Hi all, well no PIL yesterday as planned (shame!) we spent the day at a friends with 2 bolshy 2 year olds, I think I was being a bit pfb as I was hovering near dd quite a lot when she was being passed round Blush I knew I was doing it but couldn't stop Grin

angels on the way home yest dd an explosive poo that ended up in the car seat too Shock and she wasn't even late, she'd pooed the day before, I'll be very interested to see how you get on Grin

dd is also a very vigourous kicker, no signs of rolling yet, just very energetic kicks.

Bless D getting overwhelmed ledkr, a couple of times recently dd has woekn up in her sleep crying, actual tears and 'wah wah'ing, its cute but a bit sad makes me wonder what shes dreaming about!

Dp wanted to give dd ice cream the other day, just a little taste, I wouldn't him (pfb again Wink) Now I'd quite like to try her on some chocolate! A hv I used to work with said they only advise 6 months because people will do it earlier anyway, and if they said 3-4 months people would still wean earlier but then it would be too early if that makes sense.

Have any bottle feeders moved onto a bigger teat size yet? think dd is ready to but tried her on size 2 and it seemed a bit much for her, she got upset but then size 1's take her ages and the teat keeps collapsing.

ledkr · 25/04/2011 18:12

Yes started this week, but her teats are the orthadontic ones that the cleft people like her to have.We had ordered the newborn size but dh accidentally ordered 2 next size but i need to get some more.
Does anyone need any bottles? I couldnt use D's as she has special ones,i was also given some lovely nuby bottles they are the soft type really expensive to buy.I have some tommy tippee too,im sure they are only light to post. It seems a shame to chuck them away.

ILovePonyo · 25/04/2011 18:20

Ah I tried the size 2's this week too. Might try again tomorrow.

Can you ebay the bottles? I have loads of Tommee Tippee ones (thanks for the offer though Smile) and am thinking about getting rid of some unused ones on ebay, even if I just get a few quid. What are nuby bottles?

ILovePonyo · 25/04/2011 18:23

Don't worry I just googled!

ledkr · 25/04/2011 18:28

do you reckon they will sell on e bay.I may do a car boot tbh,i wanted to sell my mat clothes and have some small baby gros and stuff. My sisters are doing one next sunday but i am out on the sat and intend to be a tad hungover on the sunday Grin just popping upstairs to do a bit more unpacking from hols,i get to do mine, ellas and Delilahs whilst dh does just his few t shirts and shorts Hmm

ILovePonyo · 25/04/2011 18:45

I don't think you'll make loads for them on ebay but think they will sell. Though if you car boot them at least you don't have to worry about posting, feedback etc.
I've got so much to get rid of a car boot is a good idea, never done one before!
I get to sort out all of dd's clothes too, lucky me, don't think dp has ever even put them into wash Hmm Enjoy your night out on sat!

Tarlia · 25/04/2011 19:41

I think if I can get Z to wait until 6 months then I def will. I really can't be bothered with purees, so hope to babyled wean, but I think he has other ideas as he follows food we are eating. OH thought he was funny the other day holding something close tohim, I was holding him and he lunged for it.

Well done baby Expat!

wiggles glad bil has decided to be an adult again.

angels forget the black, get plastic coating the house :P

We've had a lovely picnic today with fil. Has anyone else been caught out by not having clothes cool enough for the weather? We need to go shopping Grin.

wigglesrock · 25/04/2011 20:01

ponyo Have you thought about widening the teat hole slightly see if that makes a difference rather than changing teats (just use a sterilised needle), did it with dd1 for a week until she was ready to go for a faster flow.

Ledkr I remember dd1 and dd2 used to get overwhelmed sometimes and just needed a nice quiet cuddle from Mum - once a drama queen Grin

Another lovely day here, heading to the seaside for the day tomorrow - Mr W has finished for a few days, so the rain clouds will probaby gather just as we are setting off Wink

ILovePonyo · 25/04/2011 20:21

Thanks wiggles, I have thought of that but am bit worried I might make it too big and worse than a size 2 teat! Tho if you've done it and it worked I might gove it a go...

Enjoy the seaside, hope it stays nice and sunny for you!

ledkr · 25/04/2011 20:48

ah wiggles that sounds lovely, good thing about our blokes is the days off are often in week so not fighting the weekend crowds. Come to think of it dh seems like hes been off for ages, hes starting to annoy me now,im the only one who remembers D's meds and they have to be given at specific times so not with milk which is tricky,he forgot one today and poor thing was a bit worse for it, cue a big lecture from me with a few profanities Blush Els is back to school tmw it seems odd so i forgot and she was on the trampoline at 8pm haha.
Tarlia id defo rather no wean as its bad enough going out with bottles never mind anything else.BLW is not an option untill her palate is repaired.I always laugh at blw anyway as if its some sort of new concept, being one of 4 all my dcs were sat in a high chair with whatever we ate in front of them, they ate pizza, currys and all sorts and when we finfished dinner i just cleared it away, never fretted about how much they ate had no time and they all thrived haha,i bet wiggles was the same too.I think anxious parents = food probs with babies.

Tarlia · 25/04/2011 21:02

I agree, ledkr. I had to stifle a giggle listening to others going on about the new weaning concept. It's a shame you do not have the choice with D, though to be honest it is pretty easy with a small hand held blender, I'm just a lazy moo. Any more news about D's op?

Enjoy the seaside wiggles. make sure to have some yummy chips. They taste so different when eaten on a beach I think.

wigglesrock · 25/04/2011 21:13

Tarlia I am the only Irish person alive who doesn't like potatoes Grin I lived abroad (Africa) from 18 months - 4 years and didn't have a lot of different foods until I was too old to like them!!! (it was the 1970's) - no internet then Wink So don't like potaoes, chips, ice-cream, yogurt etc - rice, corn, tomatoes -on the other hand I can hoover up like nobodys business!!

WanderingSheep · 25/04/2011 21:22

Hi everyone! Smile

Hope you've all enjoyed your Easter weekend and that any older DCs haven't eaten too much chocolate! DD1 is a nightmare when it comes to chocolate and sweets. I swear it's been like living with a drug addict! She's constantly been asking for it and is constantly looking out for her next fix. We're limiting it which she is non too happy about Grin.

Angels I think that somebody has been switching the nappies of your DD and my DD2! Hmm Seriously, she used to be a once every couple of days kinda gal but recently she's been shitting for England and doing about 3 a day! They always leak through to her vest as well. DH is NOT impressed! It meant that he had to change a dirty nappy while I was in the bath. It's the first time he's changed one as he won't do them as they make him feel sick [wuss] but yesterday he had no choice .

Ledkr I know what you mean about the bond strengthening. I now feel that Dd2's little personality is really emerging. She's so smiley now and it's heartwarming. Smile I think that when they're tiny, even though we love them, it all seems so thankless as they don't seem to return any love but when they start to sleep better at night time and when they smile and gurgle at you, it's so much more rewarding as you feel like your love for them is being returned a bit!

WanderingSheep · 25/04/2011 21:38

DD1 always ate what we ate too and I mostly let her feed herself, not so much baby led weaning as she was weaned earlyish at 21 weeks but lots of finger foods - sandwiches, carrot sticks etc. I'd even let her feed herself pasta and curry but it was bloody messy, although it means you can eat your own meal without stopping to feed them!

ledkr · 25/04/2011 22:51

There will be no baby led anything in my house lol im the boss Grin

WanderingSheep · 25/04/2011 22:57

Tarlia · 26/04/2011 04:46
Grin
tadjennyp · 26/04/2011 05:51

Grin ledkr!

lol wiggles I used to live in a student flat with a bloke from the Ivory Coast who was a whizz with a hoover and an iron - and was considerate enough to do it with his top off! Wink

I can't believe we're all talking about weaning when it only seems 5 mins since we were worrying about the both! Smile

janedoe25 · 26/04/2011 07:31

Morning ladies and babies! I hope you all had a fab weekend, i didnt do much went to the pub on sat night its no fun when staying sober when everyone else has had a skinfull!
Had a lovely day out yesterday with DF we drove over to Loch Lomond for a walk and a spot of lunch, nice and relaxing!
Hope you all have a good day x

ILovePonyo · 26/04/2011 08:31

tarlia and tadjenny were both up early I see :)

jane were you designated driver on sat night? I agree that its not great when everyone is drunk and you're not, I stopped going out when pg because I suddenly found that drunk people were actually pretty boring when I was sober, I'd rather of been sleeping! Course that hasn't stopped me getting back on the Wine in the last few weeks haha. Hope you have a good day too :)

Grin for ledkr too, that made me laugh.

Gave dd size 2 teat this morning for her first bottle, she guzzled it down in 10mins instead of the ususal half an hour with no choking so yep, deffo ready for a change! It means shelling out for more teats boo, why are they never on offer Hmm

Its cloudy here today but going to venture out with dd and dp to local punjabi centre for curry for lunch, yum Grin

ledkr · 26/04/2011 08:38

Jane,i dont understand why you were sober haha.I have had 3 bottles of wine over the weekend Shock I was going to ask if you saw the monster and then realised it was the wrong loch Grin

Am i missing something about african paople hoovering?Do share. I went out with a Jamaican who did sod all apart from add hot sauce to everything i cooked,he was lazy but oh sooooo beautiful haha

D slept until 7.45 but was stirring and wriggling from about 5 so i was awake,is anyone elses daft baby doing this? Poor thing has awaful reflux today but no crying she just gets on with it bless her.

janedoe25 · 26/04/2011 09:52

Poor D, she sounds like a tough little mite! Sounds daft but i'm to scared to get drunk so have decided to stop drinking! Helps with the weight loss......

ILovePonyo · 26/04/2011 10:18

Ah jane after I posted I did wonder if that was the case, fair enough. It definitely does help with weight loss, I think one of the reasons I lost weight when pg was the lack of wine Blush

ledkr dd is usually stirring and making a noise from about 5 ish but I can usually sleep through it Grin She really fights her swaddle but if I undo she wakes up more Confused Bless little D and her reflux, what a trooper :)

Bensmum76 · 26/04/2011 11:03

Noah tends to come into a lighter sleep around 3am, then goes in and out of sleep until 5 when he comes into bed with us. I don't know if he needs to go to bed later as he goes around 8ish now. I still think 8 til 3 is a good stretch of sleep but am tired as when he sleeps with us I dont sleep well!
Must admit I am tending to drink a bottle of Stella every night, it goes down very very well!

ledkr · 26/04/2011 12:18

D is desperate for bed about 7pm we try and keep her going for longer tho,i must admit when she had late nights on holiday she was awfull, waking at 3 or 4 for feeds!!
Jane,i lost a bit of weight when first pg cos not drinking, let us know how it goes. I have been eating as well as you can when have a thousand easter eggs in the house and lots of bank hols and bbq's,i have just asked my mate to have D tomorrow so i can go to the gym with dh as cant face it alone for the first time in case i collapse, the weight really gets you down doesnt it?I am never happy but have been longing for my pre pg body which altho not perfect was nice. I literally have a hosueful of clothes i csnnot wear, and about 10 things i can.Tis tres annoying.
