BB3 · 14/08/2011 20:36

Haha!!! Loving it! GrinGrinGrin

BB3 · 14/08/2011 20:40

princess how many weeks are you now? Sorry I should know that Blush but not selfish at all especially with a dc already!! I'm 32 weeks and now 50inches in circumstance - the thought of potentially 6 more weeks growth is scary!!!!! Wink

ravenlocks · 14/08/2011 20:57

Tigger HUGE CONGRATULATIONS! Well done you. If you are up sharing, would love to hear how the birth went since they came out the traditional way - were they both in the right position? How are they both? And how are you? Do you know if they are identical?

Thanks all for the info re movements - so really it is 20 weeks plus. Maybe I will stop focusing on it for a while then. Have my 16 week midwife apt tomorrow, my first time seeing her since I found out it was twins. Hoping to hear the heartbeats. They a scan in the afternoon. Fingers crossed it is all good news!

ravenlocks · 14/08/2011 20:58

then a scan... duh

MrsStevo · 14/08/2011 21:16

tigger - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What wonderful news! wasn't expecting that when I logged on!! So pleased you're all well and your little boys are here. I bet you are in shock ... look forward to hearing the story of their arrival! Both of yours were bigger than mine and I got to 35 weeks. It is horrid having a baby in SCBU but the care is fantastic, fingers crossed for him joining you tomorrow. Pretty please can you upload some pics when you get a chance? And let us know their names!! very excited for you! And VERY well done on the VBAC x x

BB3 · 14/08/2011 21:16

raven hope tomorrow goes well! Believe me at some points now when im being scratched in the pelvis, kicked in the ribs and have a Mexican wave simultaneously going off in my tummy I wonder why i was so anxious to feel them kick pre 20 weeks Grin! No in all seriousness I found that early bit so frustrating but it's like it suddenly switches on one day and then you're in for a couple of little drummers!!! We've got our next scan on Tuesday - cannot wait!!!

Oh and yay birth story if you're feeling up to it tigger - I love a good birth story I remember when I was pg with DS secretly stalking the earlier antenatal threads to read theirs! Blush

MrsStevo · 14/08/2011 21:20

Haven't had a new one of these for AGES, so here we are... it needs some updating though so get adding yourselves!

Oh, MASSIVE congrats to Tigger do tell us more if you can!!

And raven I started feeling the slightest sensations at 14 weeks (really could've been anything!) but didn't get a proper kick until a few weeks ago. Now 26wks and properly getting booted in the kidneys/bladder/ribs on a regular basis, stomach jumping when I balance my supper on it, keeping me awake, the works! Don't worry, and don't wish it too quickly!

Added myself to the list. Had a scan today and all looking well and normal. Phew! Will enjoy not feeling the jabs and boots while it lasts then!!

Really amazing reading the list of those that have had twins, especially the due dates vs deilvery dates.

PrincessScrumpy · 15/08/2011 21:43

What buggies is every getting / got?

I really want a Mountain Buggy Duet but we've discovered the Out and About Nipper fits through our door so that would be the economical option. Depends how sensible I'm feeling when we buy it.

BB3 · 15/08/2011 22:02

raven yay for good scan - Tis so nice seeing them again!

princess we've got the bugaboo donkey which I hated at first but then fell in love with (tbh think name put me off the most Grin) we have an out and about running buggy for DS and it's amazing! By far better than the travel system we had before xx

BB3 · 15/08/2011 22:02

Oh and raven any idea on what flavour babies you are cooking (obviously don't say if you want it to be a secret!) xxx

MrsStevo · 16/08/2011 04:45

Yay Raven! Good news on the scan. Just FYI, I finished work just before 28 weeks and I was more than ready for it! I know I had a super-complicated pregnancy, but even so I don't think I'd have wanted to go on any longer if it were straight forward.

Princess - we got the Baby Jogger City Select. I can't rate it highly enough to be honest. It is super manovreable (can't spell at this time of day!) and folds down to nothing plus it has plenty of storage space. Depends if you want side by side or a long pram. We needed a long one as our front door and hallway are quite narrow. I personally didn't like the donkey (sorry BB3) and it hasn't had spectacular reviews from what I understand but then some people seem to love it.

Ah no worries mrsS I won't start pram war GrinGrinGrin

princess my biggest recommendation would be go to a shop (JL/mothercare etc) and make the attendant go through a variety of prams and ask every question you could possibly think of. Get them to break it up, wheels on off, seats on pram on etc. The city select looked great and I was all for getting it until logistically it didn't work for us. We live in a village so the length of it meant that to cross a road either me as DS or one of the babies would be on the road in the traffic (unless we waited sideways). As I said when I initially saw the donkey I refused it point blank but then playing around with it I fell in love with it (particularly as DS an fit in it until he's 4 so could put him + 1 baby in the pram and have baby 2 in sling if needed) and you can change the colours (of which I currently have three Wink) and they have a click on system which means it just slots into place (with DS' buggy I was forever forgetting to clink the security thing). Felt a bit like my wedding dress was all set on a style and ended up going for complete opposite! Anyway it won't be for everyone but I read loads of reviews and then just went with my gut feel on which one worked for us (DH still hasn't seen it!!)

Scan today and consultant - if he doesn't give me some answers I'm going all hormonal on him!!!

Boo for scan - so my midwife theory that placenta had shifted was wrong - Sad - completely the opposite in fact!!! placenta is now fully wedged in 4cms down (had to have an internal to asses how far it had lodged). Sonographer reckons there's no chance of it moving as does consultant but registrar has apparently seen it happen before. AND to add insult to injury BOTH babies have turned and are presenting breech in a kid of spooning position (which is cute i know but still!!!) so I think I'm going to have to admit defeat and face up to my cs. Looks like barring no complications or early labour will be somewhen between 12 and 19th september so at the very least I have a focal point!

They are hoping that I will get past 34 weeks so no steroids but I'm to go in at the slightest twinge just in case because of the positions! These babies don't make it easy do they!!! Wink

Hope everyone is ok today and enjoying the cool weather.

Boo indeed BB3, sorry to hear that babies and placenta aren't playing ball. Have you had a CS before? I had one this time and was dreading it - mostly because of the recovery time and trying to deal with two tiny babies. But I have to say it was all much better than I anticipated and I was up and about the next day, virtually pain free. The worst part is being stuck in recovery if your babies are taken to SCBU but you get there in the end.

And like you say, you have a focal point now and it is 4 weeks away!!! That's nothing! My girls were born 4 weeks ago tomorrow and i have no idea where the time has gone.

BB3 · 16/08/2011 15:07

MrsS no I haven't had one before - was induced with DS. I am mostly worried about not being able to drive but also not being able to be active with DS after they come but we'll figure it out - it's the only way babies will be safe so I can't really complain about 6 weeks of no driving.

I know 4 weeks is nice, it might be a bit over but by days rather than weeks! Can't believe it's been almost 4 weeks - crikey that time has flown by! How are they getting on now size wise and feeding? Is it strange imagining life before they came?

ravenlocks · 16/08/2011 16:44

Hi, ooh reading with interest on the prams discussion, will refer back to this in weeks to come when I am looking at prams. At the moment it just seems like a mind boggling minefield!

BB3 cute re breech spooning but not conducive to a natrual birth clearly! Is your placenta over your cervix? I was told that twin 1's placenta is the same, well right on the edge, but was told it will for sure move as the uterus stretches but of course I am still v small (not in mat clothes yet, although going to have to admit that I do need to and go shopping at the weekend for various smocks!)

Yes we did find out the flavours. Two boys! Wasn't what I was expecting - was expecting (and dare I say secretly hoping Blush) for one of each, but the news has sunk in and DH and I are both loving the prospect of two boys now. Thinking about all the things that will be sooo much easier due to the fact they are the same sex - sharing rooms, toys, clothes, early on and friends, hobbies, bday parties etc later in life might just make things slightly more straight forward! Now wondering whether or not they are identical - won't find that out till after they are here.

Really wondering about mat leave now -had thought I would start it at 36 weeks and use annual leave to leave work at about 33 weeks. What I am worried about is losing annual leave if (say) I have the babies earlier than 36. Not sure what to do! I will be able to work from home for the last few weeks, but wondering even if it is a bit of a mad idea to try to work so late. Just want to maximse the time I will have with the babies and also the time i will be being paid full whack. Any advice??
