Stupid automatic spelling correction!
I still want to munch a pack of choc biscuits every time I read a post by nmcb :/

My client recently went to Fifteen & highly recommended it, was looking at the website earlier.

An "interesting" restaurant to try out is Archipelago . This is only for the brave, non veggie & ms free as they serve dishes such as alligator, zebra, love bug salad & chocolate covered scorpions!!
They do other dishes too, chicken based & creepy free. It's an amazing place just off Warren Street.

moomin156 · 06/02/2011 22:10

moufflon not sure about that restaurant. Fifteen was wonderful but definitely a special occasion as it wasn't cheap! my lamb dish was the one of the best things i have ever tasted though :)
We also went to borough market on saturday am.......Mmmmm yummy foods again.
My DH would love to go to Hestons for the experience

How many people are going to be at your b'day party?

I love the The Salt Yard - mid range tapas

smurfette11 · 06/02/2011 22:35

but good food. Brindisa is also lovely but not very pregnancy friendly.

also what area?

Like moomin said lastminute is good for hotels

NoToast · 06/02/2011 22:43

I don't know how to link moomin, but I really recommend a read: 'lady garden etiquette childbirth' in google will find it. It covers everything from amniotic explosions to staring midwives to bums stuck by wax to the bath! Professional advice from surgeons and midwives included!

jbells · 06/02/2011 22:47

im not sure which area, i want to stay somewher pretty central as wud like to go to harrods and potabello market (sp?) and wud also like to see convent gardens, it will just be me and DP we will be travelling down by train from liverpool lime st, wont be untill 2nd of april so ive got time to plan :)budet wise wont be drinking wine or any alcohol so prob no more than 50-60 pound

KaraStarbuckThrace · 07/02/2011 08:06

If anyone wants 2 pairs of smart black maternity trousers in a size 18, and a pair of black maternity jeans, you can have them for £10 inc p&p. They are all too long for me, I think they are all 31" length.

PM me if you want them!

jasmine51 · 07/02/2011 08:59

jbells My fave places to stay are CityInn (now called Mint Hotels), MyHotel in Bloomsbury and Goodenough College in Bloomsbury (although you have to be assocaited with an academic type role or institution to stay here) - PM me if you want further details.
re food - I recently went to a veggie restaurant called Vanilla Black near Chancery Lane. Food like I've never tasted before - gorgeous...but dont go there if you are hungry, the portions are dainty and not a chip in sight. I always revert to Chez Gerard restaurants - a chain but always good quality French grub

Aquanatal today - yay!

moomin156 · 07/02/2011 09:41

Morning all......this is a me, me,me rant so apologies.
I am really stressed about work today. Before the weekend i was told i had to meet with the divisional manager and my line manager today and wasnt given a reason. Have been allright all weekend until last night when all i have done is worry about why. My tummy is churning and i feel so anxious............why cant people just give you a vague idea, if it is a bollocking then at least give you time to be prepared instead of just expecting you to sit there and take it.
In my hormonal state i will just cry and then i have to be at work until 9pm.......

moomin deep breaths...you dont know why they want to see you so it is probably something quite innoccuous. Can you ask them in advance to give you an idea what it is about so you can prepare and stop yourself getting wound up? if you feel yourself getting emotional, ask for a break and compose yourself. Please dont worry, it wont help....they might want to discuss pay rises with you or something lovely?
It happened to me and turned out just to be my 'boss' (actually a client) just wanting some comfort that I did plan to come back after mat leave and what my choice of chair would be in their new offices! not worth a sleepless night!

Stay calm, it will be fine x

I've booked in for the NCT classes for April. No-one has actually mentioned the NHS classes to me, but there is a big noticeboard in the hospital giving times for all sorts of different sessions. I've now booked for a natal hypnotherapy course and apparently this can be done instead of NCT or NHS classes. I'm going to still go to the NCT ones as we've paid, but wish I'd known that earlier!

This thread has reminded me, Ive had my exemption certificate for ages I MUST send it off.

Enjoy aquantal jasmine, I'm loving it! I'm a bit worried the classes might stop though - last week I was the only person there.

Moomin, hope your work meeting is ok. Very mean of them to not give you any information on what it's about.

TTL and Lisascat good luck with the scans today. (TTL, yours might already be over, though not if the delays are anything like as bad as at my hospital!). I am SO nervous. Hope the parking works out ok Lisascat, we're going by public transport as it's really terrible at the hospital.

Ooh and I've started feeling the baby. Wasn't sure for the past few days, but it was much more obvious yesterday. Very exciting!

jasmine51 · 07/02/2011 10:19

notoast just read the lady garden thread - that story about the cold wax and getting stuck to the bath made me pee myself just a little bit. Ha ha - am now considering rummaging in the kitchen for heart shaped pastry cutter and some food dye too..ha ha, so funny.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 07/02/2011 10:52

lady garden ettiquette
Haven't read it yet, but am very intrigued.

CMH1stbaby · 07/02/2011 11:14

We've had a scan this morning and we're having a little boy! Both very excited. Apparently the baby has a big head and big tummy but short legs! DH is not enjoying the comparisons that are being drawn!!!

Hope other scans today go well xx

spg · 07/02/2011 11:14

Interesting thread on the lady garden etiquette.. Liked this line:
"Leave your dignity at the door and pick it up again on your way out" :)

moomin156 · 07/02/2011 11:20

Congrats CMH

I read the lady garden thread but I thought it was an old one! I found it from google after I was trying to work out what the best thing to do would be ha ha Grin

Congratulations cmh on your little boy! Ours is a girl! Isobel Edith :) Can't wait now. The scan was lovely - she was moving a lot (which was reassuring as I couldn't feel her 99% of the time though she was going nuts in there :)) and we did all the checks, but then she wouldn't move into the right position for the heart or the lips to be checked, so I had to go and have my blood tests and come back, and then we saw the rest. Yeeehaaaa! (I had blood tests because I'm part of a study they're doing. DH had to spit into a cup too, and couldn't spit enough Grin)

DH isn't letting me tell anyone in RL the name so you guys are the privileged few :)

Looking forward to all the other scan news.

moomin hope work is okay. Sure it will turn out much better than you expect.

LisasCat · 07/02/2011 11:57

To the people talking about second time round NCT classes, I was tempted this time. I didn't go to anything first time around, partly because I spent the first half of my pregnancy moving, then when I came back to Oxon and settled, I was so paranoid about Oxford yummy mummies looking down their noses at me being a single mum (DP and I weren't together then). And yes, I know all Oxford mummies aren't yummy, and in fact, I could probably be accused of being a bit of one myself when I took DD to baby yoga Grin, but you know how it is, when you're fretting about first impressions, and wanting other people to like you, and all that crap. Especially as the big bonus of those classes is hopefully meeting new friends.

Which was why I was thinking of doing it this time. But then we looked at our pending finances when I'm on maternity leave...... NCT classes would possibly negate having any food in our fridge for a while!!!

Bring on the Jue in June (free, except the cost of a coffee) South Oxon meet up.

LisasCat · 07/02/2011 11:58

Oh and TTL glad your scan went ok. Am a bit nervous about mine later today. DD still coming with us, so really, really hope there's no bad news.

jasmine51 · 07/02/2011 12:20

Lisa pml at the Oxon yummy mummy fears...just wait for the meetup...there's no yummy going on here unless it involves cakes and biscuits!
I saw a young couple yesterday out walking dressed in full 'country' gear of green wellies and matching flat caps with a black lab at heel...but they stood out so much I suspect they were city visitors wanting to 'fit in'.
Right I'm off to get ready to pick Rupert up from prep school and take the dogs out shooting..ha ha

Merlion · 07/02/2011 12:58

CMH and TTL congrats on your scans.

Lisa good luck with your scan. I know what you mean about the first impressions thing. Here can be pretty daunting as expat life can be pretty strange and some of the Mums I've met live in a different world but the ones I met in my baby group are all lovely and we're still pretty close after 2 1/2 years.
