New thread here ladies.

Again, many thanks to Frakk for the inspired title Smile

Do you think this thread will be the last ante-natal one for the April 11 crew? Or will I be the last one standing and having to start a new thread and talking to myself?! Hmm

Hi guys,

Very quick update. Went for third sweep today and they have finally discovered that LO is breech. I've suspected for a while, but means I am booke din for c-section tomororw AM :-(. Gutted, as you can imagine. But means I'll get LO by lunchtime at least.

Havent' got a smart phone, but will aim to update when I get a chance.

Best of luck - hope you get the safe births that you wish for and healthy LOs.

Lots of love xxx

SarahJinx · 04/05/2011 19:37

oh milla best of luck, we'll be thinking of you! Can't believe its taken this long for them to figure it out, what happened?

Don't be gutted, it is what it is and you're getting your gorgeous bundle!

kittycatcat · 04/05/2011 20:38

Milla ditto Sarah will be thinking of you and cant believe they hadnt noticed before! Really looking forward to hearing your news! xxx

JustKeepSwimming · 04/05/2011 20:47

Milla - good luck for tomorrow! I had a c-s for DS2 as he was breech. It was not what I wanted but it was OK. My recovery was textbook & they tried to stick to as much of my birth plan as poss:

  • showed him to me to announce his gender
  • didn't dress him straight away so i could have skin-to-skin later once i was sitting up
  • sure there was something else but i've forgotten!

Anyway, you will meet baby very soon, so enjoy :)

Sassy20 · 04/05/2011 22:56

Good luck Milla. Once you have lo in your arms, it won't matter how they got here. X

LisMcA · 05/05/2011 06:13

Good Luck Milla, On day 6 after my CS and it really isn't as bad as you first think. If you get to read this before you go in, a couple of things that I offer are:

The spinal isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am a bit of a needle-phobe though!
It feels like someone is doing the washing up in your tummy and feels totally surreal!
The surgeons may just have a wee chat about something really inane (mine spoke about the football that afternoon, DH even joined in :o)
Don't refuse any pain relief when offered afterwards.
If you are breastfeeding the rugby ball hold might be most comfortable at first.
Still ask for skin to skin as soon as you are out of theatre/recovery.

Think thats it, but you will be absolutely fine. Just a wee while till you have the most precious bundle in your arms.

Freda was born on 29th April at 13.51 weighing 8lb9oz. After 3 hours of pushing and no head in sight we were sent to theatre and she was delivered by forceps. The whole process was quite traumatic as I was having seizures whilst contracting, so was given an epidural when only 3cms dilated, thereafter I was fine and dandy! Without exception the staff at B'ham's Women's Hospital were amazing, chocolates and a card totally fail to reflect our gratitude! We only arrived home last night as Freda had an infection, initially thought to be GBS, so she had a course of antibiotics. So glad to be home :)

kittycatcat · 05/05/2011 11:34

Congrats count. sounds v traumatic but great that you were so well looked after.

SarahJinx · 05/05/2011 18:38

My congrats too Count but seizures, jeez! Glad you're all home and safe now.

Wondering about milla how lovely for her.

I had a nightmare today, was booked in for the sweep, got there and my usual cmw not there so was told to see another one, was wracking brains to place her when remembered it was the one from my booking appointment....the one who - got my dates wrong and then said leave them like that as it 'was tidier' prescribed me somthing I've since been told should never be given to pregnant women, smelt and swore and told me lots of other wrong info. My other cmw seem to not rate her at all either and are quite vocal about it.

So.

I had a bit of a cry, was pissed off because had left it this late only so that I could see my usual lady and was no way letting horrible one near me, told practise manager in floods of tears that I wasn't happy and now have another app for tomorrow.

I feel a bit silly for getting so upset but it's a big deal I think. I'm really late and I want to do things properly, also I still had to see her for ante natal check anyway and she proved me right by saying, oooh are you having loads of dirty sex to get things moving, get him to play with your nipples.....oh I hate her.

So, still no baby....

Kiity fire service do fit smoke alarms for free and tell you best means of escape from your house in the event of a fire. Hope all is well with you, silence in here today makes me wonder if I'm the only one left now Sad

Leilababyno1 · 05/05/2011 18:41

Good-luck LittleMilla am sure you are holding your lovely baby by now!

Congratulations count!

Well, MW attempted a sweep and even though I was 50% effaced, cervix is still closed so she couldn't actually sweep the membranes. Needless to say it wasn't painful and thus far hasn't done anything....Sad

I am booked in for another tomorrow, when I will be 40+6....am REALLY hoping there has been some movement since yesterday, even 1 cm would be nice! I have been for a massive walk, had sex and been bouncing on the birth ball all day! Induction booked for the 12th May, but am hoping it won't be needed. MW did say that she could just about feel babies head and my waters, so they could be broken easily if it comes to it...

kittycatcat · 05/05/2011 19:51

I'm still here. Very uncomfortable but nothing doing.

Sarah you were right to be upset. perhaps when baby has arrived and you are settled you could make an official complaint. She shouldn't talk to you like that. She sounds vile.

fingers crossed for you leila

SarahJinx · 05/05/2011 20:04

Thanks Kitty at the time I was mortfied and torn between wanting the sweep and desparately not wanting her to do it, but new appointment is at 11 tomorrow so not long, you're back on tuesday right?

I might complain and vile is the right word! Hope you're not too uncomfortable and that if you are it's a good sign!

Leila hope all goes well for you too, I'll see you there!

kittycatcat · 05/05/2011 20:09

I'm just having a check up tue am and inductions booked for tue at 6.

SarahJinx · 05/05/2011 20:24

ah I see, I'm hoping my little bean will be here by then but am now +11 and first sweep is tomorrow, am in for a mad weekend if nature doesn't intervene I think!

kittycatcat · 05/05/2011 20:26

You must be climbing the Walls! Come on bean!!

SarahJinx · 05/05/2011 20:46

Not really, come on out, little beggar far too snug in there!

kittycatcat · 05/05/2011 21:18

My Facebook status today was I'm 41 weeks and comments such as cheer up when you have the hump are well intentioned they make you worse as does the following when overdue; he will come when he's ready and you've obviously made him v comfortable. Got great support back ;-)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/05/2011 21:22

Really strong labour vibes for those of you still waiting :)

SarahJinx · 06/05/2011 14:47

Sweep finally done and a score of 8, which I think is pretty positive? So, now we wait, mw says she has a v high success rate and it bloody hurt so hoping she's as good as she says, if not, Induction Monday.
