Well I'm still pregnant so I think it was just the pineapple.. blimey I'm not going near the fresh stuff again I think!!! Just taken DP to the station for his first day back at work and feel a bit Sad! I know I'm a grown woman and all that but it's been so lovely both of us being at home together. Obviously I'm happier he's working but still miss my playmate!!!

lucielooo · 11/04/2011 07:36

and I can sympathise with the non-sleepers! Even a short nap means I can't get to sleep at night despite how knackered I might be feeling it's horrible when you feel too tired to function but know a nap will end up making it worse. Am trying to tire myself out every day so I'm physically tired enough to drop off and not just tired from lack of sleep which doesn't seem to do it. And this is only the beginning! Yay!

Petal hope your right nip fares a little better :)

Jaylar · 11/04/2011 07:43

Morning all. Started leaking liquid about an hour ago. Also have intermittent period cramps and a strong desire to empty my bowels. Sorry TMI. I'm swinging from thinking that my waters are breaking in more a trickle than gush to being sure I'm an incontinent old bag. When I leak there is no amount of squeezing can keep it in. This is so different from my first labour if that's what's happening. My waters didn't break till I was nearly ready to push.

I was awake sobbing at 3am having spent 5 hours trying to sleep and bargaining with any God listening to please get labour going as I couldn't take being pregnant one more second. So incontinence could be my punishment. Have had less than 2 hours sleep and feel a bit mad. Wishi knew for sure what was going on.

frakyouveryverymuch · 11/04/2011 07:58

Put a pad on, call your MW and say you think your waters may have gone. They can test whether it's urine or fluid.

Good luck!!!!!

JenAT · 11/04/2011 08:15

Morning. Well, I'm still here, no baby.....

I thought something may be kicking off last night, as had backache and some crampy lower abdo pains, turns out I just needed a big poo! Sorry TMI.

Its horrible when you can't sleep, I feel for you ILTMIMI, Lucie and Lis. I have almost got used to not really sleeping. I get about an hour before I need to get up and wee, or am too uncomfortable.

Jaylar it doesn't sound like wee if its a constant trickle. There is no reason why you would suddenly become incontinent, you are definitely not being punished. I would be pretty convinced its your waters. Some people's go with a gush, some a trickle, and some not until you go into labour. We are all different!

So today I am 41 weeks. I was wondering if so women just can't go into labour naturally and always end up being induced?

JenAT · 11/04/2011 08:16

That was meant to be " I was wondering if some women just can't go into labour naturally"!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/04/2011 08:17

That sounds very promising Jaylar Smile Sounds like the birthing Gods were listening to you Grin

Like Frakk said, phone the MW and put a pad in, maybe have some breakfast, take some paracetamol and go back to bed for a few hours. If this is going to be labour proper get some rest in the early stages.

How exciting!!!

caramellokoalalover · 11/04/2011 08:17

Jaylar hope it's something going on and not just incontinence!

39+1 here and for some reason I had vaguely thought labour would kick off on the 11th for a birthday of the 12th but so far nothing. Deep down stabby pains continue in the evenings and I get all excited thinking something might happen but then it goes away overnight. Disappointing.

Great to hear from those with bubs on the outside. Ouch to the nipple though petal.

lucie & ILTMIMI I've banned myself from napping in the day now too after horrendous wide awake panicky hours in the middle of the night. Going for another swim tonight...well float along in the slow lane with a kickboard anyway...in the hope I sleep better tonight. I wanted to chop my legs off o Saturday night they were so achy and annoying when I was trying to sleep.

Wonder who'll have their baby today?

Cyclebump · 11/04/2011 08:25

Jaylar, I had some of those signs and I too needed a big poo and thought that was it when I went. It wasn't, it was my body getting ready. I felt like I needed a poo for ages before the pain started.

Pad in lady!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/04/2011 08:38

That's a good question JenAt and I don't think anyone really has a comprehensive answer.

I'm sure there are people who don't go into labour sponataneously, but I truly believe they are few and far between. And when it comes down to it, no one really knows how and why labour is triggered. They've made a hormone that triggers labour, but they still don't know the specifics how/why it happens spontaneously (although they believe it's the baby who triggers labour, not the the mum).

Because of the 'rules' of induction in the western world statistics are skewed. For the vast majority of woman and babies, going over 40+ 10 may be perfectly safe for them, but because the risk of placental failure and stillbirth can increase the longer the pregnancy goes on for, Consultants prefer to induce.

So, in a roundabout way, what I'm trying to say is, while woman are being routinely induced at 40 +10, then we will never really know the 'proper' statistics for length of gestation. Does that make sense? I know what I want to say, it's just not coming out well this morning!

Jaylar · 11/04/2011 10:29

Well everything seems to have slowed down down. No more leaking but if I stay active im getting lots of period like cramps and lower back pain. I'm also pooing for Britain and have (apologies) loads of snotty mucus discharge. The midwife is calling back at 12 and if things haven't ramped up she wants me to go into hospital for a 30 minute monitor and to establish if waters have broken. Still getting kicked by buster so am not worriedbut given I'm supposed tobe having a home birth then I'm paranoid that when I step foot in hospital they'll try and keep me there. Would love to go and sleep but am furiously marching about and bouncing on ball to get things happening.

What happens if you go past the 48 hour limit for waters breaking? Is it automatic c section?

frakyouveryverymuch · 11/04/2011 10:34

Induction with syntocin drip here, Jaylar, but I think it's more cord prolapse they'll want to check for. Fingers crossed you manage to avoid having to go in.

kitstwins · 11/04/2011 11:55

What a night/morning! Up for most of night with one of my daughters, who wasn't very well. Think I averaged three hours of disturbed sleep (loo trips). Had a good cry about being tired and overdue this morning and then promptly slipped down the stairs. Only on my back and didn't hurt myself or the baby but it was a shock and I was very worried about falling on my daughters in front of me. Since then, tightenings at the front of my bump which I'd written off as the usual morning period pains. Only for my waters to go with a giant explosion at 11am - everywhere. They're a funny colour (tea) and the baby isn't moving so I'm going in. Just waiting for my husband to turn up from work - naturally he's taking ages, today of all days.

Lots of pains and tightenings and have been wandering around the house slowly trying to get everything organised and not FREAK OUT!!!!

Will keep you posted. Eeeeeeek
Oh yes, and apologies for the crappy post. Am a bit distracted and can't seem to string a coherent sentence together. Oh dear....

kittycatcat · 11/04/2011 11:59

Thinking if you kits and fingers crossed for ur home birth jaylar

frakyouveryverymuch · 11/04/2011 12:00

Oh gosh kits hope you're okay and that DH turns up soon. Fingers crossed baby's just bit surprised by the waters explosion and therefore resting.

waters gone + pains and tightenings = labour IMO!!!!

LisMcA · 11/04/2011 12:07

morning! After pulling myself together at 4am this morning when I realised people were starting to get up to start their day I went to bed a forced myself to sleep. It actually didn't take that long. So I've had about 6 hours sleep.

Pains still there from yesterday, but not a strong. I too feel like I need a poo.

Sound promising for you Jaylar waters, and a show menas things are imminent! Don't quite understand why you need to go to hospital for them to confirm your waters have gone though if you are having a homebirth? Can't your midwife confirm that herself?

I'm off to hunt down some food!!

JustKeepSwimming · 11/04/2011 12:08

Kits - hope you & baby are ok (& DH gets home asap!!).

Jaylar - hope either things ramp up or you get through the monitoring and come home again. I'd be the same about going into hosp.

Can tell baby has dropped here as was up for lots of night wees instead of just one or two.
Thinking naptime after lunch.

LisMcA · 11/04/2011 12:21

Oh xposts with Kits! Keep calm! It will all be fine! Sounds like it's a race between you and Jaylar who is next on the ARRIVED list!

Sassy20 · 11/04/2011 13:31

Not been on for ages but been keeping up to date. 40 + 5 today and just want something to happen! Very exciting hearing about all the new babies arriving. Got hospital appt on Thursday and will ask for sweep if nothing started.

lucielooo · 11/04/2011 13:34

kits Don't freak out!! Sounds to me like you've gone into labour :) Judging by the time you posted I reckon you'll be at the hospital by now and hope it's all going well!

Good luck to you too Jaylar! Stick to your guns at the hospital - once they've done the monitoring and given you the all clear, then I can't see why they wouldn't let you go home rather than transfering to elsewhere in the hospital (I'm hoping for a homebirth too so understand the concerns) Hope it all works out the way you want :)

In news here had a snotty wipe this morning and have been for a poo 3 times so I'm hoping that these are good signs! Though I have been going mad on the chilli's so that may account for the bowels. Is anyone else finding they have a higher than usual chilli tolerance at the moment? Went for a curry on Friday DP thought it was hot, I was disappointed that it wasn't.. had pizza with jalapenos on Sat which was making DP sweat and I was again a bit disappointed that it didn't feel hotter... and finally my trusty chilli sauce that I can usually only have a teeny bit of I was slathering all over my dinner last night and still didn't find it hot!! I'm just wondering if you're body does something a bit clever with your pain threshold at the stage in pregnancy? I am sure it's not just in my head!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/04/2011 13:59

Jaylar - it's up to you what you do after 48 hours, if you and baby are fine (you no temperatures, baby movements and HR) you can carry on until you go into labour, but I think you'll have your baby before then Smile You also don't have to go to hospital if you don't want to, a MW could come out to you if you insist.

Goodluck Kits, hopefully this is labour time for you too. Just a bummer it had to start in such a dramatic way.

No idea about chilli threshold Lucie, korma is about as hot as I go Blush

No signs of labour here, unless a persistant itchy left tit is a well known sign? Grin I also think ds and I are coming down with a cold, so defo no labour for me until it goes.

Oh, and my rule of not napping at lunchtime went out of the window. I fell asleep on the sofa for 20 minutes after I put ds down for his nap

LisMcA · 11/04/2011 14:10

I have itchy norks too ILTMIMI so i think we should look at that as a sign labour is imminent!!

I'm off for a nap. Can barely keep my eyes open today!

ecuse · 11/04/2011 14:28

Morning all. Sounds like some exciting happenings afoot, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for those of you who might be in labour!

I too am suffering from lack of sleep. I don't seem to get tired until about 2am, then only manage to sleep really badly, waking up every hour or so to pee until 7 or 8 in the morning and then suddenly I seem to fall asleep properly and can occasionally get up to 4 hours at a stretch. But then I'm not getting up until midday, so I feel all at odds. But then I suppose that's what ML is for - to allow me to accommodate the weirdness. If I was still trying to work and sleeping like this I think I'd be a wreck!

Well I made it to my best friend's wedding on Saturday (and it was so, so lovely!) so I am content now and as far as I'm concerned the baby can arrive whenever it likes. 39 weeks tomorrow and until now all my attention has been on keeping the little one IN until after the wedding, now am starting to think about RLT, pineapple and shagging.

My freezer is now amusingly full in a sort of OCD way with individually portioned meals in little plastic tubs labeled with stickers I made DP print out for me. I am such a nerd. And I've just ordered a big Sainsbury's shop full of cans of soup, pasta and pesto and baked beans as well, so we should be fairly well stocked up and not have to starve in the first few weeks.

So for now I'm going to ignore the washing up, take myself off for a shower and then a little walk to the post office in the sunshine and possibly down to the market to do some light shopping.

frakyouveryverymuch · 11/04/2011 15:33

Well I have bizarre mystery rib pain - like a stitch but higher - so I'm scaring myself whilst trying not to worry. Problem is it's making doing deep, calming breaths impossible.

MrsWajs · 11/04/2011 16:13

Afternoon ladies :)

Lots of exciting goings on here, Kits I hope you're ok from your fall, I did that a few months back but all was fine! And fingers crossed you are now in the hosiptal having a baby as II type!!
Also hope it all kicks off for you soon too Jaylar eee exciting stuff all round.

Well yesterday was my original due date, although now referred to as 38 weeks lol, had MW appt today and babyWajs is 1/5 engaged - yay!! MW decided not to bother booking me in for 40 weeks appt as clinic is particularly busy for this time of year apparently, so next time I see them will be for a sweep at 40+3! Eeep!

Half excited, half shitting myself!!
