OK, well we've needed a new thread for ages so I've taken it upon myself to start it.

Good luck ladies - we are nearly down to the last month

35 + 2 or should I say "T minus 4wks 5 days"!

Morning all, bit grey and miserable here today, weather wise and mood wise DH has gone away to Holland again till the end of the week with work, hes away most weeks now till middle of December, and its horrid Still i guess its not so bad as him not wanting to go out with me, poor you Scully, it really isnt nice when they seem not to care or be bothered, its not even that he wont go with you to the show, its about him not realising how it is making you feel. I think thats their problem more than anything, they just dont/cant think....hopefuly he might have time to reflect today, you go home at lunch time, and tell him how his behaviour is making you feel, maybe write it down so that you can get it al out with out him butting in...am usre he will come round eventully! ;)
Goodness about Flutter! really brings it home doesnt it...scarey mary!!!! I also have been having strange movements and pains, pulling and ushing about, feel like shes making a real 'mess' in there!!
DQ the nursery sounds great, very imaginitive, so what what others think, its nothing to do with them, people are just a bit insensitive sometimes thats all. I havent been that creative as we are only going to be here for the next 6-9 months before moving, so we have quite neutral colours, its lovely and peaceful, and we have things on the walls to brighten it up, but we figured that when we come to seel we wont have to do anything re decorating !! I will CAT you my address it woould be nice to have others, i like the idea of card sending, cards are such a thoughtful thing! I to am going to write some christmas cards today, spent a small fortune on Sat buying them all, but its worth it!

george32 · 08/11/2005 11:45

Jay, how awful to have your DH away most weeks. Can he get back quickly if need be?

Have measured for TP Tuesday and am back down to 8½ sheets.
Am eating lots now to try to help increase it!

Scared myself yesterday as I found some pictures of stretch marks on one of the p/g sites. OMG they look quite scary. I know they are probably extreme photos but I'm doubling the amount of cream I'm smearing on myself now!!

scully · 08/11/2005 11:52

been interviewing for my replacement this morning, so in the mood for that, especially since being awake since 4am! just a big grrr about everything today I think.
sh, my tummy has also been like that the last few weeks, either one extreme or the other. I thought the iron tablets were causing it so have stopped them after a bad episode last week. could well be the pressure thing tc mentioned though as well.
Xmas cards, have some left over from last year still sitting on my desk, might start those at work one afternoon I think.....
george, proper sleep? that's gone for a while now

MINNIE1 · 08/11/2005 11:53

dramaqueen72

Scully
Hugs hun... You should drag him by the ear!!! and tell him to record the rugby.. Your pregnant and need lots of TLC.. But men will be men mine would do the same thing if he was around!!

sweetheart · 08/11/2005 11:56

george Thank you for the countdown, it was very thoughtfull of you!

I would say, seeing as Friday will be a right off - I have 2.5 official days left

sweetheart · 08/11/2005 11:58

Minnie PMSL!!!! That is exactly what I do, the cards usually get posted the year after they were written. I gave up a couple of years ago so we don't really do cards now!

OP posts:
dramaqueen72 · 08/11/2005 12:06

minnie no I will post them. dh will be under orders to bring home stamps from work (hes the director btw so he is allowed!, its called 'directors wife perks'.LOL)and will post them around start of dec. we send family and close friends photo cards (just the children's photo, god I'd be scary on your mantlepiece!!)so they arrived back, something else I designed sat on computer at 1am. prob quite a good thing not sleeping, at least i am getting stuff done!!! dh was laughing at the order confirmation in with the photos its says ordered at 1.28am.........
made appointment with midwife. abit nervous she will be rude I'm there but hey, she is meant to be looking after me right?
must be the morning for wriggly babies, this one is doing weird rolling pushing movements and i am getting lots of braxton hicks today. -it cant come before the start of dec tho as its name is not on the christmas cards I'm writing.....
off to make brazil nut shortbread now, and maybe some cupcakes..........

Jaysfirst · 08/11/2005 12:28

Minnie, shall i pop over then!!!

DH went this morning at 4.30.....didnt get back to sleep afterwards so starting to get a bit sleepy now, ho bad...e has called me to make sure i am ok, and the work hes doing is such that he can leave and get the next flight back should anything happen, so is not to bad...plus i get lots of duty free goodies....not that same as having him here tho

Have all the provisions to make mince pies, so am going to try and make pastry this afternoon....i have hot hands and am told this isnt a good thing!Still will give it a whirl....

Have to tell you about my scatty brain...i have no recolection of doing this but i mustve becasue i was the only one here... DH went to the microwave last night to warm someting, and found the cheese in there al wrapped up in cingfilm...then i couldnt find the butter and i had put it in the bread bin... what a numpty i am ....hehehehehe

eeeek @ stretch marks......i have been smothering myself in cream but am resigned to the fact that it wont make any difference, if i get them then i get them, but i know what you mean George some of the pics you see do look awful, it must be so crap for the woman who has them, but you know what, who cares really, i mean they fade dont they...and they are cover-up-able!

MINNIE1 · 08/11/2005 12:44

Jays
I'll get nice chocs in for the tea..
Like you i look forward to the duty free.. Always get perfume so cant wait to see what he gets me.. He felt bad for leaving me for so long being PG and all so it could be a real nice one...

DQ
I like the photo idea for xmas cards.. I would like to do that next year.. Me and my family!! o i like saying that..

scully · 08/11/2005 12:59

I don't think creams do much for them tbh, I think they are genetic, so if your mum had them, there's a chance you will. Mine didn't and I have none from last time and none so far this time - still time though.....
sorry for you jay and minnie, that your dp's aren't around - could quite happily ship mine somewhere though right now

ninah · 08/11/2005 13:01

yup, and NOT to Twickers!
I have stretch marks, they don't have to look awful, I don't mind them

Jaysfirst · 08/11/2005 13:10

have to admit that i have stretch marks on my tummy from when i was a teenager, one day none the next day my hormones took over and i sprouted... seems i grew too quickly for my body! Still they have faded a lot and arent that noticable now....i thik i will prob acquire some new ones before this baby is born!

I have to pinch myself when i say 'family' it sounds so grown up and .....well dult like. When i think back to this time last year and what i was dong, i am like a whole different person now, its a bit scarey but very exciting!

Couple of questions,
1)when is the best time to get nursing bras? i have gone up nearly two cup sizes already ( which i am told is normal) but that i could go up more when baby is born ( or sometime before) so when do you get them?
2)Does anyone get really sore knuckles n the mornings? When i wake up my fingers are a bit swollen and all my knuckle joints are really stiff, i can only imagine its like arthritus, but never had it before. I cant wear any rings now and my watch is tight. The soreness wears off throughout the day but i can still tell its there, just thought id ask??

ninah · 08/11/2005 13:24

tight knuckles sounds like water retention?
Nursing bras, I'd leave it til after and manage with old bras in hosp, just pull strap off shoulder, I think that's what I did. Your boobs change immensely when milk comes in.

dramaqueen72 · 08/11/2005 13:45

jays, most places wont fit you for you nursing bra til at least 37wks. i tend to go in and get two then (one black one white) dont spend a fortune tho as breasts full of milk will go up and down so much, esp if you bf awhile.....
other question- your body has -technical term here- 'diluted' its blood and increased it at this stage of pg so you will 'pool' in many areas when you have been lying down/sitting down/standing up in one position for awhile. hence everso slightly puffy/tight fingers, or knees, or ankles...as you move about it gets alittle better. and yes the 'cure' is giving birth! like EVERYTHING these days!!!!!
good luck with your mince pies. very festive.
I have now got a fabulous smelling house........made choc orange flapjack (must eat more oats -helps iron) lemon and oat muffins (dito oats), and brazil nut shortbread (nuts good for iron too). its all looks heavenly, and smells great. make eat alot of it before children come home and theres NONE!

I have worlds worst stretch makrs btw, used to really bother me, but now they dont much. they stretched with my first baby across the sides of my belly, BIG blue and red ones. they fade somewhat, but hey I'm not bikini shaped anyhow because i was (WAS!) so tiny and carried him so big. you 'tear' from the inside so creams can only do so much guys....... mine were so bad, the dr at my 25wk or thereabouts appointment called his medical students into see them I just died. now i look back and chuckle, (and think what a tactless tosser the dr was). dh says mine are medals of motherhood.

Nemo1977 · 08/11/2005 13:46

hi all
just a quickie as i am currently trying to entertain adam so am blowing a whistle while he bangs a drum..multi skilled.[grin Went to consultant and have been given 15th dec at 7.30am as a induction date...could have picked from the 8th but we wanted a date when dh could then be off work for xmas and new year...woo hoo Also now have to have the glucose tolerance test a week on thurs which seems a bit stupid as i will be nearly 36 wks then..mmm then back to hospital on 22nd nov to see consultant then next time i am back there is to be induced/be in labour. Seems a bit scarey to have a proper date..lol They also still think baby is breech but no one seems particularly bothered by that so hey im not stressing either.

hope everyone is ok????????? My dh is currently glossing downstairs hence me being in adams bedroom half on laptop half blowing a whistle..lol

Nemo1977 · 08/11/2005 13:47

meant ot ad on stretch mark front with adam i didnt get any until 38wks where i then looked like i had been attacked by a tiger..pmsl This time they have shown but are still silvery before the lovely redness kicks in..deightful!!!

ninah · 08/11/2005 13:48

God it sounds noisy at your house nemo! glad I'm here lol

ThomCat · 08/11/2005 14:03

Lots of sympathies with those that are tired. Lottie came in to me at 3am, all chirpy and lovley. Put her back to bed a few times and she eventually stayed there! Then she was back in to see us at 6.15. I dozed between 3am and 6am but D was snoring and I started thinking about rubbish unimportant stuff etc.

I was sick yesterday morning and this morning. Yesterday as I bent to pick up the bathmat my cup of tea reamerged without warning, so it wasn't really being sick. Then this morning I felt sick after my crunchy nut cornflakes and cup of coffee and managed to throw it all back up 20 minutes later.

No stretch marks though so.......

Dramaqueen - yum, that all sounds DIVINE.
Ohhh could really, really do with a little bit of all of that right now

flutterbee · 08/11/2005 14:11

Afternoon Ladies, feeling very tired today sleeping was impossible last night. The Dr warned me I would be more uncomfortable because the baby is no longer floating just dragging around my tummy but this is just ridiculous Nevermind a week will go by in the blink of an eye.

Waiting for the crib to be delivered from M-care at the moment looking forward to putting it up and getting all sorted. The phone doesn't seem to stop ringing with people wanting to check how I am, it seems really strange as my Mum has had 7 and never makes a fuss over being pg because it's natural not an illness but even she has been on the phone checking and telling me what they have all been discussing, it's a really nice feeling actually.

Sounds like evryone is pulling it all together for there own D days which is good and I really feel for those of you with DH/P's away it's bad enough for me when my DH goes to work for the day !!!!

34+2

george32 · 08/11/2005 14:19

Oooh DQ, please can I have some??? Choc & orange flapjack sounds so yum

Just realised how silly (& lucky) it is that the most important thing I'm stressing about today is stretch marks . I mean surely one advantage of not having a baby til my 30's is that no-one has or is likely to see my tummy (aside from DP) for years now. Think I was just shocked by the pictures, I was thinking small silvery lines not great claw marks

Nemo, I'm glad you have a date set for your induction. It must be easier to plan things knowing when you go in (although it could still be early!!)

Sorry you were sick TC, you must be running out of space for food / drink. Medicinal choccy for you

ninah · 08/11/2005 14:19

ah flutterbee hang in there! glad everyone's being supportive

ninah · 08/11/2005 14:22

mine ARE silvery lines george, don't know what you saw.
Read one Japanese story where man is having affair with stretch mark woman and likens them to the warp and weave of raw silk or words to that effect
Nemo how can I have read your post and missed the DATE! 15th Dec! wow!

george32 · 08/11/2005 14:27

Ninah, this one here

Can I be re-assured that this isn't the norm then?

Nemo1977 · 08/11/2005 14:29

pmsl george not the norm. there is a picture on here somewhere of me at 42wks with adam so will dig it out and see if you can see my stretch marks..

george32 · 08/11/2005 14:32

Phew!!
I know I'm being silly but I was quite scared.
