Thanks for all your well-wishes about my job Smile

Kara I swear that every time I leave the house with ds there's some sort of scene involving a tantrum Blush. He is an angel whenever there is anyone else around like his Dad or Granny Angry. I had to carry him out of a softplay a couple of weeks ago cos he wouldn't share toys and started pushing other boys. Some parents are understanding, but I can't understand the judgy ones - I think they really do believe their little angels will never act like a typical toddler, or they have very selective memories Hmm.

Off for more cuddles with my friend's baby this afternoon! Yay!

takethatlady · 13/02/2011 16:14

Wow it's a happy thread today! Brilliant news 8rd - what a huge relief. In addition to getting your maternity pay at least it gives you breathing space of at least a year. Thank goodness for that :)

And congratulations cameli and clarkiee on your lovely baby news. It's horrible having worries about the pregnancy and it seems like things are going up and up!

kara I'm really sorry for your bad day. Not having any children yet I have all that to look forward to! But agree that the judgey parents are ridiculous - they're probably looking for a chance to feel a little bit superior to someone else for five minutes, which is idiotic really. I know that when I was little I was the absolute Queen of Tantrums (I remember being 2 and picking up my high chair, which was much much bigger than me, and throwing it across the kitchen in fury Shock Blush). So I reckon this LO might have it in her too, at least genetically Wink. Other parents should help out or keep quiet, in my book!

Good and bad news here. DH is looking for a job in Norfolk so we can move, but nothing is coming up and he didn't even get shortlisted for the only job he's been able to apply for :( But it forced us into a rethink and we may have found an area we can move to which will give me and Isobel a 20 minute journey to work and nursery, and DH will have just over an hour in the car and can stay in his current job (which he likes). It's basically swapping our commute times over. It's not 100% ideal but it will be better than now, where the long commute would be for me and the baby, and the area we're thinking of moving too is bloody cheap so we could actually get a nice house, fingers crossed!

Seven more weeks of term .... seven more weeks of term ....

moomin156 · 13/02/2011 17:15

Well ive ben having a stressfull weekend........hadnt felt bean move since Friday evening. Very unusual, very active normally........can even see movement in the bump. Didnt worry yesterday too much as we were quite busy, but then nothing overnight and nothing this morning. Started to be very stressed and weepy so got frogmarched to the hospital by DH.......... a lovely male midwife who immediately found a heartbeat for us before he did any paperwork or anything. Tears of relief and joy.
Finally felt something 30minutes ago just the 2 kicks.....the bean was pushing it as we had been told to phone again at 7pm if i still hadnt felt anything. Still not its usual rugby playing action but at least a little nudge :)
Apparantly i now have little colour back to my cheeks as DH says i have looked washed out and drained all day. He is going to cook tea, i have had my feet up all afternoon. Bless him......

Awwww Moomin - glad the MW put your mind at ease!

TTL - yes you definitely need to have the shorter commute as you need to factor in the drop off/pick up time!

This weekend is getting worse, DH and I took DS and DSS swimming, some f*ing arsehole kicked me between the legs and then some idiot kid smacked me across the nose Angry Kid at least did say sorry. Arsehole didn't Angry

And I am sooooo tired!

Hello all,

Mrs WTBAM thanks for posting those codes, you're a star. I joined the Boots parenting club and have picked up my free change bag. It's very cheap and insubstantial lovely and light.

8rd fab news about the job, am very pleased for you.

Moomin I had a couple of very quiet days from the LO when usually it's poddling around lots, they've gone back to normal now, hope yours is back bouncing about soon.

Am seriously thinking of signing up for hypnobirthing, has anybody started a course or used it before? I think that OBEM has somebody using it this week. I found last weeks episode extremely traumatic, the programme notes referred to 'older mothers' and they were my age, or, in one case, several bloody years younger Shock.

CitizenOscar · 13/02/2011 21:37

Yes notoast I've signed up for hypnobirthing classes, but they don't start til April so I can't say whether it's worth it yet. I'm a natural worrier and I want
to have some techniques for staying calm and somewhat in control . Also my DH is pretty terrified about the whole birth thing and I like the
ideas about thinking differently about birth, not focusing just on the pain and trauma etc, and I think the techniques will hopefully give DH a slightly more positive outlook about it. Like I say, I haven't done any classes yet so I don't know whether it'll work, but those are my reasons. It's our first baby, so no idea whether it will actually do any good but hopefully it'll help us
to be less anxious. Don't know if that helps you at all?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/02/2011 22:34

I'm going to talk to a local Doula about hypnobirthing, maybe looking at hiring her as a birth doula.

I am on the verge of ordering that Ina May book!

Merlion · 14/02/2011 06:42

Kara what is it with these toddlers at the moment. I had to do the walk of shame with a screaming DS through the supermarket on Friday. He wanted to go in the opposite direction and didn't want to go back in the car so he was in a rugby hold under my arm. Then this morning he decided he didn't want to go to nursery when usually he wants to go even on the mornings he doesn't have to (including weekends)! Maybe they're finally getting the idea they might not be no.1 anymore?!

Moomin glad you got some reassurance. I've also been panicking as have definitely felt less movement the last couple of days. Though I had curry last night which seemed to get her moving!!

I also got a nosebleed this morning - I think possibly the first time I've ever had one - has anyone else?

BarbieLovesKen · 14/02/2011 09:58

8 I am over the moon to hear about your news Grin

Supersunny I really have everything crossed for you and dh on the job front, have been thinking of you and 8 loads. Hope you have a fantastic scan today.

Kara sorry to hear about your day. Sad

Louja I havent bought a thing yet either and dont intend to for a while. It just feels a little early for me right now. That said, Im lucky in that I dont need a huge amount as we've all ds's equipment so Im not under the pressure many others are to get organised.

Merlion, I've been having almost daily nosebleeds for the past 2 weeks (as I have done with all my healthy pregnancies!) apparantly completely normal, good sign etc.. just annoying!!.

Must get back to work...

24+4 today...

moomin156 · 14/02/2011 13:36

Just a quick update..........DH loved the Valentines book.....he read it to the bump last night ( he works away from home in the week so he leaves the house at 04:30 on a mon am)
Still very little movement but im trying not to worry as the heartbeat was loud and strong yesterday. It just feels strange to go from a fidgety alien to nothing but an odd nudge, but at least there is a nudge unlike the weekend.
Hope scans are good today. 24 weeks today for me :)

takethatlady · 14/02/2011 13:44

Thanks ladies. Hopefully it will work out. I really don't want to spend 2 1/2 hours driving 3 days a week with a baby in the car and I guess she probably wouldn't like it much either!

Thanks supersunny - I really hope your DH gets to stay in his job. It sounds like that might at least be a possibility, and at least he's getting a bit more time to figure out an alternative. It seems like loads of us are struggling with jobs/mortgages/houses and stuff - what a time we've all picked to have babies! I reconcile it to myself by thinking that by the time the economic woes are over I'll be a shrivelled up old lady so I might as well just go for it now. Too late, anyway Grin

merlion I haven't had a nosebleed but when I blow my nose I do get the rather delightful snots and clots someone else described a while back. Yucky bits of blood everywhere

kara stay in I say! It sounds dangerous where you live! (Idiot kids, arsehole kickboxers, judgey parents ... you need to plot your revenge Wink)

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 14/02/2011 14:40

I'm in the bloody snotty nose club. Don't remember this from DS, but if it excuses my snoring I won't complain too much.

I went through DS's old clothes last night to figure out how much we still had for LO and oh. Those adorable tiny little all in ones that just want a baby in them. So wriggly and soft and cute...
I now have a nice organised list so that any impulse buying can have some direction. There's enough so that baby won't come home from the hospital naked, but not so much that I can't do any shopping once it's here and we know the sex Grin

Hope you're all recovering well from the weekend (esp those of you who've had to deal with toddler tantrums)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 14/02/2011 15:54

I've been given some tiny wee babygros by my friend whose ds was born nearly 6 weeks early - so gorgeous! He is now a healthy almost 2yo Smile
They had some tiny baby clothes in boots and they are just soooo lovely!! I have a voucher for Tesco Clothing so will go pick up some bits for DS and for the new baby.

motherofsnortpigs · 14/02/2011 16:10

Hi folks. Had a week in Spain at my parents' house/hotel. Fab. Caught up on most of the waffling and wittering. jasmine51 I think dog turd slinging should be in the Olympics. misshh thanks for the reminder that having 4 DC's in less than 5.5 years is crazy :) moomin I can't read Guess How Much I Love You without crying. 'Oh that's far, that's very, very far...' and I'm a jibbering wreck. Right this kitchen won't clean itself. Hmm no cute love heart emoticon. How disappointing.

motherofsnortpigs · 14/02/2011 16:19

Ooh, jasmine don't buy a steriliser, I have a spare Avent microwave one you can have. It is in our nursery, which is a glorified bit of loft space - no window let alone curtains :)

moomin156 · 14/02/2011 18:08

Been internet shopping ( looking) and has anyone else found the Babystyle oyster at a better price than

£269.99 for pram and colourpack ( black chassis)
£111.50 for cot and colour pack
£34.99 for footmuff

Total being £416.48

Or is that a good deal........can add in carseat if we wanted at £79.99 but not sure we want that one

HalleLouja · 14/02/2011 18:25

Has anyone tried Topcashback.com you can get money back on your internet purchases if you buy from certain people including (M&P). Worth joining up I have made over £200 on it buying things I would have bought anyway!

HalleLouja · 14/02/2011 18:26

Proper Topcashback linkey

moomin156 · 14/02/2011 18:27

Halle yes i use it all the time.....have made approx £200 per year in the last 2 years. Its really worth the free registration, and every penny does add up.

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 14/02/2011 18:31

A lot of people think its a rip off but its awesome and am always telling people that.

We got money back on our hols too.

moomin156 · 14/02/2011 18:40

I know people think there must be something hidden but there isnt. Great for cashback on car / house/ pet insurance. New phone contracts etc.........if you are buying online you might as well check the site and get 15p back than nothing at all.

OP posts:
KaraStarbuckThrace · 14/02/2011 18:45

Is it like quidco? DH has used that a lot and gotten ££££s back.

moomin156 · 14/02/2011 18:47

it is the same as quidco but quidco cahrge £5 to join i think. With my ex we were on both to see what got us the best deal but i just stick with TCB now. Also good to check out Vouchercodes sites for further discounts
