Glad all is well Citizen Grin

jasmine51 · 11/02/2011 12:02

Hello all
Glad scans are still all going well and yay for more boys!
Is anyone being kept awake by bump activity? I swear mine didnt stop all night, was like a punch up in there. I was worried at one point that there was something wrong and he was trying to break out. He's still at it this morning...and no I havent had any caffeine. Anyone else getting this?

More fabric samples arrived this morning and have been stuck to the bubs room wall. This time they are checked material from a VW Camper van website! Think I prefer the deckchair stripes but I'll leave the choice to my 'ladies that lunch' neighbours who seem to spend their time doing girly things like interior design and stuff (very not like me).
Have a good bumpy day x

We finally managed to win an auction for a Bugaboo Cameleon on e-bay! We paid a little more than we had planned, but it was a second generation with the chassis just replaced last year, in great condition, and it came with all the little extras, so we thought it was worth it. I was quite pleased as I've seen people pay much more for older and more used ones without the extras.

I was also waiting until we got a Cameleon before buying a car seat as I wanted to make sure they were compatible. Luckily I checked the Mothercare website late last night right after winning the Cameleon auction, only to discover that the 10 percent sale on car seats was suddenly going to be ended at midnight (they hadn't listed an end point until yesterday). So I was able to get a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix for 10 percent off, and got some other bits and bobs we needed to bring it up to £150, and then used a voucher for £15 off online purchases of £150 or more. Every bit helps, especially when you've got so much to buy.

Anyways, I realised that anyone could use these Mothercare voucher codes online or by phone as you only have to present the voucher if you're purchasing in store, so I thought I'd post them here in case anyone would like to use them. They expire 31 December 2011.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 11/02/2011 13:18

Haven't read anymore than your post Mrs, but a huge thank you for posting all the moey off codes Grin I'm sure all of us will be able to benefit in some way. Thank you Grin

mrswantstobeamum · 11/02/2011 13:22

CMH, I also love your wallpaper. Good luck writing your thesis during maternity leave! I am seriously thinking about starting a PhD programme this autumn, so need to get my research proposal done before the baby comes. Not the easiest thing when you'd rather think about baby bedding and tiny clothes Smile

Misshoohaa, Shock at your boss's behaviour. I would definitely send him some sort of warning message at this stage, even if you're not ready to go to HR yet. It is absolutely this type of treatment that the laws are meant to prevent.

CitizenOscar, congrats on your scan and on your little boy! It's so exciting to know, isn't it?

Jasmine, my baby is most active at night, starting up when I'm reading in bed. But it hasn't been enough to keep me awake yet, although I've got a couple of weeks before entering his 'most active' period (isn't it 24-28 weeks? I'm at 22 today). Sounds like you've got a little footballer or boxer in there!

mrswantstobeamum · 11/02/2011 13:26

Sorry for xposting, NoMoreChocBiscuits. No problem re the vouchers. If others have voucher codes for baby stuff, I hope they will post too as we all have so much to buy!

jasmine51 · 11/02/2011 13:54

Mrs DH says it must be a boxer or a footballer...or a little soldier practising his bayonet skills.. but I have reminded him that Louis Spence throws his arms and legs around too...that shut him up!

jasmine51 · 11/02/2011 16:16

OMG I'm glad you lot dont actually know me...except Motherofsnortpigs (but you can close your ears)....I was just being lazy clearing the lawn after the dog, flicking the yuk over the hedge into the cow field behind the house. I heard a thud and realised the farmers van was behind the hedge and he now has a present on his roof...oh god...I'm so embarassed...I'm a terrible person!

takethatlady · 11/02/2011 16:35

Grin jasmine. Chuck some flowers over too, to sweeten the blow Grin

mrswantstobeamum just wanted to say a massive thanks for all those voucher codes! That is brilliant, and I will definitely be using them :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/02/2011 20:15

Mrs - thank you for the codes, that will be very very useful as we still need to buy the bedside cot from Mothercare!

MissHH - your boss is a twat, I would keep a record of any comments or anything that he makes just in case.

Clarkiee · 12/02/2011 08:59

Morning girls!!!

Had the best scan we've had this year on Thursday. The consultant was just saying 'thats good, thats normal, good, normal' I was waiting for his usual bombshell but it didn't come Grin. One baby is regular sized and the other one is still smaller but has moved up within the lower normal percentile. No signs of TTS either. Feel so much happier.

Saw the lovely mw too. She got my results from parvovirus (slapped cheek) blood test (in 10 mins- taken doc nearly 2 weeks) and I'm immune Grin had it sometime in the past- phew!

Your boss is well out of order misshh

jasmine the farmer is probably used to cow muck so a bit of dog pooh might not bother him too much Grin I reversed into a 4x4 in the pool car park- knocked a funny little black plastic thing off the front. Picked it up and took it in to the gym- the receptionist took my number and said she'd pass it on if anyone asked (but if they didn't she wouldn't) Blush- feel bit guilty!

jasmine51 · 12/02/2011 09:08

Clarkiee Great great news on your scan. Thanks for the poo story...gotta go now quickly...pelvic floor under pressure from laughing....

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/02/2011 09:50

Clarkiee - that is good news, I hope you can feel a bit more relaxed now :)
Has your consultant's personal skills improved then Grin

misshoohaa · 12/02/2011 11:03

Thanks everyone, your right my boss is a complete toss pot, however I take great pleasure in knowing that his knobeyness is just an extension of his miserable life and makes me so pleased that I am 100 million times happier than he will ever be. But I will keep track of his actions and drop in a few maternity law gems.

clarkiee glad to hear the twins are doing well, I can't imagine how exciting it must be to know you are getting two bundles of joy - it really is a pretty huge miracle what our bodies can do isn't it.
Thanks for the voucher codes mrswtbam - we were meant to be getting a few bits off my BIL, like a car seat and such but they've just announced they are having number 4 so will be needing some of it still! 4 kids under 5 1/2 - crazy people!

Not too bothered as it means I get to shop more, and I wasn't too keen to take their 2nd and car seat even though I knew it was fine. Feel much better buying one new. On that subject, do you fit car seats yourself over here? Sorry, I'm Australian and I think at home the fire brigade have to fit them for you?

8rubberduckies · 12/02/2011 12:09

Clarkiee congratulations on the scan!

A Happy Morning all round in the duckies house, woke up to the news on BBC this morning that the govt has done a momentous u-turn and granted a reprieve for funding to debt advice! Looks like I'm keeping my job! Its only for an extra year, but at least that'll take me to the end of maternity leave Smile Smile Smile. On a less selfish note, it also means some of the people losing their jobs / suffering the most from the cuts will be able to access some advice for a little bit longer Smile.

Misshh we fit our own car seats here, but you can usually get help getting them fitted by whichever shop you buy it from.

Clarkiee · 12/02/2011 16:50

Thanks kara (nah his people skills haven't really improved he didn't really have much to say), jasmine, missh (feels exciting- getting kicked all over the place at the mo- but I don't mind) and 8duckies.

Thats great news 8rubberduckies what a relief for you! It sounds like there will be a lot of people needing your invaluble advice at the mo.

Had a nice relaxing day- getting ready for the hen do.

Just been rubbing in the bio-oil and I think I can see the beginnings of one of those brown lines down my stomach Hmm

Clarkiee · 12/02/2011 16:54

Just googled it and it's called 'Linea nigra' it's caused by pigmentation in the skin where your abdominal muscles stretch and slightly separate. Just told DH that I'd noticed it and he says its been there for ages Shock

jbells · 12/02/2011 19:18

hello all, went for 4D scan today and we are definately having a boy yay so excited to be able to buy boys clothes and blue Grin means the dilema of the boys names continues tho Hmm it was as clear as the 4D scan we had with DD but was very nice none the less, also found out the baby is weighing around 2lb 2oz and measuring at about 26+5 i am 25+5 so looks like it may be on the large size

mrsW thanks for codes sounds like your having fun shopping Grin

has everyone ordered the free mamas and papas catalogue for the 5pound free voucher inside u can spend it on anything got mine yest :)

nicki1978 · 12/02/2011 20:39

hi jbells, were going for a 4d scan on 5th March (will then be 25 weeks) due to not being able to find out for definate if we were having a boy or not as I can't wait to go shopping and there's only so much neutral coloured clothes you can buy, lol

We did ask at our last scan at hospital how big baby was at this stage and she just said that they didn't do anything like that, just check condition of baby.

I have seen pictures of 4d scans on internet, but do they really appear that clear?

My sister thinks they look a bit freaky and alien like, lol xx

bananarama05 · 12/02/2011 20:53

Evening ladies,

Thanks for the code mrswants I'm sure everyone will be able to make use of at least one of those :)

So I have been naughty today...DP got sent home from work early ill. He called me to tell me he was home, I'd just gone shopping so told him to get on the train and come and meet me... we are now the proud owners of a Silver Cross 3D travel system Wink
I do feel bad when he was meant to be off sick but it was literally the first day this year we've both been off work and I really didn't want to have to wait until April for another one in case the free car seat offer ended!

On the plus side we got the very last black Ventura car seat at Kiddicare, they're on back order not expecting any more until mid May Shock which was cutting it a bit fine for my liking. We had to have the display one which I wasn't sure about but after a good inspection it's in good condition and we still got a 12 month warranty. I can't imagine it will have left the building and we got £10 off, on top of getting it "free" with the pushchair as part of their deal!

jbells We have our 4d scan in 2 weeks, can't wait. DP still claims to want to not know what colour bean we're having but I guess we'll just have to see what happens!

HalleLouja · 13/02/2011 08:22

Morning everyone.

Was just wondering if it is just me holding back buying stuff - was the same with DS. With DS we didn't start buying anything until I was 32 weeks - my friend was even worse. She waited until about 38. Luckily we didn't wait any longer as DS was born at 34. We were lucky that the buggy all came just before he left SCBU but was all ok.

This time I am only going to get a sling, bugggy board and some more neutral newborn clothes. As all our newborn clothes were boys as he had been alive and kicking for a while before he got to newborn. In our stupidity naivety before he was born we had bought 0-3 months clothes and no newborn things.

Anyone fancy a Brew?

cameli · 13/02/2011 09:38

Great news on the scan Clarkiee, what a relief for you.

8rd when I saw sky news announce the debt decision I immediately thought of you and assumed you would be relieved. At least it gives you some breathing space.

Well I have my 3/4D scan next Saturday & I'm super excited. I'll be 26 weeks exactly so hoping for some good photos although I do think they look a liitle alien like....

Went to see the consultant last week & things are starting to look up & there is now a strong chance I won't need to deliver at 36 weeks. I have to go back in 6 weeks but I am hopeful things will be fine. It would be great to deliver a normal sized baby.

Right I'm going to get ready as we are going shopping to York. I don't have anything in mind to buy but I'm sure I will see something :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/02/2011 10:42

8rd - I saw the news and thought of you as well, what a relief. I did say it was quite mad to even be considering a cutting such an essential service in this economic climate!! Once again the ConDems are looking pretty stupid - for trying to cut services aimed at those on lower incomes and then having to back track. And all this while they are allowing big companies to benefit from a little used corporate tax loophole Angry

Had an awful day yesterday, took DS to busy park we were there a few hours, fed ducks played in playground but no where to sit because it was big and crowded, with no seats in the play area and he as all over the place. Started feeling tired and my stomach was hurting so I tried to take him out and he just went into a massive meltdown screaming the place down and refusing to leave, I ended up carrying him with everyone staring at me, it was awful and started crying because he was so hard to carry and then I couldn't catch my breath, one woman did try and help but she then said to me "don't you have reins?" Angry like that is going to solve anything - I would end up dragging him by the reins!! So I left with everyone staring at me so I shouted back at them "Yes have a good stare at the bad mother!".
I felt like I was in some kind of nightmare, eventually managed to get him to the car but it was long walk and my back and stomach really hurt as I had to carry him - he is small for his age but still weighs a bit!
He did eventually say sorry to me at least.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 13/02/2011 11:15

Great news on the work front 8RD! They really are a pack of knobheads down at downing street.

And Clarkiee hurray on the scan front. It's good to hear your twins are doing just fine Grin
Also pleased to hear about the other lovely scans.

Is anyone else finding it hard to wake up in the morning? Even after an early night with no interruptions?

mrswantstobeamum · 13/02/2011 11:39

Morning ladies, hope everyone is having nice relaxing weekends. Not too much going on here, but we're looking forward to picking up our Bugaboo Cameleon from the e-bay seller tonight!

I just weighed myself and have gained 20 lbs Shock at 22+2! I am starting to feel enormous, but all of the weight gain seems to be in my bump (and boobs Blush), so I will try not to worry. I've been eating very healthily and don't feel like I've been stuffing my face, so I guess this is just what my body does in pregnancy. My bump has gotten much harder, and I've now got a very faint linea nigra as well.

Clarkie, so pleased everything is okay with your little girls.

8RD, congratulations on the great news re your job!

Jbells, congrats on your boy! Good luck choosing a name.

Kara, sorry to hear about your bad day. I'm sure every mother has those experiences! I hope your DS is on his best behaviour today to make up for it.
