KT - call your midwife in the morning and see what she says. Hope you're ok, try not to worry too much although I know how hard it is!

mrsred · 20/02/2011 23:11

KT- sorry if TMI too, but are you certain where blood coming from, I bled quite heavily after a 'bowel movement' a month or so ago, which apparently was a tear 'back there', quite a bit of blood, but totally ok, and probably related to being a touch constipated? Agree with others, pop in to see MW or doctor to put your mind at rest!

nickstermum · 21/02/2011 07:27

Kt I had spotting around 14 weeks. Is it brown or red?
Call your mw and epu should still see you at 14 weeks. My spotting was nothing, totally unexplained! As long as baby is fine, I shouldn't worry too much but get yourself checked out otherwise you will fret!!

MrsVidic · 21/02/2011 07:39

kt I had a little at 12 weeks just after sex, apparently it a was fine but the Mw said not to be so rough. Which was funny as she was trying to come out with a nice non obvious way as Dp and dd were there at my scan! I had had it after sex last preg once do didn't get An extra appt just waited for my scan. However the Mw said I should have got in touch to put my mind at rest as that is what they're there for.

MrsVidic · 21/02/2011 07:40

Hope it works out ok kt x

KTisPG · 21/02/2011 09:28

Hello everyone, nothing further to report (phew) so hopefully it was something and nothing. It was definitely front not back IYSWIM and was red not brown, not caused by sex either. I guess its a mystery but I'll keep everything crossed and hope for the best.

MorningMaddness I have a VW Touran. Does look like a bus, but the space is fantastic and I can easily get 3 car seats across the back, or put one of the DC in the boot if they are fighting. I love it, even though it's ugly Smile

Your list is awesome littlemiss!! I had started to make my own list and literally copied and pasted all of yours into mine :) Thank you! its so helpful for me as not only is this my first experience but Im also the first one amongst friends so no one to really talk to about these things!

Ive finally got my 20 week scan appointment this morning!!! Its on the 29th of March though which is the 21st week (as my doc is out on holiday in my 20th week) so a little frustrating to wait that extra week!!

Are any of you going to find out what you are having? Im so desperate to find out only cause im just so excited to know and then start shopping :) But DH insists that it will be good to keep it a surprise so im still thinking about that one as we def cant have one of us knowing and not the other!! Confused

Anu3 · 21/02/2011 11:50

KTisPG - I had a bit of red spotting in my 13th week exactly like you where i wiped it off once there was no more.

It could have been a blood vessel that burst when you sneezed, coughed or if you were sick (vomitting or just gagging even). Apparently the blood flow down to the pelvic area increases a lot during pregnancy and because of that any sudden movement could cause a small blood vessel to burst and cause a bit of spotting. It is totally unrelated to the baby or the womb in 99% of the cases and hence harmless. Thats what happened to me as i was vomiting and that caused it for me.

Needless to say i was terrified and couldnt stop shaking when i first saw it. DH had called my mid -wife right away who explained the above to us and then also suggested we go over in 24 hrs to see the baby so im at peace and the baby was fine and jumping around. But those 24 hrs were a nightmare for me so i feel for you! But im sure all is OK - Definitely go in for a quick scan if its going to put you at ease as its no point stressing about it.

neverlookback · 21/02/2011 14:20

hi everyone, sorry if this is TMI but am thinking ive got cystitis, ive never had it before but for the last couple of weeks i thought i had a tiny bit of thrush, no discharge but just on/off itching, but then today its started really burning/stinging when i wee, not inside just where it comes out!!! so im thinking it could be bacterial cystitis, i have been getting up about 4 times a night and i suppose im going a lot in the day too but i put it down to being pregnant, i just rang doctors but cant get app till tomorrow so just started on the water to dilute it? anyone any tips?

KTisPG im sure everything is fine with your little baba, did you ring the midwife just to check?

MrsChemist · 21/02/2011 14:28

KTisPG Hope everything is well, and if you're really worried, ask the MW for another scan.

Had my 12 week scan today. All is well though it was very short and the sonographer was quite rude. She clearly just wanted us in and out as soon as possible. Then we had an hour and a half wait for them to update my notes. DS was not happy.
Due date has changed to the 26th now, which is DS birthday. Grin

Firawla · 21/02/2011 19:11

anu im going to find out, cant wait to know. same reason as you mentioned like for the shopping, it makes me feel more organised if i know what im expecting. also i think it will help to tell my other dc like to refer to their new little brother or new little sister, as being more specific prob help them connect with it a bit more, possibly??

Firawla · 21/02/2011 19:12

mrs chemist how horrible the sonographer was rude :( hope it didnt ruin the experience for you. they should think to be nice and pleasant to people as obviously it can be a special experience for people going in to see their baby for the first time @ 12 weeks scan, so it is just mean to be rude to them and put a bad tint on their day!

LifeOfKate · 21/02/2011 20:49

Aww, that's a shame Mrs Chemist, I had a sour-faced sonographer with DS too, she was bad enough for the 12 week one, I nearly asked for a different one when I went in to the 20 week one and it was the same woman! I don't think she smiled once and moaned at me during the 20 week one when I expressed discomfort when she literally tried to ram the probe under my pubic bone Hmm I felt like saying 'it's ok, carry on, I only have a bladder, baby's head and various other bits and pieces down there, plenty of room for your probe too!' :o

I'm at a different hospital this time and have had two lovely ones so far :)

Annie456 · 21/02/2011 21:11

morningsmadness he came back wanting a massive 4x4 but I put my foot down! Went back the next day and picked out a 1 series BMW...I love it and can't wait to pick it up on sat :o) its so nice to have a car that I'm not scared to drive (I hated driving the sports car!)

KT I'm thinking of you. I had a small bleed at 8wks and knew I wouldn't relax until I'd had a scan. Although now Ive had 2 scans I feel more confident and I'm expecting to have some spotting at some point - as long as it's not persistent and there's no sharp pain I was told that it's all normal.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience at your scan mrschemist I would have been devastated. I'm at St Thomas's and I was so impressed with everything. One of my worries was that the sonographer wouldn't be nice - it's such an important day. Are you tempted to complain?

KLou111 · 21/02/2011 22:29

Hope everything OK KT, did you call your MW?

Scan woman sounding like a right bitch mrschemist, one of the most exciting moments of your life, quashed!!! Shock

Glad you got a car picked out Annie. DH used to have a lovely Saab 9-3 Aero sport convertible, gorgeous car!! But when we moved to Wales, he was so scared going down the little lanes around where we live, so he traded it in for a lovely Mitsubishi L200 Diamond 4x4, beautiful car. Love it, and I can drive it!! It came into it's own this winter in the snow, there are only 4 houses where we live, and we all share a main drive. We were the only ones who could get out for 7 days! We even had to go and get the neighbours kids from school! Glad we got it, and will be perfect for little one. :)

We're not going to find out the sex. With it being our first, we want the whole 'it's a boy/girl' thing :)

Bryher · 21/02/2011 23:17

Wow, I've lost track a bit, so many posts!

KT hope all is OK now, glad it's stopped.

neverlookback Cranberry juice is good for cystitis I think, hope you can see your GP soon.

littlemissw - Fantastic list, thanks!

Thanks to others for list suggestions and shopping advice too :) will go back over it all later and write it all down!

MrsVidic · 22/02/2011 07:54

Hello ladies,

One of my mummy friends had her second dd last night and after a very traumatic first birth with her first she had a perfect non intervention birth this time on her due date. So happy and excited for her. After she was induced with her first then needed a lot of intervention and forceps, she was very worried. However this time she was absolutely fine and had a very short labour.

However I'm wondering if I'll get to the hospital on time this time around if things speed up that much!

RugbyWidow7 · 22/02/2011 08:00

Annie, we're having thousands of car discussions recently too! We currently have a Mini but as it's a three door it's going to be changed sooner rather than later! We were planning a 4x4 but have now decided to try to rain the spending in a little with all that's coming our way. I do love being high up though and feel v protected in them so it maybe that we go for an older car instead as a compromise. It's very difficult all this car stuff.

Went to my first preg yoga class last night which was fun, though I did feel a bit of a bump-less fraud with all the other imminent ladies sitting around.

Also finally found a preg swimming costume that almost fits! Yay! Bought a sleeping cushion too, which although it is the v-shaped one not the L-shaped version I thought it was, it still worked a treat in keeping pressure off my tum last night.

Epic post sorry. (must report in more often!)

MorningsMadness · 22/02/2011 08:37

Kt - did you talk to or see your MW?

Annie - great car! RugbyWidow - my OH also wants a 4x4 and having three all in car seats come Summer is helping his argument but I like something smaller!

Btw had you done yoga before?

KTisPG · 22/02/2011 08:50

Thank you for all your kind messages. No more bleeding so I'm pretty sure it wasn't anything baby related. Didn't call the mw, as nothing after the first time, so decided to wait and see.

I'm not going to find out this time. I didn't with DD but did with DS as I wanted to be able to talk to DD about her baby brother. I prefer the surprise though.

Yukana · 22/02/2011 08:54

KT
I'm sure things will be fine, but like someone said before, ask for another scan if you are worried. :) Hugs.

MrsChemist
My sonographer didn't make the scan too quick at 12 weeks but she didn't half mind to shove the probe in a bit! I felt like my bladder was going to burst. She didn't smile once the entire time either. (

MrsChemist · 22/02/2011 09:09

I don't intend to complain, she didn't say anything nasty, she was just very short with us, and hardly said a word. Scan only lasted about 3 minutes, so didn't really get a chance to see much.

Just had a poke about my abdomen and my uterus is nearly at my belly button Shock I thought the bump was still just guts being pushed up. Serves me right for not doing my sit ups after DS was born.

RugbyWidow7 · 22/02/2011 09:50

Sorry, my post mean 'rein' in spending of course!

Morningsmadness- yes I had done yoga before but not for a long time. You really didn't need to have previous experience though. All v friendly and simple as there were several ladies in there who were pretty advanced in their pregnancy.

neverlookback · 22/02/2011 10:22

mrschemist my scan was a similar experience, the sonographer hardly showed me the screen, only pointed out a couple of points and didnt even say if everything was fine, this was at a really big hospital as it was for nuchal but my 20 week will be at a local small hos so they seem a lot nicer there from what i remember last time!

KLou111 · 22/02/2011 12:17

Well, not a lot going on here. Not felt baby for a few days so a bid :( but have 16 week (16 weeks!!!) appt with MW Thursday, so hopefully hear heartbeat.

Weighed myself this morning and lost 2lbs again! Confused
