OK, well we've needed a new thread for ages so I've taken it upon myself to start it.

Good luck ladies - we are nearly down to the last month

35 + 2 or should I say "T minus 4wks 5 days"!

MINNIE1 · 11/11/2005 09:12

Thats right SH last day!!! oooohhhhh Hope you have a fab day and they spoil you..

Nemo,
carpet sounds lovely and to have it all done now must be a weight of your mind..

ninah · 11/11/2005 09:21

hello all. George, I'll check out Argos, thanks! got this picture of you all bouncing around.
Losing my marbles, did an album of holiday photos from this year and brought it to work to guillotine, then drove off with it on bonnet of car. LUckily it was handed in and seems to be relatively unscathed, - but anyone else V forgetful, losing keys, gen shedding brain cells?

MINNIE1 · 11/11/2005 09:37

O yes Ninah! left for work this morning without lodgement book and had to turn back and get it! I think it was jays that left the cheese in the microwave! I did that with DP phone except it was the fridge!

I can see my brain cells fallin out!!!

sweetheart · 11/11/2005 09:56

Well, WOOHOO!!!! I've just had my official handover with my boss and now I have absolutly NO WORK left to do. Everyone is being taken home to drop their cars off too. I can't believe the day I have been waiting for since I 1st found out I was expecting in September last year has finally arrived!!! It's soooooo wierd!

george/nemo - it's great having new carpet isn't it!! We had our lounge done with a really thick pile last year and when it was laid dd and I laid on the carpet and made snow angels. She always mentions it and it's a very fond memory for me

DQ - try not to panic honey - at least you have an action plan. I bet you'd feel alot worse if your mw had fobbed you off yesterday. Just keep hoping for that home birth - like you say, you have a good chance of still getting it.

sweetheart · 11/11/2005 09:56

Thanks for all the messages by the way - I'm soooooo excited.

george32 · 11/11/2005 10:09

Have a great day SH
DQ, all sounds a bit scary but I'm so glad that your visit to the m/w was worth it - at least you get some positive actions. Fingers crossed for a turning baby so you can have your home birth. Now on all fours, bum in the air!!
Ninah, here is the link to the argos ball . It is supposed to be as good as a proper birthing ball.

Off to make another set of drawers today for the nursery & get some more bits in place. Bit of a disaster with the cot yesterday. DP packed it away carefully 7 years ago with instructions etc but managed to miss out 3 pieces (screw type bits). He is going to hunt round his mums loft for them but if he can't find them we are going to have to buy a new one - how annoying is that.

sweetheart · 11/11/2005 10:11

george, can you not go to B&Q or somewhere and get replacement screws?

OP posts:
george32 · 11/11/2005 10:16

No, there is a plastic bit plus a really weird shaped piece along with a long screw. All a bit specific to the cot and as that was made 14 years ago we are unlikely to find.
Just can't believe he carefully packed it away with bits missing - duh!!!

sweetheart · 11/11/2005 10:26

we had a similar problem - it's so frustrating isn't it. Could you try the manufacturer - or is there an independant baby shop near you which might stock parts like this?

OP posts:
ninah · 11/11/2005 10:38

sh you still here?! Hope you have a lovely day!
what a nuisance re cot george. I put all our bits in a plastic bag together, now all I have to do is FIND it we may be in same boat ...
Why not start a thread on here to see if anyone can help?

Jaysfirst · 11/11/2005 10:40

good morning all, havent been around as i have been sooooooo tired, to tired to even think about doing anything let alone what to write, i seem to have lost the will to even walk, backs sore, SPD is agony, knees are even stasrting to give me jip..... so if you forgive me i havent had chance to catch up on everyones posts.
I did get that is is SH's last day today isnt it, go girl enjoy it all and totally rub it in that you will no longet have t to the work trudge!! George you sound like handy andy, make sure you go easy with all this buliding of nursery furniture malarky!
And yes minnie i did put the cheese into the microwave... and a cpl of days ago the cat food ( which was in his bowl ready to give him) i found in the cupboard with my plates.........i cant get roound this at all, i am so normally in control of things its so annoying!
DQ at least you now know what the plan of action is, its alwasy better to know what might happen rather than not knowong anything at all. I realise it gives you tme to worry but at the same time it also gives you time to prepare, you will be find chick, fingers crossed for you!
So what else is everyone up to today? i have osteopaths this afternoon and then i think i am going to brave goig to the pictures, DH came home last night and said he was going to take me out tonight for something to eat and the pics, might go and see the new Harry Potter...

sweetheart · 11/11/2005 10:40

Yes, still here - if past functions are anything to go by (because they STILL won't tell me where we're going) a taxi will arrive about 12 ish to pick us up.

My boss asked how I was feeling this morning - I said I was tired as I hadn't slept well what with the nerves, excitement etc etc. He asked if I wanted to go home for a snooze until 12.

hee hee

ninah · 11/11/2005 10:53

George i have been off since about then also, and my mat leave wasnt and wont start till the 25th Novemeber, feels like i havent worked in yonks! its great!!

Sid · 11/11/2005 13:36

Dramaqueen, your situation sounds very similar to mine (also on no.4 and hoping for a homebirth) - had my 37 week check today (due 1 Dec)and midwife couldn't tell whether baby is breech or not. I'm booked in for a scan this coming Tuesday, when there is a senior registrar there who does baby turning. My midwife did not give me any of the spiel about monitoring for an hour, emergency section etc...I think I would rather not know - I can't believe that with the 4th I could have these issues. Apparently with a 4th, your abdominal muscles don't exist anymore, so there is much more room for the baby to turn until much later in the pregnancy - I don't know whether that's a comfort or not, as I suppose it could keep turning until the last moment. It just makes the whole home birth thing a bit dicier. Anyway, will let you know, dq - I'm sure we'll both be in that 98%!

babygibbon · 11/11/2005 13:59

DQ and Sid - I'd like to join the 98% please! I saw the midwife this morning, baby definitely breech, and the plan of action (and timing) is very similar to you, DQ, since we're both due on Christmas day...

I have my next midwife appt in 1 and a half weeks. If the baby is still breech, then she will book me in for a scan that week, and an ECV which they'll do at 36 weeks rather than 37 as as well as being breech, I've been told the baby is enormous (measuring 36 weeks already, even though I'm only 34). As with you DQ, I have to bring my labour bag for the ECV.

So the options seem to be:

  1. Baby turns by itself and I wait for natural onstart to labour (fingers crossed)
  2. Scan reveals baby breech, but not in a position to ECV, ceasar booked for mid Dec
  3. Scan reveales baby breech, but in a position to try ECV, in which case it will either turn (no c-section hopefully!) or it won't (which means mid dec c-section)
  4. ECV brings on early labour / distress which means the baby'll be born by c-section in only 2 and a half weeks - that frightened DH, I can tell you!

So it's on all fours for me for the next week and a half.

Shame the baby's so big, as a smaller baby is much more likely to do sumersaults in there and turn round!

Hope you had a lovely anniversary DQ, I had a relaxing birthday, but fell asleep on sofa by 9pm...

ei23mummy · 11/11/2005 14:33

quick message to sh - POST on here over the weekend want to know all the details! At dad's so MAY have internet access!
have a good weekend everyone, hope you feel better ei and bonkerz.
Oh, - and see you next Thursday!

george32 · 11/11/2005 18:43

Hi all,
Um, er, when I say making Ninah I mean from flatpack not from a tree - definitely not that adventurous (although am hankering to have a trade so maybe carpentry is the one for me!).
Had to bring everything to a halt earlier as my body refused to let me do any more, think I might have been overdoing it slightly. I just want to get everything done, I'm so excited.

Hi Sid, nice to see you back here. Sorry you, and you BabyGibbon, are having the same breech problems as DQ.

SH, I hope you have been thoroughly spoiled all day, can't wait to find out where they took you.

Can't believe we are at the weekend again, time is just racing past. And it's the meet up next week, thought that was ages away still - does that mean I have to iron some clothes to wear and make myself look presentable??

sweetheart · 11/11/2005 19:54

HELLO

Well, I have been totally spoilt rotten by work this afternoon. They took me here for lunch which is one of my fav places. The food was brilliant and they had decorated the table with balloons and stuff (which dd stole as soon as I got home). I got some lovely gifts for the baby including clothes, a blanket, toy, bibs, vests etc etc etc They also brough me some vouchers to add to my trip to The Sanctuary in Feb so I can and have a day full of pampering now.
We left the hotel around 5pm after we had played a few games of snooker - it's so uch fun when everyone's had a few drinks - especially as I could hardly reach some of the balls with my tummy in the way.

All in all it's been a fab afternoon and I can't believe I'm not a stay at home mum - very surreal. I don't think it will sink in until Monday when I don't haveto go into the office

I hope everyone else is well. BG, Sid it's great to see you back on.

Sweetheart, so glad you had a lovely afternoon!
Time will fly by now so make the most of the time you have at home! I still have to paint DS bedroom so will make an effort to get the paint tomorrow in town!
