Raspberry leaf Brew and Biscuit all round.

Continuation from here. No Mofo C bombs yet been dropped in the delivery room although our first 2 babies have arrived. Congrats to gormers and Jo, we hope your little ones are still doing great.

Lis I've got the perma-BH going on. I remember someone at antenatal saying the diff between BH & 'real' contractions were that BH's stop when you walk around, and CXs get stronger. That's got to be crap cos I get BH's every time I move.

Which means I've got a solid belly most of the time. And have had for flipping weeks now!

BH's have ramped up for the evening, as is usual. Feeling mega grumpy and a bit rubbish. So please ignore me! x

NotAnotherNewNappy · 22/03/2011 19:29

So sorry but I really need an emergency moan....

Had scan today - AFI (amniotic fluid index) has shot up from 24 to 36 Shock I don't really know what that means, except I have half as much fluid again as I had two weeks ago, and that was already too much. MW measured bump at 45cm at 37+4!! All signs are that everyrhing is fine with baby, but of course I can't stop worrying that something is wrong.

I'm seeing Obs on friday, MW says she will probably offer to induce me. In the meantime I am just a huge stretchmarky freak who is growing bigger by the minute. It's so frustrating to have absolutely no control over my own body. DH and even went to our lucky mexican restaurant for lunch (i.e. where I ate my last meal before DD1) in an effort to kick things off. I ordered exactly the same meal and I ate loads of jalepenos but still nothing Angry

Oh, and after boasting about my nice hair yesterday... I put some fish fingers under the grill for DD, took a bit too long to light the gas, and singed my fringe and the front layers of my new bob [mummy at the end of her tether emoticon]

PS On OBEM, what was going on with those teeth? They didn't appear to be drug users. Surely she must have had a dentist phobia?

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 22/03/2011 19:31

Definitely crap - my BHs get worse when I move around! And I have a rock hard stomach a lot of the time. I was terrified I was going to go into labour in the supermarket earlier. This baby is categorically not allowed to come any time in the next 2 weeks or so. I have to finish at work and then DH is going away!

I think my PG song is fireflies.

OP posts:
SnapFrakkleAndPop · 22/03/2011 19:34

Oh no notanother - that's disappointing re: the fluid situation. Do you think you'll take the induction option? Hope everything's okay with baby though and maybe those jalopenos will kick in tonight?

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/03/2011 19:43

That's crap NANN. Did they explain the reasons why the fluid has increased? Sometimes I find knowing why helps me resign myself to a sitution. Good to hear the baby is ok though.

I'm liking people's pregnancy songs Grin, that Adele song makes me feel very melancholy. I'm also surprised that others like my pregnancy song as I thought it's a bid old fart'ish.

Can't say I do know other tracks like that JKS. I do like Norah Jones' first album (Come Away With ME - I think), but you probably have that already - I think EVERYONE has!

DH just bought me a cuppa and a hot cross bun, the bun was packed with fruit and smothered in butter

Cyclebump · 22/03/2011 20:04

That's not fun NotAnother, hope they can deal with it.

Have just had a nesting binge. Scrubbed all the new surfaces in the kitchen, washed up, reorganised all the cupboards, moved things off the changing table, folded all baby clothing and bedding into the new boxes from Ikea and out them on said changing table, made dinner and am now exhausted with painful BHs. Ouch!

Liv77 · 22/03/2011 20:33

Well done on the new thread title, so glad that the coc pops made it Grin

I feel absolutely knackered today, made the most of DS being at preschool to sort out the spare room, my mum came to help out for a bit but my back is killing me now. We actually managed to get the floor clear enough to hoover. Good job as had a call this afternoon to say that DS's big boy bed is now in stock and is being delivered Thursday morning when he's at preschool. I've started putting his books and toys in the new room today and he was so excited at bedtime tonight when he had to go and choose a book from his big boy bedroom. Smile

I'm hoping my mum will be able to come around and help out with the bed assembly on Thurs but it depends on my dad who is being a grumpy old git at the moment and is complaining about how much time my mum is spending here. He told me yesterday that we can't go round on Sunday for lunch like we normally do as he wants them to have some time on their own. My mum has told me to ignore him as he'll only spend the afternoon watching football on the TV anyway and she'd be bored if we didn't go round. Confused. I have diplomatically said that we are going to visit the in-laws this sunday.

Lol at the garlic up your front bottom story, it made me think of that MN classic about the nursery worker with the garlic up her bottom Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/03/2011 20:41

NotAnother - eek I can see why you are worried, but I'm sure all is well. Will you take the offer of induction if it is made on Friday?
Nightmare about the hair! If you wash it and then trim off the very, very ends will it rescue it?

Frakk - v.sensible to crack BF before starting on cloth, it's what we did with DS. I think we will just get on with cloth as soon as the meconium is gone this time, seeing as we know what we're doing with pailing and washing etc. I've got a couple of packs of disposables though to see us through that first week.

Cycle - nothing mad about stockpiling a few things. Just remind DP that it won't be you going out to the 24 hour supermarket in search of things at 3am Wink He will change his tune almost immediately!!

I have no particular music that reminds me of this pregnancy, I haven't really found anything 'new' that I like recently

I like Norah Jones too, v.relaxing. In fact I think it was on my labour playlist with DS, along with a load of covers of Sinatra etc done by people like Sting and Jamie Cullen.
Must sort out some music for my phone actually, and dig out earphones for hospital for the times when DH isn't there with me.

No BHs at all today, just loads and loads of wiggling from bump. Bump seems to have dropped again because I've had to take the back extenders off my bras.

My Mum is coming up tomorrow and staying the night and then taking DS to his music class on Thursday - yay!
I've got anaesthetist tomorrow at the hospital, bloods etc ready for Monday and apparently they will give me some tablets to take before I go in?? Hmm CMW then on Thursday. So many appointments, when I just want to stay at home!!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/03/2011 20:43

Liv - I think I would throw a tantrum if my Dad said anything like that! Shock

Cyclebump · 22/03/2011 21:03

Hmmmm, Liv do we have the same dad?

Mine is similarly grumpy that I'm getting mum's attention. It's only her first grandchild after all...

MuffinMouse · 22/03/2011 22:39

Petalouda I'm with you on the BH thing. Mine are starting to HURT. They def get worse when I move around and in the evening. A couple of days ago I thought I was going to have to phone into the maternity unit, it hurt so much more than usual. But then wondered whether it was just bubs trying to lie sideways (transverse?) IYSWIM. Didn't think she would have enough room at this stage??? Def felt a hard head/bott on either side for a while...

Hormonal woman alert - told M&S cashier that I did not HAVE to go up to the second floor (from the basement) to return an item! But really, my back was killing me, and it said exchanges at this till.... (as long as it's the same amount apparently). Blood boiled. Still went all the way upstairs, and then had to sit on the floor as the queue was so slow moving Blush

Decided no more shopping for me (internet only)

architien · 23/03/2011 06:30

I was up before dawn again and I've a nice announcement to make...the birds are calling spring :D

Happy spring ladies :)

Cyclebump · 23/03/2011 07:12

Ooh, an advantage to be awake so early, I've just watched Rastamouse!

It's hilarious, loving it.

DP kicked out in his sleep last night and said 'You're ruining my sleep!' while fast asleep last night. It's because I was doing the grunty shuffle to turn over Blush

Plus, apparently, I was panting weirdly in my sleep, he said it sounded like when I get a nasty BH so maybe I was contracting in my sleep. Weird.

kitstwins · 23/03/2011 07:35

Lisa Re: solid tummy I dunno really. The consultant lady had a prod and a push, looked wise and made her pronouncement. I think if your tummy is hard then it's a sign you're favourable for labour in the next 48 hours but I think other symptoms have to be there. Consultant lady reeled off a bit of a list: increased discharge (nope from me), loss of mucus plug (nope again), braxton hicks (hell, yes).

Must dash - one of the girls had just appeared wanting me to rub cream on her back. Er, okay...

Petalouda · 23/03/2011 08:01

Morning,

Cycle I had my first Rastamouse experience not long ago, twas the talk of the staff room after a particularly brilliant Daily Mash article! I thought it was brilliant!

Another morning, and another sense of disappointment when I wake up to find I haven't woken up in labour in the night. (I'm convinced it'll happen overnight, for some reason).

Kit On your list, the only thing I haven't had is the plug. Starting to thing this baby is as stubborn as his mother Blush

EDD -2 days.

JustKeepSwimming · 23/03/2011 08:21

Well I've definitely got the increased discharge - had it from now on with both boys looking back in my diary.
And some v painful BH's but i didn't have those with both boys.

Only 36+3 so far and planning on hanging on until school holidays so don't want to start looking for too many signs yet :)

DS2 woke when i went for my midnight wee - doesn't bode well for crying baby stuff at night....

Cyclebump · 23/03/2011 09:25

All I'm missing is the plug too, but I'm 12 days until my due date.

Yay! Am seeing friend with cute cute baby today for a walk in the sunshine Smile

BeetleBaby · 23/03/2011 09:55

Morning all. Lots of BH here as well this morning, my bump's so hard it feels more like a bowling ball in there than a baby (until I get a foot jabbed into my rib as a reminder, thanks kid!). No mucus plug, and no increase in discharge, but then I had thrush last week so compared with then I would be Shock if there could be more!

Had MW appt yesterday and all is as it should be, though Little Insect has decided to tuck it's bum under my right ribs and I need to persuade it to wiggle to the left/middle, more time on the Yoda ball awaits! At the end the MW made me an appt for two weeks time but did say that hopefully I won't be going to that one...(fingers crossed!).

I'm not sure what to do with myself this morning, I'm actually considering washing the covers from the sofa to make up a load of washing! Hmm Though from the sound of things I should find an episode of Rastamouse to distract me from the BH Grin

AprilMeadow · 23/03/2011 10:23

How exciting... we are only a few days away from actual due dates!!

Sorry to hear about your Grandma Lis :(

I'm with you Petal on the waking each morning and being disappointed to not have been woken in the night!

I have been 'banished' to the nursery to sleep for the last 2 wks as i was keeping dh awake with my grunting and whale like shuffling. Not good as he has taken over getting up in the night with dd2 who is 18mths. We both seem to be getting much better sleep which is good.

This week I have noticed that the braxton hicks are getting much stronger and seem to be working their way downwards rather than just being around the middle of my bump. Last night i had a batch of them that were between 6-8mins apart and strong. I decided to go to bed and try and sleep as i figured I would be woken if it was anything.... I woke at 7.15am and am still pg :).

8 days until due date and have had 2 phone calls already asking if baby has arrived yet. 4 people at school made the comment of 'oh not had the baby yet then?' and 2 girls at work... HONESTLY does it a) look like it & b) do you not think i would have said something..? Angry

We are off to Silverstone tonight and tomorrow for the British Touring Cars Media Day (we own part of a team) and am taking my bag & car seat just incase as it is over an hour from us. Am sure I will come back with them un-opened but at least i will be prepared!

Hoping to get out in the garden today and make the most of the sunshine :)

JenAT · 23/03/2011 10:28

Good morning everyone. Sun shining here, beautiful day.

Going to attempt to get in the car (side pain permitting) to go and sit in my Mums garden in the sunshine.

Petal didn't realise you are due in 2 days, eek how exciting.

I am getting the odd BHs but not much really, tummy definitely feels hard, and just like carrying a bowling ball around.

Notanother oh dear. How is your fringe today? Must admit your story did make me chuckle a bit. Hope you are not worrying too much about having to possibly be induced.

Sounds like Rastamouse is popular, will have to introduce dd to it, (then I can watch too)

caramellokoalalover · 23/03/2011 10:42

DH was working from home yesterday so he could mind DS while I went to my 38wk appt. I came home to find him complaining he had got no work done. He was very pleased to have been home to watch Rastamouse though and has now set up to record the series. Be warned, the theme tune is very catchy. I might put it on my ipod for a song for labour.

What's the consensus on putting bedding on the moses basket/cot? Is 36+3 too early? Will it get dusty and I need to wash it again in mad late nesting phase at 39wks? Or will the mattress get dusty now sitting with no sheets on...am losing the plot now! Sunshine is going to my head!

Petalouda · 23/03/2011 10:51

Hey, I just had a thought...

Does anyone remember Hippy3 who was expecting twins in april? I just realised, if we're starting to approach our due dates, she might have had her twins by now!

I've just done a bit of lurking around the multiples threads, and the last post I can find from her is from last thurs saying that at 34wks one twin was engaged & the other breech, and that her consultant thought she might have them soon!

So, if anyone else has any news, let us know. And, Hippy3, if you're lurking around here still, good luck and let us know how it goes!

Of course, if they have arrived she'll be super busy, and they're likely to be in hospital for a little while. But I hope we hear good news soon!

AussieMum2Be · 23/03/2011 11:00

Kits You inspired me and last night my Epi-No reached a benchmark of 6cm too ! Have you blown up the thing and seen how big 10cm is ! Scary !

IliketoMove Yummo to the hot cross bun, dripping in butter, my whole mouth filled with saliva when I read that.

Alibaba Ahhh Sinatra covers, im going to download a bunch tonight, sounds perfect !

Well my pregnancy song which ive been singing usually in my head since I found out i was pregnant is "Baby Mine" by Bette Midler from Beaches, occassionally sung outloud in the shower but doesnt sound as nice as it does in my head sung by Bette Midler.

Birthing Assessment today so only 3.45hours left at work today - hooray, I actually think im gonna be fine working till 4 days before EDD, im just sitting on my butt at work on MN anyway most of the day and doing last minute internet shopping !! Hope she doesnt come early ! Dont fancy waters breaking on the tube which my DP thought would be super funny he let me know last night !

Enjoy the weather all, Sun in the sky, you know how I feel, Breeze driftin on by you know how I feel, its a new dawn, its a new day, its a new life, for me ......... And im feeling GOOD !

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 23/03/2011 11:02

petal She was on the very first thread a while ago asking if we were still there but was pointed towards the one we've just filled up. Hopefully she'll be able to find us!

caramello I'd rather have dust on the mattress than the sheets. You can always cover the matress with a plastic bag.

jen and beetle I have the bowling ball feeling. I think it's just that I've stretched as far as I'm going to and there's not that much amniotic fluid in there (not worried at all, my mother never carried much fluid either) which makes bump just feel harder in general.

I'm ages away from my due date and have forbidden baby from making an appearance unless it's Friday/Saturday. Don't have another midwife appointment until the 19th of April, and would quite like not to go to that one because I'm them 40+3! I'm starting to see the sense in the French giving you an extra week to expect to be pregnant. At least if/when I go overdue it won't feel sooooo overdue.

Increased discharge - seems very vague to me, although I guess it'll become apparent? I get random gushes (TMI!) but it's not really a consistent increase. No plug gone, just lots of BH's and a hard feeling tummy but I've had that since about 32 weeks!

OP posts:
Petalouda · 23/03/2011 12:02

Ooh, I've just logged onto the computer and have had a couple of interesting emails I should share with you!

  1. The people from Natal Hypnotherapy have contacted me asking if I would like a free Labour Companion CD to test & review for them! It's a Maggie Howell one, so if you've bought one recently, check your email and see if they want to send you a free CD! (and it's not the 'plinky plonky' music one, it's a new one with the lady's voice with "3 hypnosis tracks - one to be used during the excitement phase, one during the serious phase and a short one for overcoming the self doubt or an adrenaline blip")
  1. Tesco's have emailed to say they've got a massive baby sale on now.
  1. The Nappy Lady has emailed to say that Motherease are about to put their prices up, so if you were thinking about buying any of their products, now is the time!

I'm going to post on the multiples ante-natal thread to let Hippy3 know where we are now, and that we wish her all the best!

Oh, and it's still a bit chilly, but I've just worn my flip-flops out whilst hanging the washing. Lush!
