hurree oldiemum, I feel a bit "better" now, I am only 42y old....

Bit horrible as feeling hungry and sick at the same time.

OldieMum · 12/12/2005 17:23

Too sick to cook, but eating makes the sickness better? Wierd, isn't it?

lilianna · 12/12/2005 17:23

im prob one of the youngest on this thread only ive not left my facts due to mumsnetters thinking bad of me because of my kids and all our ages.

lilianna · 12/12/2005 17:25

is anyone else not being able to eat properly because of feeling totally sick always wanting to sleep and with no energy?

OldieMum · 12/12/2005 17:26

Lilianna - I very much regret not having had children long before this. I had years of fertility treatment and faced the real prospect of never having children. Don't feel bad - feel lucky!

OldieMum · 12/12/2005 17:28

To answer your question - I didn't eat much this weekend, because of nausea and, as I said, I felt too sick to cook. DH took things in hand and made me a lovely meal yesterday. This is such a crucial time for babies' development, so I'm now making a real effort to eat well.

lilianna · 12/12/2005 17:28

im sorry to hear that you needed to have treatment but glad to hear your pg. that must have been fantastic news for you. im the opposite cant stop falling pg.

OldieMum · 12/12/2005 17:30

Thanks, lilianna. I had DD after 6 IVF cycles, but this one is home-made - we're stunned.

maewest · 12/12/2005 17:30

Hi ladies, been offline over the weekend. My granddad died early on Friday morning so I've been at my parents. It feels odd having sad & happy thoughts mixed in at this time.

Good news is that I have my booking appt on 5 Jan, makes it feel abit more real.

Hope everyone else is ok.

lilianna · 12/12/2005 17:30

honestly my poor dp must be starving i cant smell food or look at it without feeling sick so i havent cooked for 3weeks

lilianna · 12/12/2005 17:32

sorry to hear about your grandad.

lilianna · 12/12/2005 17:33

wow home made that must be wonderful i am really happy for you

OldieMum · 12/12/2005 17:33

So sorry to hear your news, Maewest. It's so strange to deal with bereavement when you're pg, I know, as it has also happened to me, both this time and last time.

maewest · 12/12/2005 17:35

thanks for your words

IamBlossom · 12/12/2005 19:01

Sorry maewest that's rotten.

Lilianna, you shouldn't think any Mum's netters will look down on you, what gives them the right to cast judgement and I'm sure no one would. congratulations on your latest pregnancy, do you feel the same as you did in previous ones?

Oldiemum that's miraculous, congratulations! How amazing! You hear stories like that but I've never "known" anyone it's happpened to. had you and DH given up?

monkeychops · 12/12/2005 19:13

I think you have your nuchal scan tomorrow HC ?
If so good luck and let us know how it went x

Hope you got on well with your scan today Kbaby

I am 9+1 weeks and I am feeling worse and worse... I keep getting headaches - sometimes migraines which are all over my face which seems to make the nausea even worse!
Anyone else suffering from headaches, or have done in previous pregnancies?

Straightforward · 12/12/2005 19:32

Maewest - sorry to hear of your loss

Monkeychops - weird you mentioned that as I've been getting quite a few headaches recently, including one that really struck me down for a good few hours. I thought it was odd, as I don't normally get lots of them, but hadn't considered it pg related.

On the subject of weird and wonderful symptoms, does anyone else get madly itchy legs when they're pg? I had it last time and it's back - keeps me awake at night and drives me crazy!

HumphreysCorner · 12/12/2005 20:57

Evening ladies

maewest-I'm so sorry to hear about your grandad hun. My thoughts are with you and your family. ((xx))

kbaby-any news hun? ((xx))

Yes, my dating scan is tomorrow at 9-05am-got to go back to work after so I'll let you all know how it went tomorrow night. To be honest I feel sick with worry-well, I feel sick anyway. The sickness seems really bad at the moment that is not envy it is how I'm feeling at the moment.

Every little thing seems to niggle me lately-ggggggrrrrrrhhhhhhh to everything! My house insurance company has suddenly decided that the Environmental Agency has classed us as being in a high risk flood area and have written to ask me to contact them to confirm this. If they already know then why do I have to ring FFS!!!!! They want a reply within 7 days-I've enough to worry about!

Must go and make a hot chocolate to curb this horrid nausea-not going to be able to sleep tonight anyway.

Love to all and I'll speak tomorrow night.

Straightforward-have been having really bad headaches-think I've overdosed on paracetamol. I put it down to having an upset stomach due to nausea-had it worse with DD because the sickness was much worse. Just keep nibbling and drinking fluids and it should help. ((xx))

Maewest - sorry to hear about your Grandad.

As for pg symptoms, I'm afraid that other than eating like a pig and having gone up a size in clothes already , I've not really got any symptoms. I do feel for the rest of you. I had worse nausea last time around and bought two different types of homeopathic remedy. Never actually dared to use either, they just sat in my handbag!

Lilianna, I hope you didn't mind me teasing the others about being youths. I second what Iamblossom said. I particularly don't think that you would get any bad comments about your age on this thread. But don't feel that you have to tell us how old you are!

Hope everybody else is (as) well (as can be expected)!

jamiesam · 12/12/2005 21:27

HumphreysCorner - did you know that you can view flood maps on the environment agency website - just put your postcode in - here

OldieMum · 12/12/2005 21:36

Iamblossom - I suppose we had given up. We had quite a store of frozen embryos left after our six attempts to get DD and we went through three more cycles, using these, after she was born. Last spring, we were told by staff at the fertility unit that our chances of success with a further cycle, using fresh embryos, were now under 5% and that our only option would be to find a donor egg. We hadn't made a definite decision not to try to find a donor, but I think, in fact, that we would not have been able to face it. I was also very worried that I might feel differently about this child, introducing an inequality in my feelings towards the children. Of course, I might have been wrong about this, but I'll never know. We had always kept trying to conceive the old-fashioned way, so this pregnancy is not a complete fluke, but the probabilities must be mind-boggling.

kbaby · 12/12/2005 22:54

argh just lost my message..

Yeahhhh the scan went really well and we could see the baby with its little heart beating away. We are so relieved. They did say I am a week less so I guess im about 7+2.

jersey · 13/12/2005 08:41

Congrats KBaby on the scan can't wait for mine.

Good luck HC for today will be waiting for your message.

Sorry about for Grandad maewest I'm sure he will be watching over you and your little one.

Lilianna whatever has been said on other threads we do not make judgements on this one so welcome and hope you enjoy your pregnancy. Congrats Oldiemum on your preg. I guess your body remembered from last time as to what it should be doing, I have heard it can happen after an IVF!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

xmasspub · 13/12/2005 08:44

Kbaby - truly delighted for you!
Fantastic news.
Trust everyone else is well?
I am bone weary at 11+4. Having moments of quease but on the whole just knackered. Have today, tomorrow then Mon and Tues at work then not back til 9th January. Bliss.
Work Xmas do tomorrow night. I'll be driving so that's my excuse for no booze!
Am finding it increasingly hard to fit into any clothes yet my mat gear is slightly too big. AAArgh! Don't want to buy normal clothes a size up as it seems a waste of cash!
The joys!
Maewest - sorry for your loss
Oldiemum - no one is here to judge. We're all just hoping for the best for our babies and I think it's awesome that you conceived despite all of your setbacks. FWIW, I'm 35!
