KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/02/2011 13:23

I'm not sure, I second Crumble's suggest to get it checked out.

Mrs - congrats on your boy.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/02/2011 13:28

Banaram - thanks for the tip off, we are wanting a graco, just hadn't decided which one. Looks like a really good deal!

Merlion · 03/02/2011 13:52

Mrs congrats on the boy!

8rubberduckies · 03/02/2011 14:10

Mrs congratulations on your scan - boys are amazing fun!

Motherofsp sorry to hear about your husband's work situation; If you get them, would the drop in pay be enough to affect the amount of tax credits you get? That could plug some of the gap.

Am very jealous of all the buggy talk - we have a fully functioning, if not a little tatty, buggy from ds1, as well as a newish pushchair he uses now, so we have no excuse to eye up all the lovely ones out there.

Jasmine William Robert is lovely; I don't think many people would pick up on what a child's middle name is when trying to shorten a name; surely he's more likely to become a Will or Willy?

Barbie I second everyone who is saying to go for Ann - it is a lovely thought and I'm sure it would mean the world to your Mum. I see what you mean about the two one-syllable names together, not that it sounds dull, but just that it doesn't trip off the tongue as nicely. How about Katherine Ann on the birth certificate, so her initials are the same? Or I also like Kate Ann Gabriella.

Welcome back louja!

I have nothing to report, except that I got to have a very long cuddle with my friend's 4-day-old baby last night; it reminded me how wonderful it is to have a newborn curled up across your chest sleeping peacefully, and has got me all excited about what is to come again! Grin

She also lent me a hypnobirthing CD and the Ina May Guide to Childbirth, so have lots to keep me going when I have a spare minute to prepare for the birth. I have also ordered a pregnancy yoga book off t'internet. I'm a bit nervous about the birth, as it has to be medicalised because I have to be given IV antibiotics because I carry Strep B. I am happy to know I will at least be able to use the birthing pool at the hospital even if I have got a drip in my arm, but want to do as much as I can to make it as relaxed as possible and to try and block out the fact I am in the delivery suite and not somewhere else much less stressful! Anyone on their 2nd/3rd/4th etc who has any experience of Hypnobirthing? Did it help?

sasamaxx · 03/02/2011 15:26

Just bookmarking Smile

loueytb3 · 03/02/2011 16:33

Just marking my place.

Have a sick child Sad and have been juggling him and work all day.

jasmine51 · 03/02/2011 18:16

moomin if you read the Rough Guide to Pregnancy there is a whole section on vaginal secretions. Basically says it is normal, increases as the pg progresses and can be plentiful- nothing to worry about unless green, bloody or smelly (lovely) But do get it checked out if you are worried of course.

Scan report....we are either having a boy or a girl with a very small third leg. No doubt about that one, all on display, legs akimbo proudly. We even have a scan image of just that anatomical part...that'll be a party killer on his 18th! There was a funny moment when the sonographer said - 'everything is in the wrong place' but fortunately she was talking about the pc keyboard and not the bub! The rest of the scan showed our little one has gay hands and legs moving like an irish dancer!

I have just been offered a BugabooCameleon by the way - am finding out how much it would be in case anyone is interested.

Have a good evening
x

BPrincess · 03/02/2011 19:14

Moomin I totally identify with what you're saying about the discharge. I have been doing panty liners for a few weeks now, tis the only way. I'm pretty sure it's normal, as long as not stinky. Eww...

Barbielovesken we are just one day apart - I'm 24 wks on Sunday, and doesn't time fly! Though still terrified by the thought that if I'm this size now, what on EARTH will I look/feel like at 38?!

I've also noticed a bit of backache creeping in over the last day or two. Anyone else?

Halle my sonographer also said he a couple of times in the scan, then when we caved in and decided to find out the sex just before we left, he revealed it is actually a girl! So you never know!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/02/2011 20:44

Congrats BPrincess on your girl!!

I have gone and bought that Graco travel system :)

Jer79 · 03/02/2011 22:23

Congrats to everyone on your boys and girls!

Jasmine I would love to know about the Bugaboo, really love to.

Clarkiee · 04/02/2011 06:55

Will second the discharge comment moomin I'm not impressed!!! It's been happening when I cough a big cough or do a big sneeze- which as I've got a cold and a cought is quite often.

Barbielovesken Love Kate- and agree that you could easily fit your mums name in between that and Gabrielle/a (sounds like she'd be thrilled that you used her name too). I also know a little girl who is actually called Katherine but known as Kate. As mentioned before we've been looking at irish names. DH like Caitlin and made the good point that I could shorten it to Cate (which I like and might just do).

I like Ciara but as we're thinking of going for DH's mums name for the middle it doesn't quite work- Ciara Maria Hmm pass me the coffee liquer!!!

Went to aqua natal last night loved it! My antenatal classes start in March and they clash with the classes- annoying!

Lovely to hear about all the healthy babies you are seeing at your appointments. Interesting to hear of the sex too- but nice that there are some suprises too!

Putting an offer on a house today- fingers crossed they'll go for it (it's not a high offer so don't think they will but worth a try).

Yay Friday!!!!!!!!! Grin

moomin156 · 04/02/2011 10:10

Thanks for all your reassurance about the discharge.....its definitely not smelly, bloody or green. So will ask at my next appointment in 2 weeks.
Good luck with the house offer clarkie

I feel miserable today - my head is all stuffed up, I have sinus pain, my eyes are sore, my throat feels rough and I'm knackered - think I have the start of a bad cold Sad
DD is miserable too - she's been whining and crying all day and her nose is running.
Only DS is racing around like a lunatic (as normal) which is just exhausting.

Oh - and there are gale force winds and torrential rain outside - lovely.

Blinking miserable house altogether - cannot wait until DH gets home and I can curl up on the sofa and let him look after things.

Clarkiee · 04/02/2011 18:33

Chinese new Year this week. Our babies are going to be rabbits Grin

Sarahmumtobe · 04/02/2011 18:52

Hello all, not posted in a while. Congratulations on exam results barbie, great scan news from everyone! Hope you and dd feel better soon sassamax-colds are miserable.

All ok here except on call weekend. Getting a good kicking at the minute-it's such a strange feeling!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

have good weekends everyone - we're off to look at "travel systems" tomorrow (oo la la - what a posh title!!)
xx

Merlion · 05/02/2011 02:31

jbells we've just had a lovely long weekend off work to celebrate Chinese New Year - it's much bigger than Christmas here. I think should be the year you were born. The birth rate here (Singapore) really dropped last year as no-one apparently wants Tiger girls Hmm! Next year will be a boom year as it is dragon year (which I am) and is apparently very lucky.

This year is supposed to be much calmer than last year to match the personality of all the little rabbits!

Humania · 05/02/2011 09:20

Hello long time no posts from me the longtime lurker.. Great to hear about all the scans. All was well for me, apart from the fact that all measurements were very big... Some close to upper normal limit! Just hoping that huge baby doesn't jeopardize my chance of homebirth, but i guess it helps that my body's been through birth before so should know what to do! And i've heard that the measurements are notoriously inaccurate too.

I just didn't want to leave 8rubberduckies unanswered - the ina may book is fantastic and changed my whole attitude to birth for the better. I also used a hypnobirthing book and cd which i think contributed greatly to a straightforward Waterbirth. Parts of it are a little bit 'woo' for me but the breathing and relaxation techniques undoubtedly got me through the whole thing pretty calmly. I know it won't be for everyone but would definitely say it's worth a try.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 05/02/2011 10:56

Realised that I'm 21 weeks today. Hurray past the hump and it's down hill(bump) to baby Grin

Only another couple of weeks and we'll all be past the halfway mark. Very cool indeed.

Jer79 · 05/02/2011 11:23

How do you all measure what week you are on? Do you consider yourself say 15 weeks pregnant when you're 15+5 and 16 weeks at 16+1 or are you like me and on 15+1 you're proudly proclaiming how you're now 16 weeks pregnant? It's quite confusing - particularly using other websites for baby info and realising you're often reading the week ahead.

Clarkiee Wine Inspired! For the record, WineWineWineWineWineWineWineWine of late. But only in my head. The corkscrew is rusting away in the drawer. Sad

Sarahmumtobe · 05/02/2011 12:32

I've been going for being in week 22 now that I am 21+5-the week seems to go more quickly then!

MainlyMaynie · 05/02/2011 17:23

Haven't posted for ages, it's lovely to see all the scan results. I can't believe we've reached the stage of being able to find out the gender. Ours is on Monday and I'm really nervous, not about the gender, but about there being a problem. It's been such a long road for us to get here that it's difficult to believe it could all be ok!

Jer79, I count it from when I turn that week, i.e. I am 19+6 today and from tomorrow will start saying I'm 20 weeks.

humania, it's great hearing about your hypnobirthing. I'm booking to do a natal hypnotherapy course and hoping to have a water birth too. I'm v exicted about it all as I thought I would need a CS due to coccyx/sij problems but I don't. I've got the natal hypnotherapy pregnancy relaxation cd and have found that really helpful.
