I know, the tummy is worst, as it is also presumably causing her poor appetite/extreme fussiness at the minute. You can just bet if I get a doctor on the phone, she won't have hardly any tomorrow, or I won't manage to get a sample in with the scan and consultant appointment etc etc. The cold can't be anything really, but she could possibly have some bacterial tummy bug they could treat...

Will just hope the scan is fine, I'm sure you're right bb3. Is your dh in construction then?!

BB3 · 30/11/2011 22:19

Not really but kind of - he runs his own business installing electro-magnetic testing chambers so essentially builds entire steel rooms from scratch to fully decorated but can't fill the old screw holes in our dining room wall or hang the shelves in the nursery for months on end Wink

BB3 · 30/11/2011 22:22

Oh and I'm with you on the disappearing illnesses - ds had stinking great rash all over his body (like acne) earlier in the week - take him to drs and by the time we are seen it virtually disappears then came back again with vengeance that evening.

dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 22:37

bb3, my dh boasts frequently about not having seen a gp in over a decade (though he has self prescribed on several occasions- like when I got a wierd bacterial D&V bug trekking in nepal, he had some minor but similar symptoms, so when I'd been to the GP as it wasn't improving and had my stool results, he got his own antibiotics and fixed himself too, so it doesn't really 'count' I don't think!). And we had no thermometer in our house til this episode where DD had a temp of 40 degrees, and over 38 for 3 days constantly (I bought one asap from amazon!) and frequently have been away and realised we haven't even brought paracetamol when one of s has wanted some. Same kind of thing!

I think children imrpoving like magic in the doctor's waiting room is a factual, everyday occurence. I've only taken DD a few times, but twice she has perked up in the waiting room to the extent I've felt I had to apologise and confirm she was much iller at home which was why I'd brought her Blush (of course, much worse again at home). Thank goodness at one of her 'miracle recoveries' for the doctor even after her calpol she had a temp of 39 and red ear when she was examined.... Wink

Right, I need to get off mn and go to bed and stop the scan worry for now!

Ceasnake · 01/12/2011 08:10

Dreamfeeder, as you've sent positive comments my way, I'm sending some back to you, I'm sure the scan will be fine :)

Quempin - from my experience the next few weeks are very hard but when you get to 35 ish weeks it suddenly gets a bit easier almost like your body is giving you a break before the twins arrive! Try and rest up as much as possible and do push for a discussion about delivery even if not dates x

dream hope your looking at your little beans - can't wait to find our what flavours you are having xxx

I've just been shopping. Dh Christmas is sorted from my family, ds pretty much done, girls almost there - couple more friends to do and that's it! Phew x

bigboobsatlast · 01/12/2011 19:23

Hi everyone, I know I dont post often but always reading your posts! Welcome Ceasnake. We are similar weeks - I am 15. Dream - how did your scan go?

Is any one else here having identicals? I have been told I am and have appointments EVERY WEEK - is this usual for this type of twin pregnancies (scan with consultant every fortnight and midwife appt on the weeks in between)?

I still feel so excited about having TWO babies! My DD will be 2 in Feb so will have a toddler as well - not sure how that will work out but like you said dream I think (hope) the reality will be easier than we think it might be.

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 20:12

Hi,
The scan was fine, I'm having 2 boys, as I knew I was!!! I had a half second's disappointment the second wasn't another girl, probably just as I love DD so much, as can't imagine anything being better than a little girl (yet!), plus got no boys clothes and loads of lovely girls ones, but I'm excited already, and thinking of how good it will be in so many ways- people will fawn over twins, but DD will be my only little girl, so special in her own way, etc etc. It was just such a relief to see two healthy babies, that's all that really mattered Grin. Slightly let-down feeling that I've found out the sex, but DH delighted (he really wanted at least one to be a boy and didn't trust my gut instinct it was 2 of them!), and will make planning easier, but I loved not knowing with DD! Got my next 3 scans booked already, so looking forward to them.

Got to go, as dinner ready, but quempin is having identical twins bigboobs

You poor thing feeling so awful quempin, have you finished work at least? They should give you a date- delivery was discussed again for me, the doctor thinks a section, she said even though twin 2 is breech (but of course may still turn, but has been this way since 16 weeks already), I could try for a VB if I was desperate to have one, but she discussed with a colleague and the general feeling is a section is a good idea. As I'm 38 weeks on the Thursday before Good Friday, I asked how this would affect dates, and she said it could be booked for the Wed before, which is 4th April, and no decisions yet VB vs CS, or dates but at least I have a vague idea, and know in my hospital section days are every other Tues, Wed, and Fri. Helps me plan. And I'm 20 weeks, so seems daft they won't discuss with you properly. katy has hers booked for 36+3, on 21st December, so hopes to have her girls home to be with her other 3 children in time for Christmas!

Now, I will try and pop back later and update stats thread, but DH wants laptop may not be able too.

quempin, hope as bb3 says, it gets slightly easier ina few weeks, and you start to feel a bit better, good luck for your next appointment.

hello claire, hope you're doing ok with the enforced resting!

xxx

BB3 · 01/12/2011 21:20

Yay for two boys dream, do you have any names picked out? Bless dh - I know what you mean about slight disappointment but you'll never imagine them as anything other!! you're the opposite of me - ds then two girls and ds will always be that bit special as the only boy and girls special as twins - so nice!!

Big Boobs - identicals are normally scanned every two weeks which is lovely as you get to see them lots and lots x

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 21:49

I really like Toby and Sebastian, but open to suggestions! We've got a common surname so need something slightly less popular- I love Oliver but i meet so many. Yes, my family will be the mirror image of yours! Still can't quite understand what your dh does bb3, sounds very highly specialized and technical.

Hello bigboobs, I wondered where you'd got to! I'm still incredibly excited about having two babies. People have told me when you have a little tribe, really similar in age, playing well together nothing beats it!! That's what I'm looking forward to most I think

On my phone so can't update the stats thread, sorry!

BB3 · 02/12/2011 02:49

Oooh dream I've never been allowed to contemplate English names for boys but if I was I'd love something like rafferty (raffe), Eli, Archie, Alfie, Elijah, maddoc, so many lovely names x

Yay for 4lbers and good scans quempin - I was desperate to know what flavour I was having at that point but it's worth the wait even if it's completely not what you thought Confused! Although having said that dream gets to coo over all the lovely twin boy clothes whereas as I got frustrated looking and falling in love with certain outfits and not being able to get then as I didn't know!!!

Are yours non id? Think they are and if so they will push you to 38 weeks but chances are things will kick off on their own by that point. And having been there all I can say is getting to 37 weeks and having 'big' babies by twin standard meant we were in and out within a day and a half (even with emergency cs) and the babies were discharged before me Hmm I do remember sat at my 34 week appointment and them telling me 38 weeks and actually wanting to cry at the thought if 4 more weeks of cooking the little beans (I wanted them out at 36 weeks) but as cliche (and unwanted) as it sounds every extra day is better for the babies (not for mum) and that extra week for my two made the difference between scbu and no scbu for Edith-May.

Hang in there, you're doing great and have already done so well to get them to this point x

Ceasnake · 02/12/2011 12:16

Hello everyone, glad all the scans went well and congrats dreamfeeder on two wonderful little boys!

Boobs (childishly giggled while typing that), I think I?m currently at 9 weeks but given that the two I?ve got seem to be at different ages, it?s all a bit up in the air! I?ve booked a private scan for a couple of weeks as my NHS nuchal fold scan isn?t until after Christmas and I need to know what?s going on in there.

Heading back to the family home for Christmas and need to know whether it?s one, two or none so I can spread the (hopefully) good news.

dreamfeeder · 02/12/2011 12:24

bb3, when did you go into labour with your DS? I have this feeling that I won't go into labour before a planned section or induction, as I never did with DD- my waters broke and I was one of the rare ones who still never go into labour after that at 40+2. Induction, yuck. Don't want that again... I really hope I have them at 37 weeks. Like Rafferty by the way, will suggest it to DH. I love the name Sebastian, but I prefer 'full' names you'll never get asked 'Is that short for anything?' so would prefer Tobias to Toby, but DH won't even consider that... Also means I rule out Alfie, as I don't like Alfred, and Archie, as don't like Archibald.

Sure quempin's are ID, but need to find that blooming stats bit on the thread! I do already regret finding out a bit, I loved not knowing for DD. DH is definitely pleased we know though, so that's something, and I'll come round to the idea- no choice now!

Wow, quempin, they sound like they're doing really well and so are you! Do you think you'll go for CS then? Yours are both head down aren't they? Your care sounds good though, and you might not go to 38 weeks anyway, like bb3 said. My only friend with twins had induction booked for 38 weeks and went into labour at 37. You'll be ok though, and then just think what a breeze looking after the babies will be compared to being pregnant!!

One of mine is breech, and though assisted breech delivery was discussed, I met a mum today who had one, (she wanted a CS but went into labour and it all happened too fast to get her into theatre) so her first twin came out fine, and her second they spent what sounded like an excruciating 45 minutes trying to turn the baby first (she didn't actually go into too much graphic horrible detail, but her expression said it all....) then delivered assisted breech. Ouch!!! Twin 2 may turn for me, but hasn't since 16 weeks, and the doctor thought there is a good chance he won't turn. Still feels wierd saying 'he', i am really trying not to feel any slight disappointment at no more daughters...

caesnake, x posts, glad you've got a private scan, but none of that negativity (says the super-paranoid one Xmas Wink), there will hopefully be two wriggling babies in there! A bare, bare minumum of one, but my gut feeling says 2 (and I was right about my boys!)

dreamfeeder · 02/12/2011 12:35

can't remember where ipswitch should have gone, if you feel like putting your boys on, I didn't leave you out on purpose xx

Ceasnake · 02/12/2011 13:39

Thanks dreamfeeder, I'm going to say there will be two, two, two in there, too. That's two, not six. Please God, don't let there be six. :)

Hopefully I will also then get an EDD as well. No idea at the moment!

BB3 · 02/12/2011 15:30

dream ds was born at 41+1 by induction after my waters broke at 40+5 so similar to dd x

Sorry for very quick post just off to work Xmas do xXx cea - no negativity allowed Wink x

dreamfeeder · 02/12/2011 17:47

Oh yes, very similar bb3, that's very reassuring. Dd emerged at 40+4 or 5, after I tried all the mw's tips of brisk walk, running up and down stairs etc etc and finally accepted induction when nothing whatsoever happened...

Also got my work Xmas do, so not ready, do am off!
