Delighted to be able to report that our little girl arrived safely at 7am yesterday morning, weighing 7lb 4oz after arriving at the hospital about 2 1/2 hours earlier! Not named yet, have barely slept for 2 nights and I am worrying about her constantly yet I am over the moon! She's perfect :)

Will give full story soon but right now too busy alternating watching her and worrying about her!

Nice to see people popping back in here, Daiso and slowshow glad things are going well.

Cavemum nice to see you and hope everything is going well for you (although I do keep an eye on the conception thread to see how you're all getting on)

Raspberry lovely to see you how're the wedding preparations going (hope I haven't missed the wedding)

:o

CaveMum · 07/07/2011 19:19

Huge congrats HH glad Pip arrived safe and sound :0)

All ok here, 27 + 4 now and it's dragging!!!I finish work on Tuesday(teahing-covering maternity leave !) so got lot of spare time to make time drag even more! I have so much to do in the house but can't do it mysel-painting, buying new furniture etc( am banned from painting after making a disastrous attempt lol)
I have my 28wk scan next Friday so that will be cool- hopefully all is well with little one!

Hope you are all keeping well :0)

haloflo · 08/07/2011 07:34

highheels Congratulations on your baby girl! I can't believe I missed the exciting build up! I hope all went well with the birth.

crazy It found it sped up after 30 weeks as I realised I had to give birth, then slowed down at 37 weeks when I was huge! Enjoy your time before he/she arrives. I hope all is well with your scan.

bunny Happy birthday for Wednesday!

cave Best of luck with the op - will think of you Monday. x

kurlyvoice · 08/07/2011 08:38

highheelsandequations · 08/07/2011 12:46

Birth story here, hope it makes sense, brain a little confuddled....

After posting on here we went for a walk then I decided I should try and get some sleep as although I wanted to keep active to speed things up I didn't want to end up too tired to push so went to bed. I got out of bed at 1.30 am as I decided it hurt too much to try and get any more rest. Went and woke DP at 2.30 am as was throwing up and in pain. Phoned the hospital about 3 am and told them I'd try to stay home a little longer as was terrified of being told I was only 1 cm or something. About half an hour later I was losing lots of show along with my waters, throwing up and ending up crawling on the floor with the contractions so told DP to phone back and say I was coming in. We left the house at 4, DP was convinced they'd send us straight home when we got there. Spent about 45 mins on the monitors when we arrived, getting more and more uncomfortable, midwives thought contractions weren't long enough. After coming off the monitors got my first examination and was very shocked (but relieved) to be told I was 8cm. The midwives went to start filling the pool, I had another very sore 10 mins then went along to the birth pool room. Got in the pool whilst it was still filling (this was about 6am) and immediately felt some relief. Midwives checked baby's heart and got me set up and then went off for a few minutes. The minute they left I felt the need to push and sent DP to get them quick. Midwives arrived back and told me to just go with what my body felt like doing. 28 minutes of pushing later our baby girl arrived. It then took just over an hour to deliver the placenta, most frustrating bit after everything else went so smoothly!

So we are now home, but having some problems establishing feeding. Baby is sleepy all the time so having to fight with her to wake up to try and get her to feed. MW came out this morning and coming back later and we have strict instructions to do nothing today except try to get her feeding sorted.

highheelsandequations · 08/07/2011 12:51

and cave hoping all goes well with your op and things start moving quickly for you now.

CaveMum · 08/07/2011 13:35

Lovely birth story HH, barring the throwing up in pain obviously!

Thanks for all the messages of support, you've all made me a bit teary!

Hope to be joining you all soon Grin

haloflo · 08/07/2011 14:59

Aww well done HH Keep going with the feeding - sounds like you are doing really well. We were advised to strip Hannah down to her nappy, blow gently on her face & tickle her toes to keep her awake during a feed. Has your milk come in yet? Hannah wasn't that bothered in the first 3/4 days until my milk came in. (Remember I had a huge panic at the time about her 5 day weight loss?)

haloflo · 08/07/2011 15:00

And I need not have worried in the slightest - she was and is fine.

highheelsandequations · 08/07/2011 16:37

halo thanks for the advice, been blowing on pip to try and keep her awake but she just likes her sleep too much. She's only had 2 good feeds in the last 24 hours. Glad to hear someone else had similar issues and all turned out well. Midwife has been round twice today and is phoning later so feel supported but a little helpless/useless.

Oh and forgot to mention in birth story but have to boast a little that I'm very proud I managed the whole thing on 2 paracetamol and didn't shout at DP once :)

haloflo · 08/07/2011 16:55

Its hard but I guess you have to trust the midwives to look after her. I was told to do skin to skin & keep offering her a feed. We were told to wake her every 2 hours in the day, 4 hours overnight but offer whenever she was awake. I only left hospital on the afternoon of day 3 & buzzed the midwifes endless times to watch me feed, ask why she wasn't feeding so you are doing really well at home.

This is my post on day 4 of Hannah's life which is the day my milk came in:

"Hannah is amazing so far although bf is tricky. Am determined to keep going though. Am nervous about the 5 day weigh in though as she hardly had anything for the first 2 days. Am hoping she is making up for it now. I never thought I would long for a dirty nappy quite so much! "

Remember you can ring delivery suite 24 hours a day for the first 28 days of your babies life. So if you are worried tonight don't hestitate.

Well done on the paracetamol!

raspberrytipple · 08/07/2011 21:16

aww, congrats HH! and well done at not shouting and 2 paracetamol - that is impressive!!!!

Hey toria!! Wedding plans are going well girls - 7 weeks today and I shall be Mrs Tipple :)

bunnygirl80 · 08/07/2011 22:13

HH if we're going for competitive lack of pain relief I didn't even have paracetomol WinkGrin

Will was a very sleepy feeder at the start - we did like halo suggested and stripped him down, washed his face with a cold cloth, and changed his nappy mid feed. Nappy change usually woke him up - if it didn't then he probably just wasn't hungry. They really don't need much food at all for the first few days - the hospital I was in who are almost militant in their love of BFing only expected babies to feed every 6 hrs in the first 2 days and then 4hrly after that. As long as she's producing wet nappies she's probably getting enough Smile

LateToTheTTCParty · 11/07/2011 11:00

Well, here we go! Just back from being 'booked in' at the hospital, got a date for the first scan (4 Aug), and now it's all feeling a whole lot more real! Confused I really don't feel very different so it's been a bit easy to forget it's actually happening! There's so much to take in, I'm sure I've forgotten most of it already...Grin (the midwife suggested Omega 3 supplements for baby-brain!)

Was thinking it might be time to change my name, but don't want to jinx it Grin

highheelsandequations · 12/07/2011 21:13

Well I am delighted to be able to report that our baby girl now has a name Rose Mairi. Unfortunately we had to go back into hospital on Saturday as she had lost too much weight and was refusing to feed. She had to have a tube feed to get some emergency calories into her and we had to watch lots of blood tests and her having a thing put in her hand and everything. Thankfully she has come round and is now feeding well and we came home this morning. It is so lovely to have her at home, although I am panicking every time it is more than 4 hours between feeds. Fingers crossed she'll keep going with her feeding and we won't have any more panics.

Sorry I'm not catching up on anybody else's news just now, I need to get back to staring at my adorable daughter.

LankyLegs · 13/07/2011 10:38

Highheels what a beautiful name!! Sorry to hear she had to have a visit to hospital again but pleased that she is on the mend and you totally enjoy snuffling your lovely little girl!

Hello to all the other frolickers.... I have a favour to ask... Can I join the thread? I know I have not been on the conception boards in months but it was all just freaking me out with the whole not getting pregnant thing after 20 months of trying and we were seriously considering IVF in the new year. However we got a BFP On May 27th and am now 10+2 and feeling royally awful (but pleased for it of course!). Due February 6th and on the Feb Bus but can not keep up and there seem to be a gazillion people on there.

It is very quiet in there though.... keeping fingers crossed we get loads of BFPs soon.

CaveMum · 13/07/2011 19:08

Just popping in to say what a lovely name HH. Hope your little girl contimues to thrive now.

Lanky congrats on the wonderful news!

I am determined to be back to bother you all as soon as possible!

haloflo · 13/07/2011 19:45

Oh HH so sorry to hear you had to go back to hospital. That sounds awful. So glad she is home and the feeding is going better. Beautiful name too. Any chance of a picture?! Grin

lanky Congratulations - thats brillant news!

cavemum Hope all went well with the op the other day.
