Yay Claire that's great news - make sure you do take it easy, trust me when those little ones arrive you'll never get any rest so follow drs order and enjoy the next few weeks of rest.

twin you sound like you're doing remarkably well! How is dd with the girls? Does she love being a big sister? How are things with ex dh? Hope he's still being helpful and supportive.

We have a house full of lurgy here. Kids all have colds and just at drs with ds who has a viral infection and what looks like acne all over his body with the rash Confused - he's fine just needed to make sure it's nothing more serious!

Girls are doing great but boy are they tiring ! twin do you think it's the formula helping them sleep longer at night as I can't crack that and still awake every 2 ish hours from midnight (both sleep 8-12 no problem).

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 28/11/2011 18:01

hi claire great news Smile
sounds like you'll be well taken care of at home, where will your mum sleep? do you have a spare room.?

do they do internal scans on all twin mums ? or just if they think theres a problem?

sounds like they caught you in just the nick of time.
that was so lucky

BB3 · 28/11/2011 19:50

I didn't have any internals apart from to check how much the placenta was covering the OS after 32 and 34 week scan when they ruled out natural delivery.

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 28/11/2011 21:54

bb how do you mean the placenta was covering the os, whats the os?

dreamfeeder · 28/11/2011 21:55

Hi all, we're away for a few days so not been on, but found some phone signal so couldn't resist!

Well done twin, sounds like your girls are thriving!! I second the hope that ex dh continues to be helpful and that dd is still enjoying being a big sister.

Claire, that sounds like a bolt from the blue, you seem to be coping really well. I hope you do get to go home and rest in the comfort of your own home with your girls, dh and mum around. What a coincidence your two have the same names as twins new arrivals!! Will you be checked more now then? I will cross my fingers for you your babies stay put til an appropriate arrival date a bit later on.

As far as I know internal cervical length scanning is not routine care for twin pg in the UK (though I think it should be looking at early delivery stats and hearing stories like claires where prem delivery has been averted so far by good care in the Italian system) . You do have it if you've had a prem delivery- even in my dodgy nhs trust my friend who delivered at 31 weeks with her first baby had cervical scans in her second pregnancy.

bb3, sounds like very hard work in your house... Hope the girls start sleeping better soon and everyone gets well ASAP! I don't know if formula will help if they can do 4 hours on breast milk- though mw last time told me natures little trick is a really ramped up milk supply from 2am ish on and night feeding frenzies common at all growth spurts... I wonder...she said to get your supply up that's the feed not to drop though (worst one imo tho!)

My poor dd is still ill- coughing and still suffering with diarrhoea. Bit traumatic being away with it too- was scrubbing down a stark naked baby in rather chilly ladies loos where we'd had lunch and seriously contemplating binning the clothes. If it hadn't been an outfit dh chose and bought for her (unheard of!) I would have chucked them... Over a week on, still no nappy can contain these explosions..

Glad to hear you managed a small amount of food at least Carrie, don't worry too much about the medication, I tried not to as there is no choice really... And sure you won't need it throughout (positive thinking!)

3 people asked when I was due today- 2 seemed aghast at how big i was and how long I had to go, one thought it looked normal, lol, mixed reactions. Nervous for my 20 week scan on Thursday....

Hope everyone else is ok xxx

dreamfeeder · 28/11/2011 22:10

Carrie, bb3 had placenta previa, so placenta covering the neck of the womb, or cervical OS, so no way out for babies except CS! Hope that's right bb3!

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 28/11/2011 22:32

oh i see, ive heard of that.
but what does the os stand for? obstruction?

dreamfeeder · 28/11/2011 22:52

I think its just the word, os or oss, my phone just auto corrected to OS, which I presume is short for ordnance survey, or just another HTC tic!!!

BB3 · 29/11/2011 01:11

It's the ostium of the uterus (love Wikipedia) or as my consultant put it the passageway that links uterus to the vagina (internal at top external at bottom) that the baby squeezes through. My placenta was initially blocking it at the top by about 4 cm and then at 34 weeks had covered it completely and kind of lodged itself in! Lovely!

dream poor dd, is it the same thing she has had all along? Bless we she's having a really tough time of it! Must be tough for you as you get bigger to cope with that too.

Will come and catch up again properly later but girls have miraculously gone back to sleep so I am too x night xxx

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 29/11/2011 15:21

oh thanks, i like knowing what the abbrivations mean.

dream hows your dd today?

i'm a bit upset today as mil has just told me they are going to italy start of july, the twins are due 28th june.
just worried about how we will cope with dd who will be 5, if i'm in the hospital with the twins

dreamfeeder · 29/11/2011 17:24

Dd has only had one episode of diarrhea today, but this is all carrying on from when she was really unwell 6.5 weeks ago with the Roseola Infantum, then cough and cold, then diarrhoea and vomiting and she can't shake the cough and diarrhoea it seems poor little tike. Makes her very hard work too...

claireinmodena · 29/11/2011 17:34

Hello again, I'm back home finally, sat on the sofa while my mum is making dinner. The girls were very happy to see me but already they're busy on the pc writing xmas list!! Kids hey! Its really nice to home, but terribly frustratingvas constantly fighting the urge to get up and do something or fetch stg else. But Im doing my best.

Carrie thats not very good timing on your mil's behalf did she apologise at all?

Dream I hope your dd gets better too, it must be very tiring for you too.

I'll get back to my resting!!!

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 29/11/2011 17:41

claire where is your mum sleeping? do you have a spare room.are you managing to rest at home

mil didnt apolagise at all.
only reason the convo came up is because she was talking about buying two new suitcases.

dream your poor dd, they are such hard work when uner the weather. hope she shakes it off soon.

dreamfeeder · 29/11/2011 18:31

carrie, don't worry yet. twin is managing well so far from the sound of what she's posted, on her own with a 5 year old and twins. Your dd will be at school at first won't she, intil summer hole?

dreamfeeder · 29/11/2011 18:38

Sorry, posted too soon, and that was until summer hols. And bb3 has a 2 year old. My dd will be nearly 19 months when mine are born if I go to 38 weeks. I worry as she'll be too little to understand me saying I can't read to her, play with her etc while feeding babies, and her sleep is awful at the min- illness not helping of course. Worried about how often I'll have all 3 crying and desperate for my attention. My mum still works, and I'm not having MIL around a lot, I couldn't cope with that!!! I think the anticipation of it will be worse than the reality in some respects.

Claire, so glad you're home, I am rushing around pre-bedtime and can imagine how hard managing to rest is. Still, lovely to be at home, glad your mum's helping.

Ceasnake · 29/11/2011 22:19

Howdy, cautiously waving hello after dreamfeeder posted on my thread in Pregnancy.

I am currently expecting twins which are rather oddly two weeks apart in age (that the sonographer could make out). It's such early days though that I feel like I almost shouldn't be here (embryos were 8 and 6 weeks at the scan, both with heartbeats though).

Won't know more for another month when they'll attempt to do a nuchal fold/dating scan, slightly tricky when the babies are such different ages. That's if there are still two babies there... I guess that's a possibility I have to face.

Hello to you all, anyway :)

dreamfeeder · 29/11/2011 22:42

Hello ceasnake! I think Carrie is 8 or 9 weeks, bigboobs about 14, I'm nearly 20. Everyone else is a bit further on. I know what you mean though, I can hardly dare believe I'm having twins though i only found out at 12 weeks, and i still worried there'd only be one next time i was scanned. Both identical measurements so less confusion there though. From what I've read here, its a bit of an emotional rollercoaster (twin pregnancy i mean) though I'm over the moon once the shock wore off. This is a great place for support/ reassurance. Hope your pregnancy goes smoothly.

Ceasnake · 30/11/2011 09:09

Thanks dreamfeeder. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that at the very least, there's still ONE in there when I get rescanned. Two would be an absolute bonus!

twinnerves · 30/11/2011 13:38

hiya well yes it is abit tricky feeding with bottles but iusuall manage to wedge a blanket under one bottle - never leaving them alone i sit with them, and it is a faff with the washing but it needs to be done, breast feeding two is my fave i have the big twin feeding cushion which helps but i know its going to get harder as they get bigger and heavier as lifting them about takes some doing and i wont be able to do it if i go anywhere however i dont plan on going far for a while and when i do i know i can easily switch to formula feed or express breast milk. the thing is i listen to all the advice people give me then do what works for me and the girls if sometimes im too tired todo one i do the otherand they are quite happy switching between the two. Breastfeeding is slower at the minute as im sure they like to take longer for the comfort it gives them-which i liketoo and formula is much quicker and i know what they are getting which i was worried about when they started to loose weight xx

dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 16:29

caesnake is the statistic not an 85-90% chance of a healthy pregnancy if you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks? I don't know for 6 but on another thread I look at a couple of posters had 6 week scans for pain/ bleeding, often only seeing a sac and no heartbeat but they're all fine after 12 week scans so I'm going to be wildly positive optimistic and say both your babies will be fine!!!

twin, sounds like you're doing just fine. Dd never had a bottle, but think will have to try, at least with expressed breast milk for the flexibility as you say. Who's doing the school run for your dd or are you managing that?

Hope you're having a reasonable day sickness wise carrie n managed to eat something again. Ditto for you Claire, resist all jobs and keep resting!

Anyone seen Katy around? She had another scan today I think... Or raven, quempin or tabby? I've got my 20 week scan tomorrow, I'm really, really nervous.

Hope your boy is still thriving ipswitch, you're still in my thoughts x

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 30/11/2011 16:46

hi ceasnake, dream feeder is doing a good job rounding us all up.

i'm not doing too bad managed to not take any medication yesterday or today.
i seem ok if im able to take it extremely easy, if i do normal everyday stuff like collect dd from school and make tea i start vomiting.
makes me feel like a right lazy arse.

i think im 10 weeks at the weekend, so really hoping the sickness will ease up in a few weeks.
itcan make you feel really depressed.

claire hows the resting going?

dream feeder how many weeks pg are you again?

dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 18:09

Lol, as I'm currently twin obsessed interested in twins I've been checking any thread with twins in it, and pointing people this way!!

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow. Can't stop worrying about the scan!

Poor dd just had yet.more runs, so need to go and sort her out, again... Had a total disaster in a cafe earlier- she had the runs, dh changed her, all fine. 10 min later, more runs. I took her, she was covered and furious at being changed again so soon, I had her by the legs and was trying to deal with the nappy horror and not be sick, she was trying to escape, managed to get onto her front, so in the wheelbarrow position, still covered, I'm desperately wiping ttrying to save the clothes, then her arms gave up so she's nose down and howling and writhing...it got worse...

BB3 · 30/11/2011 19:29

dream is there nothing the dr can do for dd she really does sound like she's having a rough time of it bless her.

Lol at rounding twin mummies up!

Fingers crossed all went well for Katy today. What time is your scan tomorrow dream?

dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 20:33

katy has posted on her other thread, all good and her section is booked for 21st Dec!!!!!!!!!

I asked dh today if now we're back from a few days away in Scotland I should ring the GP and try and get a poo sample in and tested for DD in case it's something we can treat rather than the virus we assume it is. He just brushed the question off!!! I will try and pin him down first thing tomorrow. I think the cough will just be a virus, though as it has gone on for ages and ages and is so linked to nights and early morning even dh occasionally mumbles things about cough in the under 3's being asthma. Doubt it, as it all started as a cold, and she's still super snotty too. If you want sympathy/help with 'minor' illness -even if it has been going on for weeks, don't marry a GP!!!! They don't listen to their own family!!! But yes, the poor little tike is having a very tough couple of months- 7 weeks on Friday since she got ill and hasn't been better since worse, 7 weeks of disturbed nights and awful going-to-bed battles for me, not to mention the poo!!!!

My scan tomorrow is 1:30 for twin 1, 1:55 for twin 2, and consultant appointment afterwards so reckon we'll be in the hospital for ages. My dad is coming up to babysit DD- she'll love it, she's besotted with Grandpa. I think twin 1 is being very quiet movement-wise today, and am torturing myself with fears of a problem with one, or both, or only one having a heartbeat and horrible scenarios which I am trying to convince myself are unlikely... Right?!?

carrie, not long now til it eases up Even with my dad up helping and not moving from the sofa I couldn't even keep fluids down without medication til after 12 weeks, so definitely not long left for you now Wink. I know what you mean about feeling 'lazy' when you don't actually have an option. My poor DD would keep coming up and wanting me to play, and I was struggling so much, I felt really bad as of course, at 12 months then, she didn't understand why mummy is was so hopeless.

BB3 · 30/11/2011 21:04

dream I think every expectant twin mother imagines disappearing babies or major problems and 9 times out of 10 it's a perfectly fine as I'm sure yours will be!!

Yay for Katy x

Grin at marrying gp! Same goes for marrying anyone in construction as stuff round your own house never gets done!!!

Oh I'd definitely go to your dr! This cold thing seems to be hanging around for everyone but its the upset tummy I'd be worried about more poor mite!
