lk,

sorry you are feeling pants, when is your DP due back and when did you last speak to him?

Have you told people that you are pregnant yet? It might be time to let your friends know and arrange a girly lunch, just to make sure that you have people around you that will cheer you up?

I used to run around all weekend cleaning and tidying and for the last couple of months I just haven't had the energy, to be honest I'm just enjoying the peace and quiet cos that's going to be in very short supply once the baby is here!!! I would honestly just go with the flow, read, relax and chill out.

Hope you feel better soon :)

Caliphora · 26/04/2011 17:13

lktoday - I know how you feel - some days I just want it all to be over and done with! I'm quite good at curling up on the sofa and feeling sorry for myself on those days - but we're all different.

Do something that makes you happy - maybe something you haven't done since you were a girl? Eat a traffic light lolly, people watch from your favourite cafe, or just chill at home with a nice long bath and your favourite author's latest book. Watch Ghostbusters and laugh - bake fairy cakes and decorate them with silly things.
I made silly little booties for Sprout and spent a whole day giggling at how small and cute they were.

I found my knitting really relaxes me - ravelry.com is brilliant for forums, free patterns and distraction from miserable days.

And as for work - you are pulling your weight - your BabyMama weight! Keep communications open with your boss and have regular "check-ins" to make sure you're not slipping behind in his/her eyes.

Hugs!

Hiya, am pretty sure there is no legislation about men taking time off for partner's antenatal appointments unfortunately. Seems insensitive of the boss but given that it may not be culturally the done thing in that organisation to take time off for such things (god alone knows why!) then there seems not much you can do :(

Anyhow nice to see some good scans and happy bumps! Also nice to see that I am not alone in feeling huge. Sniff. Honestly my OH looks at me and i can tell he is thinking fgs woman snap out of it then other times he is like crikey she is going to be the size of a house at the end of all this if she keeps on growing a bump at this rate! Cannot wait to get my scan date just to put my mind at rest that everything is ok and to get some idea of how far along I am! Mw in the morning for booking appt...

Caliphora · 26/04/2011 18:08

Who here is at the very beginning of November?
I'm kinda hoping it's either be a few days early (Hallowe'en Baby!) or a day late (Bonfire Night Baby!)

CazandBelle · 26/04/2011 18:18

Picture on profile now and blog here

cali I'm the 8th Nov so kinda early. Although will most likely be induced anytime from 18th Octover onwards depending on how I'm emotionally doing (e.g. how neurotic and loony I've become) and how Bow is doing. I'm just hoping we get that far this time.

A bonfire night baby would be really special. That was my Grandad's birthday and he was my favourite person ever.

cep · 26/04/2011 18:37

lizzy sorry dh's work are being awkward, but like the others have said i don't think they have to do anything for ptnrs.

cal i'm due 5/11 would be nice for bonfire night.

lk sorry you're feeling low, like someone said maybe there's something you can do to treat yourself.

nothing to report here, just the usual neuroses. (sp?)

Hils74 · 26/04/2011 18:46

Hi all, been lurking for the last few weeks as haven't had any energy to do anything other than lie on the sofa!

Welcome newbies and excellent news for all the scanners!

I had my booking in app 3 wks ago and got my Bounty pack and NHS pregnancy guide, mw said she'd sign off excemption cert after scan.

Roughly 12 wks today and my dating / nuchal scan is on Thurs so EDD is 08/11/11 but could all change :)

I haven't had much ms, just nauseous all day and have only been sick in the evenings, trust me to do the opposite!

Ik sorry you're not feeling too good, have you got family / close friends you can talk to?

lizzy i don't know abt employee rights for Dads, my OH has had to take the day off to come with me on Thurs.

Katiebeau · 26/04/2011 18:46

Hello Everyone. Just checking in and trying to catch up on the news. Welcome newcomers and hurray for all the great scan news this week. Big hug to Caz, great news, I hope the dreams stay away.

RE feeling large - spent a fortune on maternity summer clothes this weekend. I couldn't take the heat anymore in the same 2 dresses!!! Weight must be down as needed a size smaller than last time but at 13 weeks I have much more "tummy" than last time. Unfortunately all my clothes from last time are thick, dark colours and more winter suitable. Which also means I much have only started showing at 4.5 months, not 3!

Otherwise just popped in to say hello to everyone and big wishes for the end of MS for you all. Mine started to abate at 11 weeks and apart from 1st thing before breakfast all seems better.

Xposted Caliphora - I am dating to the 31st October so I'm hoping it's not exactly on time!!!

missvague · 26/04/2011 18:49

lk, i felt just the same yestersday, really very low and sorry for myself. i've had a much better day today, i hope you will have an 'up' day soon.

only a few boxes to go, i made DP clear out the shed today as punishment for disappearing to his mums. very satisfying indeed. Wink

Caliphora · 26/04/2011 18:49

Cazandbelle Bonfire night would be awesome - I would tell the baby all the fireworks was for him/her for as long as I could get away with it!

voodoomunkee · 26/04/2011 18:56

edd so far 4th Nov but my dd is the 10th Nov so really hoping to be early!

TerrysNo2 · 26/04/2011 18:59

Caz so so Grin for you and your good news. Loved your blog post, also read your first one which was so moving. Hope my comments are ok, its tough to know what to say and especially over the internet sometimes!

Also great scan news for localcrackpot Grin Hope your docs appointment goes well.

If anyone is contemplating the nuchal scan (who has to pay) unless money is really tight then I would suggest going for it. My SIL just had bloods at 18 weeks and they came back at 1 in 150 which really stressed them out and they had an amnio. She was only 30 and I am so sure that if they had the combined test (nuchal) the odds would have been much better, and they wouldn't have had that stressful time. Although if you don't care at all then don't get any results!

Bluetinkerbell · 26/04/2011 19:18

Caliphora I'm dated 3rd of November, already have a Halloween baby, DD Wink so preferably not the same day, 11/11/11 would be very special and easy to remember as well...

Caz your Bow looks absolutely adorable!

voodoomunkee · 26/04/2011 19:31

oooo Blue yes OH and i said something the same about 11/11/11! However I think that would probably mean I was in labour (knowing my luck) on dd's bday so may have to pass on that option!

localcrackpot · 26/04/2011 19:40

Thanks all for good wishes - Terrys I think it went well - no meds but signed off for a week. That's only actually 2 days off work (which is good too) but means I can try to recouperate. Thanks!
Caliphora I was dated 5th November by my reckoning and the MW's, but the scan said 3rd November, which is equally possible... I was a JSer on the conception board, hatching plans to jump my dh at all hours in fancy undies, haha! I now have only two bras that really fit. How things change!
lk don't beat yourself up. I was never in any way athletic, but I used to have stamina. I had choir on Mondays and Fridays, and went to Wales to learn Welsh on Tuesdays and Thursdays, all after work. I am not making it up when I say all I can do is lie on the sofa now. That was even before the new chest infection. If you can swim lengths now it's a testament to the level of your fitness before you got knocked up Grin

CazandBelle · 26/04/2011 19:49

hey thanks ladies! Biased I know but I think Bow is already rather gorgeous too!

terrys lovely comments on my blog thank you. My first post seems such a long long time ago. I think I'm in a different place now, well I know I am, but I still have many days where I feel just like that. I guess they'll continue to get further apart. I started my blog as the "shock bubble" burst and reality set in. Probably hit my lowest point and wasn't coping at all and blogging has really helped. Helps to process all those thoughts and everything else thats goes through my head and around me and somehow I begin to make sense of some of it!

katie I'm another one who desperately needs to expand the maternity summer clothes. I'd only bought a few bits last year and with all these hot days I definitely need more. DH gets paid Thurs, I'm sensing a shopping trip for me!

freeangel · 26/04/2011 20:11

Wow, its amazing how much you lot chat! Congrats to you caz on your scan, i have read your blog previously. It was very moving and made me cry. I havent looked at your bow yet! Grin
Sorry that some ladies are feeling rough, i would name you but i really cant remember what i just read! Sorry!
I think im in need of some new clothes especially bras, i seem to have gone from having 15 to 2! I have ended up in non-wire? Anybody else done the same?

Good luck to those having scans tomorrow! This has been the slowest 8 and half weeks of my life! Roll on tmrw at 11.20!

bumpandisaacsmum · 26/04/2011 20:11

Another in need of maternity clothes here... My sister has lent me some & have some loose/stretchy clothes that will do for now but am due back at work next week & will be asking for maternity uniforms as cannot fit in my trousers & my tunics are rather tight!!!

Am due 7/11 & first thing DP said was 11/11 baby!! We like easy to remember dates (DS was due 16/04 but arrived 23/4/5, my neice also easy with 4/5/6 :) )

Was so glad last week, 11weeks and no ms (some nausea though) then BANG 2 days of ms worse than before & not even due to too much chocolate - been back on bread & water (literally) and even that isn't staying down :( oh well all will be worth it!!

Congrats for those with good scan news, really pleased for you Caz

lktoday5 · 26/04/2011 20:14

All - thanks for your lovely messages. I ended up putting my scan picture on FB and got lots of lovely messages which has cheered me up - oh, and i managed a swim, which always makes me feel better.

missvague love your work - long may it continue!

hils unfortunately not close by, which is half the problem - my mom died in January so Im still grieving. I'm an only child and we were incredibly close and I havent spoken to my dad for nearly 20 years so i'm pretty much on my own in the world. I moved to a new town when she was terminally ill so i could be closer to her but literally dont know a soul here. I do have amazing friends though, admittedly scattered round the country but i know all i have to do is call

twojack - i took your advice THANK YOU and its been lovely seeing the messages .....DP is back either saturday or sunday - has felt like the longest tour ever, although id best get used to it - he's also going to be away when bubba enters the world ....

caliphora your message made me smile a LOT. I'm going to bake home made jammy dodgers on friday and i may just get my sewing out in front of dirty dancing (well, and the royal wedding). AND I'm going to paint my nails and do nice things in preparation for DP's return. Oh, and Im due 5th Nov .....

freeangel · 26/04/2011 20:25

Thats a shame you are having a crappy time iktoday Sometimes life is hard and unfair. Glad you have friends you can turn to. Would you like our addresses to send us some homemade jammy dodgers! They sound yummy x

Poppet45 · 26/04/2011 21:00

Great to hear the fab scan news girls!!!
Ik I'm sorry you've had a tough time recently. Not to scare you but do keep an eye on how you are feeling because those hormones can be hard work mentally as well as physically. Talk to your midwife if you have any worries. I think I'm on mine's to watch list after blubbing about DS's birth at our first ever meeting. I'm so sorry to hear about your mum too. My dad left when I was 13 and my mum died in a road accident when I was 17 and, well, it leaves scars forever. I felt the loss all over again when DS was born without a doting granny, so to have the grief so fresh must make things even harder. If you need to vent we're all here.

Poppet45 · 26/04/2011 21:10

Oh and that really posh wedding, where I had been threatened with having to invest in a hat/fascinator? Quelle surprise it's child free so we're off the hook Grin

BuffyFan · 26/04/2011 21:15

Good luck for scans tomorrow everybody! And great news from scans over the last couple of days!!

I'm like MooseyMoo and ms for me seems to be day-long feeling pukey, but not being pukey... and I'm definitely going for the spotty / greasy haired version of pregnancy, not the glowing / thick shiny locks version!!

Staceroo I'm telling the boss this week as well I think - I'm fed up with him looking at me as if I'm rubbish at my job when it's really because I'm feeling lousy!

LK I definitely have days like this. When I got home from work tonight I just sat and cried for no reason - yet another reason for telling people at work as there's only so long I can stave off the tears till home time.

And I'd second what Poppet45 says - I'm emotional with no reasons to be, so it can happen to anybody and having sad things in your life will only make it worse.
