We are thinking Alexander or Alexandra depending on gender. The jury is out on the middle names but we are doing better than last time since we only picked names 2 days after I was due... and then used none of them. Our daughter became Hazel because we called her peanut while I was pregnant. We joked that if she was a boy we'd call her Cashew and Macadamia if she was a girl... a friend jokingly suggested Hazelnut and we laughed at the time.

My scan and booking apt is on Thurs so I'm looking forward to that. Got to get moving here now. I want to get to the hospital for their drop-in ante-natal physio clinic... maybe it should be hobble-in?

Anu3 · 28/03/2011 11:26

Morning all - Ive had a bout of feeling very very nauseous this morning. I was travelling to work by the underground and got really hot - I had to get off at one point to throw up :( I havent felt like this since week 14!!! iM 21+3 today and feeling so drained now sitting here at work. I do hope this was just a one off and its not the sickness coming back :(

On a more positive note I have my scan tomorrow - So cant wait :) Im so excited but also a bit nervous - Hope all is well - Wish me luck ladies!!

More tomorrow xx

alibaba76 · 28/03/2011 11:41

Anu3 Good luck tomorrow.
Mine is on Thursday, but yesterday and today I feel less pregnant than ever. Feeling kind of "normal" and tummy is smaller/less bloated. Is this just signs of feeling better in the pregnancy or does it mean something is wrong. I am so worried and trying to keep it together. Just want to fast-forward to Thursday to find out that hopefully everything is fine... :(

Pashazade · 28/03/2011 12:16

Hi alibaba I've got my 20 week scan tomorrow and feeling similar to you. Doing my best not to fret although I'm sure there will be tears at bedtime tonight. But equally sure everything is fine, I'm sure you'll be ok too. :)

FeralGirlCambs · 28/03/2011 14:04

Hello everyone! Hope your scan goes well Anu - wonder if the nerves are making you feel pukey? And good luck to others about to have scans too! Yukana - hope you're ok now.

I have a repeat scan this afternoon as they could not see to get one measurement last time I went. Still team yellow so hoping no willies are overtly being waved! As I know 90% of checks were done and ok last time (it's just the coronary blood vessels that need checking) I'm really looking forward to this one without too many nerves - touch every wooden object in sight - it'll be nice to get a sneaky extra look!

Anmyone know anything about Braxton Hicks? I've been experiencing slight 'contractions' - not at all painful or unpleasant. A bit like orgasm contractions, I suppose (Blush) only without the nice bit! Could this be BH? I'm nearly 22 weeks.

wishwales · 28/03/2011 17:02

It's a GIRL for me. I am so excited. Is this cause to get my shopping on?? I think so. All was well in the scan as well. I feel like I have been given the biggest gift possible.

MrsVidic · 28/03/2011 17:54

Braxton hicks feel like your uterus contracts then releases, they can be caused by orgasms, I often got them last time during sex which freaked me out the first few times ! Ferelgirl

Congratulations Wishwales you can now shop till you drop! I recommend next and marks and spencers if you want outfits not all pink!

Good luck for all those with scans tomorrow!

I'm being kicked loads too, it seems baby likes it when dd sits on my knee as she kicks hard then! Either that ir she's getting squashed by toddler kicks!

I have now decided on the nipper 360 so will be scouring eBay!

I have been craving ice Lollies a lot and can't get enough of refresher ones, which I don't mind as they're only 56 calories each !

wheresmytractor · 28/03/2011 19:48

Hi ladies,

All ok here, headaches started up again though so in bed early trying to calm it down. feralgirl ive had BH from about this stage with my last 2 babies so perfectly normal, they do feel a bit strange though.

nhan I can fully understand how annoying the old hoping for a girl comments are..... I have 2 boys and with the second i almost got pity! (a couple of people actually said never mind!!Angry) My 2 boys are gorgeous, and my second boy is just the sweetest most laid back chap I could ever have wished for. Plus the same gender will get on really well (fingers crossed)

I have a girl on the way now and when i heard girl there was a part of me sad to not have all boys, I would have been very happy with all boys.

People get so hung up on gender and having the perfect family with one of each. grrrrr.

Take care all x

LifeOfKate · 28/03/2011 20:24

Hi All,

Just wanted to say that I hope this weeks scans go well, it's so nervewracking, I'm so glad mine is over! Just got to wait until 28 weeks for my next appointment Hmm Do they somehow think 2nd time mums are less paranoid?! Confused

bettyboo83 · 28/03/2011 22:05

Scan tomorrow for me too, fx everyone xxx

Bryher · 28/03/2011 23:46

Thanks to all for you responses re scan news :)

JenniL I've still not felt much, but am getting the odd flutter now which may be baby! I wish he'd start moving properly for reassurance. Sorry you've got to wait so long for scan, it drove me mad waiting for mine, hope you start feeling yours move soon! Am also totally baffled by car seats and pushchairs, but am thinking of getting a BeSafe Izi Combi X3 car seat which will last from 6 months to 4 years old and stays rearfacing which is safer. www.paulstride.co.uk/group-0-1/besafe-izi-combi-x3-2054390-25703-750998.php I'm going to use a second hand Graco from my cousin for first 6 months and spend the money on something which will last a bit longer. Still no idea on pushchairs though, but I've gone off the travel system idea as too heavy and expensive for only ~9 months use.

CappucinoCarrie I much prefer your taste in names to your DH's! Winston?

Welcome WYorksLass, I grew up in Bradford but in Durham now!

Firawla Great news about your scan :) 3 boys - wow! I am nervous about having just one ;) I love the name Ayyash, have you talked DH round yet? Hope that weird eye thing has gone away now. I've heard that can be a warning sign for pre-eclampsia (and other things I'm sure) so if it keeps happening you should prop check with midwife.

Anu3 I keep ending up on my back despite best efforts and a Dreamgenii pillow. I think in later stages it can limit oxygen to you and / or baby, but it shouldn't be a problem at this stage. Apparently from second trimester if you can sleep on left side it can encourage baby into best position for birth, i.e. head down, so I am going to keep trying to sleep that way. Hopefully I will stop rolling on back eventually!

KTisPG thanks for the BF advice, will remember that as really want to try and get BF to work out! My faves out of your names are Matthew, Edward and Patrick (DH took Patrick off our shortlist :( ), I do tend to go for popular more than unusual though. I am with you on struggling with boys' names.

neverlookback how frustrating you had to wait 1.5 hours just to be told that! At least it sounds like they're not going to hassle you too much from now on

Rehune my breathing has is a bit shallower, but am asthmatic anyway so not sure how much to put down to that and how much down to pregnancy.

MrsStevo great news on scan, must be amazing to see two in there :) I empathise with the breathing thing, I hate it when my DH breathes on me (not just while pg), it gives me goose bumps for some reason.

wheresmytractor hope you have recovered from physio now, sounds nasty. I love Esme.

Annie I like Emily Rose; and Thomas (it's on our rather long shortlist...)

LifeofKate great news on scan. I panic before them, it's such a relief to get them over and find out all is OK. I now have quite a long shortlist for boys' names, but none of them are leaping out at us.

alibaba hip pain sounds nasty :( Hope you are feeling better now. I had same thing with not feeling pregnant at all before scan, and worrying cos I felt no movement, but was happy to see LO wriggling away in there, am sure you'll be the same. Good luck for Thursday.

jspark congrats on scan, and little boy news! I feel your pain re boys' names, they are so much harder

aStar I love Edmund, but my DH took that off the shortlist too. Congrats on your scan and girl news - that'll make the names easier!

NHAN great news on scan :)

MrsVidic I like Emily, Lilly and Ellie, not sure about Daisy for some reason but can't say why. I fancy the Nipper 360 too, been looking at ebay but hardly any single ones in our area, will have to keep looking.

bettyboo good luck with scan tomorrow!

Yukana Sorry to hear WoW is still causing trouble :( Any progress on the Uni/college course plans for him?

Hersetta I like Alex, Alexander is on shortlist but maybe with Sandy for short. We are getting family pressure for John as middle name(DH's family tradition) but I like other names more, plus my Dad wants Ian, which is his name, so someone will be upset! Andrew sounds a lovely gesture for your DH's friend, that's v sad.

nickstermum the only lionesque thing I can think of at the moment is names from the Lion King - Mufasa, Simba etc, which I'm not sure is what you have in mind LOL.

kathpeak I love your reason for calling daughter Hazel, and what a lovely name :)

Anu good luck with scan tomorrow! Hope you feel better now. I still get the sickness on and off, but nowhere near as much as first trimester thank heaven.

Pashazade I felt the same before my scan but all was fine, good luck tomorrow.

wishwales yay for scan news and little girl :)

Good luck all with scans coming up

Sorry this is so epic, really must try and come on here every day to catch up!

Firawla · 29/03/2011 08:27

yup the eye thing has gone now, only happened that one day and didnt come back luckily. i had pre eclamsia with my first i hope i dont get it again, was quite ill after the birth and my ds was too :(

Yukana · 29/03/2011 09:34

FeralGirl & LadyGoneGaga
Thank you. We've talked and he's been making more of an effort to give me hugs and cuddles before bed, he gets up earlier and also listens to me more in regards to WoW. In exchange I've done my best to understand him and let him enjoy himself.

Bryher
We contacted the course (part-time engineering), sadly I don't think we will be able to afford it. They said they don't do any kind of reduced fee even for those on low income/benefits. Plus, because we live very much in a rural area, by the time he gets to the course via bus (there is only one bus service in our village every two hours) and then by train after, he'll be twenty minutes late for the course. It's unfortunate and DP was very much looking forward to the course.

Sorry for the previous horribly depressing post. Blush I'm okay, and we've found ourselves a house, have the deposit, so we'll have the keys next week! We don't exactly have a fortune to spend on getting the place nice, but hey, it's a place and in my younger years I bought furniture for myself anyway. We also have a pram now and a cot on it's way. Feeling much brighter. :)
