Never- someone on an earlier august thread recommended bravado which you can get from John Lewis and I think nct shop, they come in small, med, large, beige and black. I've bought three and they are great. Very comfy and have those quick unclip bits so will do for breast feeding too!

dundeemarmalade · 05/04/2011 08:55

never anita do a wired maternity bra but it seems to fit best on people with "shallow" boobs, iyswim! I'm a 32FF/G normally and they just didn't work for me but everybody's different. Hotmilk are quite good for bigger sizes but don't always have smaller back sizes. FWIW if you find a good normal underwired bra (worth buying a really good bra like MarieJo or Prima Donna and paying a lot to get best fit) that fully encloses the soft breast tissue right round under the armpit there is no physiological need to wear soft bras unless you want to - good fit and adequate support are essential for your overall comfort and a badly fitting soft bra will be as bad as a badly fitting wired one.

Sorry for the lecture... am slightly obsessed with the difficulties of upholstering the maternal bosom.

FeralGirlCambs · 05/04/2011 09:07

Morning everyone. Just checking in after a few days - this thread has grown so quickly! Betty, sorry to hear of your bereavement. And Yukana and Firawla of your housing problems. No input to give on the bra thread I don''t think, as all mine still seem to fit fine so far...

Have my 25 week midwife appt (a week early as off on holiday afterwards) next Thursday. Does anyone know what happens at that one?

MonkeeMummy · 05/04/2011 09:57

OK I've left it a bit late but can I join you lovely Aug ladies. Our third is due is 16 Aug. Had our 20-week scan yesterday and everything looks good. We have 2DD's and asked what team we were on (never done that before) and sonographer thinks probably pink (yay) but our baby had her legs closed so could be blue (yay). Team blue or pink, she/he has a pink bedroom (too tired to redecorate) and I still have a couple of girlie sleeping bags Grin. Our girls are thrilled at the prospect of a sister, too.

KLou111 · 05/04/2011 12:17

Ferel, I've not got my appt til the 21st (24 weeks exactly :) ) and MW said she would be telling us all about AN classes etc, measuring bubba, wee sample. Not sure what else though.

Welcome and congrats Monkee!! You're quite welcome one here! Gad your scan went lovely, shame you're not 100% on sex, but glad you're happy either way :)

RugbyWidow7 · 05/04/2011 12:32

Hello everyone. Sorry to hear your news Betty and welcome Monkeymummy!

I've been feeling dreadful with a really bad cough for the last month. I thought there wasn't anything I could take so left it. Well yesterday it nearly made me sick (TMI sorry) so I went to the docs. At first he thought it was pregnancy induced asthma as I was so breathless etc. I was convinced it was a chest infection though and to my relief, there are antibiotics you can take whilst pregnant - hurrah! I feel so much better after only a few hours.

I haven't weighed myself either, and won't be doing so until way after giving birth. Far too depressing.

20 week appointment tomorrow - yay!

Firawla · 05/04/2011 13:28

welcome monkee :)

JenniL1977 · 05/04/2011 13:43

Hi everyone,

Betty so sorry about your grandma. Big hugs to you :(
Welcome monkee :)

20 wk scan yesterday... all good! Measuring exactly right for 20+5 on all measurements - except the length one where we're at 21+4 - but my family are giants so I'm not really surprised. What did surprise me is I'm on team pink! I clearly have no maternal instincts whatsoever. And I owe DH a tenner, as we had a bet on it. Dammit! But I'm really happy about it, took me about 10 minutes to think - actually, that's cool! - and DH's only question was "do girls like Star Wars lego?" I said yes, because I do! DH was a bit shocked to see the punching I was getting on the scan, and we could see her swallowing, and the bladder filling up, and everything. Pretty awesome all round.

I've put on 10lbs, but I'm as skinny as you like, so that's a whole load for me. Loving my bump though, although last night was the first time I felt uncomfortable in bed and kept waking up with a dead arm and hip. Thanks for the tip about Dunelm pillows, that's great, it's one of my fave shops anyway :)

Good luck for scans today Rugby and KT
TTFN :)

KTisPG · 05/04/2011 15:15

Just back from scan and all ok. Measuring around 20 weeks (seemed to have one leg measuring longer than the other Hmm) so that's ok given I'm 20+3 according to their dates and 19+3 according to mine Grin

Welcome Monkee

Hi everyone, good to hear about all the scans, it's a relief when they tell you everything is okay and you can start to enjoy the pregnancy more.
I have been feeling a lot of kicks recently, and even saw my belly moving up on each kick last night, very weird! Seems to be more active when lying on my back in bed just before going to sleep.
Bump seems to be getting bigger, it is starting to get in the way when trying to bend over and put shoes on! Not used to having a belly at all thanks to the skinny genes inherited from my dad and normally being very active.
I also wake up feeling uncomfortable occasionally, may have to invest in the v pillow, thanks for the tip :)

Good luck for all future scans, and welcome to Monkee

RugbyWidow7 · 05/04/2011 17:13

Just got back from a shopping trip to buy clothes for holiday next week. Bought everything in at least one size bigger than I usually wear and it seems to have worked, and hopefully I'll be able to wear them in the future (not just in pregnancy).

So excited about the scan tomorrow, but feeling slightly envious that people know the colour of theirs Smile. Even though we've made the decision not to find out and to have a suprise, I still want to know!! Esp as we're really struggling with girls names, so if we knew, we wouldn't have to worry about it! Must stay strong and not give in!

KLou111 · 05/04/2011 19:28

I so wanted to know to Rugby but DH put his foot down. Glad he did though cos it's another thing to look forward to, and will make the birth a bit more exciting Hmm

LifeOfKate · 05/04/2011 20:30

Rugby - I know exactly what you mean :) I don't actually want to know, but then sometimes I just wonder! I think it's because we have almost definitely picked a girls name but are really struggling with a boys, so it would be nice to know if we need to keep struggling or if I will get to have my favourite name :o

littlemissw · 05/04/2011 21:09

Welcome & congratulations on your pick bump MonkeeMummy! A hat trick - how lovely! :)

neverlookback Bravissimo seems to be very popular for larger bosoms. I've got a few of these underwired maternity/bf bra's & think they're fab. They also stock Anita & Hot Milk bras & have pretty good delivery times. Also, H&M apparently do some underwired maternity bras too.

Bettyboob Sorry to hear that you had such sad news. I hope you won't have to wait to long before you can say goodbye properly.

wishwales It's not really until the third trimester (28 weeks) when the kicks get stronger that you have to start being a bit more aware of how often/how much your baby kicks. This may explain it a bit more & put your mind at rest.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Rugbywidow & good luck for your scan tomorrow. stay strong - it will be the best surprise you ever have & its sooo lovely to hear your other half saying 'its a ...', rather than a stranger you've never met.

Loved your DH's 'chickens on the washing line' comment KLou Grin

With regards a V-shaped pillow between the knees to help you sleep better - I swear by it. It also comes in really handy when baby arrives for feeding plus when they are a little bigger they are great for propping them up when they can't sit yet.

I've started getting lots of Braxton Hicks now & it sometimes feels like the little pickle is just going to drop out he is so low in my pelvis (and on my bladder!). Its a struggle to bend over to put on my shoes/pick up everything the kids throw on the floor & my arms are already shrinking, so washing up is becoming a bit difficult ... not sure how I'm going to cope for a whole summer yet before he's cooked! Grin Luckily I've not had any dreadful nighttime leg cramps this time (...yet).

littlemissw · 05/04/2011 21:10

:) pink, not pick!

littlemisslozza · 05/04/2011 21:22

Oh no, I'd forgotten about the night-time leg cramps! Many a night I would leap out of bed hopping and cursing..... fingers crossed they stay away littlemissw!

sisterT · 05/04/2011 21:54

Thanks for the reminder about the cramps. They and heartburn were my only real moans last time, but moan I did - its only fair to share the pain at 3am Wink!!!!

Welcome monkeemummy.

Ive put on 8lbs so far but had a lot of extra padding to begin with. I'd just celebrated losing a stone before I got PG so am now watching it all pile on again whilst convincing myself that the odd daily extra slice of cake wont make the difference as its all baby..................... hey ho!!

MonkeeMummy · 05/04/2011 22:49

Thank you for the warm welcome. Congratulations on all the scans so far and good luck with all the future scans.

We only found out the sex to stop various family members hassling us. Surprises are definitely more fun... and we're already regretting asking.

Just tried on my bikini ready for our holiday in a few weeks' time. Top half looks fab but I have a very, very pregnant bottom...Do they still sell skirted swimsuits?

Oh well...I'm off to cuddle my 5ft-long pillow who doesn't care what I look like as long as I'm comfy. Although I am a little concerned that DH is a little jealous of all the attention he (the pillow) receives Grin.

Yukana · 05/04/2011 23:09

Welcome Monkeymummy. :)

Regarding cramps - especially leg ones - I found a life saver from mothercare. Seriously I would highly recommend buying the stuff. It's called lift me up leg and foot spray, and it's sold at mothercare for £3.99. I use it on my lower back sometimes too though. It's a cooling spray that you can use whenever, to help ease tired and aching legs and feet. I love the stuff, and it smells nice too.

I seem to have lost my bio-oil sadly, and being unable to find it had allowed lots of stretch marks to creep up on me. :(

Very large bump now, it's obvious from a mile that I'm pregnant I think. Blush

MorningsMadness · 06/04/2011 09:46

Just catching up on the news and updating from team yellow to pink - double pink that is. Yes, two girls to join DD - poor DH will be truly outnumbered! It hasn't sunk in yet but whole scan was great and v reassuring.

MrsS I know the sleep feeling, it feels like only after about 4am do I settle and then it's not long until DH and DD are up, lovely. Off to search for the pillows mentioned and that leg spray, I seem to get itchy and restless in all sorts of places and so long to go argh!

Hersetta · 06/04/2011 13:42

Wow MorningMadness that's great - did you know you were expecting twins?

I'd forgotten about the leg cramps so I have that to look forward to soon! I keep waking up with a dead arm where I have been laying on my side which is a pain but apart from that no other problems. The baby has been kicking so much lately - last night I was siting watching TV and he was going mental. I put the TV remote on my tummy and you could see the damm thing bouncing around. He's certainly using his long limbs at the moment (both arm and leg bone measurements were way over the 100th centile at my scan so it looks like DS will be the same as DD. She is freakishishly tall for her age (she's got very long legs) and towers over everyone at her Nursey school even though she is a 31/8 birthday and is therefore the youngest in the class.

I haven't bothered to weigh myself but i don't think i have put on much as my jeans still fit! I only put on 11lbs in the whole of my last pregnancy so i think this one is following suit.

Rehune · 06/04/2011 14:04

Team Yellow here!

lots of movement over the last few days. DH felt a couple of kicks and was thrilled. But over the last couple of days its been crazy in there. Can actually seen the kick from the outside which is freaky AND amazing.

Rehune · 06/04/2011 14:12

Thanks for the tip about the leg spray Yukana Started getting them at night but not so badly - but they are on the cusp of being painful

MrsVidic · 06/04/2011 17:06

It is beginning to feel real isn't it? The heart burn has returned so I'm off to the dr for a prescription. I was looking in the mirror at the gym today and it looks like I have a football up my top, my bump has well and truly sprouted!

wishwales · 06/04/2011 19:02

littlemiss thanks for the link re: movement
