there will be more baby news in the morning!

BarbieLovesKen · 08/06/2011 22:17

crazy was just thinking of you! Really sorry to hear you're still waiting Sad

Hmm am wondering if petitech's absence means she's cuddled up with her new arrival?

kara how exciting!!! Am really looking forward to hearing official news of baby Starbuck. The best of luck -will be thinking of you.

Delighted to see daisy and super back - you were missed Smile

mosp and sasa hope you are recovering well and enjoying those first few days of getting to know your wee ones,

Still wondering where mn2 has got to.

Jasmine hope your dh is ok- TG he was wearing a helmet - doesn't bear thinking about!

moomin was really surprised to hear that about swaddling too. OCD being advised on both occasions with dc to swaddle and mws always helped me do it in the hospital. Found mind always slept better when swaddled. Apparently they haven't figured out how to stop their arms flying about and this makes them feel much more secure.

Did I say a huge congratulations to bprincess? I really hope so - keep loosing posts on my phone and can't remember what I've said and not said.

Snigger at "fanny rummage " - excellent Grin

Looks like I'm heading for day 12... Sad

Am I the only one here who hates gas and air? Does not agree with me at all, I remember with dd it made me so I'll I couldn't stop vomiting. Have been to afraid to try it ever since and refused it with ds (so had to have syntocin filled labour with no pain relief whatsoever). Presumably I'd have the same reaction if I tried if this time (if this baby ever decides to come)

PrisonerZero · 08/06/2011 22:54

Ok, so I had a little poke around. Cervix feels very different and I think my finger went into it Hmm when I wasn't actually trying to put my finger inside it, it just sort of fell in Blush (didn't actually try and sweep anything, just wanted to see what my cervix felt like)

sasamaxx · 08/06/2011 23:01

Go Kara Go!!

Congratulations Bprincess

Still trying to find MOSP's birth story, and wondering where Mummyno2 has got to

NurseSunshine · 08/06/2011 23:13

Prisoner I'm surprised and impressed you can even reach your cervix! Don't think I could get anywhere near it!

Mine, not yours

OP posts:
PrisonerZero · 08/06/2011 23:23

One foot on the edge of the toilet seat Blush - it was a bit of an effort though. I have quite a small bump though so maybe that helps. I wont be trying it again, just wanted to satisfy my odd curiousity.

NurseSunshine · 08/06/2011 23:27

I don;t think I could get my foot up on the toilet seat either! Blush I am gigantic

NoToast · 09/06/2011 01:30

Kara good luck, have fingers crossed for you. Can't wait to try the G&A now you've bigged it up. Have been sober for far too long.

Had to flee from Past Times shop today, intrusive sales assistant wanted to know, when I was due, what I was having and then went 'are you having twins, you're so errrrr......'. Nasty, insane lady.

milliemuffin · 09/06/2011 04:40

Can't sleep :(

KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/06/2011 05:09

Oh no Millie :( keep me company on my labour thread!

NoToast - horrid woman!! How very rude!

petitech · 09/06/2011 05:14

Hi there all, max william arrived yest morning 525 after long long labour which unfortunately ended in emergency c section. Oh well, all gpod now, tired but overjoyed xx

KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/06/2011 05:28

Petitech, aw sorry it ended in an emcs, but congrats on your little boy!

Those boys are starting to catch up now!

CitizenOscar · 09/06/2011 06:19

Congratulations petitech - hope you're ok & recovering well. Welcome to the world Max. Could you have a word with some of the other boy babies on this thread and encourage them along a bit? Thanks!

BarbieLovesKen · 09/06/2011 07:31

Huge congratulations petitech! am so pleased for you but very sorry things sounded so difficult.

kara how are you feeling? How are things progressing?

I'm sorry for such a depressing, me, me, me post buti can't take much more of this - each morning I wake up I'm feeling lower and lower. I'm visibly getting bigger and bigger by the days now. I am so exhausted - each day since iv went "over" is really telling on me and I'm worrying if I'll be too knackered to push her out/ care for her if this goes on much longer. I cannot believe it's the 9th June and I was supposed to have a baby around 28th may. 12 long fucking days and it looks like in here until my appointment next Tuesday. I wish someone would put me out of my misery and either shoot me or induce me. I can't understand what's wrong with my stupid body - why on earth Is it not going into labour? I don't understand this!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/06/2011 07:51

Barbie - Sad for you, I can't imagine how you must be feeling, has your MW discussed any other options with you?? Are you able to bring the induction date forward?

After non-stop czx since 1pm yesterday, it all seems to have come to a crashing halt! Perhaps I shouldn't have gone to sleep but was tired, and cx continued when you sleep.

BPrincess · 09/06/2011 07:58

Petitech huge congrats to you and Max - well done! Sorry you had the CS in the end, but if it's any consolation, I'm recovering well and feeling heaps more mobile, energetic, happy etc post-C-section than I was at the end of my pregnancy!

Barbie it WILL happen, please hang on in there. When you go into labour, the hormones will kick in and you'll cope. Just try and rest now as much as you can. Soon that big bump will be on the outside!

prisoner... just.... Ewwww.....!!

takethatlady · 09/06/2011 07:59

Congratulations petitech! Sorry it ended in EMCS but lovely to hear you are overjoyed and that little Max arrived safe and sound :) This thread is just so lovely every day now :)

Come on baby kara and baby barbie. Especially baby barbie. I still think you shouldn't have to wait until next Tuesday if you're already 41+5. Can you call your GP and explain how you're feeling in no uncertain terms? Maybe he/she will get you in somewhere? Really sorry you're feeling so fed up - no advice really but I sympathise. In the meantime, rub your areolas, drink some castor oil with orange juice, take some RLT, and go for a walk to the pineapple store Smile

This LO is definitely going to be late, I think - I'm only 37+4 but she's showing no signs of dropping and I've got none of the signs anybody has been talking about having in the last couple of weeks. I don't feel any different than I did at 35 or even 30 weeks really ... Not worried about this as yet whatsoever, especially as I still have loads of work to do!

Oh joanne really sorry to hear about the bike accident. I was knocked off my bike by a driver turning left on Milton Road a couple of years ago. She just turned left off the main road as I was riding in the cycle lane straight down the road (across the junction) without looking, hit me with the corner of her car and drove off! I fell off, getting whiplash and cuts and bruises, and then in a weird adrenaline rush got back on my bike and chased her to her house (she lived in the road she had turned into). I said 'you just knocked me off my bike' and she said it was my fault and her right of way!!! I tried to explain, and she told me to fuck off, said she didn't care that she'd hit me, dared me to call the police and threatened to set her dog on me. I did call the police and they told me to wait there and they'd come out! Half an hour later I realised they weren't coming, so i rang again and they told me to cycle to the station and give a statement! I did, and then because I had, they said I clearly wasn't very badly hurt, and it took 5 months of me chasing them for them to even go to the woman's house. Of course, she denied it.

Anyway, that ended up being very me me me. But just to say I sympathise with how it shakes you up even when you've been lucky and you're not hurt, especially when the driver denies all responsibility. Hope your DH is feeling okay today.

BarbieLovesKen · 09/06/2011 08:02

Thank you both so much Smile

Bloody he'll kara - you poor thing - how frustrating!!! Sending you lots of contraction type vibes - have found your thread - will be keeping an eye and crossing my fingers

BarbieLovesKen · 09/06/2011 08:07

X posts with ttl - thank you too Smile induction date appears to be set in stone (grr) and it's very very difficult to get someone to listen to you over here if you haven't went down the private route (2.5k - 4k up front and then the remainder is claimed on your health insurance so you have to have that too) am considering trying to speak to someone today regardless..
