Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 23/11/2011 21:09

hi guys thanks for the posts you have really helped calmed my nerves a little.
its great to talk to others in the same boat.

did suffer with hyperemesis during my pg with dd

but been to the drs today after 3 days of keeping nothing down, and i have high levels of ketones.
and she said if we can't get this under control she's going to admit me to hospital. so trying to avoid that
i have been prescribed cycklizine and rehydration sachets, and was relectant to take the cyclizine, but felt i had no choice as i can't even keep fluids down.

i'm seeing the dr tomorrow am for her to decide what to do with me, not sure if i should try to avoid being admitted or if getting admitted and given iv fluids would really helpme.
either way can't carry on like this.

dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 21:44

Try the cyclizine first carrie- That didn't help me at all in my first pg, but I found buccastem and the rehydration sachets did this time round, so if it doesn't work it's worth trying something else too or instead of it. I hope it settles down for you- I was the same at your stage when I went to the GP, and if it's any help, I'm much better now and wasn't expecting to be... Someone on another thread I went on had hyperemesis and was in and out of hospital for IV fluids from 10-30 weeks in her last pg but was much better this time and more controlled with cyclizine and buccastem/prochlorperazine- she was on both. I think if you're still dehydrated tomorrow there won't be much avoiding it... I will cross my fingers for you. xx

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 24/11/2011 21:16

hi just to update you went to the dr this am, the ketones had gone down from plus 4 to plus 2.
so she said if i want to i can carry on the treatment and fluids at home or go into hospital for iv fluids.
i decided to stay home because i was worried how long they will try and keep me there if i do go into hospital.and feel bad for dd.
i have managed to eat a sandwhich and a bit of chicken and pototoe and sweetcorn tonight and keep it down.
my whole body aches beyond belief but i think thats down to the muscles being dehydrated.

twinnerves · 24/11/2011 21:31

hello ladies sorry to have been so quiet and i havent caught up with the postbut my girls arrived by emergency c section on friday 18th november at 21:09 both abso gorgeous and fine weighing 6lbs 6 oz and 6lbs 9.5oz we stayed in hospital 3nights and are now home adjusting to life, they are combination feeding as have lost alot of weight and are being weighed again tomorrow to see if they have gained any back, sorry for the quick post but have breast pump in one hand and finding it difficult to concentrate hope all you ladies are doing good i will pop back soon xxheehee i have my girls xx

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 24/11/2011 22:07

how wonderful congratulations twin
thats a great weight too.

dreamfeeder · 24/11/2011 22:07

Oh massive congratulations twin, what fabulous news!!! We've all been on tenterhooks waiting to hear if they'd arrived, so glad they're here safe and well. Look after the four of you! Hope your eldest DD is delighted with them too. xxxxx

Great you're slightly better carrie, I really hope the cyclizine keeps helping and you can get some more fluids down. Did you have to be admitted for fluids in your last pregnancy?

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 24/11/2011 22:25

thanks dreamfeeder, no i wasn't admitted last time, but last time i was able to keep some liquid down even if not much food.

BB3 · 25/11/2011 04:51

Yaaay twin huge congratulations, fingers crossed for weight gain (both mine lost a fair bit at first).

How are you? Do you have some help while you recover from the cs? How you finding it generally? Huge hugs and congratulations again x well done

pop back on when you have time to come up for air xx

dreamfeeder · 25/11/2011 13:05

Hello everyone!

Just popped on to see if twin had been back (optimistic I know). When you do, please give us the low-down on the cs etc, and how you're all getting on. We'd love to hear!

carrie, hope you've drunk pints and pints today Wink, those blooming babies giving you so much grief. It probably won't help at all, but when I found out it was twins and I couldn't keep fluids down without the medication, still, at 12 week scan I panicked thinking I'd be sick throughout etc etc, yet it did start calming down at 16 weeks, and at 19 weeks now i'm much, much better, only really sick every few days and in car, even if I have to be very careful not to eat foods that will trigger my nausea and vomiting. So I hope you won't necessarily be as bad as your last pg hopeful I know I think the not knowing when/if it will stop is the worst- at least if you could say I have 3 weeks left til I feel better, it would be more bearable!!!!!

Hope you are all well,
xx

claireinmodena · 26/11/2011 17:32

Hello all,

And congratulations to twins

Quick post to say I have been admitted to hodpital due to short cervix, not even 1 cm. to think that it was 4 just a month ago. Have been put on a drip to avoid contractions (havent felt any so far). And given steroids for babies lungs. No idea how long will be in, but ig may be until the birth. I was so not expecting this to happen, I am still stunned, and have not been told much either about possible implications.... Just hoping that they'll stay put for a few more weeks. They have good weights ( just under 1 kg each) though and the Fhm was fine. Will update more can I can.

Love to all

twinnerves · 26/11/2011 19:34

Hiya think i have five mins before they are up again the c section well whatcan i say bloody marvellous i was abso crapping myself hate anything like that but everyone was really reassuring the man doctor that did the spinal was really nice even though it took several attempts as i was shaking so much- probably helped he was dishy!, the numbness was wierd to say the least and part of my stomache is still numb-im guessing because they cut through the nerves, it was scary movingatbout after but i think im just a big baby as i feel reallywell now- however have finished the pain relief so tomorrow maybe different i had a really positive time even though i wasnt expecting to have them quite so soon, so please ladies dont worry about it or maybe that should be do worry about it as its nowhere near as bad as you think- just inconveniant i cant drive-but a really great excuse to have extra help around the house even the ex dh has been round everyday and cleaned the house top to bottom and inside out, and dd1 is loving it almost as much as me xx i will be back for a proper post soon-hopefully before they turn one xxx

twinnerves · 26/11/2011 19:35

Hi claire rest well, keep us posted x

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 26/11/2011 20:03

oh claire i hope your ok, how many weeks pg are you?
do you really think they will keep you in all that length of time?

claireinmodena · 27/11/2011 03:52

Thanjs carrie and twins, I'm 27+2... They havent done any predictions, but it may well come to that. I think they have even booked to spacws in the NICU just in case. I have had no contractions or ant signs of this. Not excessively worried as feel in good hands. But I will probably need LOADS of pTience.

Dh has been great and packed my hospital bag better than I could have done! He even thought about the creams I had on bedside table andsome chocs!

My mum has arrived to help him look after the girls, but I will muss them so much!

The wirst bit is this reminds me a but too much of time soent in the same hospital when I had my cancer, different ward though. Hoping to aee the drs tomorrow and be able to ask some questions, as I have so many!

BB3 · 27/11/2011 08:43

Claire rest up and let us know what the dr says. Your dh is great I dread to think what I'd get if dh was left in charge Wink. How did they discover it?

twin I loved my cs too! Glad ex dh is being good. Make sure you take advantage and rest up. How were the girls weights? Hope you're all doing ok x

BB3 · 27/11/2011 08:44

carrie are you feeling any better?

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 27/11/2011 10:31

Hi struggling a bit still tbh but feeling better than I was. Having to take the medication which I don't feel great about . Supposed to be going for a meal today for my great garndparents anniversary think I'm going to give it a try . I know they won't mind if I leave early . They worried about me anyway and they know I'm not in the best of Health as I throw up in there house last Sunday. Getting my head around the idea of twins now and have been cheering myself by watching clips of twins on YouTube.
Just worried about the health complicatons of twins and the financial strain. I know it will be hard work. And it will be a squah and a squueze in our house but they will be well loved.

Just got to get through this ordeal of pregnancy.

Claire how did they know your cervix was so short from a scan or an internal examination?

claireinmodena · 27/11/2011 14:10

Hello

Not much news, still

twinnerves · 27/11/2011 15:02

Hi the girls have been weighed today isobella has gained 105g and francesca has gained 145g so im very happy with that, although not suprised with the feeding frenzy going on the last couple of days, and really happy as i have lost two stone aswell so thats making me feel better we even had our first walk out today only down the lane but it was a start, just waiting for them to wake up now for another mammouth feed xx

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 27/11/2011 22:40

clare how are you coping in the hospital with the sleeping and the hospital food?

how long have you been in for now?

tin, how are you feeding the twins? its working!
goodluck hope it all carries on going well

twinnerves · 28/11/2011 11:50

Carriehow are you feeling today. I agree its a concern money and space wise having twins but you will be absolutley fine, you have all they need" love and boobs" so dont worry about everything else,i worried alot about having twins especially on my own and already having a dd age 5 but it really is the best thing in the world, im sure i will come down to earth with a bump soon but i feel like im on cloud nine all i can say is dont plan anything, let your routine come into effect before you promise to visit anyone or go anywhere, that way if you dont pressure your self you wont let yourself down. There are all sorts of different health issues too but there is with any baby and if its something you cant control please dont worry yourself over it- although im waiting for the results of the guthrie test scared that theremight be something.
Im breastfeeding during the day for 20 mins each feed(at the same time) topping up with formula usually only an oz, then they have three formula feeds during the night-which saved my sanityas they sleep 4 hours between these which means i can too. Just had my second walk to the shop which took way longer then expected people were like predators coming towards me and the girls like i was lunch-may be awhile before i venture out again!

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 28/11/2011 12:59

twin, just managed to have a bit of lunch just some cream crackers with a bit of cheese and some grapes, had a coupke of glasses of lemon squash too.

was really going to try and not take the sickness medication today, but i knew i was going ot throw up without it.
feel a biy guilty takiing it, but feel like theres no real choice.

it really interesting to hear how your breast feeding, as alot of people have told me i wont be able to this time, i did bf dd for 9 months
do you find it alot of extra work giving a formula top up, as you still need to steralise the bottles and wash them up and make up the formula.
also when your actually feedingthem does it feel easier to bfor ff?
as i can sort of see having two babies suckling at the same time, just about being able to hold them up, where as if i had to try an bottle feed them, how would i be able to hold them both and two bottles at the same time.

claireinmodena · 28/11/2011 13:32

Hello ladies, I have good news, I may be going home tomorrow. Situation is stable, all I need to do is rest and take medicatio to prevent contractions. And hope this works!! Its going to be tough, because i lnow what Im llike, they'll have to blindfold me so i dont see anything that I feel I need to do!!
Just kidding, I'll be a good girl, dont want to take any risks. Lucky my mum is staying and she'll good care of me and my dds.
I have only been in hospital since saturday, even though it feels much longer. For the moment is not too bad, between visits, books (blessed) iphone, plus the monitoring and drips, time is passing quite well, food is not too bad either. Sleep not too good, even though we're in a twobed rom, there's just so much noise in a hospital, and i miss my bed!!!
Carrie they found at a routine growth scan at 27 weeks, sat morning, through internal scan which is for this specific purpose in twin pregnancies. As soon as the dr saw it he immediately said i should ho to hospital! We had been warned this could happen, but 4 weeks ago it was a very good 4 cm, so did not expect it to happen so suddenly. He said I coild have gone into labour in 3-4 days!

Anyway I feel well looked after, and am happy to go home. It will nice being with the dds as I miss them do much.

Twin it is lovely yo hear about your experience, my dds have the same names as your twin girls, what a coincidence.

Thank you all gor asking about me, hope you are all well.
