Thanks for sharing your birth stories Sasa and MOSP - it is so lovely to read.

Well my grumpiness continues. I have gone from being completely relaxed a couple of days ago, to deciding I WANT my baby now. Am not even due for another 6 days though. It is DD's birthday on Friday so I guess it would be nice to have that first but I feel so uncomfortable and full of indigestion and aches and pains I just want things to start happening now. Sorry for the moan.

Anyone else due next Tuesday??

jasmine51 · 08/06/2011 17:38

MOSP given that she demonstrated her 'shaking the apples' move using one of the male lifeguards at the pool this morning...I think I am perfectly justified! Grin She wasnt going on about 'being Norway' today though, just a visualisation of the cervix open to the size of a dairylea cheese box...normal people might suggest visualizing flowers but not she!

Anyway, back to normality...whats the score with Raspberry Leaf tea?...its rank! Having decided that just looking at the box doesnt do anything I finally opened it and made myself a cup....bleahhhhhh. I dont drink tea anyway but jeez that stuff is gross. Sorry LO you are going to have to fight an unripe cervix...or then theres the pineapple......

moomin156 · 08/06/2011 17:40

mosp they are my type of names, i love Percy and Humphrey......my MIL was the same with Florence, infact she wasnt so polite and went "eugh horrible" LOL

Jer79 · 08/06/2011 17:42

Jasmine Get the capsules, they are far easier to do, a lot less faffy too.

NurseSunshine · 08/06/2011 17:43

Huge Congratulations to MOSP thanks for the birth story as well. So glad you got to stay at home :)

Glad your birth went so well Sasa (when it finally got going anyway Grin ) It's great to read other people's stories, though they're all so different I still don't know what to expect!

Supersunny Glad your MW has given your birth plan the thumbs up. I don't use the knitted breasts for anything I just got them because they're funny Blush I think the money went to a breast cancer charity as well, so my immaturity was alturistic at least!

NoToast Why choose? Get them for everyone! Everybody needs a bosom for a pillow Grin

Well done Moomin and Flo

Almighty Hope the app with the consultant goes well tomorrow

Curioselle I read that as "I spent £40 on boots" and thought well that's not too bad! I've just done exactly the same thing. Went into town for "a couple of things" and ended up spending 3 looong and achey hours and more money than I care to add up!

Moomin Shock that your MW said your baby's name was horrid! How rude!

Jasmine just get the capsules. I'm necking 4 a day now Grin

moomin156 · 08/06/2011 17:47

the money spending doesnt stop when they are born........Flo is a little money pit Grin

moomin156 · 08/06/2011 17:48

nurse it was the MIL not my mw lol

motherofsnortpigs · 08/06/2011 17:55

moomin I forgot to add that I love the name Florence so much that I'd already used it for my cat. I named her 18 years ago and she's still going strong. jasmine ok, mw is mad. But in a nice way.

Joannezipan · 08/06/2011 17:56

I think I might have to go and get some magic raspberry leaf tea pills...my cousin says arnica is good for preventing tearing too. I'm not sure if I believe her though.

moomin156 · 08/06/2011 17:58

mosp my cats are stanley and winifred (age 17)....so that ruled those out for me too

motherofsnortpigs · 08/06/2011 17:58

darn it. I've just finished my drink and I need to take more pain relief. Best call room service. Although there may be some delay as I can hear that snortpig teatime is in full flow.

motherofsnortpigs · 08/06/2011 18:02

Ooh Winifred shortened to Fred. That would be cool. Maybe DD2 is game for a name change...

PrisonerZero · 08/06/2011 18:04

I have an odd question.... (and its not like I can ask anyone else!)

I was googling about sweeps and I came across a site that discribes how you do your own Shock!

Has anyone ever tried it?

jasmine51 · 08/06/2011 18:04

MOSP absolutely lovely, wanted to take her home today. Having a mtg with your 2nd MW tomorrow and DH...feels so naughty to be going outside the NHS he he.

Moomin I love the name Florence too. It was one of the names if bump had turned out to be pink..and it was an instant agreement between me and DH, no arguments...which makes a change.

Jer yes, capsules are the next line of attack...will get some tmz. If you are in next week and this LO decides to be on time I'll see you in there, save me a good bed!

NurseSunshine · 08/06/2011 18:23

Moomin not sure if that's worse or better! Still very rude though!

Prisoner I've heard about it being done (obviously haven't ever tried it myself). I believe it's the sort of thing that one's significant other assists with Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 08/06/2011 18:38

Hi guys, think this the real thing now, being going steadily since 1:30pm. Not ready for MW yet though.

MOSP - the names you have really compliment each other. Don't worry about what other people think, it is what you think that matters!

Moomin - how rude of your MW!

Jasmine - definitely agree tablets much less faff than tea!

Jer - yey for baby coming next week, better get yourself organised!!

BTW I understand about 'shaking the apples' Ina May mentioned it in the guide to child birth book, but what is this about Norway? Confused

NurseSunshine · 08/06/2011 18:56

Go Kara!!! Good luck

BPrincess · 08/06/2011 19:06

Re babies names my old-school Essex MIL said to my partner, 'Oh. Clarice... Did both of you choose that?'

To be fair, she did later apologise, saying, 'I knew it would be something posh and different'!

DON'T DO THE SWEEP YOURSELF!!

Kara Good luck!!

Labella77 · 08/06/2011 19:17

Hello all and a quick one to say welcome babies.
I'm so knackered, final sweep tomorrow at the hospital and they decide if induction is friday or saturday, tbh i just want his baby out, so friday would be good.
I've decided to have a gin and tonic, it's bloody lovely.
Good luck fellow overduers.

DaisyFields · 08/06/2011 19:28

Thank you Moomin for thinking of me, I am here and checking in daily, it's just a nightmare to post on my 'phone but I am taking it all in! Made me a little teary that you were so kind :)

My due date has come and gone with no action - hoping that being prodded and poked by the mw tomorrow will get things moving!

Jasmine I am sloooooowly getting used to the RLT, try it really strong with half a sugar, then hold your nose and down it in one!

Go kara go! And super congrats to MOSP, Sasa and anyone else who is snuggling their new bundles xxx

jasmine51 · 08/06/2011 20:01

Kara I'm sure you have more important things to do than working out what the reference is to Norway but....
she said to imagine your cervix and birth passage are made like the coastline of Norway - full of ins and outs that when stretched out effortlessly expand to make a huge area. Hope that makes sense? It was a better image than trying to imagine your cervix expanding to the size of a dairylea box!

Good luck for tonight, come on little Starbuck!

Joannezipan · 08/06/2011 20:01

I am sooooooo not impressed! Just had to go and get DH after he got knocked off his bike. He is okay, but the bike is totalled and the guy in the car blamed him! I'm so glad he had his helmet on, he said he wouldn't have got up off the pavement if he hadn't :( He seems to be in one bit, but I'm going to keep a close eye on him!

motherofsnortpigs · 08/06/2011 20:03

kara Norway has a very long yet folded coastline, much like the lining of one's vagina. During birth, it will all unfold to make room for the baby. Say to self, 'I am Norway and I can get HUGE'. Grin You go, girl'
