glad your scan went well Bryher, mine was fine too and we are also having a boy! so that will be 3 boys for me now, i hope they will all get on nicely and play together. the boys name I am thinking of is Ayyash but i think my dh does not want to go with it so will have to see. Atleast now we know boy we can just focus on that rather than trying to chose a name for either, although I'm wondering whether to have a private scan to just double check it? because she seemed to check pretty quick! my last 2 they had more of a proper look before they said, and my 2nd i saw for myself that it was a boy. Also cos my dh couldn't come to the scan might do another one on a weekend, but we will see..

Rehune ewww @ weird pregnancy fetish people, luckily I have never come across any of those myself.

welcome wyorks

and jenniL congrats on moving house, thats great! I am still looking for new flat to rent but its so hard to find something decent so prob will be looking ages

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 23/03/2011 16:02

Great news Firawla. Three boys eh? They will be brilliant noisy energetic together Grin

Firawla · 23/03/2011 16:14

yeah, i can just imagine the amount of noise they could make even my 2 make enough noise just the 2 of them! (they both crawling round the room together now screaming and laughing) but i hope this one gets on with them as well as the other 2 then it will be lovely.

Anu3 · 23/03/2011 16:25

Congratulations to all you ladies who've had their scans! Mine is exactly a week away and im getting very very impatient!!

Still unsure if we'll find out the gender cause still at loggerheads with DH!!! I want to know and he doesnt, so will see how that plays :)

Do any you have a problem sleeping on your side. I was fine until the last week but now i find i keep waking up on my back. It doesnt bother me but ive been told its not good for the baby. Is that true? I find it very uncomfortable to sleep on the sides all the time :(

KLou111 · 23/03/2011 17:31

Welcome Wyorks and congrats!! :)

I quite like Heath Jenni, Heath Ledger springs to mind and he was lush :)

Anu I got nowhere with DH not wanting to know so we didn't find out, and I am glad we didn't now. Will make it all the more special at the birth as I want HIM to tell me what we have had.
Apparently the reason it's not good sleeping on your back is that the baby lies on a major blood vessel or something like that Hmm
Best to lie on your left, but I think it's only when baby is bigger it's a prob on your back.
I'm still moving between my belly and my side at the mo, but not looking forward to having to lie on my side all the time though.

littlemisslozza · 23/03/2011 18:23

Congratulations on your boys Bryher and Firawla! I have a feeling mine is a blue bump too, although won't find out until baby is born. I'm sure your three boys will have such fun together Firawla, I keep thinking that in 10-15 years my two boys (possibly three) are probably going to be taller than me! You get to re-use all your gorgeous baby boy clothes too, I love getting them all back out, although going a shopping spree for some new ones (if we have a girl) would also be nice!

Firawla · 23/03/2011 19:04

yeah it will be so weird to have them taller than me! but i'm sure mine will because they are for some reason quite tall even though me and dh are both short, especially ds2 even when he was born he was a super tall baby! i think maybe this one will be too because bump is big. it will be nice to reuse the stuff it always reminds of when the others were little, i did have a look through the other day and was thinking aww this is the babygrow ds1 wore first day he was born, this is ds2's first one etc, and the little shoes.. makes me go all mushy :D
i told ds1 that its a boy baby, and showed him scan pic today although he was not particularly interested but oh well, i suppose what can you expect from a 2 yr old!

nickstermum · 23/03/2011 19:31

Congrats on the scans, lovely news the beans are all lively and healthy:) congrats on the team blues, pinks and yellows!

Loving the names.
Erin a particular favourite, liked willow til i heard that awful song/rap thing by Will smiths daughter willow - kind of put me off!! :) Iris i love, and violet too.
Heath is nice, will it be Heathie though? Freya is quite popular these days i think.

I quite liked Shelby for a girl til my friend told me it sounded like a hooker!! Also liking Neve which is what we chose last time.
I have 1 boy already and i struggled last time, cannot think of any boys names at all.....!! Might have to venture onto the babynames fred for inspiration!

CappuccinoCarrie · 23/03/2011 19:36

nickster we have very similar taste in names, Neve has been on our lists every time too!

KTisPG · 23/03/2011 20:11

Congratulations on all the scans, am very Envy

Welcome westyorks I'm in West Yorks too, near Huddersfield and I'm 18+4 today.

Neverlookback you don't have to have consultant care if you don't want to - you can also decline induction or section if you feel it is the right thing for you.

I was supposed to be under consultant care as my BMI is 31 and I had shoulder dystocia with DD, but I've had DS since then and his was a normal delivery. Both of them were 9lb7 so I know where you are coming from. With DS I had shared-care but I still tried for a homebirth even though the consultant was against it. I did loads of research and I was 99% sure the shoulder dystocia was because I laboured on my back for 9 hours with an epi and I couldn't feel to push. The midwives were supportive and although I ended up going in because I needed to have my waters broken I felt much more in control than the first time and I was home in 3 hours becuase my GP was already t'd up to do the postnatal checks.

I'm planning a homebirth again this time and I'm happy that even though it might not go to plan, I'll get what I want as far as making up my own mind about things and understanding my options.

For all you ladies wanting to BF, I was chatting to one of my friends who is a NCT BF Counsellor last night, and she reminded me that they will come out to see you if you need help or they have drop ins where you can come and see them too. If anyone wants to pm me with where about you live she can get the decontact details of your local counsellor so you know where to get support if you need it

Sorry for the mamouth post!!!

neverlookback · 23/03/2011 21:37

what an afternoon, waited 1.5 hours to see consultants for them to basically say they were not really sure why i had been put under a consultant! apart from big baby last time, so it was a bit of a waste of time and i missed my dd 1st horse riding lesson!
They just want to check for gestational diabetes at 28 weeks and keep an eye on growth and if needs be induce me early, but i dont think it will get to that, i think ds was a 1 off!

WYorksLass · 24/03/2011 09:26

Thanks for the welcome.

I have my next scan a week tomorrow, can't wait! My DH and i would both like to know the sex so hopefully we'll find out then. However, i am convinced it's going to be a boy along with everyone else in my family. It's bound to be a girl then!

KTisPG, i am up near Bradford.

I am now starting to have problems sleeping on my side. I always slept on my stomach before i got pregnant and it took ages to get used to sleeping on my side. Only now i am waking up with severe pelvic pain :( It usually goes when i get up and returns when i've been sitting at my desk for too long. I feel a trip to the doctor is going to be necessary soon.

alibaba76 · 24/03/2011 10:15

WYorksLass I have my scan a week today and like you can't wait and will also be finding out sex if we can. I am hoping for a girl, but probably because of that it'll be a boy - but I won't be dissapointed either way, just want to know everything is ok.

Rehune · 24/03/2011 12:07

Have always been a belly sleeper and like you Anu3 keep waking up on my back. Have instructed DH to roll me over but I think being TOLD you have to sleep in one way makes it even more uncomfortable. Apparently lying on your left side is better has you are not putting too much pressure on your liver.

Am finding my breathing is getting alot shallower as well. Anyone else?

MrsStevo · 24/03/2011 13:53

Afternoon fellow preggers people!

All well here, blooming like a good 'un at the moment - bump feels massive already.... but I love it Grin ! Had a scan on Tuesday and twins are both growing well, all looking normal. They did the majority of the anomaly bits on that scan too (altho only 18 weeks) but couldn't look at the hearts just yet as they're a bit teeny.

Sleep wise - I can't sleep on my front or my back at all now. I woke up on my back in the middle of the night the other day and felt like I was in pain and being a bit suffocated! I'm lying on my left hand side by default at the mo as my DH sleeps facing me if I lie on my right and I can't BEAR his breath at the moment (or anyone else's for that matter!) Don't know why, but I can't be doing with breath on my face right now!!

Following the bf discussions with interest. I am going with the flow on that one - would LOVE to be able to bf but suspect I won't be able to sustain both babies on that alone so might have to ff a bit as well.

We have chosen names - we have 5 girl names and 4 boys' so it's just a question of deciding which goes best with which. Don't think we're going to make final decisions until we actually see their faces and see what suits them best ... and because we're sitting in team yellow as well!

As for birth plans - my ideal scenario is a water birth (prob not allowed) and I would like to just have gas & air. More realistically, I'm likely to have to have a CS with an epidural :(

Got the day off tomorrow so today is my Friday Grin Off to Ikea tomorrow to look at nursery furniture - it seems to have been well recommended by a lot of you! I may also venture into the cafe and snaffle some of their dime bar cake if they have any (purely for the babies of course!)

Hope you're all enjoying the gorgeous weather :)

CappuccinoCarrie · 24/03/2011 14:05

There's quite a Yorkshire group growing on here now! I feel a meet up might be in the air Grin
Hope Ikea was fun MrsS!

wheresmytractor · 24/03/2011 17:22

Hi all,

So I have had some leg pain and went to see the physio today and she said my hip had moved up slightly and was out of alignment so she pulled my leg and manipulated me and now i am back in alignment which is great except it hurts!!!! I hope i can teach tomorrow with my poor tender fanny bone Blush

Another name thought, my husband has suggested Esme, what do people think?

Many congrats to all that have had scans and have found out the flavour of the bump!

XX

Annie456 · 24/03/2011 17:56

So jealous of all your scans!!!!! I still have 3 weeks to go....and am also in team yellow :o)

We have names pretty much locked down and DH will often use one or other of the names when referring to things in the future!
We have Emily Rose for the pink side (although DH wants Emily Angela after both our mum's!) and for the blue we have Thomas (and can't agree on a middle name). Both very traditional English names but they both 'feel right' at the moment! Smile

KLou111 · 24/03/2011 18:03

Esme is lovely wheresmytractor, my DH's cousin's daughter is called Esme, beautiful little not-so-little thing she is :)

Re sleeping on left side, I think this is because you get more oxygen to the baby on your left vs your right.

Have put scan piccies up that I got Tuesday, and also another bumpless picture. Think I am getting wider though Hmm

Halfway today, 20 weeks to go woohoo!!! Grin

Firawla · 24/03/2011 18:53

rehune yeah i feel like i am more out of breath than normal i think, and already kind of at the stage where bending over a lot like to pick up all toys or putting on kids shoes, feels like uncomfy! which is ridiculously early for that i think, but really starting to feel that way

tractor poor you i hope your hip is feeling better v soon, i think esme is also nice although i like iris a little bit more but both are good names

annie those are good names too, i think if i let my ds chose the name for my baby he would prob go for thomas too cos of the tank engine lol

i cant remember who was it who had the weird eye thing the other day?? mine were feelng a bit like that today too like kind of flickering vision and a bit weird...

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 24/03/2011 18:54

Firawla I am disappointed to have reached the 'grunting when I bend down' stage already.

wheresmytractor · 24/03/2011 19:56

Ha Ha firawla and star i'm grunting too! It starts earlier with each pregnancy! I look pretty big now and feel it too... x

LifeOfKate · 24/03/2011 20:03

Argh, I have been away for too long! Only went away for a week last week and it has taken me until tonight to catch up!

Glad to see we're all ok. I had my scan yesterday and all is well. We didn't find out the sex :) A great relief, scans always bring me out in a bundle of nerves!

Lots going on here, we're currently looking for a double buggy and think we have settled on one but it is far too expensive new, so we're trying to grab a bargain on ebay. Looked at the Baby Jogger City Classic Double, but when we tried DS in a BJ City Mini (can't find a shop anywhere that sells the classic/elite locally), his shoulders wouldn't fit in the seat, so that ruled that one out, especially since he's only 15 months! So we're seriously considering the easywalker duo.

Other than that, not much to report except that I am getting a visible bump which I didn't get until about 27/8 weeks last time! Baby is moving loads, was stomping on my cervix earlier, that was fun Hmm

Oh, and talking of bump names, ours is called Thing 2, as DS was Thing 1 :o

As for actual baby names, I think we've kind of given up for now and will just hope for the best! I don't think we thought about DS's name until 30 odd weeks last time, so plenty of time still :) Any suggestions for boys names would be gratefully received though, that's where we're having the most trouble!

alibaba76 · 24/03/2011 21:19

Firawla tractor and star I am also grunting when bending down - pathetic really.

tractor I also have some hip pain, today it's pretty bad. Feels like I've twisted it. However, I had perthes disease (hip bone wrong shape) when I was 4 and although it was all fixed, has flared up since I was about 27. Had x-rays etc, and nothing wrong, but I still get pain sometimes. I am told it's like having an old sports injury. I have a leaflet about antenatal physio, so if it doesn't get better, may look into that. I also used to wear a magnetic bracelet which helped, but took it off when I found out I was pg. May see if it's safe to wear now.

Anyone else out their had perthes as a child? And if so, any effects now?

NHAN · 24/03/2011 21:20

Congratulations on all the scans :)
mine is tomorrow and feeling a little nervous now. Well would be feeling nervous if I could feel anything other than serious aching from too much swimming - exercise good for, my arse! lol.

Can anyone advise how i can find people on this site in my area (Suffolk) I've looked at the local bit but its just a list of names with no information, rather confused. Thank you
