any

Now I have just managed to kick a whole glass of water over the floor whilst running to answer the front door.... grrrrr! Angry with self!

NurseSunshine · 07/06/2011 15:40

:( Knackered Is there someone else you can speak to about being induced earlier?

Crumble I've added you on FB and I will def be putting pics up. Will not turn into annoying person who posts a zillion pics of child every day though (so lying!) Also I don;t think BH have anything to do with how close labour is. Some people never have them, or know they're are having them anyway.

Happy due date to Crazychic

Wow so much to catch up on. And all these babies arriving!! Very exciting.

Huge congratulations to Sasa, MOSP and Thorny!!!!!! Hope you are enjoying those early days with your little ones.

Kara that sounds really scary, so glad you?re ok

Knackered it seems a long time to wait but fingers crossed things will start naturally before then. I was convinced I was going to be induced but things started just as I thought I couldn?t cope with being pregnant anymore

Barbie so sorry that you are still waiting, I would have gone completely insane by now so you are coping really well. Sending MASSIVE contraction vibes your way (ok maybe not massive ones, but fairly strong ones!)

I?ve not posted for a while as had lots of feeding problems (tongue tie, thrush, mastitis). Have been feeling really crappy but seem to be on the mend now. Can feed really well from one side. The other side is still painful but only for the first seconds until let down, then its manageable. Am still completely smitten with our new addition, can?t wait until I can actually leave the house and show her off a bit! (so far only managed trip to supermarket where I collapsed, v embarrassing Blush)

Can't wait to hear more baby news!!!!

NurseSunshine · 07/06/2011 15:53

Neenewps send a PM to milliemuffin and she will sort you out with the FB group. At least you only spilled water not coffee or something :) Hope the GP can help

Massive congratulations to MOSP and Thorny!

Barbie - oh - sorry you are still waiting - can imagine you must be so fed up Sad.

I am feeling really grumpy today. Not helped by the fact that when I picked DD up from school one of the Mum's told me how well I was looking and that I have a lovely chubby face. grrrr.

BPrincess · 07/06/2011 16:00

Quick update, and sorry about 'me only' nature of post, but Clarice Elina arrived last Thursday by semi emergency c-section.

We had an appointment the previous day to discuss smears etc, during which they did a mini scan and told us baby was breach. Long story short, decided on ELCS and it was booked for Friday morning. But NO, baby wasn't going to be bossed about and waters broke and went into labour Thursday morning. No big deal though, we were zoomed up to surgery straight away after a little monitoring and here she is!

All went well and now home with the gorgeous little girl. Heaps of hard work, no sleep, very difficult breast feeding (am expressing and giving formula) but hey, it won't last forever. And heartburn gone, can sleep on my back, and I'm not as exhausted as I was when 9 months pregnant. And of course the bundle of joy is just the BEST thing ever! We are totally over the moon.

Good luck everyone, and eyes on the prize!

Congrats too, to all those who've had theirs recently - did I see Mother Sasa and Thorny mentioned? Hurrah for them all!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 07/06/2011 16:01

Ouch on the feeding problems GV :(
Hope things improved soon, sure you've been told this already but you need to keep feeding on the sore side, just be extra careful with the latch.

Knackered, oh no that is not good, hope baby will come sooner, can DP put off his trip at all? I must admit I shed a few tears this morning when I came back to bed and DH started asking if I had been reading up on how to get labour going again and talking about going back to work - I felt like he was putting pressure on me to have the baby and that I was letting everyone down 'cause I hadn't had it. He did apologise though. It was very different with DS as he was born at Christmas so DH was off anyway. But he does have the luxury of at least being able to work at home. If things don't happen then he may go to the office on Thursday as he has a meeting he could do with going to.

PILs have gone home now and have said they will come back once things kick off again. We kept DS off nursery today but he'll be back tomorrow.

NoToast · 07/06/2011 16:08

Congratulations to MOSP and Thorny, and a big pat Grin on the back to Kara's DP for saving her. Hope you're all feeling ok.

Nurse I am so jealous of your knitted breasts Wink where do they come from, is there a specialist knitted anatomy supplier? Was thinking of you t'other day and that you seem to be coping so well. I was single for 7 years, through my late 20s to mid 30s as I slowly got over a relationship that had turned nasty. Life as a singleton is a bit poo sometimes and one book I found really inspiring when I felt down was 'Singled Out' by Virginia Nicholson. It's about the generation of women left with no prospects of marriage after World War I and how they got by and thrived in a sometimes hostile, society where they had limited opportunities.

Jer79 · 07/06/2011 17:11

Massive CONGRATULATIONS to MOSP, Thorny and BPrincess. Just so exciting now.

crazychic141187 · 07/06/2011 17:16

kara glad to see you made it through your no air episode!!

BP Sounds scary that it happened so fast but hey wish I was in the same boat rather than not knowing!!

Barbie I would be going crazy if I was you right now - actually im going crazy and I haven't got my membership to the overdue club yet!

I'm jealous of you people with babies already. It seems I have had this day fixed in my brain for the past 6 months for it just to come and go without anything happening!! The more days that go past are just going to drag on longer and longer!

Looked after DP's nephew this morning (he is 3) and it was a tad challenging - kept trying to pull me off the sofa onto the floor! Then he asked me where my baby was and I was like "She is still in my belly" so then decided to run his toy motorbike over it! Lovely!

Just had DP's mum call by with his niece and another nephew. The baby isn't here yet and they are already crowding me!!

8rubberduckies · 07/06/2011 17:43

Hi all -another baby! Congratulations Bprincess!

Kara sorry things have slowed down again for yoiu, and that must have been really scary nearly choking. Try not to dwell on the pressure from those around you and stay calm and focussed on the end prize as someone said a few posts ago!

Midwife today has made me feel a bit better. I bawled my eyes out as soon as I sat down, and she was really understanding. I was saying how stupid I felt feeling like this, and she kind of assuaged my feelings when she told me that the previous appointment she had seen had done exactly the same thing and was a 2nd time Mum just as worried as me. She felt baby and she is still head down and is now fully engaged too, front to back, so optimum position. She suggested I call the charity I had some birth trauma counselling from earlier in the pregnancy and see if they can fit me in for a couple of sessions over the next week or so, so I have left them a message today and am waiting for them to get back to me. She is happy to see me every week now until I have the baby, rather than just once more at 41 weeks, and said that we can discuss an ELCS if I really don't feel I can cope.

I'm not keen on an ELCS for non-medical reasons, as I think I will always feel like I've cheated myself of the chance to prove to myself I can face up to my fears.

Very sleepy again today; looking forward to some snoozing tonight Smile, hopefully I'll have a better night.

NurseSunshine · 07/06/2011 17:44

Wow congratulations BPrincess. Sounds like you are coping marvellously. WIshing you a speedy recovery, and hoping the feeding gets easier :)

Hoping your feeding problems clear up as well GV, sounds like you're doing really well at persevering.

NoToast I bought my breasts ( Grin ) at a healthcare convention however you can buy them here or if you're feeling creative you could try knitting your own .
RE being single, I am fine usually, and even enjoy being single but do have the occasional wobble. I'm glad you've got over you've got over that relationship and are happy with your DP now :) I will check out that book.

8RD - glad you've got a good MW. FWIW I feel that if you are really anxious and worried and ended up having a CS for that reason then that is a medical reason. You and your baby need to your mental health to be tip top as well as your physical health.

neenewps · 07/06/2011 18:10

moomin thanks for keeping that list up to date. I was beginning to lose track... as hard as I tried to remember names etc it just wasn't happening for me! I don't think stargirl has told us her chosen name as yet.

GP was really lovely to me. She took BP and checked urine and everything was ok so could rule out pre-e straight away thank goodness. Has put the headache down to a stress headache and has said for me to rest and continue taking paracetemol. If they get worse to contact triage. But I have taken two more paracetemol and it has eased right off now thankfully. She also said it would be nice to have a massage from DH - I did request a prescription for that :o So am now thinking I might treat myself to a pregnancy massage at the local place here. Anyone else had one?

Will send milliemuffin a message.. thanks for that nurse

Where's jasmine ??

jasmine51 · 07/06/2011 18:14

Just getting back online after losing my laptop to a day at the laptop hospital with a virus. All seems ok now although I dont have my email account back yet.

Massive massive congrats to MOSP, Thorny and BPrincess. Jealous? me? I'm not even due yet but feel so Envy

Having been thinking alot about my induction on Sunday and am 99% sure I wont go through with it unless there is very clear medical reasoning behind it. The consultant might be 'nervous' about my case but I'm not and I'm not comfortable with forcing things along so early just to make them feel better. I also wont go ahead with the sweep unless the LO is enagaged, what is the point otherwise? Hey get me, I'm rebelling!

moomin156 · 07/06/2011 18:29

was just looking back trying to update the list.......has anyone seen Leroy, MrsNoggins, Daisy, supersunny recently..and any others who used to post loads

moomin156 · 07/06/2011 18:36

Duh......just seen supersunny was on here yesterday lol

8rubberduckies · 07/06/2011 18:37

Leroy is now posting under a different guise after being outed, but still about and posting lots Smile

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 07/06/2011 19:23

So you know how I had a bit of a melt down last week when I lost DH's Argos card and couldn't buy the Moses Basket? After spending 2 damn days looking every where for it, DH looked in the utensils tin about half an hour ago. Guess what was in there amoungst the ladel, slotted spoon, fish slices etc. Blush No idea how it got in there!

And I see more good news. Congratulations BPrincess!!! Grin.

Love the idea of a prescription for massages from DH Neenewps. Wonder where I can get me one of those...

moomin156 · 07/06/2011 19:37

ooooh 8 i remember now.......i blame baby brain and lack of sleep

magpieC · 07/06/2011 20:12

Congratulations to everyone with a new arrival :-)

Jasmine I was advised to have early induction which I wasn't at all keen on and I didn't feel there was enough evidence to support it. When I resisted they did give me option of extra monitoring (so I'm now in every other day for CTG). My community midwife has also been very supportive and said to make sure that we asked what our options were and felt comfortable with what was being suggested which was great.

She also had a "rummage" on Monday which showed my cervix has started doing things of it's own accord (have had period like cramps of increasing frequency/intensity over the past week or so) so she did a stretch/sweep (which wasn't at all painful much to my surprise). As yet I've not had anything more than just more cramping but I'm hoping that it's taking things in the right direction!

Hope that it works out for you...

jasmine51 · 07/06/2011 20:24

Thanks Magpie - do you know if your LO is engaged? Mine is still 4/5 which basically means nowhere near, so what would a sweep achieve if he isnt heading down there?
The complication I have is that the MW wont do anything without written permission from the consultant, including the sweep...and have you tried to get an email from a consultant?! Thats another reason I'm not going ahead...we are basically at stalemate.
DH just suggests that copious amount of sex will help...ever helpful!

magpieC · 07/06/2011 20:36

He was 2/5 so further down than yours. Part of my reasoning was to find out whether anything was actually going on - if it was then I figured it was more worth hanging on without the induction...

Would you be able to persuade the midwife to at least check it out without written permission? Is there another midwife who might be more amenable?

I suggested sex to DP but he wasn't overly keen. To be honest nor was I so I wasn't that disappointed ;-) I can't remember whether I'm on pineapple 3 or 4 though (orally I hasten to add) - and am taking rlt capsules in an attempt to get things going
