Raspberry leaf Brew and Biscuit all round.

Continuation from here. No Mofo C bombs yet been dropped in the delivery room although our first 2 babies have arrived. Congrats to gormers and Jo, we hope your little ones are still doing great.

JenAT - good luck with your induction if it comes to that.. a friend who had her baby a couple of weeks ago was induced and recomends it - labour was 1hr 40 minutes from start to finish!! Don't know the details of whether she had just the prostaglandin or the whole shebang or what pain relief she had but she is very positive about the experience which is something!

Liv77 · 15/04/2011 17:15

Jen My cervix was still closed when I had my 2nd gel pessary at my induction and DD was born 6 hours later using only a Tens for pain relief. Having the gel inserted was uncomfortable but bearable and it wasn't as invasive as i'd imagined. I was going to be given a 3rd gel if needed before they progressed to other means which I assume would have been the drip.

Well technically my Masters could be construed as an extended study of wordplay Grin I just sit and ponder other people's ideas until things click.

Crap at maths though....

I'm intrigued by your experience with the TENS MrsW

LisMcA · 15/04/2011 17:56

Does anyone else feel disconnected? I feel like I've been wondering around in my own little bubble today. I've found it very hard to keep conversations going with all the nosey buggers well wishers calling to see how I'm doing/where the baby is.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/04/2011 18:01

Have you not tried a TENS frakk?, you defo should. I recommend trying it out on dh first (on a hairy patch of skin ) to see what level is bearable, then try it on you. It's certainly a feeling I don't think I could explain.

Where is everyone today? Do you think they're all off having babies?

I feel weary today, I had my second late night of the week last night (11.30 is late for me, ok?!) and I feel washed out. It was a Book Group meeting so I really wanted to go and see everyone as I probably won't get a chance to go to the first couple after the baby is born. Plus my chances for a night out are dwindling each day, so I feel I should make the effort and go out while I can.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/04/2011 18:02

I have moments of disconnection Lis, I mostly have them when it's just me in the house and I find I'm walking around the house from room to room with no real purpose.

frakyouveryverymuch · 15/04/2011 18:08

Can't get them here, or not that I can find.... I wish I'd bought one in the UK!

I get the disconnected feeling, Lis, although I didn't tell anyone in RL the due date Grin so at least I'm spared the bugging.

Had a visit at 12 from two ladies I know from church who popped in "to give me a break" only they brought a twelve year old, a baby and a dog which caused chaos with Fraser and my dog (think tea and biscuits mixed with knowing things over e.g. vase, barking, chasing, frantic baby crying, Fraser tantrums, comments on Fraser's red bottom which is due to him being unwell the other day) then at 2ish I started dropping hints that it had been nice for them to visit and that I was tired and I even put Fraser up for his nap saying I could do with one myself to which one replied well "you just close your eyes for ten minutes that's alright", at about 5 I burst into tears and said I was exhausted and I hoped they would think me rude but I really need to rest. They have just left. When leaving one mentioned maybe popping into tomorrow morning to see how I am.....
I am sat here in tears wondering if I'm an ungrateful wreach...

architien · 15/04/2011 18:18

*knocking thing over....sigh

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/04/2011 18:34

Oh blimey Archie, that sounds like an afternoon of endurance rather than giving you a break. I understand that people would bring their children, but a dog??!!!, and to stay that long? That's the sort of 'help' you can do without. They must also have hides like bloody rhino's to not pick up on your stress Shock

LisMcA · 15/04/2011 18:41

Oh Arch I'm guessing telling them to bugger off wasn't an option. Lovely that they care, but maybe just not answer the door if they come back? You are not ungrateful, the ladies were just over zealous about how much company you needed. IMO 4 hours is way too long for a visit, but then I like my own space and those who know me well knows this.

Because we haven't lived here very long I don't have a circle of people who just pop in by, for that I am truly thankful! I have logged off Facebook and I am quite prepared to switch off the phones until Buster is here.

lucielooo · 15/04/2011 19:02

Quick (but very important) cake question please ladies! When you're freezing them for later, do you have to freeze whole? Will it go stale if I cut it into smaller pieces and freeze so I don't have a whole cake on the go at any one time??

Arch it sounds like you had a rather stressful afternoon even though their intentions were good - what an incredibly long visit!

Any more signs from anyone? Absolutely nothing here.. feel even less like I'm going to go into labour than I did a week ago and I'm 5 days overdue now. All my NCT group have had their babies now, last one was today.. on the plus side at least I know I'll definitely be next!!!

LisMcA · 15/04/2011 19:14

You are good to slice and freeze cake lucie. Just make sure it's kept airtight when defrosting or it can dry out I find. Also depends on the type of cake too! If its something like a long life fruit cake, you can get awa without freezing it for a couple of months. Victoria sponges on the other hand go stale really quickly and should be frozen as soon as they are baked. I'd portion VS up.

kittycatcat · 15/04/2011 19:28

lis I get that. I feel odd at first then I settle then I want peace. That said I have visitors coming tue, wed and thurs next week!

arch hugs! That doesn't sound like fun at all.

coo-ee ladies, the new thread is over here

Daisy17 · 15/04/2011 22:27

Hello ladies, quick update, bit late as no technology at the hospital, and more details later, but our little boy Seth was born just before midnight on Wednesday, 7lb 3oz and absolutely gorgeous. Settling in at home now. Smile

Sassy20 · 16/04/2011 09:31

Congratulations Daisy Seth was born the same day as Lucy, obviously a good day to be born. Hope you're all settling in back at home.
