OK, well we've needed a new thread for ages so I've taken it upon myself to start it.

Good luck ladies - we are nearly down to the last month

35 + 2 or should I say "T minus 4wks 5 days"!

george32 · 07/11/2005 14:19

Hurray!! Well done Bonkerz on your lazy day. Now keep it up, it doesn't count if you start doing things this afternoon.

Scully, should I not paint the ceiling??? It's not a very big ceiling and I can't put my lovely new lampshade up til I've painted it. He he he, think DP is going to glue me to the sofa soon to stop me "doing things" .

I'm glad it's not just me that struggles to find things to eat in restaurants. Last time we went out for lunch there was only a sandwich I fancied and when it came I couldn't eat it as it was made with margerine (big no, no at the moment!). Now puddings are a different matter!!

sweetheart · 07/11/2005 14:29

george No lady you should not be painting ceilings in your current state - get your dh on the case!!!! Please promise not to do it!

I've just eaten way too much for my lunch! So much for trying to limit my weight gain in these last few weeks.

Well, my mat lady has just finished our last session together before my leave starts. She brough dh and I a bottle of champagne to wet the babies head with - I thought that was very sweet!

Bonkerz - your day sounds bliss full. I'll be trying some of that next week - although I would now be worrying about sleeping tonight if I'd been asleep all morning!

OP posts:
george32 · 07/11/2005 14:39

How lovely of your mat lady SH.

Have spoken to DP and he has made me promise not to do the ceiling - Grrrrr. I've promised not to do the main bit as long as I can do all the cutting in (he is rubbish at it) and only go 1 step up the ladder.

Why doesn't he insist that I can't do the cooking or cleaning? Why something I like doing?

MINNIE1 · 07/11/2005 14:45

george32
lol i would be rather happy painting then cleaning aswell.. Always the way..

Is anyone getting the BHicks?? Are they sore??

sweetheart · 07/11/2005 15:55

I've got pains today Minnie, not sure they are BH but they are very low down and sort of feel like I've got a stitch. I think it's just growing pains but they are very incomfortable!

OP posts:
MINNIE1 · 07/11/2005 16:20

Some say there painfull but what i am getting is the tightness and i know there happening but not uncomfi or painfull (speek to soon i bet).. Does anyone have pain with them??
Your stich could be a nerve the baby is on.

ninah · 07/11/2005 16:28

hello everyone
Good luck flutters, hope we hear from you soon
dq loved your hosp list will refer to it myself, never thought of taking food
You're all freaking me out with your frenzied paintings and preparations, I now realise just how lax I've been and should really have started leave earlier, oh well, babies can't see far for a while can they!

flutterbee · 07/11/2005 18:19

I'm back ladies and this time I have definate news.

I was scanned today and they have found that there is practically NO fluid left around buba !! I knew I wasn't over reacting or imagining it, they have also taken more blood to check for infections.

The Dr has decided that they want the little one to cook for a little longer and try to get me to 35 weeks so I have an appointment on Thursday and one on Sunday for checks on bubas heart and my temperature etc and then if I havn't popped naturally by next Tuesday then I am booked in for 9am at the delivery suite to be induced. I will then officially be 35+2.

I am totally petrified, my bags are packed just in case I go naturally but the next week is going to be the strangest ever. We have been told that because the membrains have totally gone it may be a very quick birth from when they induce me because the contractions will be really strong but they also warned that if my cervix isn't ripe enough they may end up having to do a c-section as they can't risk too many attempts at induction due to the high risk of infection.

After the hospital today DH and I went shopping and have managed to get most things we need I have probably forgotten something but I will order over the internet this week if I have.

I will probably be on here a lot over the next week just to stop me going mad and come this time next week you will probably all be witnessing the eventual total nervous wreck I am bound to become .........unless I pop naturally of course.

Not long for anyone now, hope you are all keeping fit and well, say hello to all the little bubas out there.

george32 · 07/11/2005 18:26

OMG Flutter!!!
You will be a mummy by next week at the latest. How exciting and scary for you.

LOL at you still shopping!!! Get home, lie down, take it easy - you've got a baby on the way!!

sweetheart · 07/11/2005 18:34

Flutter - Such fantastic news sweetie. I'm really pleased to hear that the hospital have given you some definate info and that your baby is doing well.

Keep us posted on how your doing. Have the Dr's told you what the chances are of you going into natural labour? Are they higher now your waters have gone?

Good luck, it's all sooooo exciting!

OP posts:
dramaqueen72 · 07/11/2005 19:33

wishing you good luck flutter! yes sounds like next week will be a little crazy! keep your feet up and try to get to 35wks

babygibbon · 07/11/2005 19:58

Wow! I can't believe that the first Dec baby will be born next week - good luck flutter.

And good luck SH with your last week at work.

I had such a lovely first day on maternity leave. DD was in nursery all day (we're reducing her hours but not yet), and DH was on a late shift, meaning he didn't have to be at work until 2pm. After dropping DD at nursery I went back to bed and DH and I had our first lazy morning for 18 months, it was lovely. Mmmmmm.

Then I had to get up and paint the nursery for 4 hours...can't win 'em all

It's my birthday on Thursday, and DH has to work late, so I'm all on my own in the evening. DD will go to bed at around 7pm - any ideas of ways in which I can spoil myself, I feel the need to be indulgent...

nearly 34 wks

MINNIE1 · 07/11/2005 20:00

flutter...

Can you not try and keep your legs crossed (i plan on doing this) LOL

O hun all the very best.. Your going to be a mammy (yahooo) next week, and the first dec lady to go. Its getting exciting now, to think this is it were well on our way..
Now sit down feet up and have some chocolate emmm there is nothing as nice..

MINNIE1 · 07/11/2005 20:05

babygibbon,
Your morning sounds like bliss. And well deserved!

Your could spoil yourself in having a bath with loads of bubbles, nice chocs, and a real soppy film. Or get a babysitter and go out with the girls to the cinema or a meal..

dramaqueen72 · 07/11/2005 22:46

Flutter, hope your sat down with feet up girl!

babygibbon, sounds like a good start to your leave re your birthday evening......if you cant get out what about online shopping for your favourite thing? I can spend blissful hours mooching around scrapbook and book sites.......esp if I'm buying too!
chocolates/chocolate cake a must, and that bubbly bath too. heap of fave magazines and feet up! I'm kinda envious now...........

seems alot of us are doing the nesting thing now I spent day putting up wooden shelf and peg rail in babys room, painting them and then adding toys on them(liked that bit best!) alos put up little low down coat hook for snowsuit/fleeces to hang on. and some clay 'smiley' sea creatures I made one sleepless night looks very sweet in there. but I ahve got to say......the beach/under the sea theme is very cute.but very blue!! its actually pale turquoise but it does seem very 'male', even WITH the mermaid beanie doll I found.......I hope its a boy in here or may have to do some serious building on the girlie mermaid theme there!! I must take pictures and -once jays told me all over again how the heck to do it and where-, post them somewhere for you guys to peek at. and vice versa please....
I'd love to swap new baby cards or something with you dec mummies too, I have some addresses already but hate to leave people out.......is there someway we can leave addresses on line thats 'secure' for just us dec ladies..........? or what?
I'm 33wks and 1day today. and feeling huge!!
TP tuesday tomorrow............

scully · 08/11/2005 10:18

wow fb, hope you manage to relax a bit for the next week. I'm sure you've got the basics, and what you haven't got, dh can pop out for if you really need it, afterwards. Good they finally did a scan & now believe you, pity it took them so long
Well, my turn to vent - dh tells me this morning that he doesn't really want to do anything on Saturdays in Nov because there's rugby on. This is after agreeing to see a matinee West End show (for my b'day/xmas present), & after we went to see sheryl crow on Friday for his b'day/xmas. & after I have lined up a friend to babysit dd, who has invited us to stay for dinner afterwards. Cross doesn't come close to how I feel right now. Doesn't enter his head to flippin check on the net who is playing when and which games he might like to watch, before I start organsing anything. So this morning he said to book it but he won't enjoy it so I hung up on him. But as I'm sitting at my desk having this conversation I can hardly burst into tears here, so disappeared off to the ladies to have a good cry. This, after I put up with his part-time study from Jan-June & the stress it brings, then watch as nothing gets done around the house during June/July/August, the best months weather-wise to do diy. Then put up with his friend over from the US keeping me awake with their drunken evenings in Sep/Oct & now him being unemployed since beg of Oct and dragging his feet with that, & he can't see one show with me, before we're unable to for at least 6mths after the baby arrives. He's rung back 3 times this morning but I haven't answered his calls, too furious and upset right now.
Just had a cup of tea so feeling marginally better but still could just burst into tears at any moment. Very tempted to just leave work at lunchtime today.......
Hope everyone else is feeling good, though

ninah · 08/11/2005 10:19

dq your nursery sounds lovely and the sea is unisex iyswim
I was longing to buy pink frilly stuff for a girl but in all honesty on closer examination some of it is VILE!

ninah · 08/11/2005 10:21

your dh has the same disease as my p scully
Oh, I'll be at the rugby for the next five or six Saturdays, he casually throws into the conversation
I tend to shrug and do my own thing these days. I bloody hate the game! it seems to go on all winter
Oh yes - take care flutters! stay around!

sweetheart · 08/11/2005 10:43

oh scully - hugs to you sweetie and a big smelly fart to your dh for being so selfish!

I think you should take the afternoon off work and treat yourself to something nice. Perhaps you could go for a manicure or to get your hair cut. Something to keep you out of the house until you are relaxed. Perhaps speaking to your dh whilst you are upset would be best - that way he can experience the full force of your rage/upset and relise what a bugger he's being!

Well, my tummy pains got worse last night - first I thought the baby was coming, then I thought I was going to be sick!
Anyway, after a bottom explosion (SORRY TMI) I felt lots better and managed to get off to sleep. I think I probably just ate too much yesterday - I really must cut down

DQ your nursery sounds lovely. I think it would be really nice to see some piccies - I'll have to try and post some of my nursery too.

As for cards. I think the safest way of exchanging information is to use the CAT thing here. Even if we found a secure place we'd have to put the pass word on here so anyone reading this thread could access it.
I'm sure those of us going to the meet up could exchange details - then anyone not at the meetup that would like the details can CAT someone with the full list. Does that make sense? I'm rambling now aren't I!!!!!!!

bonkerz · 08/11/2005 10:44

Hi all, its quiet on here today!! SO FAR!!!!

Nemo: hope all is well at the consultants and that you have a date for the induction!
FLUTTER: hope you have your feet up babe and a big box of choccies next to you!
DQ: love the sound of your nursery! Mines not co-ordinated or anything and im the only DIY person in my house so wall papering was about as crafty as i got!!
Scully: My DH is the same as yours! Tells me that he has alot of sport to watch on saturday! It obviously doesnt matter to him that he has worked for the past 3 saturdays and he hasnt spent any time with DS and DSD in weeks! PRIORITIES MEN!!!

Have been through the house again today and cleaned from top to bottom! Still have one cupboard to sort out but really have no energy at the moment. My body seems to have stopped working the last couple of days! Consultant at 3pm so get to see Alex again and need to talk about referral to physio and also something for my acid reflux which was agony yesterday and nothing is working anymore including gaviscon advance!!! Am scared to eat today incase it starts again!!

scully · 08/11/2005 10:57

yes I should talk to him whilst I'm still upset but that means me going downstairs with my mobile and I really can't be bothered.....
Very tempted just to book one ticket for me on that Sat and he can go get st**fed
your nursery theme sounds lovely dq, even if it is a girl I think it's nice to not have loads of pink/girly stuff from day one. my dd took a couple of years before she really got opinionated on colour preferences. hasn't affected her room though, it's lemon/lavender, as I can't stand pink

ThomCat · 08/11/2005 10:59

Morning girls

BabyGibbon, what a fab start, sounds loverlieeee!
And hope you have a wonderful, very indulgent, birthday.

Flutter, I was thinking of you this morning when I was in the bath! Mad isn't it
How wonderfully exciting. Not sure if you read it but I posted yesterday that my friend had her little boy 4 weeks early at the weekend, he was a very healthy and happy 5lb 11oz.

Scully, men aye! They can be so rubbish sometimes.

I had those stabbing pains last night, like there was a knitting needle being poked up inside me, more subtle than that but not nice all the same. And I was shattered. So as I stood up to attempt to get Lotties packed lunch ready d said 'dpn't be mad, stay sat down, let me do that'. Then he got up, rumaged around for 5 mins, turned to me and said 'what shall I give her?'. So I talked him through it! Ridiculous but funny.

I'm getting some bizarre movements now, really nice but actyually quite uncomfortable. It's flipping and twisting and God knows what. It's all up high so am hoping it's the legs and knees and feet and bum. Down below I get a pressure pain now and then so hope that's the head. Seeing midwife on Friday so will ask her to try and work out where he/she is lying.

Throughout this whole post I've had proper belly ripples and at the same time that low pressure pain, literally almost non stop. Must be him kicking his legs up and at the same time that's pushing his head down.

dramaqueen72 · 08/11/2005 11:05

morning ladies! yes scully, my dd2 has a red and white kinda 'new england patchwork' room i'm nto a pink fan really. dd1 has pale pink walls tho. its just everone walking in my nursery and going 'oh so you know its aboy then?' which is pissing me off!!!LOL
okay, i have several peoples addresses from secret stork, if anyone else wants to CAT me theirs please do,.then i can forward them to everyone else on the list and that way most of us can send cards/keep in touch/have an emergency contact etc. does that make sense/sound okay?
today i am writing christmas cards!!!! figured i would get them done and addressed early, then they just need mailing, no big hassle then.
s/h I have often the exact same tummy ache result in mad bathroom dash (tmi there!)by the end of the day. suspect its baby pressure across bowels etc at this stage.its not fun!! hope you feel fine now.

dramaqueen72 · 08/11/2005 11:07

oh Hi tc, crossed posts
scully, ffs -what IS it with men>?? cant he spare you ONE saturday????? oh they all need a slap sometimes.......
MAKE him go with you I think, use the I am sooooooooo pg card if you have too, but honestly he should go tot the concert thingy with you!

george32 · 08/11/2005 11:24

Scully, that is terrible. Have you got someone else you can go with? It's never the same if you know they aren't enjoying it too. Get him to give you the cash for a nice meal too and leave him in to do the babysitting!!

BGibbon, glad you had a good 1st day on mat leave. I think you should book a massage or pedicure/manicure for Thurs, then get a big box of Thorntons and a girlie film and have a lovely relaxing evening.

I really want to see your nursery DQ, it sounds lovely.

Terrible start to the day for me. Woke at about 4.00am and had to get up as I was so uncomfy. Managed to drop back off to sleep at about 7.00am on the sofa and only woke at 10.30!!
Soooooo tired - I want my proper sleep back!!

SH, only 3½ days to go..........
