OK, well we've needed a new thread for ages so I've taken it upon myself to start it.

Good luck ladies - we are nearly down to the last month

35 + 2 or should I say "T minus 4wks 5 days"!

scully · 09/11/2005 13:10

EI, maybe she's pregnant, she sounds more hormonal than us right now!
Tell her she needs to pull herself towards herself - you bought him a present, just hadn't gotten around to giving it to him. People have lives and things going on and sometimes things get delayed. There are bigger things in life to get stressed over.....
SH, don't worry about your revision just yet, like Ninah said, at least you still have time left to figure out what's going wrong. Rather you than me though
Think we have found a maternity replacement for me, just getting the go ahead from everyone to let HR make the offer.

babygibbon · 09/11/2005 13:31

Scully - congrats on finding a replacement, that must be a weight off your mind as well as your workload!

Ei, she's being totally unreasonable. I'm always late with everyones cards / pressies and am of the opinion that firstly, they should never take my pressies for granted (I don't take theirs for granted, so am always grateful to receive) and secondly, a late pressie means a nice surprise and for little 'uns, spreads out their birthday a bit. Why would you want to open all your pressies on one day anyway? (I'm getting worked up now so its no wonder you are!)

Ninah - I sat an exam in July and one in late October. The revision for the Oct exam was much more of a struggle - I found it really difficult to focus and to retain info, and I can only imagine it would be worse now. That said, the grades were pretty similar - so don't panic just yet! You are putting a lot of effort in and I'm sure that will be reflected in the result (fingers crossed). Good luck.

I was just looking at the stats thread, do you realise the last update was nearly 7 months ago! How time has flown...I really can't believe it.

I'm having preg brain and can't calculate where I am in this pregnancy - can anyone else due on 25th December tell me where I am? I think it's between 33 and 34 weeks, but I've just got an email through saying it's 35...

babygibbon · 09/11/2005 13:34

Doh sorry Ninah, the exam message was for Sweetheart. Pregnancy brain strikes again!

Am very worried that I've signed up to work 3 days a week from next week untl 5th Dec. It's only 10 days, but I'm just getting used to this maternity leave lark! I know it's the right thing to do (its a scheme where I'm paid by the government to go into a school and observe for 10 days to see if I want to become a teacher) because it'll help make up my mind about my future career, but I wish I didn't have to do it now!

ei23mummy · 09/11/2005 13:36

i tried to tell her but she jus said i obviously dont care about her kids and im a crap frind for not trying repeatedly to get hold of her! she sed that even tho she knows i havent got any money that she isnt exactly rolling in it either and i should buy things for her kids to show that i care!! this coming from someone who has recently on the spare of the moment paid £650 for a dog! she already had a dog but she wanted another one! so if shes not rollin in it then i dont know what she thinks i spend my £ on!!

ei23mummy · 09/11/2005 13:39

whoops sorry itchy posting finger!!

Jaysfirst · 09/11/2005 13:59

afternoon all...my what a morning you lot have had, its fair busy!

I have had my boss on the phone for the past half hour, sking how thing were going, she is being really nice about the whole pregnancy, mind you i thikn nowadays employers have to be or its deemed as discrimination...

I am in the strange position where by i am employed but at he same time am a full time student....wont bore you with details, but i had to take the decision to stop my studies and out it all on hod while i am on maternity, it works out well apart from the fact the last essay i wrote i failed i blame the pregnancy of course, but anyway, so SH hats off to you and your studies theres no way i could cope!

EI sounds like your friend might be feeling left out... i know i know that its not you fault and she really should be more understanding but sometimes i find myself becoming totally absorbed in my pregnancy. Now i am by no means saying what she has done is justified, i think its totally out of order, but i do try and see things from everyones point of view ( i am very diplomatic) maybe shes feeling like shes losing you as a friend and that you not getting a pressie for her child ( even though you had) was the icing on the cake for your friendship...in here eyes of course....i bet she will calm down and apologise before long, she has prob forgotton how it is being preggers. Try not to stress over it, 'nothing stays the same for very long' so my Grandma says, things will look different in the morning, and sometimes holding a grudge against someone uses so much negativity its draining. Try if you can to put it to the back of your mind, and rant on here as much as you need to... its a great stress relief! {{{hugs}}}

BG i am due on the 31 Dec and am 33 weeks on Fri, does this help you at all? have to admit i tend to forget what week i am on, if it wasnt for Pampers updates then i would think i had ages to go!

looking forward to the meet next week, it is next week isnt it, i have to work out my route yet and see how log its going to take me, will be cool to meet everyone!

Jaysfirst · 09/11/2005 14:00
  • put it all on hold..............grrrrrrrrr
ei23mummy · 09/11/2005 14:31

we have decided that its best not to be in contact with eachother for a while as she doesnt think that i am a good friend anyway and the way im feeling im likely to say something out of order to her in a fit of anger so its best that we let ourselves cool off for a while so thats what were goin to do.
thanks everyone for your comments i really appreciate the advice so i dont know what i would do without it!!
jays, what is it that you are studying as im doin the same type of thing full time work/ full time study and im a student nurse.
s/h sorry you are havin a bit of bother with your revision hun. i always find makin little note cards helps me. jus write specific trigger words thats how i remember things best! good luck hun xx
how is everyone else??

Jaysfirst · 09/11/2005 14:43

bloody hell thats quite drastic measures re you friend EI, but i guess you know best and if its going to reduce the stress it might otherwise cause then perhaps having a 'break' from each other is the bes thing!

I am a Trainee Probation officer... normally i work in London Wed - Friday ( on the job training with offenders) and Mon /Tuesday i study ( degree in Criminal Justice )from home, known as E-learning. I have done a year and was just starting the second and final year when i was signed off with SPD...so have decided that i will restart my second year when i decide to go beck to work ( if i decide to go back) lots to think about for now....

Right do i go to the shops to get chocolate or do i make do with the fruit thats been sat on the table looking at me for the past few days.....??

ei23mummy · 09/11/2005 15:07

i say go for some choccie medicinal of course (for your spd!!)

sweetheart · 09/11/2005 15:15

Ei, sounds like this woman isn't worth your friendship and I think you've done very well to resist the urge to say something rude to her. Even if you have been wrapped up in your pregnancy how selfish is it of her to assume you have nothing better to do than shop for her son and visit him.

You know that you tried your best to get hold of her and if she cannot accept that then she sounds like a totally self absorbed person to me - and someone who is not worth the effort. After all people who are that selfish ALWAYS expect you to give more to a friendship than they are prepared to.

I wish I could do flash cards for my revision. The trouble is that I'm studying accounts so there isn't really much written stuff I need to remember - it's all figures. And there is no set formula really to learn - every set of accounts is different so I have to learn lots of techniques. I've already sat this exam once and failed so I really need to pass it this time as it's the last module I have to pass to complete my course. My normal revision tactic is to cram the day or two before the exam but I can't do that this time round as I'm due 2 days before the exam and I just might not have time to pick up a book the day before it.

Anyway, I've just been out for lunch with my boss and had a glass of wine to put everything in a more rosy light!

oh and yes, the meetup is one week tomorrow

OP posts:
sweetheart · 09/11/2005 16:47

Quick question - how much alcohol do you think it is acceptable to have in one day?

It is my leaving do on Friday (incase I hadn't mentioned it before ) we will be having a meal (although I still don't know where) and have been wondering how many glasses of wine would be OK.

I'm not planning on getting legless by the way but I would like to have a couple of drinks seeing as I've had hardly anything for the past 8.5 months!!!!

OP posts:
ninah · 09/11/2005 16:49

my standards are rather lax sh .... mind you a couple of glasses and you'll prob be legless after all these months of abstinence!

ninah · 09/11/2005 16:54

hope it's somewhere really lush .... can't wait to find out!

Jaysfirst · 09/11/2005 18:27

hmmmm SH i havent drank much at all, the odd glass of wine or pint of cider...( i remember the days of bottles of wine and pints of cider) but on my wedding day i had a bottle of rose champagne to myself... over a period of about 5 hours mind you!! I am sure that two or three med size glasses of wine will be fine, thats if you can mange that much, tends to give me bad heartburn now....maybe have wine spritzers?

Have done some crissie shopping this afternoon, even wrapped four pressies! i have never been this organised in my life... am sure it wont last!

Twiga · 09/11/2005 19:48

Sorry to crash, just wanted to say hi to Minnie1! Hope your feeling a bit better this evening - thanks for your message on dd's birth announcment thread, haven't been around much recently as wee one keeping me busy. Not long now til you've got your wee bundle to cuddle! Must catch up a bit better soon, if ok will try to CAT you as am slightly better at checking email than on here just now.

Have 5 mins to self as dd still in bed, anyone about?

george32 · 10/11/2005 09:04

Morning everyone.
Ebbie, glad you enjoyed your weekend away. You sound a bit brighter so it must have done you some good

SH, I'm steering clear of all alcohol until breast feeding is well underway. I think I find it easier to go without completely than have a little bit here & there. I ended up with a glass of water at my leaving lunch!!

Lovely new carpet is in & looks amazing (sorry if I sound obsessed, we have lived with a foul blue thing for 2 years!! ).
Going to start putting things in the nursery today - how real does that make things!

Wonder how flutter is getting on. What day were they going to induce her? I'll have a check back through the messages. Hope she is OK.

george32 · 10/11/2005 09:07

Found it; Flutter has an appointment today, one on Sunday then induced next Tuesday if nothing happening naturally by then.
Good luck today Flutter

ThomCat · 10/11/2005 09:11

Well I just phoned into work to say I can't go in today.
D had a work's night out and woke me at 1.30 (I went to bed at 11), then Lottie woke up at 5.30 and then coughed so much she was sick over me. And then on top there's the usual tossing and turning, princess & the pea stylee, baby lying on bladder so it never feels empty or comfortable etc, etc etc!
I've just had enough and need some undisturbed sleep.
D told me not to go in or I would have done, but someone else telling you, 'Stay here today, get some rest', well that's what I needed and am taking him up on his advice.
So... off to drop Lottie at nursery and then I'm getting back under that duvet.

george32 · 10/11/2005 09:24

Well done TC, sounds like you need a bit of a sleepy day to catch up.
I don't know how you girls at work still are managing, you must have so much more stamina than me.

sweetheart · 10/11/2005 09:27

TC - good for you taking a day off to relax - how much longer have you got at work?

George, I actually think that being off work will be much harder than being at work. At the moment I'm sitting at a desk doing nothing for 8 hours. Next week it will be spring clean city - I've got so much I want to do at home, I think I'm going to be exhausted!

Just think - this time next week some of us will be getting ready to meet up! I think thats really odd (in a good way)

Flutter - hope your appt goes well today.
