Be a bit comforted that puking is generally a sign of a good, strong baybee. Feel free to punch me for being annoying. My nausea did wear off around 11 weeks or so so here's hoping.

owlbooty · 04/05/2011 10:32

You poor lovelies. I absolutely hate being sick after a childhood of barfing on every form of transport invented, so you have my fullest sympathy.

I went to the NCT class last night and learnt nothing new but I think Mr Boots was mildly horrified by the graphic demonstration of what 10cm dilated looks like (dairylea triangle box, apparently).

Ivegotmrbitey · 04/05/2011 10:38

I do gaga I keep thinking I am about to get a sore throat but happily it never materialises. Kindly fling a wasabi pea in my direction, they are my faves!

owlie I am more than mildly horrifed about the dairylea triangle box! How on earth do your innards stay with that bloody great chasm opening? Oh, that's the whole point isn't it? Have just looked a ten cm on my ruler and feel a bit faint! Am going to stop making lists and go and sunbathe in de nile instead!*

*apologies for over use of exclamation marks but I have had a fright.

MadameBoo · 04/05/2011 10:45

Dairyleas triangle box? Really? Wow - that's 'mazin. I got that far but was too fucked to care about the details and then they carted me off for a section but is it wierd that I wish someone had taken a photo so I could see what it looked like? :o

Cosmosis · 04/05/2011 10:57

Laydeez, I venture here to offer up a couple of books for free that may be useful for differs / newly hatched;

The NCT breastfeeding book ? quite a good book about all sorts of bfing things, a reassuring read in the first weeks of seemingly constant feeding!
The NCT Babycalming book ? some good tips for stopping screaming!
What Mothers Do ? a v hippy type book about bonding and lurve and how the early days are all about lying around the house cuddling the baybee ;)

Just shout up if you want any and I will post.

The Cresh is being prepared for the imminent arrival of scorps as we speak!

Orchid12 · 04/05/2011 11:22

Oh my, I feel faint, someone catch me pliz. A dairylea box? Best not to think of the details - that's horrible!

In better news, I have just taken delivery of the new pram mattress, cotbed mattress and single bed mattress. We now just need the bedstead to be delivered and we have everything big that we need. Then just the small matter of swapping all the beds round but I shall be leaving that task with Mr O. I had a manic washing session over the weekend too and have a wardrobe filled with beautiful smelling vests, sleepsuits, pram blankets and sheets, socks, and anything else that could go in the washing machine. I have got the carrycot down from the loft and have washed that too so I'll take mini O's pram out of action soon and put that back togther and give a good clean ready for squidge to use. I am officially getting stupidly excited seeing all the baby stuff coming together now. I'm working on my hossie bag, but can't wash and put the first outfit in yet as my mum is coming down next weekend and I know she will look/want to see everything so have kept any sex specific stuff wrapped up in a drawer in my bedroom. She still doesn't know that we know the sex, but I wouldn't put it past her to go rooting round anyway (she's babysitting so will have the run of the house for an evening).

In even better news - welcome BB. Absolutely fantastic to see you round these parts.

LGG I am also constantly feeling snotty. Differs snot and hayfever combined is not making me a pleasant bed fellow so Mr O and I have parted company and he's in the spare room for the moment. He says I keep snoring and stopping him getting to sleep which is making him v.grumpy! I am now enjoying having a king size bed to star fish in - there always an upside to these things!

BarbiesBeaver · 04/05/2011 11:39

Cheers me dears. Obviously am very grateful to be here (can I put that as my disclaimer for everything I ever moan about in future?) but would rather be "Oh I feel ever so slightly sick" rather than violently hurling at all hours. Am also doing my daily Heparin injections to avoid Teflon Womble syndrome, hence the low key sidling in approach rather than galloping into the Deli screeching with my still moist POAS between my teeth. Am just over 6 weeks by the way.

owlbooty · 04/05/2011 11:43

Oooh Cos thank you for the hippobirthing book you sent me, I have got it :)

Weirdly I was not freaked out by the dairylea triangle box as I am not actually that worried about labour at all, I just figure it will happen how it happens and if that's what is supposed to happen then that is probably okay

GG I too have the snotters. Is bloody annoying and slightly made worse with the hayfever.

Ivegotmrbitey · 04/05/2011 11:53

orchs I also have drawers and a wardrobe full of freshly frgarant line dried baby clothes. I am having many squees over them! It's lush isn't it? Just wish the nursery didn't still look like my study with a pile of baby things in too. We are stuck waiting for new windows so can't paint or clean the carpet until they have been. There is plenty of time yet though, but am running out of things to tick off on my list.

In me versus mamas and papas news I spoke to their customer services this morning and have been given a full refund. They were vay vay nice so I will stop slagging them off to anyone who wil listen now! Except for the cows in my local shop, they are still on the list.

Scorpette · 04/05/2011 11:55

Awww, fanks, Cosmo, that's so lovely! I'd love to blag the BF book, if that's not cheeky - but only so I can be more confident to wap my norks out for the CRESH, you understand Wink

I am 38 wks today and for some reason, I've had this date fixated in my mind as The Big Day. But I don't think it's going to be so. Quite happy to put off The Dairylea Experience for another day (that was the one thing I learnt/saw that really made me think 'wtf have I done?!' in my NCT classes)!

Bitey, great minds and all that re: Jedi babies (I've made the same joke on FB, laydeez) Grin

Poor old Truff and BB Sad The first trimester can really be a 'be careful what you wish for' (in the best way) trial by fire as regards feeling rough as a dog. Can only second cold things and lemony things.

Oh, and BB - Grin Grin Grin Grin

Loz, if you name the baybee Chewbacca, will you be moving to Wookie Hole?

Orchid, am impressed by your sorting-things-out-ness whilst feeling so bleeurgh. I have experienced the joy that is having a cold and hayfever, so am impressed you're not just a moaning pile of snot right now :)

Truff - boo to the Strep-B thang, but great they've caught it so early. You're lucky that they test at all where you are. I've actually been sorting out a testing mare today myself - being paranoid and neurotic, I wanted to be tested for Strep-B, so I asked my mw who said she'd try and sort it out. Have been chasing her about it for a few wks and only 10 mins ago, spoke to another mw who said there's nothing on the system that indicates I requested it and that even if I send off for a private test, I'll probably have had the baby before the results arrive. FFS. She thought that palming me off with 'it's very rare, dear' was enough, as if the other mw lying and being useless was acceptable Angry I'm sure everything will be fine, but that's not the point, is it, hmmmph.

Same here booty i am zeeeeeen. Although it was funny seeing the lads faces at NCT when she laid out 10 pale pink circles on the floor increasing in diameter from 1 cm to 10 cm :o

Barbie I am super super excited for you, I can understand you wanting to keep it a bit low key at the stage but can I just get a massive SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! off my chest? Thats bloody fabulous news. Ok I will go back to sitting quietly in the corner and crossing everything that the needles keep your womble coated with aryldite.

PS sorry you are feeling rotten, and you truffs Hair strokes and flat ginger ale (snort)

I am currently doing marathon nappy washing session, it's going to take 2 loads to do the lot and they need doing twice. I am slightly fainting at the waste of water this is but I suppose its the price I am going to pay for not contributing 10,000 nappies to land fill. Also bit miffed at JLP as i was told to ring the week before we wanted the car seat and buggy delivered. So I have rung and they said delivery in 2 weeks (when i will be 38 weeks) THEN they said their order system says we took delivery 2 months ago when we paid for it. Pah, they are going to ring back in a bit though so hopefully this fables CS will kick into action.

Cosmosis · 04/05/2011 12:06

no probs scorps message me your address and I'll stick it in the post.

Glad it arrived Owls :) hope you find it useful.

rocketleaf · 04/05/2011 12:20

I would also be very grateful for the baby calming if you dont mind splitting the postage? cossifantutti

JL sorted (bit of miss communication their end) and we are getting everything next Tuesday. Phew. She made me laugh as she said oneof my favourite phrases 'the arse doesn't know what the elbow's doing' Wonder if she learnt that at JLP CS training :o

Scorpette · 04/05/2011 12:21

Cheers muchly, Cosmopolitan, will do (btw, no used kickers in the post like last time, ta) Grin

Oooh, I must tell youse about the Hmm thing I accidentally said this morning: saw TYF getting dressed and he was putting on his 'best pants' - his one pair of designer knickers that he only wears on special occasions (also because the sight of him in them drives me mad with lust, so is not practical to wear a lot) but he'd run out of clean pants. As he hasn't sorted out a spare change of clothes for the hossie bag, I tried to joke that he should save them to wear when the baby arrives. Except what I actually said was 'Ooooh, you ought to save your sexy pants for the baby'...

Hello, Childline? How do I register myself? Blush

PS Am I a Bad Person for buying organic disposables? Have checked they are all biodegradable.

Cosmosis · 04/05/2011 12:24

no probs rocketman message me your address. fannyp gave me that one so it's nice to pass things on.

What nappies are you using out of interest? I have some fuzibuns and some naturebabies stuffables to sell on as they don't seem to suit Artie's shape, not sure where to sell them as I don't think you can put them on ebay any more. I am using totsbots and love them :)

macaroonmum · 04/05/2011 12:34
rocketleaf · 04/05/2011 13:25

Thanks cossie message sent. I am using a two part nappy system. I have one totsbots that I got in a sample set but I went with the little lambs in the end they were cheaper and very similar (although the boosters do not snap in). Microfibre ones for the day time and organic cotton for night time. Prior to 10 lbs I am going to attempt to use muslins but might fall back on disposables if that doesn't work. I am hoping that sounds more complicated than it actually is!

I have gone for thirsties wraps because they are sooooo cute. They are quite new to the UK I think but get good reviews from what I can find so I am hoping they aren't all style over content!

macca the reason I was recommended the microfibre ones is that they dry super fast. we only have a small yard and in winter everything will have to radiator dry as we don't have a dryer, so hopefully the house is not going to be constantly festooned with nappies at all times (i bought extra so i should only have to wash them every other day.)

rocketleaf · 04/05/2011 13:29

cossie could you try and sell them on here either in the nappies section or the classifieds? I thought you could sell em on Ebay still. have they stopped it as that was my plan when sprout has to go up a size!

laurielou · 04/05/2011 13:29

I'm still reeling from the dairy lee box. Pliz never to mention that again.

BB Grin Grin welcome! Tis fantabulous to see you here. Will be even more fantabulous if the vomming would cease for you.

I'm still waiting for my Mamas & Papas delivery. They have 2 mins to be within the allocated time slot. Which they said was only a guide anyway. I have a bad feeling....... they rang to try & deliver it all about 3 weeks ago; I told them to buggar off.

Cosmosis · 04/05/2011 13:32

Oh those wraps are lovely!!! I may have to invest in some :) I have motherease wraps which I like, but they are not as pretty!

I used disposables at first, he seemed to do a poo every 10 minutes so didn't feel I was up to all the washing, but for no 2 I think I'll try for washables from birth if I can.

having enough so you don't have to wash every day is a good idea, I wash every other and can only just about cope with that now I'm back at work.

Cosmosis · 04/05/2011 13:34

you have to pay to sell on here and I am tight Grin Looking , I think the cloth nappy tree is the best place.

You can sell new nappies on ebay but not used ones any more.

macaroonmum · 04/05/2011 13:38

those wraps are so, so cute!

I have just ordered my Calin Bleu wrap in Olive Smile
Now, just need to do EVERYTHING ELSE...

rocketleaf · 04/05/2011 13:41

I have one motherease from the selection pack, I know they are good but I am a sucker for a cute pattern :o I have some disposables my freind had left when her boy suddenly got too big for them (poonamis every time) but only enough for about 3-4 days. I think I am probably kidding myself that it will be ok to switch to muslins at that point but am going to have a crack, if it all goes to shit (badum tsh) then I can always buy more disposables.

lozzer hope M&P do not disappoint! How are you settling into ML now? Two of my NCT class finished last week but 'popped in' yesterday morning and ended up staying in work all day. I think they are NUTS (is there something wrong with me?)
