Morning all, jane am wishing you all the best for when you go back to work, I can't imagine how tough it must feel. I can't believe people are so insensitive to whisper etc about you when you've been out, I know people find it difficult to know how to act around someone who has had a bereavement but FGS! I think it would be great if you could talk to them about Zoe but I know it might be easier said than done...

angels I use a dummy for dd (despite my mum telling me I shouldn't) - a friend of mine got her 2 year old to give hers up using sticker charts so I'm thinking of using that way into the future! I agree with ledkr, if it makes things easier then why not Grin
Also re: reflux, I think the gaviscon is helping, she seems much more chilled out during feeding and (sometimes) lying on her back. But I'm also thinking it might just be that shes getting bigger and more used to things in general? Am constantly Confused and doubting myself.

Hope wiggles is having a nice chilled out day at the wedding today Wink

Oh and I think dd knows when we are about to have our tea because thats when she starts crying to be picked up - how do they know?!

ILovePonyo · 29/03/2011 09:40

Oh yeah, here's some lovely news for you, which some may consider tmi but I don't Grin - I have piles Blush Shock

Well actually just one pile apparently. The doctor confirmed this after putting her finger up my bum, lovely. Even worse, its prob not from giving birth but from the fact that my diet has been so rubbish since having dd (living off biscuits and tea basically!).

So there you go, bet you all wanted to know that this morning Grin

wigglesrock · 29/03/2011 10:16

Hello, have escaped from the land of Bridezilla for a few minutes Grin Sister is at hairdressers, flowers have been delivered, have had sneaky cig, mother is driving me mad, dad is so laid back is practically horizontal and is driving me madder!!. DD1 is at school, dd2 is at in-laws, Mr W has Anna at home, and still I don't have 2 mins for myself Grin

Do you think its a bad omen that weddings drive me mad and I have 3 dds Grin. Thanks for all your good luck vibes, would really appreciate you sending some more when I'm trying to squeeze into my dress in a few hours. Hello Spanx xxxxxx

slowangels1 · 29/03/2011 10:40

good luck vibes heading your way wiggles and hope your DDs (who I think might be being bridesmaids unless I've forgotten wrong) dont do what my little bridesmaid did and tread on the back of my wedding dress as I was walking down the isle Shock . Could have been nasty Wink

re: dummies my hv told me we should stop at 6 months - something to do with speech development which is why i dont want to overuse it and I don't think a sticker chart would work with a 6 month old Hmm

OP posts:
ledkr · 29/03/2011 11:00

oh blah blah hv Grin thats only if they have it in all the time, just use it to settle her and remove when happy.

Wiggles, sounds hilarious,i was so drunk the night b4 my wedding that i nearly didnt go Shock have a Wine and another fag and relax.
My dd's will not be getting married as there are no decent enough men for them,

Ponyo-congrats on the piles, how marvelous for you.
I have vaginal thrush if it helps, just went to the pharmacy and had to ask for "something for thrush" with a line of old duffers behind me.

debka · 29/03/2011 11:10

Do you know I think I may have had 8 hours sleep last night??? OK, it was 6 hours then feed then one hour then another feed then another hour and the last two hours I was holding a pillow over my head but EVEN SO!!!

ponyo welcome to the piles club I have them too but am too wussy to go to the drs!

Gorgeous day here, all daffodils and greenness, I love spring :)

EauRouge · 29/03/2011 11:14

I'm in the club too, although mine are getting better. I got them in pregnancy and they got worse during labour.

Well, A is definitely a better sleeper than her big sister but I wish they wouldn't take it in turns to wake up Hmm

I have a weird question- how big are your baby's feet? A has gone into 3-6 month baby grows because her feet are too massive to fit into 0-3 month ones lol. She's got long legs too but the top part is baggy and massive. DD1 had the opposite problem, a big chubby tummy and stubby legs (she takes after me).

Gorgeous day here too, I'm going to take the girls out for a nice long walk.

Bensmum76 · 29/03/2011 11:28

Debka and Eau where are you? It's bloody raining here! Plus Ben has been sent home from nursery with a temperature. He has a cough and cold but I sent him in anyway! Oops bad parent!

ledkr · 29/03/2011 12:03

bensmum when i was a single parent,i was just dropping off dd and i thought i saw a spot on her head, fearing they would turn her away with poss chicken pox i carefully applied some concealer to her spot Shock
I may add this was before people were hysterical about chicken pox.
She didnt have it in the end but i would have been in big trouble had i not gone in to work as was in charge of an 18 bedded ward.

Am actually dreading all the childhood illnesses again,i have done them 4 bloody times already, and i have had chicken pox 3x !!

knittakid · 29/03/2011 12:17

Grin tarlia don't appologize! i didn't feel that at all!

wandering I feel just like that, specially as having had a c-sec he was really 'handed' to me!

Have not said before but my mum is here for two weeks (one week gone) and she's driving me mad! it's awful because it's great to have another pair of hands, but I need space! particularly frustrating is not beoign able to cry whenever I fancy it! how pathetic.

ledkr am still looking forward to your message, so don't think it's too late.

still have not read all your posts, sorry for being so self-centered.

slowangels1 · 29/03/2011 12:19

I thought you could only get the pox once Shock

bens hope ben feels better soon. Big Brew and Biscuit for you

eau can't help on the big feet afraid as Alice has inherited the two pin plug figure from her mum Wink

looks like rain here :(

OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 29/03/2011 13:02

deb I wouldn't bother going to the docs if I were you unless they're really bad or you like having someones finger up your bum Hmm

eau yes to the long feet! d's feet have been fitting into her babygros for weeks now when they babygros are too big for the rest of her, so they're all baggy except for the feet which are now getting a bit tight. I have to make sure I stretch the feet on them after I wash them in case they shrink. She;s also got really long fingers?

have a Wine for me wiggles Grin

ledkr · 29/03/2011 13:50

just get some anusol for your piles, from chemist and make sure you dont get constipated.
dd is annoying today, half a feed, sleep on lap wake up as soon as pit down and then start cycle again Grin off out for a drive

PinkElephant73 · 29/03/2011 14:37

Angels I wouldn't listen to the hv about the dummy, if it helps your dd settle then there is nothing wrong with her having it after 6 months just take it off her after nap times etc .

Ponyo ouch re gp! Anusol works really well for piles. I have been for 6 week check today. am currently wincing after a very rough sorry thorough examination of my separated stomach muscles, felt like gp was looking for her car keys in my belly. She has referred me to obstetric physio. She wasn't overly pleased that I declined to discuss my contraceptive plans with her though, but I knew I would get a lecture from her if I told her we use the withdrawal method, even though it's worked for us for the last 17 years :)

EauRouge · 29/03/2011 15:00

You can take lactulose if you are BF, it works well but if you are also on antibiotics for mastitis then you need to be careful and read the side effects just in case you end up going through 2 loo rolls in one night Blush and yes, anusol does work well.

Speaking of contraception, has anyone done the deed with their OH yet? I've recovered a lot more quickly this time and think I could definitely get in the mood but by the time the evening comes around and both the girls are asleep I'm too knackered :(

pinkelephant, hope the physio goes well and is a bit more gentle than your GP!

ledkr · 29/03/2011 15:06

we had a few trysts but im right off it now due to lack of sleep and flabby body tbh.yes my gp seems determined to make me fill my body with hormones, ive already had breast cancer so wont,we are ok with withdrawl and the odd condom, wont be doing it much this year anyway haha.
does anyone swing from feeling all loving towards dh or a kind of spitefull indifference Grin

Bensmum76 · 29/03/2011 15:47

Ledkr, I'm finding that I'm a wee but bitter towards dh at the moment as he still gets to go to work, went running at the weekend and is still studying for his degree! I feel I am definitely the main caregiver and have given up way more than he had. I don't think we' ll be having relations for a while!!

americanexpat · 29/03/2011 16:21

Yes to the babies with big feet! L has long fingers and toes like his father. He's grown out of a few newborn babygros, but only in the feet.

DH and are not "back in the saddle" yet and my stitches are making me very wary of any activity. I saw the GP yesterday for my 6 week check and asked about a diaphragm/cervical cap and she suggested I make an appt with the family planning clinic as it's so rarely used that no one in the surgery could fit one. I'm not keen to use anything hormonal at the moment. Currently, a very clingy baby is working just fine as contraception.

angels - I'm wondering how breastfeeding is going for you? Are you still topping up with formula? I don't think we'll ever get completely off formula Sad so I hope it's going well for you.

slowangels1 · 29/03/2011 17:09

Agree totally with expat in that clingy babies are a great contraceptive Wink . Also I'm wary of activity because of scar, but, not sure if I have any fact to base this concern on Hmm

Spoke to GP yesterday about possibility of having a copper coil fitted as I am refusing to go back on any kind of hormone as they really upset me and I'm allergic to latex so barrier methods are tricky. I'm a bit scared about copper coil though as I've read lots of things on mn about people getting side effects like bloating, mood swings, headaches etc but they never list these on the 'official' side effects lists I read Hmm

expat we are off the top up formula feeds now Grin . Just doing one whole bottle feed in the night that DH can do to give me a break. It's working pretty well for us at the minute. I tried expressing earlier to see if I could get a bottle full to freeze should I want to go out and dump thoughtfully leave DD with DH for quality time together but alas only got 30 mls out - not sure that will last long with her Wink . It did take DD a week or so to adapt to not having the top up feeds though - we started off doing top up only every other feed and then only in evening feeds and then stopped top up all together.

OP posts:
tadjennyp · 29/03/2011 17:13

Ouch to all the piles! Dh gets mine for me [evil cackle emoticon] Well I have all the other pains to contend with! Grin

We've done it a couple of times already and I am going to have an IUD fitted in a few weeks time. It lasts for 3 years and is quite expensive and dh thinks we wouldn't spent that amount on condoms in that time! We'll just have to get our money's worth then, won't we? Wink (I'm thinking further down the line, as having a 5year old, 3 years old and a baby saps my energy completely quite a lot).

Ds 2 has his 2 month check on Friday which will be the first time he's been weighed since he was 10 days old! I'm desperate to know how much he's put on.

Hope Wiggles is having a lovely time at bridezilla sister's wedding.

tadjennyp · 29/03/2011 17:15

Glad your breastfeeding is working out for you now angels. Don't feel guilty about top-ups expat, your baby getting enough food is what really matters. You are doing so well for persevering, anyway.

MizK · 30/03/2011 02:49

Hi all, haven't posted for ages but just been catching up as I sit in the dark waiting for Cassia to bring up all her wind... As you can see from the time of my post we are nowhere near sleeping through yet, waa! She is over 10 pounds now so surely capable of a good stretch in the night? Are any of you dream feeding? Might give it a go I think, just to minimise being woken. Hate being wrenched from sleep!
Looking forward to hearing all about wiggles sisters wedding, how impressive to be wearing a posh frock so soon after giving birth!
I am still so fat, v depressing. None of my clothes fit and I have tanned myself to the colour of a rotting pumpkin to try to mask my poundage! Not feeling too good about my appearance right now. I can't wait to get the go ahead to start exercising again, hopefully swimming should sort me out. Has anyone braved the gym yet?

tadjennyp · 30/03/2011 04:41

I went on the treadmill on Sunday for 25 mins - just walking, not running yet. I have started doing the Davina DVD which seems quite good and is in short stretches so you can break to deal with the baby etc.

ledkr · 30/03/2011 07:16

*mizk( nothing fits me either,i feel really fed up as summer approaches, have the Davina dvd but no time or energy to do it.I also have a bad habit of having a glass of wine each night just to get thru bedtimes and also a treat in bed when i finally get into it,i resisted the wine yesterday and plan to not have a treat tonight.I seem to have sucha lot of

slowangels1 · 30/03/2011 09:43

don't think I could even walk on treadmill for 25 mins jenny Envy as my scar hurts so easily. Think I'm stuck in this flabby state for quite some time. Anyone else get this with their scar? I concur with mizk re: feeling depressed and fat.

Alice slept from 11pm - 7am with only one feed in between so am feeling quite Grin today. We've decided to move her at nights from moses basket to cot as she's sleeping well in the day in the cot and the matress is much better and more supportive in the cot

Wonder how wiggles got on Hmm

Found out MIL had been putting lipgloss on her other grand daughters (who are 5 and 8) last week end for a photo shoot which was against grand daughters parents wishes - have many incidents of MIL going against their wishes and sneaking it with 'shhh, don't tell mum and dad' type comments to her and feel quite Shock and Confused that she will (and she will!) do this with our DD as I find it completely inappropriate. One day there will be words I fear Hmm.
