ledkr · 30/03/2011 10:26

ah,my Mum used to sugar my dc's tea behind my back.Hmm

Far be it from me to stick up for the mil (god forbid) but it is a gp thing.I taught my Joshy to sing who let the dogs out and blow rasberries!! He falls about laughing when he sees me,im his naughty grandma Grin He has a special grreting for me,says Hellllooooo gma,and then hi lilah when sees the pram.

ILovePonyo · 30/03/2011 10:27

Morning all, dd slept from 10.30 until 5 am then back to sleep after a feed - wahay! Of course whilst I appreciate it I also worry that she didn't have much of a feed before bed and is she drinking enough etc etc Hmm I need to chill out a bit but can't see that happening.

I've just had a cup of tea and creme egg for my breakfast so can't see any weight loss happening here any time soon.

Dd might be in her cot soon but that would mean putting her in her own room beacuse theres no way the cot would fit in our bedroom - I don't want to put her in there in a way, I feel like I'll miss the snuffling!

Shock at the lipgloss angels, I think I'd be having words in the future too which I can imagine you're not looking forward to.

MizK how old is Cassia now? I think our improvement in sleeping only happened regularly in the past week, dd 6 weeks now. I try dream feeding at about 11pm (sometimes) dd will either take it or ignore it, really depends on her mood I think!

Getting dd weighed today, looking forward to far more than is normal I think!

Come on with an update wiggles Wink

slowangels1 · 30/03/2011 11:17

ledkr another incident - would you stick up for a grandma who brought a 6 yr old perfume when the 6 yr old said her mum and dad would not let her have it and gma replied 'keep it a secret and hide it in your room so parents don't find out' or AIBU? And funnily enough my gma put sugar in my tea behind mums back too Wink - now that MUST be an acceptable gma thing Grin

ponyo alice is being weighed tomorrow and I've been looking forward all week Hmm - must have a sad life Wink . SHe looks like she's so much bigger I want to know how much she now weighs.

Bensmum76 · 30/03/2011 12:21

My nan used to sneak sugar in my tea too, and I hated it! She told me it would 'make the hair grow on my chest!'. I used to be very concerned about this!
Noah went from 7.15 until 1am which we were quite pleased with, then woke at 5 and 7.30 for feeds. Dh is going to feed him at 11pm to tonight to see if that will push him a bit further. Fingers crossed!
Ben is stillho e poorly today. I was dreading it but so far so good. I'm just hoping he'll let me nap with Noah after lunch, I can feel some bribery coming on!

americanexpat · 30/03/2011 12:35

Am I the only one whose baby won't sleep on his own? He'll sleep for about 30 minutes with a dummy but the second it falls out of his mouth, he fusses and wakes. I am very reluctantly cosleeping, would prefer not to but I'm desperate for sleep.

Yes to feeling fat. I'd lost weight right before getting pregnant and bought myself a lovely new wardrobe, now I've had to pull out my fat clothes from the back of the wardrobe. The breastfeeding counselor has told me to keep up my calorie intake so no chance of dieting anytime soon here. I do try to get out with the pram every day but I've not been to the gym yet.

EauRouge · 30/03/2011 13:43

Dunno, I'm co-sleeping too so I've never tried her on her own Grin Is there any reason why you don't want to co-sleep? It's perfectly safe if you follow the guide-lines and it doesn't create bad habits (actually it's very good for BFing) but some people hate it, it's a very personal thing! This is interesting reading.

You don't need loads of extra calories when BF but it's a good idea to wait a while before dieting so you can get things established and recover from the birth. I've been eating shitloads of creme eggs a few extra calories though, it's hungry work feeding 2 especially since DD1 is still doing the toddler regression thing and refusing to eat solid food Hmm

There's some good info on BF and dieting here

knittakid · 30/03/2011 13:49

I am bedsharing, if I had to get up every two hours I'd be dead by now. DH is still sleeping in the spare bedroom so it also works as family planning... as well as having my mum here Grin

How much formula are your babies taking? would you like to solely bf? perhaps expressing would help? I've been meaning to express since I got back from hospital but have no time and my nipples are a bit sore so I fear the machine!

Feeling much better, as you can probably tell, as I've actually read some posts!! sorry Blush

ledkr · 30/03/2011 14:13

Angels i was teasing you really,of course a mil should respect your wishes can you imagine me?Mind you pils are so stuffy it would probably be the other way around-her wiping off their gloss haha.
I often wonder how they will cope with having MY dd as THEIR gc,me and Ella both have wicked senses of humour and are very arty like music and dance and giggling, they are very formal and stuffy, the other l=kids in the extended family are all really high achievers and get up at 5am to do swimming practice etc...yawn.El would think i was insane f i woke her before 7am apart from to catch a plane haha.

Just got my baby whisperer book,i am going to attempt a slight routine i like her approach, its going to be tough to find time to read it tho.

I have to reiterate that the swing is a life saver for non put downers. She is asleep in it as we speak and i can see her trying to stir but the rocking keeps her sleeping, its great.

Whats wrong with Ben bm? Poor little man,i dont have naps as i never can sleep in the day,i went to see my elderly nan yesterday and we both snoozed in chairs whils D slept on me.

No vino last night healthy food today and no snacks tonight.I am determined to shift a few pounds before we go up to essex and see all of dh's stick thin orange family Sad

ledkr · 30/03/2011 14:42

knitta i have pm'd you, dont know if it will help Smile
Just off to attempt to take dd1 to ballet with dd2 in tow.Dinner is in the slow cooker,i feel like a proper Mum.No make up and frizzy hair tho,its a choice of what to do before i leave for school.

Bensmum76 · 30/03/2011 14:46

I've been cuddling up withNoah for one daytime nap and it is lovely but wouldn't want to co sleep at night. I dont think I could relax.
Angels, I'm interested to gear how you get your little one to sleep in her cot for naps. I honestly dont think Noah would and worry I'd spend o much time trying to get him to sleep that he'd miss out on naps. I kinda figure that I will go with the flow for the first few months then when he's about four months old will start sleep training. I've ordered the no cry sleep solutions book from Amazon.
Ledkr, Ben has a nasty cough and cold. I put him in front of a film and bribed him with chocolate so he would let me and Noah sleep and it worked! He's barely eaten since yesterday but managed o wolf down his magic stars!
He's now gone o sleep in my bed!

wigglesrock · 30/03/2011 21:06

I'm back, have finally departed Bridezilla land, never to return Wink. We had a great time, the girls were so good that I might have to buy out the Disney Store, ahh the joy of bribery based parenting Smile Sister and new hubby were so happy and there were absolutely no hiccups, a minor miracle in my family, not sure that's ever happened before, usually there's some kind of family falling-out, snub thing happening.

Am going to post a few photos on my profile soon, if I can remember how to!!

Anna was 6 weeks yesterday, and I feel that since her birth and getting ready for the wedding I haven't had any time to think about anything else, am fully expecting to have mini-meltdown this week. But really looking forward to getting time with the girls, Mr W and maybe cleaning my dirty house!! A is having her 6 week check on Fri, and have a date for her first round of innoculations the following week.

ILovePonyo · 30/03/2011 21:09

Had A weighed today, she weighs 8lb11oz - yay! Felt all proud at how well she's doing. Also she was so cute at the centre, had a bottle without fussing and looked round all wide eyed the rest of the time, I really enjoyed her today :)

Also I'm sure I nearly got a smile out of her earlier, it'll be this week I'm sure!

american dd fusses during the day if I try to put her down to sleep, but swaddling her at night has helped a lot, I think she is associating it with sleep now, also she flings her arms about a lot and wakes herself up and it stops that.

Am tempting fate having a wine before bed, heres hoping for a good nights sleep for us all

ILovePonyo · 30/03/2011 21:12

wiggles the wedding sounds lovely, glad you had a nice time :) Looking forward to seeing some photos.

Yes to the dirty house, mine is in need of a good clean but am only managing the basics (washingup, sterilizing bottles, some clothes washing) and feel quite pleased with that tbh!

tadjennyp · 30/03/2011 21:37

Glad you had a lovely time at the wedding wiggles. It does sound lovely.
Glad A was great for you today Ponyo. It's fab when they are like that. S is having a bad day, not helped by big brother and sister wanting to lean over him and kiss him whenever he is trying to go to sleep. He has his 2 month check and first lot of shots on Friday. It'll be the first time he's been weighed in nearly 7 weeks!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful evening and the babies sleep soundly.

ledkr · 30/03/2011 22:16

d is still pushing for her 7-8 o'clock bedtime, despite having a late kip when in her pram to go to ballet. She had her bath, which she loves since i ditched the sensible luke warm ones and went for a nice bum reddner, then screamed for a bottle, drank about 2 sucks and crashed out,i have left dh to attempt one of those "dream feeds" they speak of,i am sure it will back fire on us tho and she'l be up all night.
And i had 2 wines ponyo Hmm I find myself craving a glass most nights just to get thru the stressfull bedtimes.

slowangels1 · 30/03/2011 22:21

wiggles love the piccies - how sweet and angelic dds look Grin .

glad you had a good day ponyo. i had a friend over and alice was the model well behaved baby - she always is when this friend is over and i swear my friend doesn't believe me that she can be such hard work Hmm

did any one see the ch4 lilly allen docu last night? showed her post still birth and really made me cry watching her talk about it :(

i'd love to get around to more cleaning - we brought a carpet cleaning machine in jan but it didn't arrive until i was in hospital in feb and i still haven't managed to christen it - sadly i'm genuinely annoyed i haven't got around to testing it out

OP posts:
MizK · 31/03/2011 02:50

ponyo Cassia is 7wks on Sat so I'm hoping things will fall into place soon!

wiggles glad the wedding went well, now you can maybe relax a bit before turning your attention to cleaning etc!
ledkr I know what you mean re PILs - mine are lovely but the whole family are a little dry - don't socialise much, women cook clean and skivvy round while the men do DIY and obsessively watch football. I come from a huge rowdy family of Irish catholics, so am used to fun, loud, slightly bohemian types! My two DCs from prior relationship are v similar to me in that they are sarcastic, always laughing or chatting nonsense, and generally don't take life too seriously. Don't think PILs will be able to handle Cassia if she's like us! I remember once my MIL came over and I was cooking risotto drinking wine and reading vogue at about 8pm - she was put out as they eat at 6pm and also she had never had risotto that wasn't from a packet!! They are bloody odd but I kind of love it, I love telling my friends about the weird shit they do and say!
Hope none of you are awake to read this, and are all enjoying a fab nights sleep...

tadjennyp · 31/03/2011 06:42

Lovely photos wiggles!

ledkr · 31/03/2011 09:08

mizk why the bloody hell are you awake at that time? Are you abroad?
Im so glad you suffer like me,i just cant be myself with them and thats hard when the visits are always long and overnight. We all were at a family wedding and they actually ummed and ahed about having champers or orange juice.are they mad?I of course got stuck into the champers was talking 19 to the dozen, roaring with laughter at the speeches and then by the evening do was sneaking out for fags every now and then, probably thinking they wouldnt notice but of course i was stinking of them. When the mini bus dropped us off at our hotel at a sensible midnight,me and dh staggered off, produced a nicked off the table bottle of wine from under my coat and staggered off in the direction of the clubs swigging from the bottle. They were all looking out of the window like this Shock or Angry i think they blame me hehe

Not feeling massively partial to my baby today Grin she is still doing the annoying not settling after night feed so today my day started at 4.30!!!

wiggles the girls look so lovely, did Anna have a tiny bridesmaid dress? The spanx are comfy arent they?

ILovePonyo · 31/03/2011 09:11

angels for a few weeks dd was always beautifully behaved whenever people came over or I went out - I used to get fed up with people saying how lucky I was and how good she was as they didn't see her screaming or fussing with her food for ages. It used to make me feel a bit resentful (right word?) of her which is stupid but that was how I felt Blush
Anyway recently the infant gaviscon started helping and she was fussing a bit more when my mum and a couple if friends visited which made me feel a bit more sane :)

MizK see you were up in the night :( Hope things do start to change for you soon. Also hoping you're getting some naps in the day or early evening?

good luck for the shots on friday tadjenny, I'm bloody dreading it when I have to take dd for hers, I'll probably cry!

ledkr last night I had 2 wines too, dd had been crying for most of the evening so when dp had her thats when I had mine! Think she may have been over tired tbh. Anyway theres nothing wrong with having some vino after a stressful day :)

Very sweet photos wiggles

wigglesrock · 31/03/2011 09:39

Ledkr Anna did have a tiny dress, we weren't going to bother but little sister surprised us with one, Anna slept the whole day and through most of the meal, so while the photographer has pictures of her, I wouldn't let anyone wake her for a photo Grin Didn't have to use the Spanx but think that' s more to do with the cut of the dress than any actual shape of my body!!!

Know what you all mean about differing in-law ideas, my in-laws are great but they don't get that we eat after 6ish!! Funny enough my sisters new in-laws are very different from our family. We are quite argumentative, can be quite rowdy, lots of women, the men on my mums side tend to die early, the only way out as my dad often mentions Grin, they all like a drink etc, my mum is probably the only woman in the world who could cater a wedding or a wake with the amount of wine in her garage, she only buys wine by the case and fools herself into thinking its much more economical Smile.

Taking dd2 to GP, I think she has a throat infection, I had to have my tonsils out when I was 6 and I have a funny feeling she may have my tendency for sore throats Sad

Bensmum76 · 31/03/2011 09:43

Ledkr, glad I'm not the only one who's baby starts their day early. Noah fed at 3.30am then was awake and squeaking and cooing until 5.30ish when he started crying and I brought him into bed with me. He went straight to sleep until 7.30! I'm really hoping at some point he starts sleeping after his early morning feed or gives it up all together.
Last night dh slept in the spare room and I slept in our bedroom with Noah. My word he's a noisy sleeper! Even when he was asleep he kept e awake so am very tired today! Were thinking of putting him in his own room as neither myself or dh are getting any sleep!

Bensmum76 · 31/03/2011 09:44

Gorgeous pics by the way Wiggles!

ledkr · 31/03/2011 09:52

thing is tho,d is asleep, she is just grunty and wriggly,i think its reflux, bloody reflux.

Wiggles dh is meeting with inspectors today to request not working 4 x 4-midnight is not feasable with a baby on meds with special feeding requirements.Bet they take no notice tho.

Kez84 · 31/03/2011 11:15

HI, sorry haven't posted for a while, i don't know where the weeks go. Ds is 5 weeks old today and we had our postnatal check which went well except that my csec scar is infected.
He is gaining weight like crazy and is now 11lb 5. He is really tall and has big feet and we also have the problem that he's almost grown lengthways out of 0-3 babygrows.
We are still waking every 2 hours through the night still which is tiring and sometimes taking an hour to go back down. We moved him into a sleeping bag and he does seem to settle better. He's breastfeeding well so we can't have everything:)
Glad you are all getting on well and sorry about some of the problems some of you are having. I'm going to try and get better at posting as reading other peoples advice and experience is so helpful.
Hope you all have a good day :)
