Thanks all and yes dreamfeeder twas I munching on the dried guinea pig and merrily fagging away at 5km in the sky blissfully unaware!

God if these two get out OK I may just have to call them Miracle A and B!

DiffedAgainDachs · 11/11/2011 06:58

Hello ladies. Just dropping in to update anyone that remembers me on my current situation.

After losing the twins in may I was going to accept that maybe I would never actually have a baby. However, I changed my mind, had more ivf and am now 15+4 sadly with a singleton but am thrilled to be pg again. I have a cervical stitch to try to prevent what happened with the twins from happening again.

As you can imagine I am finding it quite hard to relax, but my doc is being lovely and I have his mobile number so if I have any panic I can call him and pop in to see him.

I hope you all have trouble free pregnancies xxxxxxxx

BB3 · 11/11/2011 07:02

dachs so nice to gear your updates and I'm very glad you changed your mind about giving ivf another go and your dr is being so good. Keeping everything crossed for you and look forward to more updates on how this lo develops xxx

BB3 · 11/11/2011 07:03

also hope katy ok, still xdh to be at birth.
Had a scan today twin 1 is EFW 6LBS 9OZ and twin 2 is EFW 7LBS 1OZ so it is official will be having elephants x

BB3 · 12/11/2011 05:13

quempin well done on reaching 3rd trimester - I think with twin pg every week feels like a lifetime but you are on the home stretch x yay xx

Ohhh twin - fan bloody tactic weights. My girls were 5,11 and 6,1 at 37 weeks and would have been closer to 7lb if i made it to my planned cs date a week later - but because of their size, it meant no 3 hourly obs, no scbu, and we were out the next day even after an emergency section (in fact they were discharged before i was!!!) not long now hey...

twinnerves · 12/11/2011 08:37

oo thats good so hopefully with mine being quite big there shouldnt be too many problems as i still wonderif they will need special care and all that even though they will be good weights so thats reassuring.
quempin its always greatwhen you make the next milestone, i count everyday as an achievement and even though im now really tired, cant move much ect ect i know the longer they stay in the oven the better they will be, ive got ten days to put up with the aches and pains and im really enjoying the excuse to sit with feet up and watch rubbish on the tv and when people see me and say very honestly now that i look terrible(thanks!)surely you want them out now i smile politly and say no actually they are happy and healthy in there keeping them inside for a few more days is whatihave prayed for everyday of this pregnancy,im now starting to feel very special being a twin mum its bloody hard work but very very exciting even though they are not here yet xxx
what adventures we have to come!

BB3 · 12/11/2011 08:57

I felt like that - was desperate to get them out until about 34-35 weeks and then was happy for them to stay in until they were cooked and was enjoying the rest when they decided to come out so suddenly x

BB3 · 12/11/2011 08:58

And fingers crossed the weights should be a very good start for them xxx

hells1908 · 12/11/2011 12:32

Well, we survived the Apocalyptic anomaly scan OK - two very healthy little girls. DP went white and said he was emigrating for their entire adolescence ;) Turns out the reason I couldn't feel them, as you suggested dreamfeeder was just the position - they're kicking a lot, but mostly each other. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come...

twinnerves cripes your's are big! But am sure they will be terribly cute elephants :)

dreamfeeder · 12/11/2011 12:33

Yes, good weights has got to be the best thing for them twin well done for the positivity despite the aches and pains.

I am already struggling with back pain- an old injury that came back end of last pg and is back already. 17+2 today, time is standing still its going so slowly for me! Desperate to get to the viable stage!! Very tired today and twins seem quieter. Hope that's my imagination.

quempin, 3rd trimester, the final countdown, well done you!!!!!

And i do feel incredibly lucky and blessed to be having twins maybe that's why I think its too good to be true and something will go wrong

dreamfeeder · 12/11/2011 12:44

quempin, mine said 39. I am horrified (and looked up NICE guidelines which say shouldn't go past 38 due to placenta failing, as bb3 said). But she added we'd see how I was doing nearer the time... couldv consider delivery at 37 as I carried big last time and am big already now. I stopped bf dd 5 days ago. I thought it was really hard for the first 4 weeks, then it really improved. I loved not having to get up and make bottles, I loved the connection and bonding from feeding, I loved not worrying about sterilization and gastroenteritis which is much more common bottle feeding. I used lansinoh on nipples after every feed from day 1 so never got cracked nipples. I don't think either is wrong, but bf was much easier once established. No planning of how long you'll be out, bottles etc. The only problem I had was tried to introduce a bottle at 9 weeks and she'd have none of it- she has never, ever taken a bottle. drank from a healer from 5 months...kind of, but didn't drink much. She still doesn't, maybe just her.

Hooray hells 2 little girls, how fantastic! So glad all was well, big sigh of relief I'm sure :-)

BB3 · 12/11/2011 12:45

quempin my cs was booked for 38 weeks (they deliver at 38 weeks as that's when placenta in twins can start to deteriorate) I had to have cs due to placenta previa but induction would have been same time had I been able to have vb.

At 36+6 weeks twin 1's (Edith-May) placenta detached and I started to haemorrhage and the girls were delivered at 00.44 and 00.47 so exactly 37 weeks which is technically when they are considered full term but they like you to get as close to 38 weeks as possible.

Re bf. I bf both from birth you can do it with both at one time although I personally prefer to feed them individually as I feel less like a milk maid although makes feeding longer. I started expressing at about 5 weeks and now someone other than me give girls twit last Feed before bed so I can do ds' bedtime also means if needed I can go out and have a bit of freedom. Both girls also have dummies but only for sleeping (as they started using me for comfort and not food). Anyway my point is despite being told not to express and dummies are devil by hv I do and girls switch between all three boob, bottle and dummy with no problem whatsoever so you do whatever you need for your babies and ignore what others say x

dreamfeeder · 12/11/2011 12:47

Oh, and I tried a dummy in desperation. Dd wouldn't take it. Glad, as she started sucking fingers so self-soothed from much earlier. I had a friend who ended up getting up 6-8 times a night to put her ds's dummy back in....!!! Before he got to an age where he could find it himself of course.

dreamfeeder · 12/11/2011 12:53

That sounds good bb3, I think I'll aim for similar expressing wise and feeding. My mw said dummies are the work of the devil, but worth a try (I was dying for some sleep, she was terrible at first) particularly if you can wean from them at 3 months ish as a good time to move onto fingers etc in her experience. Dd spat it out so hard it got air!!! Did you have any warning or just start bleeding? That sounds scary!

dreamfeeder · 12/11/2011 12:55

LOL, just saw that post, dd drank from a beaker not a healer!! Blooming auto correct...

BB3 · 12/11/2011 12:58

I had to persevere with the dummies and the girls still don't really like them but if I sneak them in after theyve fed they tend to fall for it but they spit it out as soon as they relax into sleep. Ds did same and gave up his dummy without is even having to try when he was ready!

BB3 · 12/11/2011 13:00

hells yay congrats on your little girls. Dh also couldn't believe it when they arrived. I think the ages of 12 - 20 will be interesting in our house!! Wink

BB3 · 12/11/2011 14:27

Any news on Katy?

quempin, DD is 14 months 2 days now! I'm sad tohave stopped, as she doesn't drink much milk otherwise at all, and I miss our morning feed, but it had got too painful with being pregnant again- like, as bad as the first week again! I was told not to introduce a bottle til 4-6 weeks in to avoid nipple confusion by HV and mw (total rubbish I think now). Although I didn't try til 9 weeks and it was too late for my DD. She has always known what she's wanted though.... To be honest though, I didn't really mind, by then I was finding it easy, and I was lucky, I loved feeding her. I especially loved it when she started looking up at me and making eye contact while she fed. No better feeling! Plus I dumped all my baby weight and was thinner than what I started at by 6 months on while stuffing my face daily- an added bonus! And I am not going to 39 weeks if it just adds the stress of 'is my placenta failing?' to the mix. I'm going to hope to go into labour at 36...

I join you with worrying myself silly over these 2! I hope time goes a bit faster from 20 weeks for me too then Smile I'm absolutely delighted too to be having twins. I was shocked for the first hour, now I can't think of anything better!!!!!

I've not seen anything else from katy, she was last posting in 'really quick help needed' (or similar) in pregnancy, and was admitted and being monitored and no babies yet.

tabby, hope the kitchen is coming on and running water is in the pipeline, and hello to everyone else!!

twinnerves · 13/11/2011 15:20

why is it people say such insensitive things to a very heavily, tired emotional pregnant woman, shop assistant said out loud for the thrid time, are they identical, no i reply she said i would only want twins if they were identical COW! next time im gonna thump her. surprised i didnt actually im starting to feel very short tempered at the moment and scared anxious excited etc etc. Hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend im still in my pj`s buti have only 9 days to go just 9 yikes!

dreamfeeder · 13/11/2011 21:07

twin, because they're total idiots, clearly!! That'd be like you asking a pregnant lady with a little boy 'do you know what the next is?' and if she said another boy replying, oh how disappointing for you.... Madness. Some people really need to think before opening their mouths. A few people have said 'oh, when's the baby due?' to me, and when I say not til April, I'm just bigger as it's twins they've looked at DD, asked how old she is and then said 'oh, you poor thing, how will you cope' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Errr, I'm delighted, get lost, it's not you who'll have to look after them anyway!!!!! I hope you feel better now and can laugh at her stupidity.

I would have thought of loads of witty/ cutting comments later too...
